Hindustan Contessa - The Muscle car of India | in Tamil with Subtitles

Hindustan Contessa - The Muscle car of India | in Tamil with Subtitles

Thran Talks!:

What comes to your mind when you think about Muscle Cars
It will be a fas car, two-door coupe, it will have a powerful engine
it will drag racing focused
Most importantly, it will American Made car
This is what pops up to everyone when they think about a muscle car.
BUT!
During the 1980's in India
They Introduced a car
The car was luxurious
It was a four-door sedan
It had a class of its own
And it became popular among the politicians
Soon it got the name as "Muscle car of India"
That is the "Contessa" made by Hindustan Motors
In 1984 Hindustan Motors Introduced Contessa
with the price tag of Rs83,437.50
for this they charged Rs 15,000 as booking amount
Till that Ambassador was the Flagship model of Hindustan Motors
So they decided to bring a successor model for the Ambassador
Using the collaboration they had with Vauxhall
they created Contessa based on Vauxhall's Victor model
When introduced Contessa had 1.5l BMC B Series engine
Which produced 55 bhp as the maximum output
soon due to some malfunctions in the engine so they decided to replace the engine using their collaboration with Isuzu
and they replaced the engine with Isuzu's 1.8L 4ZB1 petrol engine
which produced 88bhp as maximum otuput

Contessa was offered with four basic colors
White, Black, Red and Blue
Contessa was offered with
Upgraded Headlights, Chrome bumpers,
Fuel injection
power windows, full wooden dashboard
power steering, standard AC
because of these features, Contessa was called as Indian Limousine
before it was called as Muscle car of India

soon it became a favorite car for the Government officials
in the next upgrade, contessa got Isuzu'z 2.0L 4FC1 diesel engine and a turbo-diesel variant for that
safety features like side-impact protection, laminated windshield,
and central locking systems where are also introduced in contessa
so what happened to a car with this number of features

Contessa's production was stopped in 2002
because of having good features till now car enthusiasts love contessa, but some units ended as scrap
with the wide-body, best interior and good hood space Contessa was easy to tune
Contessa owners conduct meets very often to show their love towards their car
Contessa can reach 160kmph, during the 1980's that too in India a car reaching 160kmph was one big thing
in my personal opinion, to continue Contessa's legacy they could have introduced generations in this car
nowadays we are able to see car enthusiasts making replicas of the American Muscle cars like Ford Mustang, dodge challenger like cars by using Contessa
let me know your opinion in the comments about India's first luxury car Contessa

Buying a used car – Check engine (Tamil)

Buying a used car – Check engine (Tamil)

NSW Fair Trading:

Buying a used car -
Check engine
Now that it is time to start the engine, have a friend stand beside the tail pipe,
while you start the engine, preferably cold.
You should be listening for any rattling type noises and how long
it takes for the oil light to go out
while your friend looks for any smoke from the tail pipe.
An oil light that takes more than a couple of seconds to go out...
or smoke from the tail pipe may indicate poor engine condition
requiring expensive repairs.
All warning lights must go out.
If any warning lights remain on, this may indicate
a fault that needs to be fixed.
Test all controls such as:
wipers,
washers,
lights,
indicators,
the audio system,
and the horn - ensuring they work.
Don’t forget to test the air-conditioning regardless of the weather.
Check: vent controls, all fan speeds and heater operation.
Press the pedal. Does it feel: spongy? hard? or have too much travel?
Don’t drive the vehicle if you have any concerns
and bring this to the attention of your mechanic.
Check the steering for free play. This is the movement felt at
the steering wheel before the road wheel starts to move.
Free play usually means worn steering parts which can be dangerous
and also expensive to repair.
Use the steering from lock to lock.
If fitted check the operation of all electric windows and mirrors.
Before you buy, NSW Fair Trading recommends
the vehicle be inspected by a qualified licensed mechanic.

Toyota Etios Diesel Video Review and Road Test by CarToq.com

Toyota Etios Diesel Video Review and Road Test by CarToq.com

CarToqVideos:

>>The Toyota Etios diesel is identical to
its petrol counterpart. The Toyota Etios VX-D
we are driving can only be differentiated
by the badging on the boot lid.
The Etios has a straightforward practical
design to it. Upswept smiling Toyota grille,
single windshield wiper, and boxy rear with
triangular tail-lamps are all very familiar.
The diesel Etios comes in three variants – GD,
VD and VXD
The VXD variant you see in this video is priced
at 7.87 lakh rupees ex-showroom New Delhi.
The Etios diesel competes with the Maruti
Dzire diesel, Tata Manza diesel and Ford Fiesta
Classic, but has unique driving characteristics.
Competition: Maruti Dzire diesel, Tata Manza
diesel, Ford Fiesta Classic
When you look at the specifications of the
Toyota Etios diesel on paper, they really
don’t seem impressive. It puts out just
68 bhp of power and 170 newton meters of torque
from a 1.4 litre diesel engine. It has a smooth-shifting
five-speed gearbox.
It’s the same engine that is used in the
Toyota Altis diesel, but has been detuned
for better mileage.
And talk about better mileage – Toyota claims
the Etios diesel gives 24 kilometers per litre.
During our road test, we managed an amazing
20.9 kilometers per litre in city driving
conditions.
The Etios diesel’s driving characteristics
are quite different from the petrol. The engine
needs to be kept above 1800 rpm for the turbo
to really give it a shove. This needs frequent
gear changes, but because the gearbox is quite
smooth, you don’t feel the effort.
Toyota has used some sound dampening material
under the bonnet, but that’s not enough.
There is a fair amount of engine noise and
road noise that enters the cabin. On hard
acceleration, you can hear the diesel engine
drone becomes intrusive.
The electric power steering feels very light
at low speeds, but weighs up well beyond 40
kilometers an hour. The suspension is fairly
stiff and good ground clearance helps on bad
surfaces. Braking is sharp and confident with
no dramatics.
As features and equipment go, the Etios is
quite basic. The top-end VXD has a DVD-based
music system with steering audio controls.
Mirrors are manually adjustable. The centrally
mounted instrumentation isn’t really worth
writing home about. We also weren’t too
impressed with the use of plastic and the
lack of door seals or other sound dampening
material.
But the huge 595 litre boot can swallow quite
a bit of luggage. A large 13-litre chilled
glove box is another plus, while the AC cools
quite effectively.
Overall, don’t expect the Etios diesel to
go winning any drag races or beauty contests.
Instead, what you get when you buy an Etios
diesel is a pretty well-built car that will
save you plenty of cash at the fuel pump with
its great mileage. It can also ferry five
people and their luggage comfortably, as long
as you can ignore the clatter from that diesel
engine.
