2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray looks wild! First look and specs revealed | carsales

carsales.com.au:

The first ever mid-engine Corvette will be
a truly global vehicle, and Holden has confirmed
that it will be coming to Australia.
Powered by a thumping 6.2-litre V8 engine,
it belts out almost 500hp [super: 370kW/640Nm]
and this drives through an eight-speed dual-clutch
transmission to the rear wheels, and it looks
like no other Corvette ever made.
The all-American sports car will be built
in left and right-hand drive – which means
it's coming to Australia – and it follows
66 years and 7 generations of Corvette history.
The new car will be extremely fast, thanks
to its free-spinning V8 and dual-clutch automatic.
Chevy says the gearbox can change gears way
faster than any human can.
Expect the 0-100km/h sprint to take around
3.0 seconds flat and top speed will be around
300km/h.
The car looks a bit like the lovechild of
a Honda NSX and a Ferrari Portofino, its wide
stance and exotic proportions delivering the
sort of design rarely seen in an all-American
sports car.
Touted as the best Corvette ever made, the
new coupe's rear end is probably the most
iconic, featuring signature Corvette brake
lights and quad exhaust pipes.
It also comes with removable roof panels,
giving it a sleek, exotic profile.
Chevy has completely redesigned the aero and
cooling systems.
The big V8 engine is visible through a glass
screen at the back of the car, which is fed
oxygen through a pair of huge, angular air
intakes behind the doors.
The driver's seat is moved forward to allow
more room for the engine, which is slotted
in right behind the driver.
The new corvette is 50 per cent stiffer than
its predecessor.
It has a better centre of gravity thanks to
the centrally mounted seats, which contribute
to enhanced handling dynamics and responsiveness.
Step inside the vehicle and as well as claiming
more leg room, the cockpit is extremely driver-focussed,
the touchscreen angled towards the driver.
There's a Ferrari-inspired oversquare steering
wheel and all the heating and cooling controls
have been pushed away, located on a long bridge
near the passenger.
There's a fully digital dashboard and three
seat options are available.
And Chevy says this is the most luxurious
Corvette ever built.
This sports car has been dubbed a milestone
vehicle for general motors.
It says this new model an attainable sports
car and will be priced at less than $60,000
in the US.
That said, expect the price will be well into
six figure territory when it arrives in Australia,
which will be around 2021.
Production of the new Chevrolet corvette will
begin in late 2019 with US buyers getting
the cars first in 2020.

2019 Chevrolet Camaro v Ford Mustang Comparison | carsales

2019 Chevrolet Camaro v Ford Mustang Comparison | carsales

carsales.com.au:

[Marton] After 40 years of Falcon versus Commodore,
welcome to the new V8 rear-drive grudge match.
Camaro versus Mustang.
[Bruce] Come on Marty, this one writes itself.
The Mustang is newer, it’s cheaper, it’s
got more gear.
[Marton] Bruce, the Camaro is more exclusive,
it’s got a bigger V8 and it looks the duck’s
guts.
[Bruce] So what are we going to do?
[Marton] Well, one of two things, road or
track?
[Bruce] Well what about both?
[Marton] For once, we agree.
If you’re watching this you’ll know the
latest Mustang is the first global factory
model.
While the Camaro comes to us via HSV which
is converting just 550 examples initially
and that’s why they’re a lot more expensive.
Both are 2018 models but while that means
the Mustang GT is upgraded with a 10-speed
auto and new driver safety aides, the Camaro
misses out on them but matches the Ford for
power and beats it for torque.
At $86,000 plus on-road costs, the Camaro
is almost 20 grand pricier than the Mustang,
but that hasn’t stopped up to 80% of them
being pre-sold.
[Bruce] So Marty, one of the big talking points
about the Camaro is being the local right-hand
drive conversion job by holding special vehicles.
I’ve got to say, I’m pretty impressed.
They’ve done a great job.
It’s almost to OE standard, I reckon.
[Marton] I agree.
You’d be hard pressed to pick at it.
If anything, the Mustang looks more like a
conversion than this because the handbrake
and the volume knob are both on the wrong
side.
[Bruce] Yes, you’re right but I reckon there
are a couple giveaways in the Camaro.
Well, I get the armrest while you get the
cupholders.
You get to put your elbow on the cupholder
which is something that they obviously haven’t
spent the money on.
[Marton] Not ideal.
But something they haven’t been able to
change is the dash, which is plastic.
They’ve left it all right-handed.
It’s plastic.
Something Mustang doesn’t have.
[Bruce] No, Mustang has a higher level of
presentation than this car.
I think the Mustang has an advantage.
It’s got a broader width of capability in
terms of, with those optional MagneRide dampers,
you can go from just toodeling around on them
or wind them up into sport plus mode and you’ve
got a pretty firm riding car.
This car, is just firm all the time.
[Marton] It’s the biggest difference between
them, isn’t it?
This is just tied down, old school.
It’s not compliant like the Mustang.
[Bruce] No, not at all.
No, the Mustang has got an advantage there.
[Marton]It’s the more complete car.
[Bruce] I’ve got to say, I love this Chevy
small-block, it winds and winds, it just pulls
like a train.
[Marton] Enormous mid-range, sounds okay,
only really sounds good up top but the Mustang
sounds good everywhere, doesn’t it?
[Bruce] It does.
And that Mustang, gee, it can even rev so
quickly.
[Marton] And the 10-speed auto, it’s almost
like a dual-clutch isn’t it, compared to
this?
[Bruce] It is so quick and it reacts early.
Braking for a corner, you’re lifting the
throttle and it reads and it goes bang, bang,
two gears.
Whereas the 8-speed in the Chevy, it’s slower.
[Marton] Sure, it’s a bit slower.
It doesn’t always do what you want it to
do.
The Mustang is always in the right gear.
People say it hunts, I disagree.
It’s busy but of course it’s going to
be busy with 10 speeds.
So on the road, these two muscle cars are
pretty evenly matched.
But the bumpier the surface gets, the greater
the Mustang’s advantage.
And it’s also more comfortable to live with.
But as they say in the classics, when the
flag drops, the bull dust stops and the let’s
face it, straight line speed is what these
pony cars are all about.
Despite the Mustang’s dragstrip mode and
the Camaro’s willingness to break traction
even mid-strip, the Chevy was consistently
quicker by about a tenth to a hundredth and
more than two tenths over the quarter-mile.
So just as I suspected, the Camaro is quicker.
[Bruce] Yes, you got me but only by a fifteenth,
Marty.
And I know one thing, I’m going to be more
comfortable than you riding home to Melbourne
today.
[Marton] Well you enjoy that Bruce, because
when I get home, I’ll be the only bloke
in my street with a Camaro.
[Bruce] So you take the Camaro, I’ll take
the Mustang and we’ll agree to disagree.
[Marton] It’s a deal.
Let’s hit the road.

2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Review | carsales

2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Review | carsales

carsales.com.au:

It’s over the top.
It’s over the edge.
And now it’s over here.
It’s the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
Born and built in the USA but converted to
right-hand drive by HSV in Melbourne and now
on sale through its national dealer network
and one can be yours for just 159,990 bucks.
I’m not kidding.
Okay so that price has instantly drawn a line
through the ZL1 for all but the few hundred
hardcore fans HSV is confident will put their
money down on this monster.
But considering the bang for buck maybe their
buying decision isn’t driven by passion
alone.
No other passenger vehicle on sale in Australia
today can match the ZL1’s combination of
price and performance.
The LT4 V8 smashes out nearly 500 kilowatts
and 900 newton metres.
That’s outstanding.
Okay it’s a push rod engine but it’s no
antique.
Variable valve timing and direct injection
ensure that.
There’s no less than 100 heat exchanges
in there keeping everything cool.
Speaking of cool, it was actually frigidly
cold and miserably wet for most of our ZL1
road drive.
Earlier in the week we’d had the chance
to feel the ZL1’s full force at Sandown
motor raceway and it was mega.
Driving the rear-wheel’s virus six speed
manual or ten speed auto, no surprise the
ZL1 hooks up and bangs out four second zero
to 100 times with the aid of launch control
if you want it.
Even in the wet there’s no doubting the
full force of the ZL1’s power train.
Holy crap this thing is fast.
The ZL1 is no one trick pony though.
It’s got magnetic ride control dampers which
means it can go from liveable in tour up to
absolutely kidney bruising in track.
And that chassis along with some big Brembo
brakes makes the ZL1 a really enjoyable car
to steer along a twisting section of road.
But don’t be mistaken.
Yes, this is a two-door coupe but it’s not
small and light.
It’s nearly four point eight metres long
and weighs in at 1800 kilos.
It does require some care and effort, especially
in the rain.
So you might be wondering about the quality
of HSV’s conversion drop.
Well it’s mostly top notch.
The flip mirrors look a bit weird and sticking
your elbow in the cup holders is odd but they
are things I reckon you could live with.
There’s a couple more downers that are really
more significant.
For instance, the back seat is a laughable
joke.
Treat is as extra boot space which is handy
because the boot is small and accessed via
a tiny boot lid is a challenge.
Visibility out of this thing in any direction
but forward is limited.
Thankfully there’s a reversing camera, rear
cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring
to help out.
But one crucial driver assist system that’s
missing is autonomous emergency braking.
The yanks don’t get it and nor do we.
And then there’s that Zee or Zed question.
Well we’re in Australia so that’s why
I’ve been saying Zed L1 but it’s your
money so it’s your choice.
Well what to make of this latest yank that’s
hit our shores.
Well no doubt it’s got its deficiencies
but it’s also got fantastic performance
and that’s the essence for something that
sits in the HSV showroom.
Surely it should be layout.
It should be proud.
And in this case you can add pretty bloody
epic too.

2019 Chevy Camaro SS: FULL REVIEW + DRIVE | The Camaro Transformed!

2019 Chevy Camaro SS: FULL REVIEW + DRIVE | The Camaro Transformed!

Car Confections:

What's going on everybody?
The Camaro is an American icon
And this generation particularly has been receiving rave reviews since it debuted in
2016 but now it's three years later and Chevy wanted to freshen things up. So it's making a Transformers inspired
transformation
Of course
we wanted to specially thank our friends at Sutherland Chevrolet for providing us with this fully loaded Camaro SS and
If you're in the market for any new Chevy, be sure to pay their dealership a visit or check them out via their website
Which we provided a link to in the video description
So with the Mustang recently gaining some ground over the Camaro sales wise, let's see if this refresh will change the tide
Alright so let's go ahead and address the elephant in the room right off the bat this grille
Now in pictures, I will say that it's less than flattered
But in person it does look much better
Especially when paired with a dark exterior color like this Riverside blue metallic
Non SS models also have a more traditional grille if you want to go that route
But anyways with that out of the way the headlights have also been redesigned
They are now fully LED on all grades of the Camaro and the previous accent light has been expanded to flow into the grille
Below that there is another LED accent and then on top SS models get a special hood bit
There hasn't been any changes to the side but the back did get some subtle refinements
The main thing is that the taillights have been separated again just like they used to be from the 2010 to 2013 models
They of course are fully LED and they have a really neat look with both amber and clear elements
SS models also have the really large spoiler. But thankfully my favorite part has not been changed
And that is the quad stainless-steel exhaust outlets pumping out that wonderful v8 burble
But overall despite some initial
Misgivings, the refresh Camaro is still a nice looking vehicle with a lot of lighting upgrades over last year
Now one of the other SS perks are standard 20-inch wheels
These are the included wheels, but there are at least nine of their options
Ranging from only $200 all the way up to three grand
and
four breaks
13.6 inch for piston bimbos are included up front and
13.3 inch ones in the rear
Moving to the mirrors you have to get this 2SS to have goodies
Like heating auto dimming and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert
Now we still don't have any other active safety features, but for 2019 we do now have forward collision warning on the 2 SS
Just be aware that Mustang does offer a full active safety package
The last thing to look at is the very generously sized 19 gallon fuel tank
Obviously fuel economy isn't great. But the big tank does still allow you to get 380 miles of range
Chevy does recommend using premium fuel in the v8
So that's it for the redesign exterior, so now let's go ahead and get inside and see what they've done in there
So every Camaro does come standard with Chevy smart entry system
And you will also find a standard remote start system. As long as you choose the automatic transmission. I
Like pretty much all GM vehicles, there's not a sensor behind the handle so you just press this button to unlock
And
Then looking inside the cabin you'll see there's not a great deal of changes for 2019 here definitely a lot less than on the outside
But the cabinet here is already a very very nice place to be now as far as the interior materials and color schemes
They also have not changed for 2019
So your base SS continues to come with black or gray cloth seating and then going out to the 2 SS gets you leather in
black gray
adrenalin red
Kalahari or my personal favorite the ceramic color was very classy looking
And then turning over here to your door trim that same nice look continues over here
So you've got more of that ceramic leather on the armrest here, which looks really good
Although it might be a little bit hard to keep clean
we've got even more leather up here as well as down here and then you've got a real piece of
Aluminum that goes around through here with your accent lighting integrated into it
As far as your windows, there are one touch automatic up and down and you also find two person memory seating on the two SS
As far as the seat it is an eight-way power adjusting but you are lacking lumbar support
And then like I was saying the seats they have a really excellent look and they also feel really high-quality
with nice bolstering nice accent stitching as well as your SS branding and
You can get a Recaro seat if you prefer something a little bit more aggressive
So, like I said at first glance around the cab and you won't notice any big changes from last year
However, there are some little details hidden around the cabin
Now one of the things that has not changed were the materials which were already excellent
So across the top of the dash you do have a heart touch plastic as expected
But once you move down to your lower area, so you've got a leatherette trim with color contrast stitching going
down even further
You've got some more leatherette where you need my touch as well as on the armrest portion and everything does fit together
Really really solidly and feels well built
And standard on all Camaros you do have push-button start
When you turn it on you will see an 8-inch display fire up on all of the SS models
versus the seven-inch display that's standard on your v6 and turbo for
But of course that right there is why you buy a SS
Now another nice benefit of going for the SS is that it comes standard with this
Upgraded gauge cluster with the large 8 inch display in the middle
Now for those of you have been watching this channel for a while
You know that I really like these GM gauges because they have a lot of functions and a lot of customized ability
On the Camaro. It's no different. You've got all the standard functions. Plus you've got this performance tab
This gives you a bunch of different information
Regarding your oil temperature pressure
voltage transmission fluid tire temperature a lot of useful things for performance situations
And then additionally you still get your standard fare options where you can change things like the theme
So you can switch over and go into technology mode. For example
And give a kind of a more high-tech look
To go along with that with that, on the 2SS you're gonna have a heads up this way
Now this also is customizable and adjustable you just press this info tab and switch to your miles
Per hour radio functions navigation and various other things or you can leave it here
Which is the probably the coolest one shows your rpms as well as the G reading so that's pretty cool
And then coming back here to the steering wheel
Thankfully Chevy did not change anything here because this is already a really lovely steering wheel. We've got a nice flat bottom design
contrast
contrasting and perforated leather stitching
And it just feels really really great in the hand
Now as far as your buttons, you've got your cruise control as well as your heating and then on this side
You've got your controls for that display as well as your typical phone and voice commands and below. You've got some radio controls
Back behind the shifter you will find paddle shifters
If you get the automatic transmission, of course and then the wheel itself is manually tilt and telescoping
I know this is not your main concern when you get a muscle-car, but let's talk about the storage
It's actually decent
If you have a pretty large for muscle car center console
So I've got enough space you can fit a phone or something else small
You've got your two USB ports and an aux jack right there
Confirm that you've got your two cupholders
As well as a 12 volt outlet
And then you can maybe put something up here as well. Although it's not really designed to hold anything
So for a muscle car believe it or not this pretty decent
Now, of course we do have the automatic transmission this is optional on the SS
So just like any automatic you pull back to drive and pop over to the left to select your gears manually or via
those paddle shifters
When you go into reverse a backup camera is standard
It does have active trajectory as well. And I think the resolution has been upgraded this year
It looks a little bit nicer than what I remember looking like last year
And then of course there is an electronic parking brake as well
I like you to expect from any good muscle car. You've got a host of different drive modes to select from
Now what it's been in so far during this review has been tour mode
However, you can go down into sport and that immediately even here at Idol you can immediately tell that the engine no changes everything gets
more aggressive
Then you can go into basically a full manual mode where everything is off for track use and
Then you get a snow and ice mode just to kind of help you try to navigate
different situations if you try to use this as a Four Seasons vehicle like some people do
And then this button defeats, of course your traction control
Alright, so now let's talk about the unique climate controls
These are dual zone automatic on the two SS
And of course what's unique about them is you've probably seen on previous Camaro reviews is that you adjust the temperature by twisting around?
the vent and you
Can see that temperature show up right there. I
Really like this, I think it looks excellent
and it's easy to use easy to understand the only drawback I can come up with is that
Say you have it. I had in our really high temperature like I didn't which was high 90 degrees
You kind of have to stick your hand into the belly of the beast
so to speak and burn it up a little bit to make that adjustment, but overall I think is really sleek looking and I
Like it a lot
Now also on the 2 SS you've got three-stage heated seats as well as three stage ventilated seats
Also on the two SS you've got the upgraded audio system
So let's go ahead and take a listen to the Bose 9 speaker sound system
Overall sound quality is excellent, especially for such a small cabin
That brings us to our first
2019 change or the most significant that is
Which is our upgraded Chevy LT man free system. So let's go ahead and take a quick look around this system
As you can see this has got the upgraded graphics as well as the upgrade of processing and everything in the backend
So you've got your homepage. You've also got some shortcuts along to the bottom and a home button as well as physical one below it
Now you can click on any of these sections to expand them
so for instance
We can click on our navigation which is a $500 option as you can see it loads up Chevy's latest navigation
graphic graphic quality here and performance is excellent much improved and this map doesn't even include things like your
Map tilt which is a pretty cool feature
Heading back here to our applications
You've course got your standard audio controls where you can play and pause through your standard bluetooth
As well as your other audio sources and then your presets across the top
And do I want to mention your phone
That's your keypad as well your contacts which are automatically sync over and there are awesome. That's text message support as well
Like every Chevy product you have a standard Wi-Fi hotspot powered by OnStar and
You do have standard Android auto and apple carplay
So you do have the ability to have navigation through Google or Apple Maps without having to pay that extra charge for the integrated navigation
if you don't want to
Now one of the other nice 20:19 changes is that your accent lighting has been upgraded further that already was super customizable
And really nice set up before but now you've got these split blended color rows
so as you can see, you've got your solid colors and
of course that takes the whole strip and make some one color, but if you go into one of these blended modes, so we'll do
this one right here as
you can see now our
Top part of the accent is a different than our bottom part
So it gives it a really unique look and you just have a ton of different options available here to choose from
But anyways, that's pretty much it for the Chevy infotainment system 3
However, we will have a more detailed tech help video available
For those of you who want to learn more a link said that is provided in the video description
Heading on up here to the mirror initially this does look the same as last year. However, it is actually not
Look this switch and you've now got GM's
rear vision camera system
Now you think do I really need this for a car so small since it's typically in trucks and SUVs
But as many of you know, the Camaro struggles with rear visibility and nothing has changed in 2019 in that regard
So the back window is still very small and you can still see very little out of it
So this definitely helps and cuts out all the obstructions
Integrated within this you do also have your home link universal remotes and
Then above it you get your OnStar buttons as well as LED light
This particular model does not have a moonroof. However, it is optional if you want one
But overall the small refinements that Chevy is made for 2019 simply make this an even better place to spend time
this is a cabin that feels everyday livable even though this is a performance vehicle and
Honestly, I just don't have any complaints about it. It's luxurious
It feels pretty spacious and so long as you can get past, you know, compromise visibility and stuff like that
This is definitely a car that you can be comfortable with living with on a day to day basis
Now we'll go ahead and hop outside here and let Mason check out the rest of me
All right, so getting in the back seats of the Camaro is pretty easy
So you just fold this seat back forward and then slide it with the power seat
Now once you do you won't have an entryway into the rear seats
now, of course
These are pretty cramped as with any muscle car and their technical
Measurement comes in at twenty nine point nine inches of legroom and thirty three point four inches of headroom
That does make it pretty much class competitive. Now, you will notice you have to climb over the seat belt. So just pull it down
Then you can climb right in
Now my first impression back here is actually a pretty good one now the seat is scooted all the way forward
So this is obviously more like room than the average adult would have
But I'm actually really comfortable these seats are buckets in the back still made that two-tone beautiful design and they're actually really comfortable
Here in the middle. You have another two-tone black leather here as was a little storage tray
And then off to your right you do have an armrest though. It is not padded
But overall
You don't really expect much out of these rear seats and Headroom is lacking of course and as well as you know
really like room but
This is not really that bad of a place that's really competitive with the class. And I really like that the seats are comfortable
Now to get out just go ahead and fold that up push it forward and climb right up
Getting around to the trunk, all you have to do is locate the button under the lid and it will pop right open
Now inside this is one of the spaces where the Camaro is smaller than the Mustang so you're going to find
9.1 cubic feet for the coupe model dropping down to 7.3 cubic feet for the convertible now
Like I said, that is smaller than the Mustang since it has 13.5 cubic feet
However, this is actually pretty big it goes back quite a ways and it does look pretty deep to me
You could probably fit quite a bit of stuff back here. Maybe a couple weekend backs and
The opening is pretty good-sized
Now, of course the passenger seat is that beautiful design with SS branding
In this model, it is two-ton as well as six-way power adjusting on all SS
I'm really pleasantly surprised with the materials in front the passenger since you do have a leather area up here
close up at a dashboard and
Down below that you do have a good sized glove box opens quite a ways
And above that you do have a Sun Visor with integrated mirror and lights that gently fade in
And it does also detach an extent
Well guys that sums up all the boring stuff
So now let's go ahead and get to the real reason you buy an SS the powertrain
So like we've already talked about this refresh is mostly cosmetic
However, there have been some adjustments to the powertrain still as far as the main part of the powering the engine it is unchanged
So we still have the lt1
6.2 liter v8
putting out
455 horsepower and
455 pound-feet of torque and
That's good for a 0-60 under 4 seconds, which is just about in line with that of the Corvette
What's different this year is that you've got a 10 speed
automatic transmission to replace the 8-speed automatic if you choose to go that route or
You still have the six-speed manual if you want the more purist experience
Now, of course in a vehicle like this fuel economy is not your biggest concern. However, we do have cylinder deactivation on the v8
So you still get a decent 20 mpg combined
Now believe it or not. This car can go up to 25 combined
If you go for the 2 litre 4-cylinder engine and that's really impressive for a performance vehicle
But anyway, so that sums up our basic
Powertrain information. So let's go ahead and go for a quick test drive
Now of course this is not my car
And it's very cold
Out there ice on the road and the tires are very cold. So it's not gonna be like a super exhilarating
burnout drag race
Donut type of test drive but we will get a little taste of just how nice that engine sounds even at low speeds
I mean, that's really why you buy the SS because you're not driving
you know the
Throttle matted all the time actually most the time you're not going to be because this is just a ton of power
So even when you're just driving casually around town
Whatever, it just sounds fantastic and that to me is just the biggest reason to get the SS
So in case you're wondering this is a fun car even a 25
It's just it's really irresistible
To just a goose that throttle listen to that exhaust note and I you would enjoy this at any speed and
Also, I think the notice is that you capture everyone's attention when you're driving down the street in this thing
It's a captivating blue color and all that noise. It's making everybody will be looking at you
Now, of course we're not gonna have any meaningful impressions for you know handling at the edge or whatever
Because this has capability that there's no way I'm gonna be able to test out
But uh
You know, you can't tell of course the steering is excellent very commutative
Super fast right now. We're in the sport mode. That's what I think most owners would want to stay in just to
make sure you get all the entrance note that you can get all the time and
Keeps that steering and throttle response as sharp as possible
And let's play around the manor moer just a little bit before we return it
Wow
Flip that throttle Wow, just excellent I get home. I'm gonna see why anybody would want to home this car
If this is not something you consider at least considered owning, you know, it's not the most practical type of vehicle
But if you drive this thing you start to make excuses for reasons why you should have it
and
And it's not it's not horrible. No you quality
You know just driving down the street if you put it in the touring mode, it doesn't make a lot of noise
but if you can get past the noise which you know a lot of people like
It's really a comfortable car. It doesn't ride too too rough or anything like that. So
Overall I'm very impressed with all those car drives

it's mid-engine.
There is a 6.2-liter
V8 right about here.
Now, that's a big deal
for a lot of reasons.
Well, one, it's the first
time that a Corvette
has gone mid-engine.
Two, it brings a ton
of performance benefits
and it makes a pretty radical
change to what Corvette is.
Really quick, that engine
is still a pushrod V8.
That means it's low, it's
sacrificing a little bit
of valve train sophistication
for sitting low in the car
itself.
It's attached to an 8-speed dual
clutch automatic transmission.
The only transmission
offering, and of course, it
drives the rear wheels.
Now, it makes 495 horsepower
with the performance exhaust,
and with Launch Control, and
with the performance options,
like the Z51 track package
that was on the C7, and so on,
enables 0 to 60 in less
than three seconds.
Push is pretty spectacular.
Now, one of things
that happens when
you switch to a
mid-engine configuration
is of course all that space that
was once cargo volume is now
engine volume, I guess?
But there's still
a trunk behind it,
which Chevy says can
fit two golf bags, which
is pretty impressive.
It shows Chevy's
commitment to understanding
the practicality
aspect of the Corvette,
and why owners really
appreciate that.
It makes this car more
usable for more people.
On top of that, there's also
a front trunk, or frunk,
up front.
Combined, both of those
compartments make 12.6-ish
cubic feet of cargo space,
which is pretty important.
Let's go a little
bit further up.
One of things they maintained
was the removable roof,
which has always been a
highlight of Corvettes.
It's nice to be able to
take the roof off and just
go for a cruise.
There are a couple of
other big, dramatic changes
to the rest of the car, as well.
Gone are the
transverse leaf spring
setup that used to underpin
Corvette for a long time.
Now we're just down
to coil overs, which
is more traditional,
and should make
for a really sophisticated
ride and handling,
especially when paired with the
magnetic fluid-filled shocks
that Corvette's been using
in recent years, and those,
we've really liked a lot.
Chevy says in the
press materials
that the Corvette equipped
with all-season tires
can generate 1 G laterally.
That's ridiculous
for all-season tires,
and that's such a high
amount of grip capability
that actually all Corvettes
now will have a dry [INAUDIBLE]
oiling system to ensure constant
lubrication to important engine
bits when you're
cornering really hard.
A lot of really
exciting stuff there.
Let's move our way to the front.
And one of the real advantages,
beyond all the performance
headroom, of having the
engine in the middle,
because it's putting more
mass on the rear tires,
giving them more traction to
brake, accelerate, and handle,
but you also move the passenger
compartment quite a bit
forward in the cabin.
And that means you can
put the hood down lower,
because there's no
longer an engine there.
You can make the
windshield bigger.
That gives you a
better sight line.
And because there's no
longer an engine blocking it,
you can have a shorter
and more direct steering
system, which makes the
whole thing feel more direct.
It also helps when you're
closer to the front wheels, too.
It makes the process
feel a little bit better.
Let's find a way to
hop inside and talk
about what's going on in there.

The interior's a
pretty dramatic change,
like the rest of
the car, I guess.
Two seats, of course.
Squared-off steering
wheel, which
looks interesting, but
in my experience, cars
that use this design work
pretty well because you have
four unique points
of contact that
help in doing hand-over-hand
steering around tight corners,
or when you're in a power
slide, as I like to do,
it helps you locate where
the center of the wheel
is really quickly.
Big digital gauge cluster
behind that, infotainment
display here, all
very driver-oriented
how it wraps around you,
especially this little trim
piece of HVAC controls.
Very interesting decision.
It's going to be a while
before we actually figure out
if we like it or
not, but I will say,
I like having physical buttons
rather than digital ones buried
in the menu.
One of things we
haven't talked about
is something that's
really impressive,
and that's a button
hidden up here
that lifts the front
end of the car when
you're approaching like a
speed bump or your driveway.
And the cool thing is when
you do that, you can actually
have the GSP system
remember where that was,
so when you get home, you don't
have to always hit that button.
Or if there's always a speed
bump or a pothole on your drive
home, the car will just
learn that as you use it.
And that's a really cool
thing to have in a sports car.
There's nothing more
embarrassing than scraping
the nose on your sports car
as you leave your driveway
in the morning.
Very, very embarrassing.
There's a lot here that we're
going to learn, and experience,
and talk about.
But for the time being, this
Corvette looks really cool,
and we can't wait to drive it.

2020 Subaru Outback Test Drive Review — More Capable Than Ever?

Edmunds:

[MUSIC PLAYING]

TRAVIS LANGNESS: Is it a wagon?
Is it a lifted hatchback?
Is it a crossover,
or is it an SUV?
I don't really know.
But I do know is this is
the 2020 Subaru Outback.
And we're here, Northern
California, taking it out
for a first drive.
We're going to show you
what's new about it, what's
new under the hood, and all
the cool tech and safety
features that you can get.
And we're going to
take it off road.
But before we do that, be sure
to subscribe to our YouTube
channel and go to Edmonds.com
for more information.
So what's new about the Outback?
Well, pretty much everything.
Under the hood, the base model
gets a 2.5 liter four cylinder,
which is the same as
the last generation.
But it's actually a new
engine, same size, new engine.
This one, however, has the turbo
charged 2.4 liter engine, which
replaces the old six cylinder.
And this one gets more
power, more torque,
and better fuel economy-- all
great things for a new car.
There's different sheet
metal, different styling
up front and in the back--
different set of roof rack
systems with tie-down sections.
It's also got the same
tent weight rating
as the previous generation got.
So you can put a
700-pound tent on here
while this thing is parked,
or a 176 pounds while moving.
As you go down the
side of the vehicle,
you notice some Subaru styling.
They've styled it
they said to look
kind of like a hiking boot
with the rubber on the bottom
but a little bit nicer up top.
Then you come around
back, different tail
lights, different rear fascia.
And if you get the option, you
can have a power lift tailgate
with the hands-free section.
But it doesn't use a foot swipe,
like some other manufacturers
do--
just uses a little sensor
here in the tailgate.

On the inside of the new
Outback, there's a lot to like.
For starters is the
big party piece--
this optional 11.6 inch
tablet style touchscreen.
Now, there are a couple of
things to note about this.
First, it's really high quality.
It's high resolution.
The touch screen moves easily.
It responds to touch mode
stuff well to your inputs well.
But it is a little bit small.
If you look up, like, Apple
CarPlay player Android
Auto, that seems a
little kind of shrunken,
because width-wise,
it's not very large.
Otherwise, though, the nav
map shows up really cool.
It's powered by TomTom.
So it's got good
directions in here.
This is a really nice system.
It does, though, intrude a
little bit on storage space.
You can't really
put much down here.
There's two USB plugs here.
And there's an option
for dealer accessory,
charging wireless pad.
Now, over here on
the passenger side,
there is some more
smartphone storage space.
But it's not a lot.
There are some nice
soft touch points
on the side for
your elbows here.
It really feels good
to drive and relax in.
And the center console here has
this nice little top section
and then a larger section
below for more of your gear.
Now, you can't put a smartphone
here in the center console.
And there's a nice little
addition for cup holders.
These are nice and deep.
And also on the passenger
side here, there's
another bit for storage.
So small item storage, it
seems like they're kind
of making due with the space.
When you go down into
the touch screen,
there are a couple of
things worth noting.
It's got all of the controls
for the driver aids in here.
You've got systems,
like, auto stop,
start are integrated
into the touch screen.
The climate control also
integrated into the touch
screen.
Sure, you can do the heat
and cooling buttons here.
But the fan buttons are here.
And they're small
and don't always
respond to your touch inputs.
It's kind of annoying.
And when you get deeper
into the screen settings,
you can go into things that
have to deal with the car
and driving its distance.
So you can look at the
pre-braking collision,
turn that on or off.
Or you can going into
lane departure warnings
and see which ones you
want to turn on and off.
One of the coolest
parts, though,
is you can go into the
cruise control acceleration
characteristics on
the menu and change it
from level one, eco,
two, comfort, three,
standard to four, dynamic.
Now, what this means is you
can adjust the level of speed
that the car picks up
when someone gets out
of your way on the
highway, and you've
got adaptive cruise
control engaged.
This is a complaint we
have on tons of cars
that when someone
gets out of your way,
and the adaptive cruise
control re-engages,
the car kind of takes
some time to pick up.
But on this one, it
can adjust it yourself.
Steering wheel is great.
It's pretty much the same
as the previous generation,
got heff to it.
And while at first glance, it
seems like it's kind of crowded
with buttons, and you
get a little overwhelmed,
things fall the hand easily.
And once you got it figured
out on the road a couple hours
behind the wheel,
you're not going
to have a problem
with these buttons.
It's also nice that there
is still a volume knob here,
despite there being
one over here.
And the driver display
system, it's bright.
It's got a good
font, good contrast.
And it doesn't distract
you from the road.
There's not a lot of extra
information going on there.
This is, all in all,
a great place to be.
We're out on the road.
Moving to the back seat, I
have the seat set for me,
and I'm 5 foot 9.
There's definitely
enough knee room
here for somebody
who's even taller.
If I sit all the way
back and upright,
there's plenty of space here.
A lot of foot room underneath.
And there's plenty
a head room up top.
There's also a couple
of nice features
back here for passengers, like
your two USB charging ports
and outboard heated seats.
So it's a little cold.
People sitting on the outboard
seats-- be nice and warm.
And then the center
here, obviously, you've
got the full data center
console with cup holders.
You have the 40/60 split seats.
And if you sit in
the middle, it's
not entirely uncomfortable.
Now, I wouldn't want to be
here for a long road trip.
But a trip to the
store, no problem.
We've got a hands-free tailgate
and a couple of cool features
in the back here.
For instance, let's say you
do have a bunch of stuff.
Your hands are full.
And you want to load it in.
But it's too large
for this cargo cover--
simply push down on
it, slides right up.
It's pretty awesome.
Now, back here, you've got
32.5 cubic feet of storage
behind the rear seats,
which may seem smaller
than the previous generation
because it's a smaller number.
But it's just a difference
in the way the [? SCAE ?]
ratings work out.
This is actually more space than
the previous generation car.
And you've got the folding
seats there with the handles.
And you get, now,
over 75 cubic feet
of cargo space, which is more
than enough for two adults
to lay down in a camping
trip or just enough to put
a lot of lumber in.
Either way, it's a spacious SUV.
[MUSIC PLAYING]

A lot of people are going to
buy this car with the base
engine-- the 2.5 liter naturally
aspirated boxer four cylinder.
And I would tell them not
to, because this 2.4 liter
turbocharged engine is
definitely the one to have.
It's got a ton of get up and
go, 260 horsepower, 277 pound
feet of torque.
And it's honestly a really
nice engine to drive.
Even with the CVT, it feels
like it's got down shifts.
It feels like it's got
some real get up and go.
I'm just a fan of it.
It's not grading either.
It's not wheezy or loud.
And even when you're
going up grades,
it seems to have a
good low tone to it,
unlike some other
turbo-charged four cylinder
engines, especially when
they're paired with CVTs.
You don't get that with
this 2.4 liter engine.
And this is the
same engine that you
get in the Subaru Ascent,
their big three-row crossover.
Oh, it's got some power.
It feels good, especially on
a straight away like that.
Brakes are good too.
Turn in is good.
Really, it feels
kind of sporty, which
is something I
didn't think I'd find
myself saying after driving
this car for a few hours.
But it feels like something
that I could definitely
go on, like a
canyon run in, which
is weird for a
midsize SUV/crossover.
Now, there are a couple of
competitors in the class that
give you that same vibe.
The Passport is very similar.
We just did a video with
the Passport and the Blazer.
And while I'm not a huge
fan of the Blazer myself,
I do agree that it's
got a very sporty vibe.
But despite this
outback's outdoorsy looks,
it's a car that really
holds its own when
it comes to curvy roads and
getting around and having
a little bit of fun.
This is definitely not something
you would think is an SUV.
It kind of lends to the
idea that this feels more
like a wagon or a car, which
in my opinion is a good thing.
Yeah, I know
everybody likes SUVs.
They're really popular.
That's why Subaru has made this
car bigger and more capable
over the years.
But the party trick
that it's kept
is the fact that it's still
really capable around corners.
Steering has a good
on-center field,
returns the center really
easily in your hands.
It's got good weight to it.
And where you don't get all this
body roll and heave to and fro.
And on the highway, it's
really comfortable-- good ride
quality, good seats.
It's a little bit noisy in here.
You can probably hear kind
of that low hum of the tires.
But it's not too bad.
You turn on the music, and
it drowns out real easily,
especially with the optional
Harman Kardon sound system
that this trim level has.

There's a lot of
passive, active--
all kinds of safety features
available-- optional standard
on this Subaru.
And some of those, like, lane
keep assist and blind spot
monitoring-- those
are across the board
in a lot of different vehicles.
You can get them
pretty much everywhere.
But this car has a system
that's very unique.
It's called driver focus.
And there are actually
infrared radar systems here
that read my face and can tell
if I'm looking down too long
or getting drowsy.
It also knows who I am.
You can store up to five driver
profiles in here that greet you
when you get into the car.
And well, it seems
kind of Skynetty.
I do like it.
It's fun.
And it sets up your
seat based on your face.
It's definitely a new and
interesting system but one
I'm happy to get used to.
So what I'll do here is,
I'll look up at the road.
I'll put my head down.
And in a second, the car
should figure out-- yep,
you hear that beep?
The car just figured out that I
wasn't paying attention-- told
me to keep my eyes on the road.
So if you're looking at
your cell phone, which
you absolutely
shouldn't be doing,
it will make that noise as well.
One of the great features too
about the inside of this car
is that everything is
kind of down and away.
It's out of my line of sight.
It's a great flat dashboard,
tons of forward visibility.
And there aren't really
any appreciable blind spots
in the Outback.
But there's an optional
180-degree front-view camera
helpful when you're
out on the trails.
And there's a nice big
rear-view camera display
in this 11.6 inch tablet.
Now, these seats-- these
are pretty comfortable too.
From the second you
get at them, you
realize that you don't really
have to adjust much when you're
out on the road.
There's good bolster support.
There's adjustable
lumbar support.
That was lane departure.
I got out of the way of a
truck that was oncoming.
Now, when it comes
to this driver aids,
they can be a little
bit sensitive.
But honestly, it's
probably still
one of my favorite
systems on the market.
There are other systems,
like, for example, the Honda
One that's a little
bit more sensitive,
and I'm not a huge fan.
But this Subaru system
is, it's really intuitive.
And you can adjust things,
like, how fast it pulls away
from adaptive cruise.
And someone gets
out of your way.
And you can just turn off
some of the systems entirely.
And it goes around
corners pretty well--
look at that.
So what's the Outback
like on the road?
Honestly, it's really good.
Same as last generation.
It handles well.
It steers well.
Sure, it's no sports car.
This steering is a
little bit vague.
But it's definitely more
connected than somebody
on frame SUV competitors.
And it's got a good heft
in your hands, good return
to center field here.
And I would enjoy driving
this on any back road.
[MUSIC PLAYING]

So now that we've done
some on-road stuff,
we're going to do some
off-roading in this Subaru
Outback.
And really, there
is a difference
between this kind of off-roading
and the kind of stuff
you might see on
Jeep commercials.
We're going over a
few water crossings
here through some ruts.
And there's plenty
of ground clearance,
because this Subaru, just like
all its Subaru SUV brethren,
has 8.7 inches of ground
clearance at the lowest places.
It's got OK approach
and departure angles.
But it has dual X-Mode.
So it's the upgraded
version of the base X-Mode.
This is deep mud engage X-Mode.
OK, so let's go into
the system here.
X-Mode is on.
And I will move
forward for deep mud.

I did just fine.
Honestly, that wasn't
really that deep.
So we'll ignore that part.
But the X-Modes come in two
available software systems.
There's the base X-Mode,
which allows you to do hill,
descent control--
things like that-- kind
of manages the traction
of the all wheel drive system.
And then there's the dual
X-Mode, which is on this car
and which allows for
sand, snow, rocky areas.
It gives you some wheel
slip so you can get out
of kind of hairy situations.
So if you live in an area
where there's a lot of snow,
or you know you're going to be
traversing trails more often,
than maybe go for one of the
Outbacks with the dual X-Mode.
Now, as we go
through this section,
you can see that I'm going
between a cut down tree.
And it is really precarious--
find something maybe two,
three inches wider--
wouldn't make it through there.
And one of the nice
things about this vehicle
is that it does have kind
of smaller dimensions
than some of its
bigger competitors,
like the forerunner.
Out here on the trails too,
most of the stuff you're
going to find isn't Moab.
Look, I know jeeps are good.
I know forerunners are good.
I know a Raptor can go anywhere
and do jumps in the desert.
But vehicles you want to
live with on a daily basis
are ones like the Outback.
OK, I'm not a huge fan of CVTs.
But this one is
really well-tuned.
And the 2.4 liter turbo-charged
engine has plenty of power.
It's also got plenty
of space in the back.
And as opposed to
a high-riding SUV,
it's got a nice low load floor.
So you can get big heavy items,
your camping totes, your kid's
strollers, whatever
in the back, easier
than you could if you had
something that was higher up,
like a pickup truck or
a body on frame SUV.
It's got its benefits.
And it's going to be
less expensive than some
of those competitors too.
So there's a good reason to
check this one out first.
[MUSIC PLAYING]

Does the 2020 Subaru Outback
deliver on all its promises?
Absolutely.
This is one of the
most comfortable,
capable, spacious and high
tech midsize SUVs on the market
today.
It's hard to tell yet whether it
will edge out top competitors,
like the Honda Passport.
But once we get it
in-house at Edmonds
and do a full instrumented test,
we'll be sure to let you know.

2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss // It's Called the BOSS for a Reason!

2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss // It's Called the BOSS for a Reason!

Car Confections:

What's going on YouTube
So as you guys know even as hot as crossovers are right now in the u.s
They are still no match for the sales figures that the big three pickup trucks produce
That's why we're spending the day with the latest 2020 version of the Chevy Silverado
This time in the LT Trail Boss configuration, which is one we didn't get to check out last year
Of course. We do want to take a moment to specially thank our friends at Sutherland Chevrolet in Nicholasville
Kentucky for giving us access to this Silverado and if you're in the market for any new Chevy
Make sure you stop by their dealership or visit them via their website, which we provided a link to in the video description
So with that all set, let's see if this version of the Silverado is the one to buy

So beginning things here on the outside as always the trail boss is going to stand apart from the other trims immediately
Now obviously the biggest change is that the entire front is rendered in a metallic black both the grille and the bumper areas
As far as the grill itself
The LT trail boss uses the more traditional Chevy design before it's painted wide
Whereas if you go for the cheaper custom trail boss it gets the version with Chevrolet spelt out across it
Just something to consider if your cross shopping the two
By continuing on with this LT trail bus it comes with the full LED headlight arrangement that comes in three distinct sections
the turn signal is not LED, but the fog lights are
And while we're down here, I will mention that the trail boss has a two inch lift over the regular models
Which brings the total ground clearance up to a very nice ten point eight inches
Now continuing around to the rest of the truck the mirrors and door handles
Are finished in that same metallic black and of course you do have Trail Boss brand
The back looks pretty similar to the other trims with LED taillights and dual exhaust tips
But the bumper is metallic black just like in the front
So overall, the trail boss certainly stands out is the most aggressively styled Silverado in the lineup
But I expect nothing less from something with the word boss in the name
Now turning our attention to the wheels the trail boss offers two different options
These are the standard blacked-out 18-inch alloys
However for 800 bucks you can get larger 20 inch alloys with the same spoke design just with a brighter finish
Checking out the mirrors they are power adjusting heated and we have the blind spot monitoring system, which is included in the safety
And speaking of safety systems the trail boss can only get safety package 1
So that does mean it will be missing out on forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection
Lane Keeping Assist
Automatic high-beam headlights any new adaptive cruise control system for 2020
Finally the last two things to discuss are towing in the bet
for the former
We're looking at 9300 pounds of capacity with this 5.3 liter v8 crew cab, since the max trailering package is not available here
The rating would be 100 pounds less with a 6.2 liter
and
As far as the tailgate
It is remote releasing and easy lower and once it falls down you can get in easily with the integrated bumper step
The bet itself is made from high-strength steel and you have 12 different tie-downs each rated for 500 pounds
LED lighting and a household power outlet
Anyways guys that's it for the exterior. So now let's check out the inside before taking it out for a drive
So on the trail boss silverado you do have Chevrolet smart entry system as well as their remove start system
And then we're walking out to the vehicle itself, there is no sense of repairing the handle so you just press the little silver button
All right, so taking our first look inside the 2020 trail boss Silverado
What you'll notice as the cabin is pretty much the same as it is on the other trim levels, though
The interior does come with a couple different configurations. You start out with the bench seating
However, we have opted to have the bucket seats
And then you've got a couple different options. You have jet black or Gideon gray color schemes
The standard seat is cloth. However, we have the optional leather
Now turning over here to your door trim, it is nicely appointed
We do have a soft touch armrest with the stitching detail and it is soft touch above it as well
And we do have this kind of wood
carbon fiber looking trim
As far as your windows, the drivers is One Touch auto up and down, the others are auto down
And then checking out these seats here these are the 10-way power
Adjusting seats. These are also optional and you'll come standard with a 4-way manual seat
Now as the trail boss we're looking at a 2-inch lift, so this is a pretty tall truck
However, we do have a nice running board along the bottom here and a driver side assist grip
So getting in is actually pretty easy now
Of course this is just one year removed from a full redesign
So you will notice all that stuff will carry over for 2020 including upgraded cabinetry
Now across your upper dash here you do have a hard touch plastic but all through this area you have a leatherette material
As far as down on the lower areas, we've got more of that
Trim and then this stuff is hard touch. However, everything does fit together really well and feels very solid
Now standard on trail show boss you do have push-button start
That's taking a look at your gauges here this is the analog setup
So you do have the gauges at the top as well as the 4.2 inch multifunction display
This does have all the same information as the fancier 7 inch display version that comes on the higher-end trims
Then coming back to the steering wheel it is nicely leather wrapped on all of the trail bosses, even the ones with cloth seating
However on this specific one. We do have the optional heating
As far as the wheel itself it is always manual tilt and telescoping
Now let's go ahead and talk about storage since that is one of the main reasons you're gonna get a truck that's this big
Silverado is gonna have you covered so you've got this little area on top of the center console
Of course, the console itself like every truck is absolutely massive. You can fit just about anything in here
You do have a regular USB a USB type-c and an aux jack inside
Up in front of that
You've got two big cupholders and then you have another gigantic vent right through here storage along the side
Of course, you have storage and the doors and you even have storage up here on the top. So you have storage pretty much everywhere
And one of the reasons that is true is because
We have a column mounted shifter. This of course is on every single Silverado
And you can't shift manually with these little toggles if you want to of course
Like all the other Silverados the buttons that used to be down here on the end here like your tomo
Those are relocated over here
So you've got your different your tow mode as well as your other drive modes with this knob your four-wheel drive controls right through here
You also have your headlight and bed lighting controls right there
Now turning into reverse here, of course you are going to have a standard backup camera
However on this specific example, this is the optional HD version which comes in the convenience package
So it's just going to look a little bit crisper. You do have your trailering
view as well and the ability to line up your trailer and your active trajectory and then a
360-degree camera system that's going to be reserved for the higher-end trips
There is also an electronic parking brake located right over there
Now as far as the controls that are located right here you do have another USB type-c standard USB 12-volt outlet
And then on this
Specific example we have the household outlet that's part of the convenience to package
Of course, we've got our trailer brake controller right here. And we do have a row of other buttons located right here
Now checking out the climate control this obviously is the dual zone automatic setup
It does not come standard on the trail boss. You actually have a manual setup that comes standard, but this is optional
Obviously, you've got three big knobs to control most of the functions and then all the other things are located physically, right?
Here we do also have the three-stage seat heating and of course in typical Chevy fashion
You can choose to heat your back and butt separately
All right, so now that brings us up here to our audio system
Just like many of the things in this vehicle. You start out with the basic six speaker sound system
however, since this one here has about
$10,000 of options
We do have the upgraded seven speaker Bose sound system with a sub woofer. So let's go ahead and take example of that
Overall sound quality definitely seems very strong and very bass heavy
Okay, so that brings us here to our Chevy infotainment 3 system
What you're looking at is the 8 inch display. This is standard on the trail boss
And we do have the upgraded system, which I'll get into in just a second
We also have standard apple carplay and android auto but you will not find integrated navigation on this model
Now I'm now going to go into a whole bunch of details about this system because we do have a dedicated
tech help video available
For those of you who want to learn more about it a link to that detailed video is in the video description
Now moving on up here we just have a manual dimming mirror
And you will also notice that here on this example, we actually are lacking a moonroof, that's a
$995 option
So that would be an additional charge
Going back here. I do want to point out that we have home-like universal remotes, even though we don't have a always aiming mirror
And you will notice this button here. This is not for the moonroof
Obviously since we're lacking it, this is for the optional power rear window
But anyways guys that is going to sum up the front areas of this Silverado trail boss
Now go ahead and hand it off to my brother Mason who will head out to the back areas
Now turning and looking at the rear door trim of the Silverado trail boss it is nicely designed
So you do have all this area with the stitching as well as on the armrest
Some more trim and down below that of course, this is a truck. So you do have a lot of door storage
Now here in the center the Silverado does give you two cupholders at the top a little storage bin in between and
underneath of that you will also find standard where air vents on this model as well as a
Regular charging USB a USB type-c in addition to a 12-volt power outlet. These are actually standard equipment
and turning over you do have a fold-down armrest just have cup holders inside some more storage and
Up top you do have some Headroom cutouts, your coat hook and some LED lighting
Now as far as the leg room is concerned the Silverado trail boss is only available in the crew cab
Configuration so that of course means that you are going to have a ton of space
The technical measurement comes in at forty three point four inches of rear legroom and forty inches of rear headroom
Which does place it on par with
Many in the class like the f-150. It's almost identical to that. However, it is a little bit behind the new RAM
But besides that, you know in terms of space behind your seating position
I have probably I would say at least a foot if not more of
Space between my knees in the seat back and my feet can easily sign up underneath the seat. It's fantastically spacious back here
They're looking at the seats themselves, of course they are very
utilitarian here in the Silverado
So behind the actual seat cushion itself, you do have the signature feature of a little bit of storage
So you just pull this strap and that
does reveal
actually a pretty decent amount of storage space you could definitely hide a lot of stuff back there if you didn't want it seem and
Of course, you can also just lift the seat up and then that will reveal
Even more storage spaces down here. So as you can see it goes all the way across the floor
You could definitely fit a lot of stuff back here
And if you folded both seats up, you could definitely store something a larger maybe a lawnmower
Bicycles, whatever you need back there in case it's raining and you don't want to put it in the bed
and
Also in addition to that you can't also fold the seats down with that
Looking at the passenger seat. It is manually adjusting even on this model
And in front of the passenger you do have the signature two-part opening glove box
So you have a little storage right up here storage down below that
Definitely lots of storage spaces in the Silverado
And up top. You do have a Sun Visor with
Mirror, however, there is not lights on this model
Now it does also detach as well as extend
But anyway guys that sums up all the features of this Silverado trail boss now
Let's go ahead and take it out on the road and see how it drives compared to its competition
All right, so getting up to speed here in the 2020 silverado trail boss
This is the 5.3 liter v8 and power
Definitely feels very good
Looking at
355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque
It definitely feels more than adequate for this type of truck, makes good sounds too
you would think it'd be almost a little bit sluggish a sluggish, you know with a giant truck like this
You know how giant this trail boss is but you know taking off from that was about what 0 to 60
Definitely did not have any issues and this is the base engine
That's right. Very important for 2020
We you can now choose to get the 6.2 liter v8, which you know
A lot of people would be interested in that was previously reserved for just your high country, I believe
So now you can get that on this cool-looking Trail Boss
420 horsepower
460 pound-feet of torque
So some serious series performance. We have driven it in the both the high country and
Denali Sierra and
Definitely this great engine a great engine
Even more powerful than this and even better sounds
And now that we're just here at cruising speed I do want to talk about this cars ride quality and overall this ride experience
This car is very this truck is very very quiet
You know
One of the things that I'm noticing is that there's really not too much difference from this model to like the high country
From what I remember
Really with these full-size Silverados. They all just ride really nicely
And you're gonna have a lot of comfort a lot of space
And also, you know with the LT Trail Boss, we were I don't know if we mentioned it in the actual exterior portion
But it is raised 2 inches and you can definitely feel that in your driving dynamic
What Drew mentioned earlier was that it kind of feels like driving almost like the heavy duty version the Silverado
Yeah, and so you are getting that extremely commanding presence here in this LT trail bostrom
I have to drive them back to back
just to know for sure but
I'm thinking that there's a little bit more tire noise on this just for having the off-road worthy tires
All right, so let's go ahead and talk about the transmission situation now, this is one of the things that has changed for 2020
And that's the chevy is now giving you the 10 speed automatic transmission
paired with this 5.3 liter v8
Previously you had the 8-speed automatic
but now in
2020 for just this
Just this Trail Boss LT Trail Boss and the high country those the only two trims where the ten-speed will now be added
With the 5.3 liter v8
The 10 speed automatic was already on the 6.2 to so that does continue on for 2020
That being said definitely a very smooth transmission as we've experienced in the past
It basically shifts its you can't tell at all I mean it's very very smooth
No hesitation
Doesn't seem confused or anything like that
Now will you know, I've noticed a big difference from with the eight-speed last year? I
Don't know
you have to drive them back to back but
nevertheless
Definitely still good that you're getting the latest and greatest from Chevrolet here on the trail boss and
Now also worth noting is that this trail boss trim is only available in four-wheel drive
So that means the fuel economy for this trim level is going to come in at 16 city 21 highway
18 combined for the 5.3 liter engine and the 6.2 liter has actually not been rated
For this trim level, so I'll be curious to see how much of a drop that is. From what I remember
I don't think it's too big of a penalty. I was I believe it's one combined
Yeah that dropped from like the rst with the same engine
So they might expect something similar, with the trail boss equipment added to the 6.2
Now last thing I wanted to mention is just the steering setup here in the Silverado, I really like the way this is set up
It has a really pleasant
combination of lightness but also
It responds accurately. There's no dead spots
And you do have a good sense of where the wheels are placed. Which overall like I said is very
Important for a big truck like this, you know that you have a sense of of what's going on
While also still being light enough that it's easy to maneuver around at low speeds
But on all the driving characteristics of this trail boss are very pleasant
Like Mason had hit on there's really not a huge difference between this and the
High country the rsd the other silver autos we've driven
And that's a good thing. It just has a
Pleasant driving dynamic, it's it's just easy to live with
Even for someone who's used to driving a sedan like myself
and you know all in all I think it
Definitely is a good overall package being tough looking at all, but still driving
in a polite way
All righty
And now that you've seen the attractive package that the trail boss has let's go ahead and discuss the pricing of that model
So you can go for what we have here
Which is the 5.3 liter LT and that's going to start at forty eight thousand five hundred dollars now newly offered as a 6.2 liter
engine option and that's going to be fifty thousand nine hundred ninety five and
As with pretty much any truck, we do have quite a few options selected on this model
So we have the convenience package with bucket seats for one thousand five hundred and eighty dollars
the convenience package too for fourteen hundred and twenty
We also have the leather package for nine eighty five the safety package one four eight
Ninety, the black assist steps for seven fifty the bed protection package for six eighty five
Advanced trailering package for four ninety. And then when you add the destination charge of one thousand five hundred and ninety five dollars
You're going to come in at fifty six thousand eight hundred ninety five, which is a pretty good value for the Silverado lineup
It does pretty much situate it in the middle of the pack price wise
you can definitely get some that are almost seventy grand as well as cheaper ones, of course since it is a
available work truck
Well guys we've been good watching the first in-depth look at the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss

ULTIMATE V8 MUSCLE -- 2019 Chevy Camaro SS vs. 2019 Ford Mustang GT: Comparison

ULTIMATE V8 MUSCLE -- 2019 Chevy Camaro SS vs. 2019 Ford Mustang GT: Comparison

Car Confections:

Few automotive rivalries are as intense and hard fought as Mustang versus Camaro
These two have been trading blows almost
continuously for over 50 years straight and
After all that fighting the question of which one is superior is still very much up in the air
So today while we probably won't change the mind of any Mustang or Camaro fanboys out there
For the rest of you, we will hopefully provide some insight into this question
So with all that said let's see which American muscle car is most deserving of your hard earned money
Now no muscle car is truly at its best until it has a giant V8 under the hood so that's exactly what we've got
Starting out with the Mustang
We have the loaded GT premium, which gets you some of the luxury features in addition to the raw performance. It starts out at
39,000
$355 and from there
We have the 10 speed automatic safety package spare tire and navigation system
all told with destination the total rings end at
$44145
For the refreshed Camaro the equivalent loaded trim is the 2 SS which starts off at 42,000 bucks even
We have several additional options onboard including the 10 speed automatic transmission
navigation and the white interior accent package
Additionally, we do have the performance exhaust system that the Mustang is missing
So while you will get to hear it for fairness, we won't be counting
There for all said and done it's total rings in at forty five thousand two hundred eighty dollars with destination
That place is our price difference it just a touch over a grand
So to make up for that small price gap will start the Mustang off with one point per $1,000 or one point
So now that we've established the basis, let's get into the heart of the comparison
When it comes to these two by far the most important part is under the hood
Both continue to have the same massive v8
6.2 liters in the Camaro and five liters in the Mustang
Despite the displacement deference. The horsepower output is nearly identical at
455 versus 460 horsepower
The torque gap however is more significant at 455 pound feet for Camaro to 420 for this thing
as
Far as the transmissions the refreshed Camaro now has the exact same GM Ford
Co-developed in speed automatic as in the Mustang
Of course, you can't still get a six-speed manual in both if you prefer, but the majority of people will still go for the automatic
Now let's go ahead and hear those awesome start ups and exhaust
So moving into the driving impressions, let me preface by saying that I know we're near tested the limits of these two vehicles
They are extremely capable and you really need a racetrack to get a full sense of their maximum potential
Nevertheless both are still extremely enjoyable at legal speeds
The steering is a laser fast acceleration is instantaneous and the exhaust sounds are out of this world
Both are more like sports cars than they have ever been in the past and that is definitely a good thing
Finally for your fuel economy. The result is a little surprising
the smaller displacement engine in the Mustang still delivers worse
Mpg at 19 combined versus 20 combined in the Camaro which is probably due to the cylinder deactivation
Anyways now, let's get to comparing the outside styling and features
Now for the most part I try to keep subjectivity out of these comparisons, but I will look in the front and rear styling overall
Starting with the Mustang its styling is unchanged from its refreshed last year
So it continues to have a good mix of both classic and modern design cues
The grille is wide and aggressive filled in with a black mesh
The Camaro on the other hand has changed. Well a lot from last year
chevy has moved to a new Transformers theme for the face and
While controversial I will say that it does look better in person than in pictures
They pair that new face with new LED headlights which extend into the grille for a really cool look
Going back to the Mustang it too has cool-looking full LED headlights
Plus it also has LED fog lights where the camaro only has an accent light
So overall the Mustangs gonna take the front point
in
The rear though, there's really no big advantage one way or the other
They both have great looking designs punctuated by LED tail lights and quad exhaust
However, I will give the Camaro a half-point since it does have a standard large spoiler versus the small one on the Stang
Another place where the Camaro gives you more standard equipment is the wheels
This 18 inch alloy is the standard wheel on every GT
whereas this 20 inch alloy is the standard wheel on every SS and
then as far as your brakes the Camaro also gives you standard brim bows as
Opposed to the Mustang where you have to opt for the performance package to get them
Heading up to the mirrors Camaro again wins by giving the owner both auto dimming and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
But things start to fall apart a bit for Camaro when it comes to all the rest of the safety systems
Our Mustang has the safe in smart package which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
adaptive cruise control Lane Keeping Assist and auto high beam headlights
By comparison all the Camaro has is passive forward collision warning
No matter how you equip it
And as far as the warranties go they are exactly the same except the Chevy gives you one free complimentary service visit
Finishing things off at the fuel tank
There is a huge difference between the two
the Camaro has a nineteen gallon fuel tank while the Mustang only has 16 gallons and
That does therefore mean that with its superior mileage
The Camaro has 380 miles of range compared to only 304 in the Ford
Well that wraps up everything to talk about on the outside, so now let's go ahead and see if the interiors are as closely matched
Getting inside both have smart entry as well as key fobs that include remote start
After opening up the doors the cabins look very different from each other
Our Camaro has the ceramic white leather interior and the Mustang a simple black leather interior
But other colors are obviously available in regards to the seats themselves
The Mustang has six way power seats with two-way lumbar what it's lacking any type of power back adjustment
While the Camaro has eight wave power seats, but is lacking any kind of lumbar adjustment
Both are also heated and ventilated. So the tiebreaker is the two-person memory on the Chevy
Once inside even though the designs are very different materials are pretty similar
The Mustangs upper dash is all soft touch with stitching and then all through the middle is a faux aluminum trim
On the Camaro the top portion is actually hard touch. But all the middle portion is leather rat with contrast stitching
The knee and armrests are also leather padded
There is however a bigger difference with the door trims
The Camaro simply has more leather and best of all a very large piece of real aluminum trim
Overall, it's got the more premium cabin
Press the button to start both models
After you do you'll see eight inch high-resolution displays fire up
But then looking at the gauges only the Camaro comes standard with reconfigurable digital gauges
To be fair. They are also available on the Mustang but that would have required an additional
$2,200 package
And in addition to that Camaro has a head-up display that is not available on the Mustang no matter what
Coming back to the steering wheels both have pleasingly heavy electric power steering and attractive leather wrap wheels
Only the Camaros is heated
Next up we have storage which of course neither of these two have very much of but among them. The Mustang is better
Its center console is both wider and deeper plus it's got another tiny area up front. The Chevy doesn't have
Both models have Powell shifters backup cameras with trajectory and parking sensors
Coming up to the climate both our dual zone automatic
The Camaro setup definitely looks cooler. But at the same time the rim can heat up enough to burn you
So the Mustangs is more practical
Now let's go ahead and compare the Mustangs new Bang & Olufsen sound system to the Camaro
I
Know the audio samples don't necessarily reflect it, but the Mustang system has a bit more punch and
Now that brings us to the infotainment systems
Starting with the Ford we have the latest version of sync 3
This continues to be a very easy system to use with shortcuts at the bottom and a home screen
We also have integrated navigation, but if you don't want to pay for that Android auto and apple carplay our standard
Moving to the Camaro. It was updated with the newest Chevy infotainment 3 system this year
The new layout is similar to sync 3, but I did find that this system has snappier overall performance
The optional navigation system has great-looking graphics, but again both Android auto and apple carplay are standard
Honestly, both our excellent systems, and there's really not enough difference to award any points
Up top both have auto dimming mirrors and universal remotes, but the Camaro's has an extra trick
To compensate for the poor visibility. It has a rear camera mirror that completely cuts out all obstructions
Finally neither model has a moonroof though. You can optionally Camaro if you want
Now checking out the back seats the actual measurements are not real meaningful since they are measured as if though a midget we're driving
But as far as real world feel for my 5' 8" body, the Mustang is definitely more accommodating
My hair only barely grazes the glass instead of being pressed against it and the Mustang seats are buckets
Moving onto cargo capacity the Ford has a significant advantage
It comes in at 13 and a half cubic feet versus only nine point three in the Camaro
Plus it seats full 50/50 split versus all in one piece
Well, that's pretty much it for this really close comparison video as you can probably tell by now
They are more similar than different. So it's really gonna come down to your personal preference
We strongly suggest doing yourself a favor and checking them both out in person
Anyways, thanks for joining us for another car confections face off comparison
