Steve Hammes New Car Reviews:

While the compact and 3-row SUV segment has
been growing by leaps and bounds, this 5-passenger
midsize type has been getting squeezed out.
But with our insatiable appetite for utility
vehicles these too are on the comeback. This
is the all-new Blazer.
When we last saw it a decade and 5 cogs ago,
the TrailBlazer was an American-built, body-on-frame
sport utility whose key competitors included
the Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango…models
that’ve since moved on to the 3-row arena.
Having its name pruned once again to simply
Blazer, this 2019 Mexican-made reboot weighs
nearly 300-pounds less, now arranges its 6-cylinders
in a V formation, produces more horsepower
but less torque and improves MPGs by over
30%; collectively, a microcosm of the industry’s
evolution during its 10-year hiatus.
Similar in length, wheelbase and ground clearance
to the TrailBlazer before it, the new Blazer
is marked by daring design and robust levels
of technology.  This one here is the sporty
RS trim with a host of distinguishing traits
and blacked-out features that lend it a Camaro-like
persona.  Not for the introverted, the Blazer
RS is a visually stunning specimen with a
futuristic patina and crazy 20” Dark Android
wheels.  So you see it and think it’s going
to be all spicy and sonorous, but in reality
it’s soothing and serene.
The Blazer’s design says racy but this SUV
is more of a teddy bear, with the headline
being quiet and soft.  This RS trim is all
about style and the V6 is very strong but
the Blazer coddles its occupants with automatic
everything and technology that doesn’t fight
you.  For something that looks this cool
though there’s not a lot of excitement here. Over
300 horsepower produces some torque steer
when you step on it and while the 9-speed
is typically very smooth there is one exception;
in stop and go traffic it tends to lurch ahead
as you slow down and start again…something
GM should address with a software update because
it sullies an otherwise pleasing experience.
Though a large one - this is the Blazer’s
only real gaffe and it seems like something
that could be addressed with a software update.
This V6 can be found in over a dozen current
GM products and here it’s rated at 308 horsepower
and 270 pound-feet of torque so acceleration
feels more than adequate and the all-wheel
drive system is the one utilized in recent
Buicks - sourced from driveline supplier GKN,
it incorporates torque vectoring technology
to help steer the vehicle making on-road performance
more stable and dynamic as well as enhancing
off-road capabilities. Plus, it makes the
setup more fuel-efficient by providing an
AWD disconnect; driver selectable when not
needed.  Other modes include Sport, Off-Road
and Tow that affect steering effort, shifting,
torque distribution and traction control with
a simple twist of the knob.  And I’m all
about the Blazer’s forgiving, compliant
suspension tune and hushed, Buick-like cabin
while at the same time appreciating its gutsy
motor and precise yet relaxed drive.
On a cool day like this as soon as I fire
it up my heated seat and steering wheel automatically
go into action. I like the simplicity of the
controls and the intuitive use of technology.
And the Blazer has a healthy dose of that
with wireless device charging, WiFi hotspot,
the Marketplace feature that provides convenient
access to a number of food and service vendors,
the safety alert seat that vibrates the bottom
in the direction of potential dangers, the
customizable gauge display, air vents that
double as thermostats, auto high beams and
dynamic radar cruise control. But the look
and feel of it all doesn’t match it’s
over $48k price tag.
The RS AWD is priced from just under $45,000
while other less adorned trims with 4-cylinder
power start in the low $30s.  With everything
you see here including the Cadillac-esque
rearview camera mirror, MSRP is $48,270 and
in that lofty air I just need a little more
luxury in the presentation.  I also need
a 360 degree camera button that’s not buried
within the touchscreen.  And heck, might
as well throw in a heads-up display.
The rear seats benefit from tilt and slide
functionality as well as a flat floor so 5-passenger
accommodations it truly is.  There’re also
heated with additional USB ports.  A panoramic
roof is optional.  And then in the back,
the bowtie projection automatically triggers
as you approach to show you precisely where
the foot activated sensor is, and cargo management
is more thoughtful with a sliding divider,
lots of cubbies, underfloor storage and remote
levers to the drop the rear seats.
Bigger than the Equinox and smaller than the
Traverse, the Blazer fleshes out Chevy’s
SUV lineup with a boldly-styled yet quietly
composed midsized comeback.

The Truth About the New Chevy Blazer

The Truth About the New Chevy Blazer

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines,
are they really bringing back the
blazer what do you think of that, I
didn't think much of the last ones they
made there were really junky I had
customers with them they fell apart the
transmissions went out the AC went out
the electronics went out they weren't
very well built vehicles so I would have
no promise for them coming out with a in
quotes new one GM quality control
products aren't that great anymore
I wouldn't waste my money on
them and if you're thinking about
getting one, wait until their three or four
years old and see how they held out cuz
I wouldn't trust anything new that
anyone makes them especially not General
Motors, Auto Paul Joseph Scotty what's
the worst mod you ever saw
on a customer's car this guy turned a
Chevy Tahoe into a lowrider
so it would straight the bottom when he
went over to speed bumps and he put
those low profile tires and Houston here
they got a lot of potholes front of
roads lots of battles he kept wiping out
the tires and the rims cuz they were a
low profile and I told him I said look
you got this heavy vehicle low to the
ground with these low profile tires and
of course they were those giant ones I
don't remember how many 20-some inch
rims they were they cost a fortune and
it kept all breaking on him, the only
reason that he didn't care was cause he
didn't even own the rims he went to a
rent to own, well when you do the
rent to own rims you got to pay for
insurance so he kept getting them for
free because he paid for the insurance
every time it broke he took her back on
the tire place and they put a new one on
free so it was paying a ton for them
anyways but he kept getting new ones
didn't care of it every time I work on
that thing and driving around when you
hit a bump I felt like the fillings on
my teeth we're gonna fall out it rode
so bad, John brow says Jordan
Charles roots Scotty a can too tight of
a timing belt cause your engine to make
whining noises, well of
course it can if you found out you had a
timing belt job done you got it back and
it starts whining and driving weird take
it back I mean if it's too tight it can
make the bearings wear out it'll start
whiny and then of course the bearings
will break faster
and if it's an interference engine it'll
destroy your engine and if it is too
tight, he could have gotten so tight that
when he tightened it then it moved the
sprocket maybe one tooth one tooth off
is enough to make a car run weird if
that all happened after you had a timing
belt done definitely take it in now they
can't make themselves too tight by
themselves so if you didn't even have
the engine touched and it started doing
that who knows it could be just the fan
belt and you got a bearing going the
alternator or something but if work was
done on to take it back immediately to
whoever did it, the real 69 I got an 01 Hyundai
SantaFe, my front rims
always getting black dirt what's the
cause, well it's not black dirt it's brake
pad dust cheap brake pads do that they
wear out faster and then the dust gets
on the rim take off the brake pads off
and put on Akebono pads
I put those on they don't make any noise
they don't leave dust all over the place
all of them leave a little bit of dust
here and there you gotta clean up every
once in a while it's a dirty world out
there, but you're getting brake pad dust
from bad brake pads are just too
cheaply made and they're shedding the
material too fast that's the problem so
try some Akebono brake pads, brandon
says what's your opinion on Saturn cars
well they originally were an interesting
idea GM branched off
strange enough one of my old
customers was a guy who was the head of
the Saturn advertising stuff he was in
Houston then he moves to San Francisco
and he set all that up and he drove BMW
so I met yeah and they were ok cars in
the beginning but then GM gets involved
in a lot of stuff and then they stopped
making them because in the end their
quality control was bad and people saw it
was and we're buying the cars anymore
and that was the end of that but if you
bought an older one with the standard
transmission, now some of those are still
running around pretty good, but they went
into the electronic controlled automatic
transmissions later that were garbage
and I tell the costumer you know junk
the car when the transmission went out they
said why I said cuz it's gonna cost you
thirty five hundred and forty five
hundred to fix the computer transmission and
I'm not making this up if you wanted
fixed right and I'd say your car's only
worth a thousand bucks why would you put
it in so they junked those things but
with a standard some of them could still
run, it was just another General Motors failure,
zen says hey people how reliable is a
1983 Volkswagen Rabbit, I had a friend
that bought one of those new, well his
father bought it for him for a
graduation present, he drove the heck out
of it and had it for years and years and
years and years, Volkswagen made better
vehicles back in those days that was a
long time ago 37 years ago that's a long
time that's off you can get it cheap and
it still runs especially if it's a
standard transmission you want a toy go
right ahead but if the guy selling it
and says, oh this has all been restored
blah blah blah and he wants a ton of
money walk away from it because they're
not worth anything they're not
collector's items by any stretch of the
imagination, so if you never want to miss
another one of my new car repair videos,
remember to ring that Bell

Consumer Reports:

[MUSIC PLAYING]
Dormant for over a decade,
the Chevrolet Blazer
returns for 2019, but
with a more modern focus
on tech and convenience
features rather than ruggedness.
As one of the OG sport
utility vehicles,
the Blazer created a lasting
impact on the American market.
It was truck-based,
and it was big.
This iteration contains
a few callbacks
to that heritage with lots
of aggressive styling,
but also stands out
for its sporty touches
that will separate it from other
mid-sized SUVs on the road.
The interior continues the
stylish vibe with many premium
touches, like the
padded dashboard
with handsome stitching.
However, cheap plastic
on the doorsill
does detract from
the upscale vibe.
The center stack includes a
standard 8-inch touchscreen,
with buttons and knobs
for common functions.
The Blazer sports GM's most
recent infotainment system,
which we found easy to
navigate, and includes
Android Auto and Apple
CarPlay compatibility.
A flat floor greets
passengers in the rear seats,
although they might
find the space slightly
tight for this size SUV.
Thankfully, there's ample
room in the cargo area
for whatever you're hauling.
We found the sloping
roof lining back
had a big impact on
visibility, though,
with large rear pillars
blocking much of the view.
This makes the inclusion
of a surround-view camera
a welcome addition.
Other high-tech touches
include a live look
out of the rear camera
in your rearview mirror,
which you can easily disengage
if you find it distracting.
Driving the Blazer in open
road and on our track,
our first impressions found
it to have competent handling
and a firm control ride.
It's quite civilized, feeling
much like a modern SUV
than the old Blazer.
Our car has the 3.6-liter
V6 paired to a nine-speed
automatic.
Transmission works well,
complementing the engine's
smooth power delivery.
That also bodes well for the
Blazer's 4,500-pound towing
capacity.
We also added leather trim,
which includes blind spot
warning and rear
cross-traffic alert,
but conspicuously lacks forward
collision warning and automatic
emergency braking--
disappointing given the
over $40,000 sticker price.
Through and through, this is
a new Blazer for a new era.
But can this
sleeker design carry
the torch of its fondly
remembered predecessors?
We'll know more once we put
it through our full battery
of tests here at our track.

2020 Chevy Blazer Premier Review - (Best Family SUV?)

Carfluent:

All right, stay on carpet
We're gonna be reviewing the 2020 blazer premier all-wheel drive and we're gonna start with the interior right now
All right, let's get inside this 2020 blazer premiere this baby is nice check out the dashboard
They've got this light there's different. There's multi tone here on the dashboard, which is really nice
You get the dark black up here with a Bose speaker
And you've got a little bit lighter black and then right here. You've got the brown leather
So this has got some nice little stitching here that goes across the top. It's a little bit lighter color
So it's like an accent that's real. Nice. You've got some silver trim that goes around
You've also got another accent piece of leather right here. So this is really classy looking
This is a very nice interior of this 2020 blazer
Come across here. We're gonna start over here on my side
What do you think about this L mean? This has got a nice. I mean the leather wrapped steering wheel. It's heated
It's heated up right now. It's nice and warm because it's cold out here right now
Chevy emblem right here in the middle. You look at the controls. It's pretty standard on most cars
You've got the heated steering wheel here
You've got your gauges here for your cruise control your resume and your set your voice commands
This is for your speakers up and down. You've got your telephone assistance here
So if you want to use the hands-free telephone, that's right here check out the dashboard right up here
Look at the gauges, you've got your temperature controls. You've got your miles per hour right in the middle
It's a real nice digital display super crisp and clear looking. Yeah, that looks really nice. I like how that looks
Yeah, check out. Well, here's your start/stop engine right here on the top
So this one's remote start and you got your button right there
Alright, so if you come down here, you've got your normal controls your turn signals your wipers. You've got your
Left turn signal your right turn signal all that's normal on the left side
Check out these air vents. These are pretty unique. They look awesome. What do you think about those help me?
You know, I like those a lot. Those are just like the ones in the Camaro
I don't know if you have noticed that that has the same sack ones
Yeah, these are cool because if you look here they've got the cool. So if you turn it
It cools the temperature down automatically in
267. Yep
If I go over to the right
It's gonna change that temperature and it also on the 8 inch display. It shows it up here on the top
So it shows you on the top man in the bottom two, so both sides
Yeah, and it's been it's both passenger and driver side. So this is heated seats. It's actually heated seats in the rear as well
so this is this is really nice this sucker this
2020 blazer premiere goes for
$42,000 this one we're actually in right now has a few more options. So this one's at 51,000. Give me the camera elleny
I'll let you talk about the center console already then so as we're here in this beautiful Chevy Blazer this interiors is
Awesome, as I was telling Keith, you know
I love the air vents just because just it just looks just like the Camaro air vents. So those look pretty nice very sporty
Look, they gave it when they did these large air vents
You know, what do you think about the USB ports right there? You know, I like how they put it right in the center
I wish they would add a 2 for you know, the fries the passenger and driver
But yeah, I - I agree with you only - right on the outside. We'd been awesome
There are two more underneath the center console which we will show you that
- right here would have been really nice. That way. You just have the wires going to the passenger
They only do one since they have you know, they have the charging pad down, right? So they
Person has a smartphone
Going through your phone up here l mean we can see how the charging station that's a hands-free station and I tell you what
There's charging. Yeah, that's awesome. I tell you what, we like the location of it. It's really handy. It's easy to grab
We did the Corsair the Lincoln chorus air review and that was actually in the glove box
It was hard to get to if you guys want to see that video
You guys should go up here to click right here. And then you will see that for the alright
Let's check out the rest of it so ice. We're here in the centers. You see we have the different modes
we have the two wheel drives of all wheel drive and all that if
Ketta, you can get up you appear of that console right here. Yep, so he's gonna change the modes when we change the most so
Right there wheel drive mom now we go to sport mode
So it doesn't do much of a different with this plate that this play stays the same. Yeah
It's not a real fancy graphic or anything up there, but it tells you mojo right Orion
I wish that when you lets you turn it down. So I wish when you turn the Moe's go and turn it
Right here, see how it lights up. So I will tell you guys one thing
It's kind of slow on the response. If you I don't know if you see when I click it
It takes a second to switch mo. So as you can see it takes that
Good five seconds to change the mode into another. They also have the parkas drivers lane assistance is right there
Yep
And also has the purposes so I mean has really nice things
Right here on the shift handle as you see they integrated the little Chevy logo
Got the stitching that goes right down the sides very nice. That's one of my favorite part on this interior
I love how they have the
Stitching that just is way much brighter on the center right here on the armrest as you see we have like this way
type
Yeah, that material the suede material goes right down the side right in the center
Just like a little you know there you're adding just to make him. Yeah little details
That's very nice. What counts it's the details the small details will make this car a little bit nicer the way definitely, you know
The center console right here. We have a really nice amount of space
We have a USB plug and you know, you have your memory card and all that. Got your
Right there. You've got a mini USB the SD card and your USB port right there, right?
It's a lot of room right there. You know you guys
Premiere I was like, where's the globe us how you open it? I don't know if Keith can get a closer view of this
It's very seamless which is pretty cool there's no big grooves in it. There's no handles
We've done a couple reviews where there's a button right here, but they're right here
And then you see this right here glove box so I clicked that very quick response I opens right away
So my lights very nice. They put it right there right next to you know your
Your traction traction control. Yeah, so
Then right here, let's get into the eight inch HD screen here. You know, I bought I grabbed that camera key
Can you show them a little bit more about that? Let's do it. All righty, then
All righty kids so you want to show them a little bit this play and this chevy blazer premium is 2020
So, this is a 2020 model. This is the
HD 8-inch screen, it's got your audio controls here. It's very responsive. I didn't mean to touch it there, but it's switch
Pretty quick down here in the bottom. You've got your home
You've got your phone if you want to make a phone call, you got to call your girlfriend. It's also got navigation control
So look at the map right there the map it's very nice and clean or Emily crisp. You got your Wi-Fi
So this is a 4G
Wi-Fi
password that your phone technically to a hotspot
If you don't touch the screen, you can click the home button. It'll take you back to keep a credit
We've got your seat controls right here. So you can turn up your fans and all that you got your temperature. It's very responsive
I mean it it changes instantly as I change this stuff. There's also if you swipe it, there's more app
so you got your apps you get your
My Chevy so gives you all that information it takes a couple seconds to load
Accept the terms just a brand new car don't wanna mess it up for somebody else
Music I mean, it's a super nice display. It's right in the middle. It's really crisp
I like it a lot already to keep the bow. We check up the top and you show them what we get
This is pretty cool
I love the newer models ears of the the 20 most cars now are coming out with especially the 20 20 miles
You got the normal mirror, okay
So this is an HD mayor which when you flip it it shows up your back backup camera there in the back
I mean that is just super detailed
I don't know how it's showing up on the camera
But when I'm just looking at it
It is super very clear and you can watch the cars are just going back and forth behind us. That's fantastic
I like that very much
Normal star you've got your LED lights here. You've got your garage opener
You got your sunglass holder there so that's all kind of standard
This model here doesn't have a sunroof. But hey, I'm excited to check out the backseat. But before that I'm gonna grab the camera
I'm gonna let you show us the door panels. All right. Yeah, that sounds very let's do that
Alright, so we just switch seas here and Elmi was messing around with the rear view camera here. Good Sean what you found?
Oh, just messin with this. Oh right down here
I don't know if you guys can see that's kind of hard to see but we got these three little buttons right here
Where you can switch how bright the rear of your camera is and all that just by clicking
So, I don't know if you can see it got brighter there, but you clearly the other way it gets darker
So I like how you can do that. That's very nice
So Keaton, I just switch sides and I would just wanted to show you guys on this side
We have the memory seats, but also you click this thing every since your whole seat. So wherever you were at as you can see
Even yeah, even your it's a got a power adjust steering wheel, which is pretty cool
Whoever is the driver, so either one or two. So yeah, hit it again
If you go back to number one, the steering wheel went up
Yeah, so that's for driver one and you gotta go to number two. I mean, yeah, it's got three settings
So you have three different drivers, but if you click to the third button every sets everything for you to you know
Redo and the door handle right here. You know we have the you move your mirrors around
I'm full and
Unlock whatever you got with that down here. We have the power gate
So buy a click of a button you open the power wiki which we will show you a little bit when we get back
Yeah in the settings cool because you're gonna you can have it so that it just sets
Three-quarters of the way or full open, you know
usually we have the
Emergency parking sensor somewhere on the center and some SUV or sometimes we have it down on the side
But this one right here, we have it right up in the corner at your left side
Yeah right here and check out the bows. So yeah, we have this Bolger's audio
System you have a nice sound quality system and the interior
This also has the noise cancellation really nice really nice and you know, and I was talking about the suede again
And I just noticed that we get that I'm the both friends seats and the rear seat if you see right here
I don't know if you can get a closer look here. So you're gonna get a nice way and not to forget
Yeah, you got a suede here
And then it also has the nice lighter stitching just like the dashboard and it continues all
All the way around the seat all the way up, you know
And I don't know if you can show them on the door panel right there. We have the nice clear
I don't know what to call that right there. So you got the this is like a black
This is a glass finish here around the top here
So that's nice and it goes into the stainless steel door handle another stainless steel feature right here you go down with the stitching
Right there Bose speakers like a lot of storage and the soap and doors. Yep the map so they've got a cell phone
This is a rubber grip right here so you can put your cell phone in here
so there's lots of areas you can put your cell phone or
change or but it's nice because there's a grip bottom so it doesn't slide around and you've got your normal map pocket back here and
That's a forget it show them right? Go ahead. Yeah down here. You've got your Chevy on the doorstep
So it's got a nice emblem. So, you know you're getting into a Chevy
And again, this is the 2020 premier all-wheel drive, right? And one thing I got to really show you guys. I love these mats
I mean, you know you get the Chevy emblem right there, but the mats are awesome like yeah
Yeah, so really I think they're trying to compete probably with the WeatherTech and pretty much. Yeah, these fit just perfectly in here
I mean, yes, so I mean say you're like in the Mahdi plays and your shoes get dirty
But do you don't want to get your chevy blazer dirty you yeah, and we're you know, we're in northern indiana
So we get a lot of snow up here and if you're in california sure, this prize isn't a big deal
But when you're up here in northern indiana floor mats are a big deal. And this is this fits beautifully
Yep, and you can you know, you take those out you rinse them up and you slide them back here and hey
Let's hop in the back and let's check out the yeah
Yeah
So getting to the rear right here before I even get into and I mean I got to show you
This is very Spacey back here. Very nice. Love the leather stitching the other leather stitching continues to the back
We have you know, the nice little sway in the center and we have these nice mats back here
Which this is a two-piece back here. I don't know if you can see that Keith, but it comes apart. Yeah two peas
That's nice to keep it nice and clean and fitted it just fits in there. Perfect
oh, yeah, so I mean
You know on the door side go and point out your suede here too that you were talking about a minute ago
So we have it right here on the center of your seats
Again, but one thing I really noticed heat up there. He show you the nice
glass clear
Yeah, the glass finish on the design on the door
Yeah on the panel and I would have loved if they would have done the same thing. Thank you, but they wouldn't with plastic
Yeah, I don't understand why they did that
They were definitely trying to save some cost there by not doing some of the door finishes
But I think they should have done it all the way through. You know that one thing right here
I don't know if you noticed you have your heated seat, but then on the center instead of having it down here
Yep, in the center. A lot of vehicles have it in the middle the C heated seat, which is nice
It's super handy right there. I kind of like it right there. I'm gonna show it to you up close here on this one
Much better immediate seats there your window controls. There's another grip. This is a rubber grip at the bottom of this one
So if you wanna throw your cellphone or whatever it's not gonna slide around but it's not very wide so I don't think you'd even
Want to put your cell phone in there pockets on the back here for you behind the seats are very nice
Yeah, they got the pockets here. They're pretty tight fitting. So yeah, those are very nice. You got your drop down
Let's drop that sucker down for your elbow rest
So you air will rest, you know, you have your two cup holders on the center right here, you know, this is very high
You know these seats fall just before the manually so you know, yeah, these are manually
Yeah, so you see it on the side right there has yeah you got a lever lever right here you flip that and come down
Right here in the center Keith can show you you got like these different colors right here
Yeah, you got the colors on the stitching there. Let's bring
We keep that I got the middle in the middle. Yeah, you know that air vents right here
We have that USB and then we have this
150 volt yep. This is like your home adapter. So if you want to plug in your
Well, most people use USB these days, but you know, you can still plug something in there. All right only
How about we check out the hatch here in the back of this? Alright Keith. So we're back here in the rear
I'm gonna let you take over this part because I know you're really excited
All right. So let me go to the camera. Let me see. Let me show them and yeah, all right
Let's open the back of this hatch here. We're gonna open it here. You just press the button
It's got a little rubber grip here. You just press it. There's no more latching. It's basically just a button now
So right there so which that's very nice. Yeah, one thing here
Let me get these mats out of the way here, but it's got this gate here
It's got this crossbar metal gate here that holds your luggage or a hold your groceries
You just put them and I'm not gonna do it because a brand new car is set up up there and you can adjust it
back and forth to hold your groceries your
Walmart, whatever you got there also got some little pockets here. Hold your junk in there. So it's kind of this
Yeah, they're pretty deep and there's rubber grip at the bottom of those also, so that's nice, you know things stay
Yeah, they just leave it plastic. I'm glad that they put the rubber grip you got one on each side
So we have them in both sides, okay?
Got your seat this I wish it was an automatic a lot of cars now
We're doing the automatic seat drop, but this is a lever one depressant name flip style
Yep, you got to come around the other side and flip it back up. You got your LED lights here
You've got the other thing here. You're gonna flip it down
Again, it has a hard time
So, I mean if you have failure take your kits or whoever you know
Pours or whatever, you know, this is this is a perfect SUV for all that like it's very roomy
You've also got more room if you want to put some different stuff under there some flares some emergency kit stuff. I
Like how much room you have back here? Yeah, I mean besides having your spare tire right in the center
It's still plenty of space real nice. It's very nice. I like that full hitches right here across the side
So if you want to latch something down
I don't know what you'd use that to much for right but then you press the button. It's gonna do it again
yeah, I don't get it'll go down all the way and
That's it. Hey, if you watch this bar smash the thumbs up because you've watched enough this video you might as well like it
Alright. Hey, yeah. Hey and right after I close this here, I noticed that we have this green blazer right behind us
So if you want to see what the green color is
It's pretty different. What do you think? I'll you know, I really like this one. I mean you like this better
You see that I like the red. This color here is called Cajun red
I don't know what the color on this green one, but man. Oh, yeah, you know, I honestly like this a lot
I wouldn't mind having this color instead of that color
But, you know drop a comment below and let us know which color you like best
You like this one or you like the Cajun red that we have over there? All right
Hey, let's show them the exterior of this Cajun red blazer 2020 premiere let's grab the tripod and let's talk about the outside
Okay. All right. I'm excited. We just finished the interior. This is the exterior of the 2020 blazer
Premiere all-wheel drive and this is a Cajun red and I love it
Pin this thing this color is very nice. It pops out a lot
But since we're already up here, I gotta say love the chrome. I mean, I don't know if you guys can see this
Right here fog lights turn lights this real slim
All right now they get all right all nice tile check out the chrome here
Nice chrome we get the nice Chevy emblems, very nice and big so, you know
You know you have a Chevy as soon as you see this, but this grille is very large
Yeah, you've got the glass black finish here that goes right around the side
You've got the silver if you follow it here on the very bottom. It's a little bit different shade
This is the only color that I see on this but right at the fiery bottom they put this like a grayish silver color
So yeah, we have like a two-tone
Well more like a three-tone to really have the gray in that glass back here in the chrome. Yeah, which is very nice
I like that but I really like the Cajun red. That's cool as you come right down here
You've got the LED lights and let's go around to the side here. What do you think about these 20 inch wheels?
20 inch rims. They're very nice. They're glass black also, so we have a lot of glass Plex is this
Yeah, they match it really nice. Let's get a little closer. Look here like that. That looks very nice
Yeah, this is got the Michelin tires. These are the 20 inch rims and we have 235 s in the front
So there's the size of the tire and we also have the same thing at the rear excellent
That's very nice. And then we on the side right here. If you see we have the Blazer. Yeah, it's this place right here
Right down here. We have you know, the nice camera
So when you're backing up or you want to get a side view of the site, you know
We have one thing with one thing with the mirrors
These are heated mirrors, which again you need you really need here in northern, Indiana, Michigan area, you know the northern United States
But they're there manual mirrors. They're not the power so you got to push them in
Yeah, so you push them in, you know, I wouldn't tilt it up
I wish they wouldn't be pull for that mirrors, but they're never separate. We have the nice marker light turns in on the side
Very large windows. Yeah, I don't know if you agree with me and Ike yeah, the windows are nice
They're not too dark of tent. They've also got the chrome roof rack that goes right around the top
We also have more chrome on the door handles. So this is a keyless entrance. So, you know, we have the button right here
We have the same thing for all floor doors
So some vehicle only has them in the friend or but we have them here, you know
So I mean right now it's a lot
So you've also got the chrome trim that goes around the bottom here
If you look down the side, you can see how it looks that looks very nice
You know as we continue we just wrap around and you know
You have a nice kind of slick light which is starts running like a ball right here and it moves up
Towards the rear so you know, it kind of forms. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's pretty aerodynamic and a little bit sporty looking right
We'll take a shot right down the mirror so you can see the whole side of it. It looks pretty nice
It's got the glass black finish here on the trim right there that comes around the spoiler here
Like I say, you know, they keep adding more and more of that and I like how they did that touch of the glass
Yeah, let me put this on the tripod L&E. We'll check out the back. All righty, then sounds good
All right. So we're in the rear of this Chevy Blazer and
Man, this thing has some nice. This has got some shapes honor that or awesome
It just looks like the waves of an ocean are just crashing down over and it does the same thing
I thought cuz you see how it dips
Yeah, right and it comes around wraps under they've got the gold here on the Chevy emblem right there
Right, it's got the glass black that finishes right underneath it. It's very deep
You've got your LED tail light that wraps around right here. Yep, and you know, it's kinda nice. It's nice. It's not two slanted
It's not two straight up and down. They did a good job on the design of the rear of this. Yes
So the rear I mean overall the rear is very nice. I love this rear
Yeah, you know you have your wiper blade look at how I mean, this is pretty edged
You look and you've got the taillights that wrap around
What most cars do that? But if you look right here in the middle?
They didn't just make a flat panel on the rear taillights. They made it. So it just the molding of the taillight sticks out
I mean, that's just very edgy looking. I know it's tough. Yeah, it's very different and it just goes with all these lines
I keep saying this looks like a wave is falling down
But when you go in here and dips in the little and then it comes back out. That's what gives you all those different
Some close-ups here of the back. Alright, so you got the camera elleny. Let me go over here
Hey, I want to say thank you for gates for letting us do the review here
This is gates Chevy and Misha walking in the end. I appreciate it. Check out the Blazer all-wheel drive. So that's what this is
They've also got the premiere on this side now the Chevy Blazer
Came out with several different models. I mean there's tons of up you all the way from the L
Which is the lower bottle and now it goes for about 25 to 28 thousand
This is the number one - this is the premiere all-wheel-drive
2020 shift shoulder this right here is the best you can get in this SUV and the MSRP on this thing is about
42,000 this one actually is 51 because it has several different options
Yes, so you get more options, you know, you get the rim colors
Which is a glass black and since we're in the rear again, I got to show you guys we have another Chevy Blazer here
So when I talk about the rims, you can see the difference right here. So those are the options that you're paying for
So this is why this one gets a little bit more price point. That's excellent
I'm excited to show you the engine on this sucker
Let's check it out already, then. He'll they pop the hood on this 2020 blazer. Let's check it out
So we have the v6 on this Chevy Blazer. Very nice
You know, it says we're saying visas everybody when you hear visas, you spit very nice my illness and whew, yeah
What's my with us eighteen see?
yep, and this is the
3.6 liter v6. It's a nine speed transmission. We'll do a quick view here of it
So look at that, so it's very nice, you know and overall wit. This is a very nice Chevy Blazer

2019 Chevrolet Blazer: First Drive — Cars.com

Cars.com:

When Chevrolet told us that they were
going to be introducing a new 2019
Chevrolet Blazer we got very excited. We
thought hey cool here's a new 4x4 meant
to go up against real serious
off-roaders like the Jeep Wrangler or
the new upcoming Ford Bronco but that's
not exactly what Chevrolet had in mind.
Instead they've introduced the new
Blazer as a five passenger two row
premium crossover vehicle meant to go up
against things like the Ford Edge or the
Nissan Murano. Now it's got the V6, it's
got all wheel drive but it's also got a
very sporty version in the new RS that
you see behind me. We came here to San
Diego, California to get a better look at
the new Blazer, to drive it and to see
exactly what Chevrolet is brought to the
new crossover party. You can have your
Blazer in one of a few different flavors.
The base model comes with a standard 2.5
liter four-cylinder engine making 193
horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque
mated to a 9 speed automatic
transmission. Front wheel drive is
standard on all Blazers but if you want
all-wheel drive you'll have to bump up
to one of the V6 models, you can't get it
with the four-cylinder engine. This base
model is peppy and agile, has a decent
interior and features most of the
dramatic styling that makes the new
Blazer a real standout on the streets.
The front end bears a definite
resemblance to the more sporty
Chevrolet's like the Camaro but the
headlights are a little unusual.
Those lights up high on the fenders are
just LED running lights, the actual
headlights are HID projector style units
down in the bumper. All Blazers have a
floating roof design first seen on the
Nissan Murano many years ago but now
copied on to just about every automakers
new SUV. The overall effect is attractive
however especially if you get one of the
more standout colors like bronze or
bright red. Add the V6 to the basic
Blazer L and you'll get what Chevy calls
the Blazer V6 trim available with either
cloth or leather interior or spend a
little more coin and get one of the two
top trim levels, the Premier or the RS.
Both come with General Motors
omnipresent 3.6 liter v6 engine making
308 horsepower and 270 pound feet of
torque. Like the four-cylinder it's mated
to a 9 speed automatic sending power to
the front wheels. All wheel drive is
optional on all these six trim levels
but the Premier and RS trims get a
special dual clutch all wheel drive
system instead
of the more basic single-clutch system
in the lesser models. The Premier gets
a monochrome exterior paint job with
body-colored bumpers and fender trim as
well as 20-inch wheels. The RS gets a
sportier look with black out fender and
window trim, a more aggressive black mesh
grille and black painted 20-inch wheels.
21 inch wheels are an option on both the
Premier and RS trims. Inside the
influence of the Chevy Camaro is clear
from the design of the multimedia system
atop the dash to the big round air vents
that also control the temperature. The
Blazer looks decidedly sporty-er than
any of its competitors like the Ford
Edge or Nissan Murano. The more luxurious
Premier trim has some decent luxury
touches inside like unique leather dash
trim while the RS goes for a racy
two-tone look. Both have acceptable
quality trim on the dash and center
console but that material quality falls
off on the door panels and in the
backseat.
I will give Chevy credit for keeping the
height adjustable seat belts, something
they've been removing on new models
lately. The interior is comfortable up
front with plenty of width and height to
the cabin. This is a bigger SUV than the
compact Equinox crossover. It's almost as
wide inside as the much larger full-size
Chevrolet Traverse. The second row
features a sliding seat to maximize
either cargo space or back seat legroom
and the seat backs fold flat
via mechanical handles in the cargo area.
The back seat is comfortable for two but
might be a bit tight for three full size
adults across the bench. The cargo area
itself is spacious. This is a bigger SUV
then you might think. It is easily a
match for the new Honda Passport
or even the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Out on
the street the difference in driving
experience is actually greater between
the four-cylinder and six-cylinder
models than between the top Premier and
RS trim levels despite the RS' more
sporting pretense. All Blazers feel solid
and surprisingly substantial with
excellent body control and a ride and
handling balance that's impressive.
The RS gets a slightly more aggressive
suspension tune and a quicker steering
ratio but not really much else. It's not
like the Traverse RS that gets a unique
engine. The same engine power is the
Premier trim too. It's sporty-er than a
Murano or a Santa Fe but a Ford Edge ST
with its twin turbocharged V6 will
easily spike a Blazer RS in a contest
of acceleration. Suffice it to say the RS
delivers more
sporty looks than athletic ability
providing a fun styling statement and a
slightly tighter driving experience.
Choosing one trim over the other really
becomes more of which one you think
looks most appealing. The new 2019 Blazer
is not cheap. A base-model 2.5 L starts
at just a tick under $30,000 including the
destination fee while the least
expensive V6 front-wheel drive model
starts at $34,495. All wheel
drive adds $2,700
to that price. The RS starts at $41,795
while the Premier starts at
$43,895.
Load up an RS or Premier with all-wheel
drive and every option on the sheet and
you're easily into the low $50,000 range
which is a lot of coin for a midsize
Chevy SUV but is indeed comparable to
what you'd pay for a Murano, Edge or
Grand Cherokee. With its sophisticated
styling, its excellent ride handling
characteristics and the technology-laden
interior the new Blazer really is a
quite formidable competitor to the
Murano and the Edge. It's on sale now in
dealerships across the country and if
you'd like to learn more about the new
Chevrolet Blazer

2019 Chevrolet Blazer; Cars That Broke Our Hearts | Talking Cars with Consumer Reports #190

Consumer Reports:

This week, we talk about
the Chevrolet Blazer
that we just added to our test
fleet, the 2020 Subaru Legacy
sedan, and the cars
that broke our hearts.
Next on Talking Cars.
[MUSIC PLAYING]

Hi, everyone.
Welcome to another
episode of Talking Cars.
I'm Jon Linkov.
I'm Keith Barry.
I'm Mike Quincy.
And this week, we've got
some pretty interesting news
from the most
recent Chicago Auto
Show, which was
a couple of weeks
ago in the whole polar vortex.
Keith, one of the cards
that they showed, getting
near and dear, Subaru Legacy.
Yeah.
Can you tell us a
little about that?
Now, we love the legacy.
It's on our recommended list.
And there have been a couple
of changes to it this year.
It gets some new engine choices.
It gets a new turbo.
And it gets a new
giant touchscreen.
So the turbo, for
the new XT version,
that's kind of a cool idea.
The giant touchscreen, I'm
not entirely sure about.
What do you folks think?
Have you seen it?
One of the things that's
interesting with some
of the Subaru's, Mike, is
that they dropped the turbo
from the Forester.
And everyone complained,
oh, my, gosh, there's
no more turbo in the Forester.
So now, in addition to the
four cylinder, I believe,
is the base engine.
You get this new
turbo charged engine.
Yeah, they dropped the six.
They dropped the six.
Right.
Which did really well in
Consumer Reports' test.
I mean it was quiet,
and smooth, and--
Strong.
Kind of an under-appreciated
trim line of the Legacy.
I mean, I was
thinking about this.
And I was thinking how--
Subaru's kind of edgy.
Because they have
a car like the WRX,
a hyper turbo
charged sports sedan.
Right.
And when it comes to maybe more
mainstream mature sedans, what
other brand is putting out
something that might be as
edgy as a turbocharged Legacy?
Yeah, Ford Fusion, as you move
up, the Titanium is sporty.
But that car is going away.
It is.
Right.
And there isn't, like
you said, a huge number
of these performance affordable
sedans that are out there.
And with all-wheel
drive, there's--
Right.
I mean, the ultimate just
added all-wheel drive.
But aside from that,
something that's affordable--
I mean, this Legacy is
going to be pretty much it.
But you bring up a good point
about when Subaru dropped
the turbo engine
on the Forester,
are people going
to get-- are people
going to get excited about
this and then not buy it,
like they did with
the turbo Forester?
Well, I'll say one thing
that may be interesting,
is that replacement
for the turbo Forester
will be a turbo Outback.
Because the Outback is
based on the Legacy.
Yeah, and we already
get a sense that--
I mean, a couple of dealers
are even saying, like, hey,
you're wondering what new
Outback's going to look like,
and it's probably going
to debut later this year,
just take a look
at the new Legacy
and imagine just a little
wagon shape on the back.
You know, one
thing you mentioned
is the big touchscreen.
Is it like the Dodge
Ram, upscale touchscreen?
Or is it like a
Tesla touchscreen?
Or is it just like
this iPad mini?
Honestly, it reminds me
of-- and don't kill me here,
because this is going to be a--
but it reminds me a
little of the big census
screen in the Volvo's, because
it does control climate
control.
But will it work better--
There aren't those hard--
--than the Volvo screen?
Yeah, but still,
with climate control,
I need my hard buttons,
so I can just reach
and just touch something.
I don't want to take
my eyes off the road
in order to turn on a defrost
or something like that.
Or it blanks, if it
resets, if it goes out--
I've been in them, I've been
in some of our test cars
where the screen is blank.
And then all of a sudden,
you're driving with someone,
and the windows
fogged up, and you're
lowering the windows in
the winter because you
so much body heat, and outside,
the condensation that forms,
and the fog, you
run into trouble.
So I do agree, hard buttons.
And Subaru is that sort
of no-nonsense brand,
where people who want something,
people who would about a Volvo
20 years ago, they want--
it seems to be, from what
we hear from Subaru buyers,
that they like
the fact that it's
a no-nonsense car,
it's all-wheel drive,
it's practical.
Is this going to
turn people off?
Are people going to walk
in and say, no thanks.
And they didn't do
that with the Ascent.
Yeah.
We're going to-- the Ascent
SUV, their big three row SUV.
Yeah.
We're going to
keep our eye on it.
But it kind of led us
to talking a little bit
with the Valentine's Day
week, about cars that we
loved, but missed out on.
You know, people love
the Subaru Legacy.
But is there something
that we each loved,
that we weren't, either
we didn't buy it,
or we owned it, and wish we did.
I think, Mike, you
came up with the idea.
Well, yeah, the idea was
cars that broke your heart.
Right.
And the first thing
that I thought of
was all the Volkswagen turbo
diesels broke my heart.
So being a road trip guy,
the Volkswagen turbo diesels
were always my go-to car.
So when it had the
emissions scandal
and they dropped them
off from the lineup--
because I recommended
turbo diesel Volkswagens
to dozens of people.
Sure.
And then all of a sudden,
they come back to me,
like now what do I do?
And I'm like, oh, god.
So I loved these cars.
But they totally--
They lied to you.
They totally--
The relationship
was built on a lie.
Yep.
Yeah, terrible.
I mean, there have been fixes,
but we haven't tested them.
And we're not endorsing
any of the old cars either.
They broke some trust.
Yeah.
And it was a car that I loved.
And now I'm just--
Spurned.
I just kind of drop
my head, and go,
oh, man, it just killed
diesels in the United States.
Yeah, it really did.
Keith--
So mine's a little
more personal.
Mine is a little
more personal story.
When I was 18 years
old, I had about $4,000
I'd saved up to buy on a car.
And because like all
18-year-olds I was a genius,
and I thought I realized
something that nobody else
in the world had ever realized--
And that was like
four years ago.
Yeah, yeah.
It was that you could go out
there and buy a really, really
expensive car as long as you got
one that had depreciated a ton.
Sure.
So I bought an X300-XJ6.
A Jaguar, OK.
Little did I realize
at the time--
Wow.
--that one of the VINs on
it had a salvage title,
but the other one didn't.
So that was fine.
I got it registered.
And I drove it.
I felt like a million bucks.
I was going to the
kind of college
where it wasn't uncommon
to see Porsche Cayenne's
in the student parking lot.
How was the country club?
Seriously?
But here was I,
definitely not that.
And I felt like I
kind of-- you know,
people were looking at me.
And I thought I was
really, really cool.
And I was learning
a bit about the car.
And I was getting under the hood
a little and doing a little.
And then the exhaust system--
You had Triple A on speed dial.
No, actually, it
was remarkably--
I mean, it had
142,000 miles on it.
And this car, it was no problem
for road trips, everything.
But the thing that
killed me was,
it needed a new exhaust
system from the cat back.
And the parts alone
on that at the time
were almost as much
as I paid for the car.
Wow.
So I sold it to someone.
He fixed it up.
And in relationships,
that happens with them.
But the thing that
really killed me--
The friend or the car?
To the car.
The thing that really,
really killed me
with this, though, is that,
and it really broke my heart,
is that I googled
the VIN one day.
Don't ever do that.
If you have a car
that you like really
love, don't ever look up
to see what happened to it.
Because it was on the list
from cash for clunkers.
And it had been crushed
like a mile from my house.
And it was just one of
those things I could just
like hear what the
sound of that wood
splintering and the hydraulic
press would sound like.
Even worse, what you would
have gotten for that, maybe.
I know, I know.
Actually, I sold it for
less than what the--
you know, but still.
You know, pay some respect.
John, I'm sorry.
It killed me.
I'm at the edge of my
seat, waiting to hear.
What's yours?
What's your story?
Well, the one thing I'll
say is there's a reason why
they depreciate like so.
I found that out now, which is
why I'm a consumer journalist.
Mine's the opposite.
So it's probably 15 years ago,
talking to a friend of mine.
When you were 18.
When I was 12.
This is new math.
And saying, when you
get your license,
and you make your first million
dollars at your first job,
you gotta buy a
Porsche RS America.
And then at that
point, they I want
to say in the 30's
maybe, $30,000 range.
And this is a car that a lot of
people kind of looked and said,
oh, you know, they de-contented
it when it came out.
It was a 911, that
they had pull door--
pull latches.
All to save weight
for track days.
They didn't give it any
performance enhancements.
And people kind of looked
at it like, well, America's
not getting the real one
that they had in Germany.
And it's just, lack of love.
Well now, they're
$90,000, they're $100,000.
They're a $100,000-plus.
And people love
those, de-contented.
They're authentic.
Yep.
Now they're authentic.
That's a farm to table Porsche.
It is.
Yeah, there you go.
It's sustainable and all.
So it's just one
of those things,
like if you scrape up money,
take out a stupid loan
or something, here's a car that
it could have been really fun
and then it has a lot of value.
It wasn't like it got away.
It wasn't like I had--
I was going to say,
it broke your heart
because you didn't buy one?
Yeah, it broke my heart, because
it would have been a smart buy.
I didn't have that lapis
blue one waiting for me
around the corner.
It just was one of those things,
like it was an opportunity.
It was a smart buy.
It would have been fun.
I was single.
I had some cash from
living at home a long time.
That would have worked out.
So, we each have our own story.
I'm sure everyone's got a story.
You can let us know.
Send us some stories
about one that got away,
TalkingCars@icloud.com.
That's going to give
us some movement
to a car that we just got in,
kind of a historical name.
By name, yeah.
The Chevrolet Blazer,
we just got this SUV in.
It's a two-row model.
Takes on a couple
of big competitors.
And it fills a
niche for Chevrolet.
Mike--
Well, it goes along the theme
that we always talk about
at "Talking Cars,"
is SUV saturation.
Every manufacturer wants to have
an SUV of every shape, size,
price range, or whatnot.
The Blazer certainly
comes in with--
you know, it's not
really negative baggage.
It's probably positive baggage.
Most people think
back to the Blazer,
they think about big SUV from
the 1970s, not the trailblazer,
which was absolutely
abysmal [INAUDIBLE]
Or the S10 based Blazer,
is what I think of.
And that's that kind
of cool, you know--
I owned one.
It wasn't [INAUDIBLE].
And for some people,
like in my household,
my teenagers are too big
for a third row seat.
Even when they were younger, we
rarely used a third row seat.
So I could see the
appeal of this.
And as we talked about in a
previous episode, the Honda
Passport.
Again, I kind of like that
idea of just really a utility
vehicle, because I'm not going
to be using the third row.
Right.
But when you mentioned
before about climate buttons
and being able to be
able to see things--
Oh, my god.
That's one of the things going
against the Blazer, right?
Look, Keith, you've spent some
time, and I think all of us
have driven it a bit.
Yeah.
What about the buttons?
Because I have my
own opinion them too.
So it took me a
while to find them,
because there is
this sort of ridge
that sort of protrudes from the
inside of the center console,
and it seems to have no
other purpose other than
to obscure every physical hard
button control in the car.
And I tried a ton of
different seating positions.
I asked you to make
sure that it wasn't just
the car was designed as an
anathema to my ergonomics.
Because we all have
different sized bodies.
Yeah.
But it seems like walking
around the offices
at Consumer Reports'
test track, everyone's
saying the same thing.
Yeah.
It's almost like a design
element that GM is moving to,
because we found a similar
thing in the Cadillac
XT4, their subcompact,
their compact SUV.
Also, oddly enough,
it's as if they
haven't sold enough Camaros.
Right.
Because they had the giant
Camaro vents down low.
And they're cool in some ways.
Look, turning them on
and off is pretty easy.
They have the
temperature controls.
It's like a rotary knob.
It's a rotary know.
But it just--
I don't get this
whole, like, wow,
it's got Camaro elements
in this two row SUV.
It feels like an XT4 that
someone looked at and said,
you know what, let's make
this look more like a Camaro.
And it's not like the--
Decontented.
Yeah.
--camaro sells in great numbers.
GM is basically saying,
yeah, we know that Ford
sells more Mustangs than we do.
I have another climate
related, but it's
more of a sort of global
climate change related concern
about these SUVs.
And the more these
come out, you know,
we see gas mileage in
high teens as, I guess,
as we're driving it around.
Not this one--
formally, but yeah.
Overall, and we test
these, obviously.
But on average, these don't
get the best fuel economy out
there.
And we got the V6 model.
And I feel like we're
living on an island,
and we've got like
three trees left.
And we need shelter,
and we need heat,
but we're going to
cut down those trees
and lift up our
houses a few feet.
It just feels like
it's just not the best
use of where this great
technology can go in design.
That's me, that's me, but--
So Ford Edge is a competitor,
the new Honda Passport.
Murano.
The Nissan Murano and
the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Is this class needed?
I mean, is it--
It's wanted.
There's a niche and we have to
put a car in there to compete.
But a lot people
by three rows SUVs.
We, my wife and I, had, in 2010,
had our baby, our daughter.
And we had a Volvo XC70
previous generation wagon.
And it fit pretty well.
Hard to put the car seat in,
the infant seat in facing,
rear facing.
But at some point, my wife's
like, oh, we need an SUV.
And we need a three row SUV.
Need three row.
We're going to be
carrying people around.
I just don't find it.
It could be where
I live, everyone
is just so active with all
their kids' different activities
that you never carpool.
Because they're all going
different directions.
But is a two-row world needed?
Or is it, just look, we're a
three-row world of vehicles.
Should an SUV just be a large--
I mean, obviously, if you're
going to make choices,
people are going to buy them.
And I'm not against
making choices out there
for a key for every lock.
But at the same time,
it does feel like--
Did you say a Keith
for every lock?
A key for every lock.
They're very different.
No, none of these are for Keith.
But there's, it's a slightly,
it feels like a bit of overkill.
I don't know what the
solution to that is.
And obviously, it's not having
everyone driving a Nissan Leaf.
But at the same time--
It's what the market
is sort of demanding.
Yeah.
But as we started
this whole segment--
Chicken and the egg, though?
But Subaru is sticking
with the Legacy.
Yeah.
So they're saying, you know, we
know that everyone wants SUVs
and we're going to offer one
from every shape and size
practically.
Well, they have [INAUDIBLE].
Which is basically what they do.
But they're saying, you know,
we're also committed to sedans.
And I think that's cool.
I love driving sedans.
As I've said many times, I get
just a little bit saturated
with SUVs all the time.
Sure.
So speaking of driving,
speaking of driving the Legacy,
what is the experience
with the Blazer so far?
What have you guys felt?
I'll go with Keith
first, that way
we don't all just go like this.
There's nothing, it's
certainly not a Camaro.
There's nothing special
about it in either direction.
There's nothing about
it that grabs me.
It's pleasant.
There's nothing that upsets me.
John, what do you think.
I used to work with an editor
that hated that word, pleasant.
Yeah, pleasant.
Right, but it's almost damning
with faint praise in a sense.
Exactly, exactly.
What do you--
I mean, what do you think?
I think, to me,
it comes down to,
driving the Blazer is like
driving in a shoe box.
I mean, the visibility to
me kills the experience.
Because the rear
visibility is really
compromised by the styling.
The dashboard seems high.
The glass area seems low.
It feels very closed in.
The model that we got
does not have a sunroof,
so the interior is not
brightened up very much.
And it's a black
interior, black leather.
Yeah, so to me, it's
just kind of dower.
I like the way it looks.
But I think GM is
really banking on people
kind of in love with the name
that they're going to flock--
Nostalgia.
--and buy that.
I was surprised that for a
$40,000 plus SUV, no sun roof.
Right, it's also--
That was just baffling.
--kind of a lousy value, also.
But I agree with Keith.
It is very unremarkable
the way it drives.
Like, it's OK.
That's a better
word than pleasant.
Yeah.
It's OK, but I don't--
I don't find myself
running to the keyboard
and getting my name on it before
other people so I can have it.
The previous Ford
Edge was, was, is,
we haven't finished testing
of the redesign of it,
but it was a little sporty.
I'd say it's a sporty vehicle.
It may be compromised other
ways, but it was sporty.
Ostensibly--
[INTERPOSING VOICES]
Yeah, ostensibly, the Passport
is a little bit sportier.
True, the Hyundai Santa Fe
was an enjoyable car and SUV.
And I had this over the
weekend with the kids.
And it was easy to get in and
out the doors open pretty wide.
And the dash is high.
But again, yeah, unremarkable.
And I think my kids actually
walked to a different red SUV.
Now they're little,
but I'm beeping it,
and they're like is the one?
I got to say, the
first time we had it,
I had trouble finding
it in the parking lot,
the first time I took it.
Because I didn't know
what color it was.
And the whole reason this
exists is to be distinctive.
Right.
But in a market crowded with
SUVs, it's good for consumers
because they have
a lot of choices,
unremarkable isn't good enough.
It's not Murano.
I mean, the Murano
is-- it's polarizing.
Well, the looks of it.
But the Santa Fe is
a car you can get in,
and they didn't
make it expensive,
but the interior at least, it
gives you something different.
Yeah.
It's a cool look.
It's more than pleasant.
We're putting our miles on it.
We're going to have
some information
on ConsumerReports.org,
our first drive of it.
We already have that
up, actually up,
and the video's up too.
Yeah, so check that out.
We're going to move now
to a really good segment.
We've got a couple of good
questions that people sent in.
Once again, send your questions
and your video questions in,
TalkingCars@icloud.com.
The first one is from Henry S.
And he says, in a recent show,
you endorsed undercarriage
washes during the winter.
Can this force salt into the
wheel wells between the sheet
metal and the wheel
well liner, into an area
where it will never leave?
I have done undercarriage
washes on my car for a few years
and recently had rust start
under the paint in the wheel
well area.
Keith, you actually
have a story about that,
again on ConsumerReports.org.
Yeah.
What do you think?
What advice do you
have for Henry?
Yeah, so we do still endorse
undercarriage washes.
Or suggest.
Suggests them, yeah.
And for the same reason that
you're having a rust issue,
is that stuff tends to
get caught in places that
don't otherwise get washed.
The issue is that an
undercarriage washed, no matter
how many times you
do it, it's not
going to clean absolutely
everything out of there.
I've seen this happen on cars.
And that's one of
the hardest places
to get that sort of salty--
when salt kind of turns into
like a paste with road grime,
and it sits there, it's going
to get wet no matter what.
And rust never sleeps, so, yeah.
Yeah, very true.
Exactly.
So I hesitate to create
a counter-factual here.
But I imagine that
this might have,
your car might have
rusted even a little more
if you hadn't done those
undercarriage washes.
So no, it's not like
it's pushing it up there.
But, the other thing, especially
this time of year, that it
does this, if you
live in a place
where they salt the roads,
and you really get stuff
that's caked on under there,
an undercarriage washes
is just going to blast it off.
And sometimes, it is an option
when you go to an automated car
wash.
They often will charge
you extra or they'll ask.
It's usually $2
or $3 extra, yeah.
I would say, in the wintertime,
it's not a bad idea.
Because there are all
these nooks and crannies.
And there's sound deadening.
And there are these panels.
And most of the time,
rust proofing these days
is very good.
But 10, 15 years ago, I don't
know how old your car is--
Well, that's one question.
That's another question too.
We don't know the age of it.
We don't know maintenance.
Not saying Henry's
not taking care of it,
obviously he's washing
it, but you never know.
Information online about
that, because there's
a whole host of car wash advice,
from coatings and washes,
waxes, et cetera.
We're going to move to Paul.
Paul says, longtime
fan, love the show.
Thanks, Paul.
Thanks Paul.
I was recently told
by a Honda dealer
that automatic
emergency braking only
works during cruise control,
regardless of the manufacturer.
Is this really true?
Mike.
Another one of those times
when a car salesperson maybe
doesn't quite have
their facts straight.
No, this is not true.
I spoke with our safety
experts here at the track,
and they definitely confirmed
that with automatic emergency
braking, cruise control does
not have to be activated.
I certainly found
this out for myself.
We were-- I was driving
our Lexus ES test
car the other day.
Pulling into my son's school,
and I found a parking spot.
And there was a lamp post in
the front the parking spot.
And I got to within a few inches
of it, and all of a sudden,
the brakes jammed up.
Yeah.
And I didn't think--
I thought it was a
little bit premature.
But obviously, it did the job.
And I, obviously, was not
also using cruise control
to pull into the parking space.
I've had that with
pulling into my garage
in different vehicles.
And it just depends, maybe
your feathering the brake,
you're going in
a little quickly,
and it just doesn't know.
But certainly--
Every manufacturer is
different in the way they
program their sensitivities.
Right.
But no, definitely--
It's independent of
automatic cruise control.
But one thing I got to
say on this, though,
is that it highlights the
fact that, first of all,
a lot of buyers don't understand
how these systems work.
And also, that a lot of
dealers don't understand.
And they might just
tell you something just
to make sure that you,
just to move you along.
But the thing is
that I really want
to make sure is that automatic
emergency braking is not
the thing that will slow
the car if there's traffic.
Automatic emergency braking
is sort of that last resort.
And it might not even be
enough to actually stop the car
and avoid a crash.
So it doesn't--
It'll limit the impact and
limit the severity of it.
Yes, so it doesn't mean
automatic emergency braking
isn't the thing
that where you can
take your foot off
the brake in the car
will just slow itself down.
Right.
But that, with the
automatic cruise control.
Distance sensing
cruise control--
Distance sensing
cruise control, that's
going to be the thing that's
going to slow you down when you
have traffic coming up ahead.
Automatic emergency braking,
those are two totally
different things.
One thing you both touched
on, the dealers, and this
isn't to knock the
dealers, because there's
a lot of technology coming out--
Oh, yeah.
--that's kind of
coming, like this.
I picked up the I-PACE.
We are testing
the Jaguar I-PACE.
And the salesman, and he's
was the sales manager,
and he was really great.
He was great through
the whole thing.
But he said to me,
there's just so much
new technology on this
car, it's hard to just get
a grasp of everything with it.
There's so many settings now.
There's so many menus.
There's so many ways to get the
car personalized, so to speak.
Let alone just the technology
of what type of charger works
on an electric car, et cetera.
And in reading this question,
it reminded me of the days
when anti-lock brakes were new.
Stability control was new.
It wasn't standard on every car.
Sure.
And I think the salespeople
either didn't know much
about it, or they weren't
stocking the cars with this--
Exactly.
--equipment.
And so they would
often say, ah, you
don't need that,
you don't need that.
As it proliferates throughout
the market, expect to have it.
But it's also a key thing
for people to think about.
Don't just get in the dealer,
go to the finance and insurance
guy, sign the
papers, and get out.
Now with cars,
you really do have
to book a bunch, book some
time to make sure you go over.
And even on the test drive--
Do your research.
Yeah, do your research.
You got to know what packages--
Know what the cars can do even
before you get to the dealer.
So you can be in the opportunity
to know more about the car.
You know a great place
to do that research?
ConsumerReports.org?
Yeah.
I was going to say, check it
out at ConsumerReports.org,
because we have a whole list
of all the current 2019s,
and even some of
the 2018s, the cars
with advanced safety systems,
and which are standard
and which are optional.
And that's a big thing to know.
Because it's hard
sometimes to figure it out.
Our final question, questions,
kind of merge together.
The first one is from Nathaniel
S. Dear "Talking Cars,"
in a recent episode,
when you were discussing
cargo room in a new
Lexus, Jennifer mentioned,
Jennifer Stockburger,
mentioned some ways
that you guys
measure cargo room.
How do you measure cargo space?
And how does that factor
into your overall ratings?
So I'll jump on this.
The way we do test it,
is that we use something,
we use a big pipe frame box.
And basically, it's adjustable
for height, and for width,
and for depth.
And we fit it into vehicles
that are hatchbacks or SUVs.
And minivans.
And minivans, exactly.
Because you'll see these
ratings of the XYZ, the 2019,
brand new has 48 cubic
feet of storage space.
And that's maybe if
you're filling it
with ping pong balls.
And if you're filling
it with ping pong balls,
that's a fantastic
part of your clown job.
I don't know what you
do on the weekends.
You steal from the ping
pong factory you work at.
You steel from the ping pong
factory and have your own.
But basically, that's
not always usable.
If the opening is this big, and
the cargo space is this big,
you're only getting a
small long object in there.
So what we do is we
measure the usable space
of the base with a frame, where
the hatch and the cargo door
open, and then what you
could fit it in there.
So it'll be great
to know you can
fit a refrigerator in there.
You may not have 38.5
cubic feet of overall--
you may have that space, but you
can't refrigerator in the car
if it has a tiny opening.
Or if it has a sloping rear end.
Or sloping rear end.
Because we do it with
closing the hatch.
So it's great, you could fit the
four by eight sheet of plywood
or something out
the back, but you're
going to have the flag hanging.
We test what you could have
in the vehicle with the hatch
closed.
The other question that's
kind of associated.
Jake says, hi, on top of
recently getting a dog,
my wife and I are
hoping to adopt
and could need a bigger
vehicle with no notice.
I would be replacing
a 2013 Hyundai Elantra
and would like to improve on
its fuel economy, mostly highway
driving, while adding
around 30 cubic feet
of cargo space for the dog.
A used Prius V, Toyota
Prius V fits the bill,
but we don't like the
cheap interior materials
and lethargic acceleration.
Are there any alternatives
with above average reliability
ratings that are under $20,000
with less than 75,000 miles?
We each came up with our own.
I'm going to toss this
one to Keith first.
I say-- I say treat yourself.
You're starting, you're
starting a new family.
You might have to go for a
car that's a little bit older.
But my recommendation
is the Lexus RX.
Stellar, stellar
reliability in our tests.
The '08 to 2010, really
nice interior, really quiet.
It's got a ton of space.
And there also is a
hybrid version of it.
I mean, it's not going to
get Prius V fuel economy,
but it's not going to be a
huge dip from the Elantra.
And yeah, it's a
bigger car, but you're
going to be able to have that
reliability and that comfort
as well, that
you're looking for.
Mike and I initially kind
of thought of the same one
almost, like a mind meld.
Mike--
It just came out of
mouth at the same time.
It was like Mazda 5.
Yeah.
Mazda 5 is this really kind
of obscure, little cross
between a wagon and a minivan.
The cool thing
about the Mazda 5,
it had dual sliding side doors.
It had room for six.
It had a decent
cargo room inside.
The four cylinder engine
didn't have a lot of power
and the handling was made it
kind of agile, kind of fun
to drive.
Yeah.
The downside of this car, they
didn't sell a lot of them.
So it might be hard to find one.
Right.
But we've known a
few people that we've
worked with in the
communications office, who
bought one for his family,
and really liked it.
It's like a mini mini van.
Exactly.
We were kind of sad to see that
go out of production, actually.
Well, there's a lot
of cars out there.
I would suggest
that, Jake, you go
take a look at
ConsumerReports.org
and look at our best
used cars under $20,000.
There's also some
list best under 30,
if you happen to be able
to bump it up a bit.
But a lot of cool information
on there, particularly
for CR members.
So that's going to do
it for this episode.
As always, check the show
notes for what we talked about.
Thanks for watching, and
we'll see you next time.

2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS: First Impressions – Cars.com

2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS: First Impressions – Cars.com

Cars.com:

Back in the United States for the first
time since 2005 is the all-new 2019
Chevrolet Blazer now the old Blazer was
a kind of smallish rugged SUV but now
it's a full-on four-door mid-sized
family hauler under the hood of the
Blazer a couple of different engine
options there's a 2.5 liter
four-cylinder but the more exciting
option is a 305 horsepower 3.6 liter v6
that's standard on RS and premier models
now we're here with the RS this is the
sportier version of the Blazer and it's
also notable for one big reason and that
is it comes with a more advanced
all-wheel drive system so all-wheel
drive is only available with the v6 and
on the RS and premiere it's a twin
clutch all-wheel-drive system so if you
want the best all-wheel drive you can
get with the Blazer you're gonna have to
pay for it behind the back seat of the
Blazer 30.5 cubic feet of cargo room and
that's a little bit less than some
competitors like the Nissan Murano and
the Ford Edge but in this case the
numbers don't tell the full story
because how the Blazer uses this cargo
area really makes it stand out and that
starts with this rail system now a rail
system is usually something you'll find
in the bed of a pickup truck it allows
you to kind of compartmentalize a cargo
room add an accessories having one in
the back of an SUV is a really smart
idea it allows you some more flexibility
in the cargo area that you don't get
another SUVs now the Blazers interior
kind of lives up to a sporty exterior
especially in rs versions we got two
tone stitching or at accents that really
give it kind of a sporty feel though
probably not really a sporty drive now
multimedia system it's a touchscreen
mounted high up here on the dash and we
generally like this interface it's
pretty simple it's pretty easy to use
kind of like something that you find in
a Hyundai or Kia two systems that we've
really liked in the past now there is
one thing about this system that we
don't like and that is it's kind of
placed a little bit weird the lip here
that kind of houses the volume control
and a few other buttons kind of cuts
into the bottom of the screen and that's
exactly where Chevy has placed a few
shortcut buttons so those shortcut
buttons will be kind of hard to use
unless you kind of kink your arm and get
it in there in that weird kind of angle
now second row like most other vehicles
in this segment the second row pretty
spacious if you have a midsize SUV in
your don't try to cram three rows into
it that means you get a lot of passenger
space for up to five people now
the second rule can actually slide
forward and back a few inches to open up
more cargo area if needed and there's
two USB ports and a household outlet in
the back for good charging options
what's interesting about the blazer is
you can actually get up to six USB ports
and it only carries it to five people so
someone has two phones they're covered
to the new blazer has a lot of things
going for it I like the styling I like
the technology inside and I like the
flexibility in the cargo area however
there's one thing holding it back and
that's kind of true about other GM
vehicles as well and that's if you want
automatic forward emergency braking
adaptive cruise control or lane keep
assist you're gonna have to get an RS or
a premier those features aren't even
offered on lower trim levels and those
things are now standard on a lot of
other vehicles not only in this class
but in more affordable classes as well
so Chevrolet it really needs to step up
in this regard for us to take them more
seriously on safety now the Blazer
starts at twenty nine nine ninety five
including destination and is on sale now

2019 Chevy Blazer: FULL REVIEW + DRIVE | Introducing the Camaro Crossover!

2019 Chevy Blazer: FULL REVIEW + DRIVE | Introducing the Camaro Crossover!

Car Confections:

What's going on YouTube! with so many crossovers pouring into the market it's really hard to make an impression today
But that's something the Blazer has definitely managed to do
Its rivals are already some of the most stylish SUVs on the market
but Chevy has gone a step further here and has resurrected the Blazer into something of a practical Camaro and
That's an intriguing concept which is why we're happy to be checking out this fully loaded blazer premier today at Sutherland Chevrolet
Special thanks to them for giving us access to this vehicle
And if you're the market for any new Chevy
Be sure to stop by their dealership or visit them on their website, which we provided a link to in the video description. So
Is this a Camaro on stilts, let's find out
So starting off here on the outside it certainly seems like the answer is yes
this is a very
provocatively styled crossover with a large grill dominating the front as
Far as all the trims. It is different between them
So on this premier, we have the extra chrome as well as a gray piece at the bottom
Compared to the lower trims which have a matte black finish
The one exception to that is the sporty RS which blacks everything out for the full Camaro. Look
But what stands out the most is the way the headlights are designed
This is a very similar setup to how the rival SantaFe does them
which is that you have a thin and aggressive LED daytime running light across the top but
Then the actual headlight is located down in a separate housing towards the bottom on the Blazer
This light is always hid and you will not find any fog lights
Moving to the side the Blazer sets between the equinox and Traverse size-wise though. It is much closer to that of the equinox
however, it doesn't look like either of them since it's got a coupe light stance with a sloped roof and a really high beltline and
Then around back. It's definitely got a more aggressive stance than the vehicles it competes against in
A nod to Camaro. The taillights are designed to have two sections each one kind of looking like an era and
Then dropping down to the bottom every blazer will come with dual exhaust but the shape of the outlet will vary by trend
But overall the Blazer really stands out in this increasingly crowded segment
This isn't just another CUV with cookie-cutter looks this is something that people will notice when it rolls down the street
Now another one of the eye-catching elements are these huge 21 inch wheels
These are available as an option on the premier and there is also a fully black 21 available on the RS as well
Both of those trims would normally come with 20 inch alloys and then as far as your other three trims, they have 18 inch alloys
Coming up to the mirrors
They are always body color powered adjusting and heated
plus you'll find blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on all with the base L trim and
On the topic of safety systems like most GM vehicles. They are mostly reserved for the upper trims
Only the RS and premier have the option to add front emergency braking with pedestrian detection
Lane Keeping Assist
advanced adaptive cruise control and auto high beam headlights
It is worth noting that these are features that many of the rivals include even on the base trims and
Then the last thing to look at on the outside is the fuel tank
Which is either 19.4 or 21.7 gallons for front or all-wheel drive models respectively
Now I'll go through every possible combination. But this specific model can travel
456 miles on a tank of fuel and both engines do run on regular unleaded
But anyways, that's it for the resurrection Blazers aggressive exterior, so now let's see if the cabin is just as bold
So right off the bat the Blazer has a leg up on most of the
Competition and that's because it gives you both standard smart entry and remote start across all of the shrimps
And to get inside the vehicle itself like all GM vehicles, there is no sensor behind the handle so you just press the button
All right, so checking out the interior of the all-new blazer
And you can see it right off the bat it definitely carries that Camaro influence from the outside into the interior as well
Now as far as the actual materials and colors, there are a lot of different choices
So on your L through to LT
You're gonna have cloth seating and then the rest of the trims will have leather though
It is worth noting that on the RS. There is a cloth insert in the middle
And then as far as the colors are concerned most of your trims, you're just choosing between jet black or gray on
The RS is jet black only but with some red accents and then on this premier
You do get a maple sugar color option though. We have stuck with the jet black as you can tell
Now turning over here to the door trim that is very upscale
You do have a nice leatherette
Across the all the armrest and up the handle here as well as above it now. The top part is hard touch though
You got a black trim through here. And then on the premier, you will find two person memory seating
Coming down to the windows, they are OneTouch Auto down for all four of them, but only auto up on the drivers
Now checking out the seat here
It is 8-way power adjusting on all that the very base L model and you do have two-way lumbar support as well
And then like I was saying on the premiere you do have real leather
It has a nice high-quality feel to it as well as a really attractive
Stitching and piping design with the contrast as well as the special pattern, which you'll see repeated throughout the cabin
So like I was saying right off the bat you can really tell the Camaro influence in here
However, I will say that the material selection is nicer than the Camaro
Down the extreme upper part of the dash it is hard touch
However, you got this layer of leatherette with some nice stitching that runs across all this area
That same material can continues down here and you have some more stitching as well as that pattern. I was mentioning earlier
this material travels across the center part and then down below you even got a nice leather padded area for you to rest against
And then overall the materials do fit together really nicely
Now across all Blazers you do have push-button start
And when you press it, you will also find this 8 inch display standard on even the base model
Now looking over here at your gauges these however are not standard these are just reserved for your RS and premier trims
as you can see
We've got the 8 inch reconfigurable display the other shrimps come with a smaller 4.2 inch display
This continues to be one of the better reconfigurable displays on the industry because you have so many different options
Including the ability to actually change your entire theme
So you can go into that touring mode as you can see that switches up everything to a kind of a more wild design
So basically you can just modify things to whatever matches your taste. now coming
back to the steering wheel
Of course
you do have electric power steering and
One really nice feature is that you will find a leather wrapped steering wheel on every model including the models with the cloth seating
Now up here we've got our buttons for our cruise control as well as the heated steering wheel that comes on RS and premiere
Then on this side you got your buttons for your display as well as your traditional phone and voice controls
As far as the wheel itself it is power adjusting here on the premier only
Now moving on to the storage component
I am happy to report that even though it looks like the Camaro it definitely has more storage than the Camaro
So starting off over here with your center console
As you can see it is very deep
About a foot deep and you do have a nice little pad down at the bottom
Additionally, you will find a regular and type-c USB port as well as a 12-volt outlet inside of here
Then up in front of that, we've got another little cubby two cupholders and
In this big blank area here great for sticking your phone
And as you can see, it is also a wireless phone charger on the premier trim
Additionally above that are two more USB ports
The Chevy has been able to provide you with all that space
While still sticking with a traditional shifter instead of the electronic one that's on some of this models platform mates
For this of course is very easy to use you. Just pull back for Drive
you can go into a low mode and you do also have manual shifting ability via these toggles and
Then shifting into reverse you will find a standard backup camera across all of the trims
However, our model has the optional surround view
360-degree camera
Now this is available as an option on the 3LT, RS and premiere now
This is one of the best 360 cameras in the business
Not only because you have so many different views to choose from but also because of the resolution
This is excellent resolution as you can see it's super clear
And it's better honestly than some of the other GM vehicles like the Tahoe for example
It's definitely the newer generation of the 360 camera
This model does also have an electronic parking brake it's actually located over here
As far as what's behind the shifter though, you do have a button to turn off your parking sensors
but your land Keeping Assist and then you have your controls for on this model the
torque vectoring twin clutch all-wheel drive system
But moving up to what is probably the most signature part of the Camaros interior design you've got the exact same climate controls
So like it says straight off the Camaro
You've got the two giant low mounted vents and then you just twist around
To adjust the temperature which does appear there as well as under the display
Above that you got physical controls for your zones
As well as AC functions and then below that you've got your fan
So I do appreciate that it both looks good and is also a highly functional
Attorney over here to your seating controls, you will find three-stage heated seats on your 3 LT and up
However, our model also has three stage ventilation that's reserved for only the premiere
All righty, so now that brings us up to our audio system on the premiere
We've got an 8 speaker Bose premium sound system and this is the only trim to get that
Sound quality of this system is very good
Anyhow that brings us up here to our Chevy infotainment 3 system, so let's go ahead and take a quick look
Alright, so I'll just go through the system highlights here real fast
Of course the infotainment 3 is the newest Chevy infotainment system
It's very speedy and it's easy to use
Right here. You get your home screen
With various things like your audio phone navigation, you can click straight into that stuff
While we're in the navigation
I will go ahead and mention this is standard on the premier only though it is
Available as an option on the RS and 3 LT
As you can see this is really responsive very detailed
graphics and you can't even do things like your
Tilt to zoom kind of like Google Maps, so that's pretty nice
Coming back to the home screen. You can swipe over see all of your applications
so you have audio where you can control the functions and your different sources and you can click on the phone as well and
See your contacts which would automatically sync over if I have my phone connected right now
One of the things I will point out is that you've always got these shortcut buttons along the bottom. So it makes things very convenient
Now the big thing that people are probably most interested in is your apple carplay and android auto
so even if you have one of the models without integrated navigation
Which is the majority of them
You do still have access to
Google Earth maps as well as Apple Maps if you use apple carplay or Android auto which is standard equipment
as far as other noteworthy features
You do have your Wi-Fi hotspot, like all GM vehicles and this is where you'll find the password to sign in
But anyways, that's pretty much the main features of the Chevy infotainment 3 system
However, we do have a really detailed tech help video that digs into the features
So if you want to check that out a link to that is in the video description
I'm moving up to mirror, of course, it is auto-dimming
We do also have the rear camera functionality which is optional on the three LT RS and premiere
This car has pretty good visibility, but the rear window is a little small and the pillars are a little bit thick
So this is definitely helpful
And then moving on up from that
You will also find a panoramic moonroof on our model
Now once again, this is optional on the top three trims
Via the Sun and wheels package, but as you can see this is well worth it
I think because it is huge a different portion does open up just like a traditional
Moonroof would so it gives you a lot of open air?
space
But anyways, I have to say that I am really digging the Blazers interior I
Honestly don't think any of the rivals have such a good mixture of style and functionality
So overall, it's just really a great place to spend time
Anyways now I'll go ahead and hand it off to Mason who will finish up the rest of the cabin
So heading around to the rear seat of the all-new blazer
You're going to find a larger than average amount of spice
Its technical writing is 41 inches of rear legroom and 38.6 inches of rear headroom
That does make it larger than the Ford Edge Nissan Murano and Hyundai Santa Fe
However, the Headroom rating is a little bit less than those models since it does have the sloping roofline
Now moving over to the door trim. It is really nicely finished
So you do have a leather wrapped armrest with some stitching going through that
it is also padded above that and the top portion is a nice cranny and
Down below that you will find an auto down window as well as heated rear seats standard on the premier or optional in the RS
Further below that you do have some bottle storage
Now the seat itself is a really nice design
So you have perforation here as well as a little Alcantara insert with stitching in addition to that. You can also slide and recline
Now here in the center area the blazer is really nicely finished
so all models will get these rear vents and it does have a little silver outline which makes it look a lot more premium and
Down below that Chevy was also nice enough to include a USB
Regular USB port as well as a USB type-c port now in addition to that
we do also have a household stock outlet, which is a really nice touch and
Down below that we do have storage
I don't know if you can see it or not, but there's plenty of storage down here
You can fit quite a bit of stuff in there
In addition to that we do have an armrest does fold down nicely
It is leather wrapped and it has some cup holders in the end
Now up top this fully loaded blazer does have the panoramic moonroof which does look really nice here at the back and
Beside that you do have an assist grip LED lighting and a coat hook
Now as far as where legroom is concerned like I said, this is the biggest among its rivals
So I have plenty of space behind Drew seating position
I probably have about six inches of rear legroom and I feet can't easily slide up on it the seat
now sliding over
Even with the seat scooted all the way back. I still have plenty of room
But overall, I'm extremely impressed by the Blazer for seat most in this class do offer comfortable rear seats
But the blazers has plenty of features and it truly feels like a luxury car back here
Now to fold the rear seats you can use this level over here and it does come down it does fold 60/40 split
Now heading around to the tailgate of the Blazer
It is power on the 3 LT trims and higher and foot activated on the RS and premier trucks
So just wave your foot under the bumper and you will notice that it does even have a Chevy logo light up on the ground
Here so this way your foot into the buffer and it does open right up
Now inside the Blazers trunk
You will find a little bit less space than where you will on most of the rivals
It comes in a 30 cubic feet behind the second row seats and expands to 64 cubic feet with them folded now
Like I said that is a little bit less than the rivals. It's about 10 cubic feet less than the Santa Fe and Ford Edge
However, Chevy does finish it really nicely back here since we do have the cargo management system straight off with the x.25 which basically allows
you to divide your cargo areas and
Down below the floor here. You have a spare tire
some additional storage to the left
some additional storage right here as well and you will also notice we have some LED lighting as
Well as the handle two folding rear seats
And once you do fold them all the way it is a flat loading
Now the passenger seat is that same nice design it even has some nice cool stitching here and
It is also sick type our adjusting on the 3 LT trends and higher or it would be 4-way manual on the lower trims
Now in front of the passenger we do have awesome materials
so we have a leather area right here as well as the stitching the tail and
To open the glove box. All you have to do is press this little button
Now once aside you will find it's a nice sized glove box it is not felt lined but it does have LED lighting
Now top the Sun Visor does have a mirror light and the lights do gently fade in
And you can also detach it and extend
But anyway guys that sums up all I'm going to talk about for the rear areas at the blazer
So now let's go ahead and talk about the powertrain and do a test drive
All righty, so now to go ahead and talk about your different powertrains
Now for this model, you've got two different choices
You've got a two and a half liter four-cylinder for your L and 1 LT
so your base 2 trims and that makes 193 horsepower and
188 panel feet of torque
Now for the rest of the models, which is - LT through premier, you're gonna get a much bigger
3.6 liter v6
And that makes 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque
Regardless of your choice of engine you're gonna have a 9 speed automatic transmission
Power is put to the ground with standard front wheel drive across all of the trumps
Or optional all-wheel drive on the 2lt and up
However, it is worth noting that on our s and premiere models. There is a more sophisticated
twin clutch all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring
As far as your fuel economy is concerned the EPA didn't publish all the figures
But I just read the sticker on this model and this is the 3.6 liter v6 all wheel drive
and it's rated at 18 city 25 highway 25 and
That pretty much matches the equivalent Ford Edge if you're making a comparison, but anyways, that pretty much covers the basic specs
So let's go ahead and take it for a quick test drive
So setting off in the 2019 blazer
Power seems pretty good
So here at this stop sign our auto start/stop system just engaged. So, let's see how quickly it restarts here
Did a good job that restart well before my foot went from the brake to the gas pedal, so that's what you want to see
And I do also kind of want to point out
for those of you that don't know like all of the heat and stuff stays on so
It definitely is not going to be something that you're going to notice when you restart
We have power definitely feels more than adequate like I was saying earlier a
Lot of different jean vehicles have this including vehicles much much bigger
like your Buick Enclave for instance and your Chevy Traverse and those of course are
Gigantic three row SUVs and this is a smaller and lighter vehicle. You can definitely tell that
Like you said, we drove all of those and this feels so much smaller even just riding here in the passenger seat
I'm not even behind the wheel and you can just tell you're hauling around a whole lot less
mass
When you buy the Blazer, absolutely
And you can tell that in the handling as well
This uh, it feels pretty agile now, of course, this is no
It may look like a Camaro but it's not. It shares no bones with the camaro
It's still just a crossover, but I do appreciate that Chevy has made it
sportier
Than their other offerings like the equinox and bigger things like this Traverse
So this is like a good middle ground. I guess you could say it as well in driving dynamics as well as size
I also want to talk about how smooth the 9 speed automatic is
It's incredibly smooth
There's not many transmissions that shift as smooth as this hat is shifting
Just driving like a normal person
It's it and then here the rolling stop
you can see it just
Just does it all like it has no hesitation but no animation no stuttering and you know
A lot of people they don't like the gears to shift
continuously and with the 9 speed you kind of would expect that but
You really can't tell when it shifts gears like just riding along here
I
Couldn't tell when it switched gears or anything
You just get that power that you need when you need it and the fuel economy that you want
When you're just cruising down the highway, that's exactly right
Really getting the blazer out on the highway is a really good measure of what this car is going to be doing mainly so this
Car is a crossover after all I Drew said it's not a sports car or anything like that
And just riding along here. It is a super smooth vehicle. We went over a bridge just a few minutes ago and
It took it like a dream like the bumps. You can't feel them at all. Nothing really makes it into the cabin
It's quiet in here. The seats are comfortable and really is just a great
Highway cruising vehicle, which is what a lot of you guys will be doing in this car
Right, this is a poorly maintained road. Yes. It's still very quiet inside the cabin
I don't think you'll have any problem taking off merging onto a highway or something. We live in a busy city
No this car handles it really well, I'm very impressed. You know, this engine we did say is in a lot of other beautiful
GM vehicles in general but this it sounds good in this car. It feels definitely peppy enough
Because it's not hauling around as much weight
But overall I have to say I'm really impressed by the way the new blazer drives
it really just feels like a
Well-rounded package, you've got the nice ride and the space of your bigger siblings like the Traverse
But then it's got more of an agile and you know tight sporty feel
Then your equinox or traverse as well
So it kind of just feels like that
Right mixture kind of maybe the perfect maybe the Goldilocks of the Chevy lineup as far as the crossovers go
So you need a little space but one a little Camaro insert it in there. Then this blazer might be your choice

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer Is No Retro Ride | Edmunds

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer Is No Retro Ride | Edmunds

Edmunds:

[ROCK MUSIC]
DAN FRIO: This is the
2019 Chevrolet Blazer.
Chevy's brought back the iconic
name for its new midsize SUV.
But this is a very different
car than its predecessors.
Is it worthy of the name?
We're here to find out.
[ROCK MUSIC]

For starters, this new
Blazer has four doors.
Now, sure, some of the earlier
Blazers also had four doors.
But talk to any Blazer purist,
people who know the SUV,
Blazers only have two doors.
That's not to say
this isn't a good SUV.
But it's made with a
very different philosophy
from those earlier Blazers.
While those old
truck-based Blazers
were prized for their
rugged off-road ability,
this new Blazer is more
about comfort, convenience,
technology, and even
a little bit of sport.
And while today's
Blazer does offer
an optional sophisticated
all-wheel drive
system, about the toughest
terrain this Blazer is
likely to see is in
the Costco parking lot.
One of the endearing
qualities of those old Blazers
was the thick, blocky
styling that just looked
like it could take a beating.
So this new Blazer got this big
wide grill allowed engineers
to widen the suspension
track for sportier handling.
It's got these thin lights,
these creased hood lines.
And it's got this window line
that rises toward the back--
kind of gives it a street tough
look inspired by the Camaro
rather than an
off-road tough look.

On sale now, 4-cylinder
based-trim Blazers
start around $30,000.
Moving up the line gets
you the 3.6 liter V6.
The red RS we just
looked at starts at 42.
But the premier level,
which I'm driving now,
starts around $44,000.
The 3.6 liter V6--
that makes 380 horsepower.
And the first thing you
notice about this engine
is just how smooth it is.
It accelerates
smoothly-- appears
to have plenty of power,
especially on the highway
or in these kind of
winding canyon roads
that we're on right now.
The Blazer's handling is
pretty impressive for what
is, otherwise, just a
general mid-sized SUV.
The suspension on
this is a wider track.
So it allows for flatter
cornering and less body roll,
so say the engineers.
But actually when you're
driving it in practice,
you can kind of feel it.
It's not a sport SUV, but
you can definitely carry
a little more speed
into the corners
than you might with
another midsize SUV.
The steering on the Blazer
is right down the middle--
a little light, if anything.
But we'll take that in
an SUV of this size.
But, overall, it's got good,
sporty confident feeling
in the steering.
Thankfully, we haven't needed
to panic-test the brakes out
on the freeway.
But here in the canyon,
they feel great.
Brakes engage easily.
There's no grabbiness to them.
There's a real smoothness to
this SUV's dynamic character,
overall.
Chevy's tend to have
this solid build
feel from behind the wheel.
And you notice it in the
Blazer in that there's not
a lot of road noise
or wind noise that's
coming into the cabin.
There's a little tire hum,
and there's a little rush
of wind over the windshield.
But it's nothing that would
impede a conversation.
It's nothing that I think would
fatigue you over a long drive.
This is a nice, quiet cabin.
From the driver's seat,
I feel very comfortable.
I've got plenty of elbow
room on both sides.
Seats are nice and wide.
It's not too much
bolstering here.
So you've got plenty of
room to kind of move around.
Good power adjustments,
good lumbar support.
It's easy to find a good
driving position in the Blazer.
In this trim, the premier
trim that we're driving,
there's also a power
telescoping steering column.
So that helps you dial
in a good spot, as well.
One thing you notice right
away from the driver's seat--
there's not a lot of room
to look out the back.
The exterior design uses
a Camaro-like window line
that rises up.
As such, it compromises your
view at the rear corners.
It's not a huge deal.
There is blind spot
monitoring on this trim.
But it's something to consider.
One thing about the
Blazer's ride quality
is that it does a good job
of suppressing harsh impacts
and jolts and keeping them out
of the cabin for the most part.
On the other hand, there's a
bit more bounce up and down
than you might expect.
It's not a deal
breaker, by any means.
But it's something you
want to consider, though,
and something you will
notice on rough roads.
Right now, we're in the RS trim
of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer.
You can tell it's the RS trim
by some of the red accents
around the vent rings
here in the shift lever.
Otherwise, today's Blazer comes
with about everything you'd
expect of a family crossover.
It's got this
8-inch touchscreen.
It's got in-car Wi-Fi,
Apple CarPlay, Android Auto,
six USB ports, wireless
device charging.
It's got about
everything you need
to keep your family
connected and happy.
I like this instrument panel.
It's pretty clean.
You've got a row of hard buttons
here for the climate control.
One of the highlights of this
updated infotainment system,
which Chevy is calling
Infotainment 3,
is this ability to
set user profiles.
And it can store
preferences for everything
from your favorite
audio preferences
to climate control, even entry
and exit seating position.
One of the things I really
like about this new touchscreen
is just how crisp
the graphics are.
The icons are really
sharp, really clean.
And there's this great
camera with multiple views--
bird's eye view,
front view, view
to the side, view of the back.
It's really helpful.
Two adults can sit
comfortably in the back.
Taller passengers may
lack some headroom.
But sliding and reclining
seats will help.
Two vents, two USB ports,
and a 120-volt plug
round out the offerings.
So is this new Blazer the retro
omage that we had hoped for?
Not quite.
But since truck-based
SUVs don't sell
like they once did
anyways, our expectations
were pretty tempered.
But with this new Blazer
lacks in backwards ruggedness,
it makes up for with a strong V6
engine, a roomy cabin, a cargo
area, and a pretty slick
technology interface.
We're taking one of
these back to the office,
so stay tuned for more on the
new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer.

Here's Why No One Wants to Buy This Chevy

Here's Why No One Wants to Buy This Chevy

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines
top tens says hey Scotty what
are your thoughts on a new chevy blazer
made in Mexico well I didn't like the
ones maybe United States I can tell you
right now I know I'm not gonna like the
ones made in Mexico from my experience
of vehicles made in Mexico and it's GM
too so I really don't have much hope for
that being a very good vehicle you know
why do you think they're making them in mexico
well because it's cheaper to make them
and it's cheaper to make them because
there's lower quality there and I
certainly wouldn't buy one myself
you never know I'll say more in five
years if I get any customers that buy
them and I get to work on them and check
them out but I wouldn't give it a glowing
review yet for sure,
Connor Woodruff says hey Scotty I'm
looking at by 2019 Kia stinger GT, I
agree with Michael Ball who answered the
next one he said I'll let someone else
take the depreciation hit buy them used
they are extremely overpriced because
that's their sporty car and so if you
don't mind the money and you want to pay
that for a car that isn't gonna last
forever go right ahead but those are
zippy little cars you don't mind the
money it's your money but really you go
out and get something that's used that's
still a good shape you're gonna save a
ton as an example I had a customer that
just bought a Tesla Model S their fancy
fast one right the original owner paid
125 grand for that vehicle
he bought it used with 15,000 miles for
45,000 like one third of what it
originally cost so that's a smarter way
of doing it Sharada Hudson says Scotty
what do you think of a Park Avenue Buick
with 3,800 series 180,000 miles okay
that 3800 engine was one of the best
engines that gm every made, those the six-cylinder
engine could run forever as long as you
kept oil in them and didn't overheat
them now don't you have a hundred and
eighty thousand miles so you didn't give
the year but a Buick with hundred and
eighty thousand miles isn't worth that
much money if you can get it cheap then
you take it to a guy like me first who
checks it out and says hey buy it and it's
cheap enough I've had customers buy
those things for $800 thousand bucks
driving for three four five years and
not even have any problems with them
Angela's workbench says Scotty what can
cause the AC system to suddenly blow all
the freon and oil all over the place at
the compressor well it's usually one of two
things either the compressor blew and
the seal went out on to you or you got a
backup in the system and it built up so much
pressure
most compressors have what's called the pop
and if the pressure gets too high other
than exploding and making metal tramples
it blows the valve and it all leaks out
of the high-pressure valve it's a check
that first it could be there's a
restriction because I've seen people say
a lot of compressors bad and they put a
new one on and that blows immediately
cuz it builds up too much pressure and
bull's-eyed too so you gotta check that
both of them stunt car driver says our
volkswagen reliable cars sure if you got
a time machine and go back into the
nineteen sixties they were real reliable
they're now they're completely unreliable
rolling piles of junk as they age check
out they're insanely low resale value
you can get eight ten year old
Volkswagen store nothing eight hundred
dollars twelve hundred dollars because
they're so expensive fix when they're
break they're high-tech German cars with
a bunch of plastic and electronic
computer crap and dude they break down
I haven't had a single customer in the
last fifteen years about a Volkswagen
and ever bought another Volkswagen
survey says have you ever worked on
DMC DeLoreans yeah I've worked on them, you
know there were oddball cars you know
they remain in Ireland and they had Volvo
engines but I believe they had either
Italian transmissions on them
and they were actually pretty junky cars
and that stainless steel body you know
you have to paint but that's funny
because the stainless steel was so
cheap here in Texas it rusted anyway
most guys ended up sanding them down and
paint know some you know some people
like to collect them because of back to
the future but they were actually pretty
crappy cars underpowered they're very
slow they weighed a lot they were heavy
and if the air conditioning broke
hoo-wee the windows then rolled out so
you'd be really hot here in Texas Austin
says Scotty I got a 2019
honda civic base model is it reliable
yeah they generally are very reliable
vehicles you know especially if you have
a standard transmissions but they're
automatics aren't okay they're better
than they used to be I had customers
that had the old one and the transmission
kept breaking, the automatics but I've
had the same customers by newer Honda
Civics with automatics and they held up
pretty well they didn't break down on
them so they're better made than they
used to be for their automatics honda
learn honda makes all their own
transmissions by the way they don't
from somebody else, piccolo Namek says Scotty
if the catalytic converter is out but I
don't change it does it damage the
Angela keep driving or does it get worse
gas mileage it depends on how it goes out
if
it breaks and the stress inside cracks
and it jams in and the pressure goes up
yeah your car won't go fast enough the
engine will overheat and do a lot of
damage if it just says it's inefficient
and the car runs ok yeah I've had
customers driving five years that way
there's no problems but they can break
in many different ways and as long as
the temperature gauge doesn't get hot
and it goes 60 miles an hour no problems
and you got plenty of exhaust coming out
the back it generally isn't it hurt anything
sandy says I got an 04 Nissan
Frontier I went to get in alignment they
said they can't do it cuz the wheel
bearings been can I do it myself at no
experience they're really stressing out
alright if you've got frontier where you
can buy the entire hub assembly and
bearings sure that just has four bolts
that hold in you take it out but another
one yeah if it's one where you have to
press the old bearing off and press the
new bearing on, now you really can't do
that yourself that takes years of
experience because if you hammer down
with a hammer you'll probably break it
trying to get it on and then it'll be
just as bad when you put the new one on
cuz it's on crooked but a lot of them
these days you can buy the bearing hub
assembly aftermarket made China that
