2017 Chevrolet Suburban Review | Features Rundown | Edmunds

Edmunds:
SPEAKER 1: I'm editor,
Travis Langness
and this is an Edmunds Expert
Rundown of the 2017 Chevrolet
Suburban.
For 2017, the Chevy Suburban
doesn't see too many changes,
pretty much stays the same
except for a few new items
like a low speed
emergency braking system
that pairs with it's
Collision Warning System
and a Teen Driver Mode for
your secondary drivers.
But that's pretty
much a good thing.
The Chevy Suburban is big,
utilitarian, can tow a lot.
It can seat up to
nine passengers.
It can tow as much
as 6,300 pounds
in the right configuration.
It is really big though and
that kind of gets in the way
if you're living
in a city, trying
to maneuver it in tight spaces.
A lot of the crossover
based competition
is going to be
better if you want
good fuel economy on the
highway and things like that.
And also when it comes to
the Suburban's nine passenger
configuration, you can only
get it on the base trim levels.
The trim level you see here,
as we go into the interior
and open it up, has
fewer than nine seats.
It's got the two cabin seats
up front, two in the rear,
and then three wide in the back.
And that back seat is actually
a little bit flat and a little
uncomfortable for road trips.
If you're going on a
long distance trip,
you might not want to
be sitting back there.
There's a lot of
cargo capacity though.
And as we mentioned, you can tow
quite a bit with the Suburban.
Also the fit and finish is nice.
There are multiple trim levels.
A lot of different options
you can add to the Suburban.
Pretty much any way you
want to get it you can.
of nice tech that can be had.
The Chevy MyLink System
is pretty easy to use.
Lots of good knobs and
buttons on the dashboard.
Easy to press when you've
got gloves on in the cold.
And also nice big
chunky steering wheel.
Bottom line, the 2017 Chevy
Suburban is super utilitarian.
It's great for big families.
But it's also worth
checking out its rivals
like the Ford Expedition
and the Toyota Sequoia.

First look: 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

Cars.com:
Patrick Olsen with Cars.com at the State
Fair of Texas here in Dallas where we
give the 2015 Chevy Tahoe
and Chevy Suburban now they share the
same platform with the Chevy Silverado
pickup truck according to our detroit
bureau chief
Aaron Bragman they don't share any sheet
metal and that's unusual the new
headlights
look sleeker the car the tolex leaguers
as we look down the side here
you can tell that it's longer and
shorter less cue by then it was in
previous generations
in addition the door ends well below the
top other offer before these to go over
the top
the previous version was for better
aerodynamics this is better to keep the
when noise down inside the car in the
back there's a cool feature
if you're trying to you know you've got
a home people you've got some DRO or
something that's really all you drop the
third row with the push of a button
but if you need more space to clear up
the second row
with another button they give you a shot
all the way through now the downside
with that is that the stock dropping to
the floor
they create their own for so the load
for is actually higher than it used to
be
there could be an issue for some people
now take a look at the inside
now are inside the Tahoe the LTZ trim
which is the highest from available
similar to what you get the silverado
but the center stack is not this one
comes at seven mile Inc now we do get
there are couple have USB plugs here I
get a with
teenagers three of them that these
things are crucial to charge their
phones their iPods whatever
should be smarter than they've added a
couple more there's two more USB
connections here and an SD card reader
and that's terrific
up on top with that a 9-inch screen that
could be linked to an available Blu ray
player
this car comes with a host of other
high-tech features as well those
features include Ford a collision alert
wine spot detection system lane
departure warning
a safety alert seat front and rear park
assist
and center side airbags for the front
seats if you're in the mood for towing
the tile can talk to any five hundred
pounds
this moment up to eighty three hundred
pounds if you're looking for the show me
tells us that the beyond your lives
sometime in early 2014

McCluskey Chevrolet:
If you’ve been considering the 2020 Cadillac
Escalade, then check out the 2020 Suburban.
The Suburban has a standard “limp home system”
to keep drivers from being stranded if most
or all of the engine’s coolant is lost.
The engine will run on only half of its cylinders
at a time, reduce its power and light a warning
lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get
to a service station for repairs.
To reliably start during all conditions and
help handle large electrical loads, the Suburban
has a standard 720-amp battery.
The Escalade ESV’s 660-amp battery isn’t
as powerful.
The Chevrolet Suburban may be more efficient,
handle and accelerate better because it weighs
about 250 to 300 pounds less than the Cadillac
Escalade ESV.

2012 GMC Yukon XL

Cars.com:
cars.com auto review
hi I'm Kelsey mays for cars.com and we
just spent about ninety dollars filling
up this GMC yukon XL receipt says thank
figures if you're going to take your
kids and pilot for a road trip just make
sure if you have a yukon XL that you
bring Benjamin with you if that
surprises you will just look at the name
it says XL
this thing is 222 inches long that's
about 20 inches longer than a regular
length
yukon and believe it or not the yukon XL
zpa gas mileage about 17 miles per
gallon combined with the base v8 is
better than competitors like the toyota
sequoia ford expedition el plus it has
tons of cargo room and pretty good
towing capacity
you don't need that stuff get a
crossover SUV like the GMC acadia or
maybe a Ford Explorer honda pilot those
get to 25 miles per gallon better and
combined EPA ratings but if you do need
these capabilities something like this
might make sense
you can excel is a fairly heavy SUV it's
about 200 pounds heavier than a regular
length
yukon weighing close to about three tons
for our four wheel drive test car right
here
GM's 5.3 liter v8 isn't really up to the
task of pulling that very confidently it
kind of numbers off the starting stop
requires a lot of reserve power to keep
up highway speed
I put in six adults including myself and
it required just about everything that
the drive train had to keep up speed on
the interstate
the six-speed automatic is standard it's
a little bit choosy with the gears to it
hunts a lot for gears doesn't really
have you a lot of times in the right one
the expedition el is similarly slow but
the 5.7 liter toyota sequoia is a lot
quicker if you want to sacrifice a few
miles per gallon
now the yukon XL does benefit from
roomy cabin and a comfortable suspension
our test car has an optional adaptive
suspension that filters out bumps really
well there's plenty of room in the cabin
behind the third row is about 45 cubic
feet of cargo volume have plenty of room
for all the crap that your kids are
going to throw in the back if you take
out the third row it's a little bit of a
chore
each of the 50-50 split third row seats
weighs about 50 pounds of peace that's
comparable to the second row captains
chairs in a minivan but if you take them
out and you fold down the second row
seats you're looking at about a hundred
and thirty-seven point for a cubic feet
of maximum cargo volume that is minivan
territory know many men can touch the
Yukon excels towing capacity most
drivetrains max out around 8,000 pounds
and there's a yukon XL 2500 with a
6-litre v8 that maxes out at nine
thousand six hundred pounds
that beats the expedition in the Toyota
Sequoia doesn't even come close
the penalty though is gas mileage yukon
XL 2500 gets ready for it
12 miles per gallon oil
so if you need all those capabilities
it's worth considering
chevy suburban that's the Yukon excels
corporate twin from the Chevrolet side
and it costs a little bit less now the
Yukon Excel does have a few extra
standard features and there's a denali
version with a 6.2 liter v8 that's
unavailable in the suburban but really
these are both very very similar SUVs
so unless you're getting the denali or
your GMC dealers offering a steep
discount the chevy dealer cross county
isn't it's hard to see why you wouldn't
go with the suburban
