Chevy Impala 1961 — Takin' Pride in Low Ridin'

Chevy Impala 1961 — Takin' Pride in Low Ridin'

Taste Drive:

Your thing won't be
good the first time
If you want to make a good one,
you have to try more than once
Especially if you are
such an idealist
"I want to make something
just for myself"
If you don't go to exhibitions,
you don't show it to anybody
you only keep it in your room,
then who's going to see it?
If only your friends
know about your craft
you will always stuck
in the same place
Hello,
I'm Andrey
This is my Chevrolet Impala
I call it 'Om' because it's
about the same age as my father
So I have a lot of
respect towards it
I heard from a friend about
the existence of this car
Then I came to a mall
to have a look
At the time I can just look at it,
because it was covered with a tarp
So I touched it and prayed
"If it meant to be,
I will get you in the end"
I knew the driver, so
I asked him to ask his boss
if the car was for sale
and I gave him my number
For two or three months,
there was no news
Until suddenly,
I got a phone call
"Who is this?"
"It's the Impala's owner"
I was shocked
He asked,
"Are you still interested?"
"Yes, very much so. But I want
to hear your price first"
He said, "Don't worry about it.
Let's meet up in the car"
I think this car is unique
I gave the interior
some weird pattern
I knew it didn't fit the paint
colour, but I don't care
I just get all
the colours collided
And for the Airsus control,
I used a PS joystick
Controllers are usually
just up and down
But I wanted it
to be different
At that time, in 2012,
custom paint was not that common
I've known my friend Rio
from our bike activity
We got on well
So we brainstormed about
the stripes, the concept
Almost everything
was done manually
using some masking tapes
front to back, top and bottom
There was a colour gradation,
colour outline
He created some
water splash effect
People would know that
all were done manually
A lot of people say that this kind
of car can't be used in Indonesia
You will probably get it out
on Saturdays and Sundays
Especially since it has a V8 engine,
which can get really hot
So I have to think how to drive this
big engine in Indonesia's traffic
Not even around Indonesia,
just around Tangerang
For a 1-2 hour stop,
it's perfect
I wanted to put some
Indonesian ornaments up
But I didn't have the time
I did it with my bike
Get the body painted
with some batik pattern
So I still want to give
some Indonesian touch
on the shifter or something
So when people see it, they will
know that the owner is Indonesian
or someone with an interest
for anything Indonesia
This car has been featured
in the music video for
Via Vallen's Asian Games song
I myself can't believe that there
were still people who would
appreciate this old
and bothersome car
Indonesia lacks
only one thing
The willingness to start
People just don't get started,
don't have the courage
They don't have the courage to
create something that is more out
If people say that
you're wild, so be it
People can have a good
or bad appreciation
You can't make everybody happy
Just get started
Don't be afraid of judgement
Your thing won't be
good the first time
You have to be brave to get out
Brave to show your craft,
to be judged by people
If they think your craft
is bad, fine
You think it's good enough,
that's all that matter
Just let people say anything
And you just continue to create,
to do different
To be your authentic self
To hell with what others say

Here's What I Think About the Chevy Impala in 1 Minute

Here's What I Think About the Chevy Impala in 1 Minute

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines
the pillow mafia says, is it bad that I
prefer the Chevy Impala over Toyota
Avalon and Ford Taurus, well just means
what you mean by bad and how you drive
now you're never gonna get the mileage
out of a Chevy Impala that you will with
a Toyota Avalon, it will fall apart long
before the Toyota, and the Ford Taurus
they were up in the air cars, some years
were excellent, some were pieces of junk
so I mean the Toyotas are so much
better made, now if you have an Impala
and if you drive conservatively, and you
don't put a lot of miles on it, it might
last for years, but customers that I've
had with Impalas, once they had a hundred
thousand miles, generally they started to
fall apart if it was city driving and
they weren't happy, the transmissions
went out, or the engines blew head
gaskets, or the air conditioning
compressor blew up, they really weren't
happy with the cars in the long run, but
if you drive low mileage, no car should
fall apart if you don't put many miles
on it, so if you never want to miss
another one of my new car repair videos,
remember to ring that Bell!

TLX, then maybe you should take a look at
the 2019 Chevrolet Impala.
For enhanced safety, the Chevrolet Impala
shoulder belts are height adjustable, and
the rear seat shoulder belts have child comfort
guides to move the belt properly to fit children.
The camshaft in the Chevrolet Impala’s engine
are driven by a hardened steel chain, with
no maintenance needed.
The Acura TLX camshafts are driven by rubber
belt that need periodic replacement.
The Chevrolet Impala has a standard limp home
system, to keep drivers from being stranded
if most of the engine's coolant is lost.
The engine will run on only half of its cylinders
at a time, reduce its power and a warning
lamp on the dashboard will light up so a driver
can get to a service station for repairs.
The Acura TLX does not offer a lost coolant
limp home system.
To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier,
the Chevrolet Impala uses regular unleaded
gasoline, while the Acura TLX requires premium
for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20
to 55 cents more per gallon.
From 60 to 0 miles per hour the Chevrolet
Impala stops at 10 feet shorter distance than
the Acura TLX.
Come on down and see why the 2019 Chevrolet

Ford Taurus and Fiesta, Chevy Impala and Sonic discontinued

Ford Taurus and Fiesta, Chevy Impala and Sonic discontinued

CC- Car Curiosity:

General Motors and Ford Motor Co. plan to
discontinue four slow-selling car models,
including the venerable Ford Taurus sedan,
the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people
familiar with the matter.
GM will stop production of the subcompact
Chevrolet Sonic by as early as this year,
and is planning to discontinue the Chevrolet
Impala in the next few years, the Journal
said.
It also reported that Ford will stop making
the Fiesta small car for the U.S. market by
as early as next year, and discontinue the
Taurus, once the top-selling car in America.
Overall, U.S. sales of new cars are down nearly
11 percent this year and are on track to drop
for the fifth straight year in 2018.
Automotive News, in its annual Future Product
series last summer, reported the Sonic, Impala,
Fiesta and Taurus were widely expected to
be discontinued at the end of their current
product cycles.
The Detroit News in July also reported that
Ford and GM were looking to stop production
of those vehicles.
"Nothing formal to report today," Steve Majoros,
marketing director for Chevrolet's cars and
crossovers, told reporters on Wednesday when
asked about the Journal report.
"But I would say for all three of those products
[Sonic, Impala and Volt] we are committed
to those.
They're a part of our portfolio today, they'll
be a part of our portfolio here in the future.
"Every car we have in our portfolio plays
a role, every car's important and you know
the only way we're going to stay the fastest-growing
brand is to keep providing the vehicles that
people want.
So they're a part of our portfolio and they're
going to continue."
U.S. sales of the Sonic have fallen 21 percent
to 5,983 vehicles this year while Impala deliveries
have plunged 36 percent to 14,067.
Taurus deliveries are off 25 percent this
year in an overall large car market that has
shrunk 12 percent.
The Taurus debuted in 1985 but was dropped
in 2006 in favor of the Five Hundred sedan.
Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally revived the Taurus
name for the 2008 model year.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has already pared
the Dodge Dart small car and Chrysler 200
midsize sedan from its U.S. product portfolio
to better focus on light trucks.
The move to drop car nameplates comes at a
time when U.S. consumers are increasingly
shunning sedans and coupes in favor of crossovers,
pickups and SUVs.
Last month, Ford disclosed plans to pad its
product portfolio with more light trucks,
and add more hybrid and pure electric vehicles.
Ford late last year began telling suppliers
it is ending North American production of
the Fusion midsize sedan, which Automotive
News reported in December.
As we have said, by 2020 trucks and utilities
– including their electrified versions – are
going to be almost 90 percent of our volume.
Passenger cars, including Fiesta and Taurus,
remain an important part of our lineup,”
Ford spokesman Mike Levine said in a statement
Wednesday, in response to a question about
the Fiesta and Taurus.
Ford’s Lincoln luxury brand last week unveiled
a production preview of the all-new Aviator
crossover that’s expected to be built at
Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant next year,
which also builds its sibling Explorer crossover
and the Taurus.
Last month, GM unveiled a revamped luxury
Sierra pickup, intensifying the battle among
the Detroit 3 for fat profits at the top end
of a highly lucrative segment.

OG Abel & His 1964 Chevrolet Impala - Lowrider Roll Models Ep. 10

OG Abel & His 1964 Chevrolet Impala - Lowrider Roll Models Ep. 10

MotorTrend Channel:

- I think the most
important step in changing
the negativity around you,
is to stop playing the victim.
Take advantage of the many
options that we have here
to become whatever we want to become.
(slow emotional music)
I love lowriders because as a kid,
I used to have a neighbor
that had a '63 Impala
'76 Glasshouse and I'd help him wash it
and he'd be so proud of it, go cruisin'.
Fun guy to hang around with and
he had a bunch of girls, so.
(laughs)
(upbeat music)
I have a 1964 Chevy Impala Hardtop.
It's a sky blue in
color, original interior.
It's sitting on fourteen by seven
Zenith wire wheels.
It's lifted, with four
batteries, two dumps.
It's got a 350 motor with a Powerglide.
Originally, it was featured
in Lowrider Magazine.
It was fully restored.
It's what you call a daily cruiser
because it's set up to get up, turn on
and go for a cruise
and enjoy a nice drive.
I also have a silver
1960 Impala convertible.
It was a project car, it
had a little bit of rust.
The interior was shot, replace
the whole undercarriage.
Basically do the whole car all over again.
It's taken me about 11 years to restore.
Sometimes it's a little bit of a headache
trying to find the right
person to work on it.
It's been a long, long time coming,
and I'm finally excited
to see it at this stage.
I was born in the state
of San Luis Potosi,
which is Central Mexico.
I was born in an adobe house
with tin roof and dirt floor.
Things got a little tough
for my mom to support us.
I think I was like, eight, or seven,
when she decided to bring
myself and my other brother.
I remember we went to the coyotas house,
and late at night, they
came and picked us up,
and we had to sneak across
and go through a tunnel.
They brought us to ...
We ended up in Compton, at
first, and that was where
I first saw my dad.
I think my dad is a great
man, and he's an honest,
trustworthy, hardworking, intelligent man.
Being that my dad had that problem with
alcoholism, and coming home
and doing what he did,
it kind of pushed the boys away.
Being that I was the oldest, I think,
I felt it was more my
responsibility to set an example
and try to help them out.
When you live in an
area, like South Central,
with those types of surroundings,
you learn to put up a front.
You put up a wall.
You learn not to back
down and defend yourself.
My little brother, he was a good kid.
He was second youngest, good
heart, took care of my mom.
And he went out and got
some mail for my mom.
Then he went to a friend's house.
It got a little late.
I think they went into a store.
They got into an argument
and they left the store.
They went to that friend's
house and he was sitting
with his back to the window
and somebody shot him.
That friend said that he told his friend
to take care of his mom.
I was 24 years old at the time.
He was 15 when he got killed.
He was an up-and-coming artist as well.
He had a bright future ahead of him
and it was just taken
from him, just like that.
It's just a lot of anger and
things you don't understand.
You just, all you think
about is getting back.
I needed to do something
and take my head off of it.
I went to LA Trade Tech and just like that
all that negativity
started turning positive.
My father always told me
that artists die broke
and artists don't make any money.
Their artwork makes
money after they're gone.
But I knew that I enjoyed
just getting into it
and seeing what I could do with a pencil,
and likewise, on a wall.
The graffiti, the Djing,
rapping, breakdancing.
It was fairly new.
It was a time where you had hiphop.
It was an escape from reality I think.
And it gave us a sort of freedom from
all the issues and problems that we had.
(upbeat music)
I'm Abel, I'm the artist
behind OGAbel Collection.
OGAbel is a lifestyle
brand. We do accessories,
we do from wallets, to belts, to hats.
A brand that's well known
throughout the world:
Canada, Australia,
Europe, South America.
I've collaborated with a
big brand, and we just did
a licensing deal with the Rockstar Games,
so you can actually play Grand Theft Auto,
and add some of my
tattoos to your character.
I've collaborated with
Coca-Cola, with Sony,
with commercials, with Sprite, done shoes,
and we've sold hundreds
and thousands of shoes.
And we have a pretty
good following and people
that look forward to
seeing the new designs
that we come up with.
(upbeat hiphop music)
To describe my art, it's
actually a little edgy.
You got to relate to a struggle,
to something that moves you.
Something that somewhat offends you,
something that makes you happy.
I think, with all of my
art, there's a balance.
What I value the most is the opportunity
to share with people my art.
What inspires me
is life,
things that have gone on in my past.
I get hit with an image, I see
it in my head already done.
So what I do is actually like a printer.
Ideas come at me and I just
print them with my hand.
The creative process from
concept to completion
is somewhat different
from one piece of art,
or one idea, to the other.
What I do is I jot it down,
even if it's a quick thumbnail.
Once it's in my sketchbook,
I can never forget it.
As soon as I look at 'em, I know exactly
what I was thinking and
where I can go from there.
What makes us different and separates us
from other companies is
that my heart and soul
goes into every design.
I care about my art, how my artwork looks,
and the quality of it.
It's more about creating
a following as a person,
it's more personable.
That's what separates us
from most other companies.
There's a reason why so many people choose
to migrate to the U.S.
is because it's known
as the land of opportunity.
Being brought here to the
U.S., I didn't like it,
I wanted to go back.
But, everything that I've done,
and everything that I've gone through.
It wouldn't ever been
possible if had I stayed,
or had I been left behind.
I'm thankful for my mom
to have made that decision
a very long time ago.
Some people look at
lowrider owners as gangsters
or cholos, or ...
It's something that's worldwide.
There's lowriders in
South America, Australia,
Europe, all over the world.
It depends on what you love to do.
I like to draw.
Some people, their
passion, is restoring cars.
It's as if they were artists
and they're working on their masterpiece.
What you have at the end,
is their work of art.
So it's probably the
equivalent of what I do
when I draw or when I paint.
I love life, I love traveling,
I love experiencing new
things, I love building.
Like I've done all my
life, roll with the punches
and just go with the flow and have fun.
I think that's what life is all about.
My name is OGAbel, I'm an artist.
And I'm a Lowrider Roll Model.
