GM Truck Shootout -- 2019 GMC Sierra Denali vs. 2019 Chevy Silverado High Country: Comparison

Car Confections:
While everyone knows that the f-150 is the best-selling pickup in the U.S.
What a lot of people don't realize is that when you combine the sales of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra
General Motors sells nearly as many trucks as the blue oval but say you're one of the approximately
800,000 people that know for sure you want a new GM truck
You still have to choose between two foundationally similar, but distinctly different products
for this comparison
We hope to answer that question by directly comparing a top-of-the-line Silverado high country to the equivalent Sierra Denali
So let's go ahead and get to it
Like always the first thing on the agenda is establishing the pricing and option levels of the two models
Starting off with the brand-new Silverado. Like I said, this is the highest trim the high country
It starts off at a little over fifty six thousand dollars
But from there, we have the high country deluxe package optional 6.2 liter v8
Technology package power assist stops and a couple other things
after adding in the destination charge of fifteen hundred dollars
You have the most expensive Silverado 1500 they've ever made at sixty six thousand four hundred twenty-five dollars
as
You would expect the Sierra Denali has a richer starting price of fifty eight thousand dollars due to its classier brand image
But after options are added in the two are quite similar
Like the Silverado we have every possible option including the weighty
$4,800 Denali ultimate package
Plus the 6.2 liter v8 and destination charge bringing the total to sixty-seven thousand three hundred forty dollars
That places the price difference at under a thousand bucks
Which definitely means pricing is not going to be the deciding factor when choosing between these two
Anyways now let's go ahead and get into the comparison
Normally this is where we get into a real detailed analysis of the engine transmission and fuel economy differences
But in this case, they are exactly the same
Like I mentioned they both have the optional 6.2 liter v8 making 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque
that top engine is paired with the top transmission a 10 speed automatic jointly developed with Ford and
They both have standard four-wheel drive as far as the fuel economy
They both come in at 17 combined though. For some reason the Silverado does have a 1 mpg advantage in the city
Now let's talk about the driving as you would expect they are pretty much the same besides for one important difference
The Sierra Denali comes standard with adaptive ride control while the Silverado does not offer this system at all
Therefore even though the Silverado does ride quite nicely you're going to get that extra level of
Refinement from the GMC since it can make adjustments for motion control and right isolation
Well, that's it for the powertrain so now let's check out the exterior designs and specs
Now heading on to the outside, I do realize that looks are subjective so I'm not going to do points for this part
of course on the Chevy you've got the signature split grille design with high country branding and bronze accents and
The GMC gives you the signature bold chrome mesh grille
Both feature high intensity LED headlights and LED fog lights, but with very different designs
At first glance you'd think that the sides are exactly the same but upon further
Evaluation there are some important differences
The GMC has more chrome trim around the windows and more importantly the wheel wells are plastic trim squares
compared to the Silverados newfound circular wheel arches
in
The back they are pretty much the same besides for differences in the execution of the tail light and tailgate designs
Now you're probably noticing what looks to be a tailgate inside of a tailgate for the GMC
Which looks a little strange from the outside but adds a lot of functionality
This is known as the multi Pro tailgate and it can be put into six different modes
Including a bench one for tailgating and access step a bed extender or even as a little desk
The Chevy's tailgate doesn't have those functionalities
But instead it has the ability to both power open and close something to Sierra can't do
Otherwise both beds are made from high-strength steel with plenty of tie downs have LED lighting and very easy accessibility
Thanks to both bumper steps and running boards that slide backwards for side access
But beyond that stuff we're mostly looking at very similar features with subtle variations
for example
Both trucks have really nice-looking
22 inch alloy wheels as well as mirrors with heating power folding LED lighting and auto dimming
- the Denalis chrome mirror caps
For safety systems both trucks have the same equipment when fully loaded
Including blind spot monitoring forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection
Lane departure alert and auto high beam headlights
Strangely though. Neither have adaptive cruise control at this time
And lastly to wrap up the exterior
Both have 24 gallon fuel tanks and towing capacities of 93 hundred pounds when you opt for these fully equipped models
Well that pretty much sums up the practical exterior features, but now let's get inside and see which truck offers more luxury for the owner
Before getting in both trucks have the same key with remote start
Now once we open the doors it's very obvious that they are related to each other
There are far less changes to the cabin than on the outside. And unless you get the high country's brown interior option
They are almost indistinguishable visually
However, there are some differences abound like the leather on the heated and ventilated eight-way power seats
The high country gets the same leather as the lower trips
While the Denali comes with an exclusive wide grain leather that looks and feels a bit better
Now as far as the rest of the materials they are 90% similar but the Sierra does the details better
The Silverado uses a special bronze colored plastic trim for the high country and a faux wood trim
While the Sierra uses an authentic aluminum around the screen and real open pore ash wood
this again just gives it a little bit of a higher-end feel as
Far as the displays that the main one is eight inches and there is a second 7 inch display in the gauge clusters
Obviously there is some variation and the design but the functionality is all the same and that also applies to the head-up displays as well
Coming back to the steering wheels, they're actually pretty different from each other
The gmc's is box here with more of that real aluminum and a nicer leather
in that general area both have column shifters that pull up a
360-degree camera when you put them in Reverse
these are some of the best camera systems in the industry since they have so many different views and such high resolution, but
Here on out there is nothing to distinguish these two trucks
They both have the same center console entirely including all the storage climate buttons and plugs
They both also have the Bose 7 speaker premium audio system. Let's go ahead
This is overall an excellent sounding system moving up to your screens the systems have different names but are exactly the same
They have the latest graphics, very ergonomic layouts navigation and Android auto and apple carplay
The last things to look at up front are the rear camera mirrors and moonroof
It is worth noting that a panoramic roof is not offered on either truck
Finally to end this comparison the back seats are completely identical
With heated seats charging USB ports and secret storage areas
so with that we wrap up this in-depth comparison as
You can see these two trucks are still extremely similar this
Generation and it really just comes down to personal preference about what type of image you want to convey
The GMC carries the more luxurious aura and the Chevy has the more hard-working image, even though they have the same capabilities
Anyways, we hope this quick comparison between two of the nicest trucks on the industry will make your decision easier

2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500: First Look – PickupTrucks.com

Cars.com:
this is our first chance to see the 2020
Chevy Silverado heavy duties right next
to me is a 2500 LTZ and you can look at
it and tell that this is an all-new
pickup truck powertrain design interior
everything has been completely redone as
far as powertrains the carryover Duramax
diesel is gonna come to the new 2020
Silverado HD s what you have here are
some Auto Show cables so it might look a
little bit different but still the exact
same carry over engine 445 horsepower
910 foot-pounds of torque but now has a
10 speed heavy-duty Allison transmission
made it up to it also the big news in
all-new 6.6 liter direct injection v8
engine 401 horsepower 464 foot-pounds of
torque now that new gas engine is also
made it up to a revised six-speed
transmission and also one thing to
consider here if you're doing any work
on your engine on these new heavy duties
they're a little taller than they were
before so when you're trying to reach
for this hood it's a little difficult
inside everything is going to be very
familiar to the Silverado half-ton
pickup truck regular extended and crew
cab is going to be larger more legroom
especially for rear passengers but the
inside - very very similar to what we've
already seen on the half tons dual glove
boxes this is the LTZ package very nice
organic looking center console plenty of
storage here in the middle and also a
uniquely designed gauge cluster for the
driver another feature we like an
all-wheel drive capable transfer case on
a heavy duty vehicle that's a segment
exclusive here at the back of the truck
we love the fact that it's got the rear
view cameras push button tailgate drop
does it automatically you also have four
fifth wheel or gooseneck hitches you've
got the 4 and the 7 pin hitches here on
the inside also a three-prong 120 volt
plug here on the opposite side and then
you've got almost 7 inches of extra
width in the beds and the longest beds
in the segment no matter what the cab
configuration
and then because this has the auto
dropout a lift tailgate one push button
and it'll send the tailgate right back
up and closed
there's obviously tons to talk about
with this new vehicle and we will be
talking more about this after we get
some time behind the wheel but to call
out just two features that we really
like the DEF tank is right here at the
fuel filler and the fact is that every
single duly equipped Chevy heavy-duty
Silverado 3500 with the diesel will be
able to tow over thirty five thousand

2019 Chevrolet Silverado - Review & Road Test

Kelley Blue Book:
When Chevrolet first revealed their
fourth-generation full-size Silverado
they dangled it from a helicopter onto a
massive stage.
Hey, our reveal is just as extravagant.
Okay so maybe we need more helicopter
budget, but we're on dirt and those used to be pine trees. So here it is the
fourth-generation Chevy Silverado.
Okay, I can't.
You know I'm not sure this looks that
different from the previous model. There
are four grille options, this is one of
them and it's bigger and beefier than
the previous generation, but other than
that it looks pretty much like a
Silverado. It does have a steeper
windshield and adds a roof spoiler for
better aerodynamics, but also rides an
inch higher than the third generation.
Thanks to its new bigness the second row
in the crew cab expanded. There are three
more inches back here of space for your
legs, but if you prefer to haul stuff
inside the 60/40 seats fold up. There are
a lot of cool storage spaces.
Check out that cubby. It's pretty neat.
This is bigger than some apartments I've
lived in.
Bed size also benefits from the
Silverado's expansion to the tune of
seven inches of width thanks to GM now
stamping the beds into pieces. It's also
stronger, which is a good thing for tough
payload.
Even the 12 standard tie-down loops are
stronger, and there's an optional power
tailgate, which we think is cool. The
Silverado comes in eight models. The Work Truck
comes with vinyl or cloth seats
and 17-inch wheels, remote keyless entry,
a USB port, seven-inch touchscreen and
Chevrolet's Infotainment 3 system with
Apple CarPlay and Android Audo. Optional
safety features include front and rear
parking assist, lane change alerts with
blind zone warnings, and rear
cross-traffic alerts. Those are some good
options for a base model truck. The
Custom trim adds 20-inch aluminum wheels
and LED tail lights. The Trail Boss adds
a 2-inch lift and the optional Z71
off-road package, which of course
requires four-wheel-drive and includes a
locking rear differential, skid plates,
and 18-inch Goodyear Duratrack tires
for off-roading. Step up to the LT trim
and there's the aforementioned
optional off-road equipment, an
eight-inch touchscreen comes standard as
well as a step up to the 8-speed
automatic transmission from the 6-speed
in lower trims. Hill descent control is
also a good option for when you're
coming down from all those mountains
you're driving over. The LT Trail Boss
includes the off-road capabilities of
the custom Trail Boss. Looking for a
sporty or Silverado the RST trim
includes body coloured exterior trim LED
lighting and 22s.
This high country is at the top of the
Silverado trim mountain, and it is swank
at the summit. Everything is covered in
leather and it's pretty comfy in here in
a truckie kind of way. Both front seats
are heated and ventilated and the
driver's side has 10-way power
adjustment including lumbar. Micah!
It's wireless charging capable and the
storage in the center console is so big
you could probably fit a whole bucket of
fried chicken in there. The Bose audio
system is awesome, you know what, if I
went camping I would probably just stay
in here. Six powertrain choices are
offered on the Silverado. Those larger
two are new options and include GM's new
dynamic fuel management system which is
able to use as few as two cylinders
cutting fuel to the rest for improved
fuel economy. The diesel option is new too. Some EPA numbers weren't available for
various power trains at the time of this
videos making, but here are those that
are.
The 4.3-liter V6 offers up 285
hp and 305 pound-feet of torque.
The 6.2-liter V8, which is in this High
Country crew cab I'm driving has 420
horses and 460 pound-feet of torque. With
a curb weight of 5,000 pounds, a payload
capacity of a little over 2,100 pounds,
and towing capabilities of 12,000 pounds
I'd say that power is going to come in
really handy. That's cute.
Incidentally that's less towing capacity
than a similarly powered Ford F-150 but
more than the RAM 1500 and the same as
the GMC Sierra, which makes sense because
they share power trains. But how does it
drive I hear you ask? You know what? I
have a really good way to find out. Why
thank you.
On the road the Silverado feels sturdy
and solid but surprisingly un-trucky. It
actually drives like a much smaller
vehicle. That might be thanks to Chevy
shaving off up to 450
pounds depending on which Silverado you
drive. The Silverado makes easy work of
curvy mountain roads and is maneuverable
enough to not get you in too much
trouble when parking in relatively tight
spots. The High Country's more refined
road manners are partly due to a 10-
speed automatic transmission with which
it is equipped. Shifts are quick and
smooth. It's tight ratios keep the engine
closer to peak power when at full
throttle. It also makes for easier
operation when towing. It's too bad this
transmission is only an option on the LT
trim and above with the diesel or 6.2-
liter engine. The cabin is quiet. I don't
hear the road and there's no notable
vibration or noise coming from the
engine when that DFM system is doing its
thing. You know if someone was looking
for a midsize crossover alternative with
more utility and towing capacity then
the Silverado drives nicely enough that
it should be considered an option.
Base price on the Work Truck will cost
you around $31,200 including
destination. Our tricked-out High Country,
which is at the top of the spending
spectrum is more like $67,000. This one
also has the Deluxe package that
includes safety features like forward
collision alert, lane keep assist with
lane departure warning, low speed forward
automatic braking. It also has a sunroof,
all-season tires, as well as the Tech
package that gives us the surround
vision camera and head-up display. Those
safety features come in handy especially
in a big truck like this. Sometimes
little things like Miatas or cyclists
are really hard to see. You know, I kind of
feel like the blind spot warning is
pretty much on all the time in this
thing.
The purchasing sweet spot though is
probably the LT trim that starts at just
under 40 large and comes standard with
the 5.3-liter engine and the 8-speed
transmission, but is optional with the
diesel engine mated to the 10-speed. It
also opens up more optional packages
that include tilting and telescoping
steering wheel and navigation. If you're
in the market for a full-size truck the
fourth-generation Silverado has a lot of
competition to check out including the
F-150, Sierra, Ram 1500 and even the
Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra,
but the Silverado has a lot of great
qualities to consider. It's well equipped,
nicely powered and a good-looking truck
that rides nicely on the road. See no
splashy helicopter entrance necessary.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax Diesel Review - Worth the Wait?

Edmunds:
[MUSIC PLAYING]
SPEAKER: What's that sound?
Oh, just six
cylinders and a drum
line turning diesel to torque.
That's right, this is the
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax.
Man, I feel so tough right now.
Do I look tough?
No?
OK, whatever-- let's
talk about this truck
and why you might want or not
want a diesel in your half ton.
That's not a euphemism.
If you're shopping for a diesel
truck or any kind of truck,
visit us at edmunds.com.
And make sure you follow
us on Facebook, Instagram,
and Twitter.
1500 is what I'm interested
in, because I don't know.
I would call it the
most consumer truck.
This is the truck you might
have as a daily driver,
to do some towing,
some adventuring.
But now it is available
with a diesel engine.
Every 2500 and 3500
heavy-duty pickup truck
comes with a diesel option.
And they sell very well,
despite being more expensive
than the gas engines.
The same hasn't been true for
the 1500 series half ton trucks
until Ram reintroduced
a diesel in 2014.
Before that, it was
gas engine only.
Why does that matter?
Well, diesel engines
are cool, because they
make a lot of torque.
That's the muscle
part of the engine,
and it helps for easier towing.
They also offer
better range and fuel
economy than a gasoline engine
carrying the same weight.
Diesels are especially good
at providing respectable fuel
economy and range
while towing, which
makes them very popular with
people who have horses or boats
or race cars or
big camper trailers
or pretty much anything
that you might need to carry
from one place to another.
The 3-Liter Straight-6
Duramax in the 1500
is so quiet and chilled out,
that you would never even
know it was a diesel if
you didn't see the badge.
I haven't been in
any diesel vehicles
that I would describe
as a rocket ship,
but it is plenty quick.
We're moving.
Because the 3-Liter Duramax is
a smaller engine than what's
available in the
heavy-duty trucks,
I like to call it the Baby Max.
But it makes 277 horsepower
and 460-pound feet of torque,
which is a very grownup number.
The 3-Liter is backed
by a 10-speed automatic
transmission, and
it's really nice.
It shifts smoothly on
hills and while towing.
And as we are unladen right now,
I don't even notice the shifts.
It's effortless.
It doesn't pull
quite as effortlessly
as its heavy-duty siblings,
but the 15000 still
has cool trailering tech.
And it is more
than ready to take
some dirt bikes or a small
camper out for the weekend.
Speaking of trailer
tech, this thing
has 15 different camera views.
You can see everything
that's happening everywhere,
in space even.
You guys, you guys,
you guys, yeah,
there's a buffalo right there.
There's two buffalo.
That is so cool.
Hey, guys, do you like my truck?
Every time I get into a big
truck, I'm always thinking,
am I going to be able to
see out of this thing?
Is it going to be
hard for me to drive
because I'm not a big person?
Seat moves up.
The steering wheel moves down.
Visibility is great.
And also, did I mention
15 camera angles?
This thing is fine.
I've been in small cars that
were harder to see out of.
But you might be
watching this and going,
well, I am a big
person, so is it
going to be comfortable for me?
And that is why I have driven
around with many big people
this week.
And they have all said that
they have plenty of room,
including in the back.
Another big question
whenever you get into a truck
is, is it going to
handle like a truck?
Is it going to
Are we going to be
bouncing around in here
and having to slow down
to 10 miles an hour
for even the slightest corner?
No.
No, actually you don't.
The suspension is
tuned really well.
We were driving around
in the mountains,
and it was not a problem.
We were able to keep
up with traffic.
We didn't feel big and unwieldy.
Now, if you're
already a GMC fan,
you already understand
the vibe of GMC.
But if you're not, you
might be wondering,
what is GMC compared to Chevy,
which is a sibling company?
Or where does GMC fit
in the truck market?
GMC describes itself
as premium pro.
So is the Sierra meeting
that luxury idea?
OK, it's kind of interesting,
because from a driving
perspective, I would
say absolutely.
I mean, it's smoother than
some Cadillacs I've been in.
I think the drive
quality is really nice.
I think the handling is nice.
And again, it's so quiet.
From a material standpoint,
in the interior,
ahh, I think they could
push a little bit harder.
It's sort of weird,
because I would
say that, from a tech and
performance standpoint,
GMC is doing a good job of
providing a premium experience.
There's this cool mirror that
flips to have a full view,
not blocked by anything
that's in the truck.
And you can get heated
and cooled seats.
And again, it's very
comfortable in here, very roomy.
It's just the actual
physical materials
that are covering the
interior, they're only OK.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
I sure wish I had
somewhere to sit.
Well, you look at that.
I'm a fan of the half
ton with diesel grunt.
This is a good truck.
GMC is doing it a
little bit differently
than some of the
competitors, with a focus
on driving comfort and tech
over top towing numbers.
But unless you're hauling
something every day,
I'd say the 3-Liter Sierra
is a great workhorse
to add to your stable.

SILVERADO - Everything You Need to Know | Up to Speed

Donut Media:
(crowd noise)
- Yeah man, I'm a Chevy
boy, Bowtie Brigadier,
Bowtie Brigade, First Sergeant,
General Staff Sergeant.
You know my truck's got
them Realtree camo seats,
them rockstar rims with
that star in the middle, uh.
Yes, got a lift six inch.
I can pretty much go
(snort) anywhere I want.
Yo, you thirsty?
I got 30 rack and 90 likes in the back.
(spit)
(laughter)
This is everything you need
to know to get up to speed
on the Chevy Silverado.
(energetic gaming music)
The history of Chevy's Silverado begins
with Chevy's iconic C and K
series full size pickup trucks.
The C/K models span four
generations between 1959 and 2000.
So what is the difference
between the C and the K series trucks?
About eight letters.
(laughter)
It was the drivetrains.
The C was rear-wheel drive.
And the K was four-wheel drive.
Chevy C/K trucks were trusty
steeds and were well loved
by anyone who made an honest
living hauling heavy payloads:
ranchers, farmers, fishermen, race teams,
farm farmers, fish racers, etc...
We'll do a whole episode on the C10 pickup
but this is about the Silverado.
So we're gonna skip ahead a bit.
In the late '70's, Chevy
introduced the name Silverado
as a trim level of their
third generation C/K truck.
It was a bit classier with
chrome trim and a snaz interior,
hashtag #snaz.
Let's make it a thing.
But maintained the offroad ruggedness
that was earning there
like the rock reputation.
By the early '90's, them
boys 'n girls at GM realized
that the landscape of the
American truck market had changed.
Import trucks had created
a new small truck market
through the '80's.
And Chevy knew that they
had to go one of two ways
with their new truck line.
Smaller and more fuel efficient?
Or bigger and more badass?
So what would they do?
They already had the tiny S10 pickups so-
They went bigger!
Bigger!
(shouting)
(beep)
[Announcer] Hey guys, hang on.
Hurry up.
We'll be - don't worry, it's going
to be fixed any minute now.
(beep)
- Chevy doubled down with
the Silverado and decided
that while the other guys were
all chasing their tales making
little baby (bleep) trucks,
they would position the
Silverado as the workhorse
against which other's
workhorses would be measured.
In 1998 through the 1999
model year, a bigger,
badder Chevy truck, the
Silverado, finally made it
on to the scene.
Okay, guys- I want to
paint a picture for ya.
It's 1998, I'm just realizing I want cars.
I'm living with my dad for
the first time in six years.
I find a picture in a car
magazine of a Chevy Silverado.
"Dad, I want this truck!"
And he's like, "Sure."
He was a liar.
I couldn't- We couldn't afford that.
Anyways, one of the
first cars I ever wanted.
I thought it was cool as shit.
I lived in Kentucky.
Back to the story.
The Silverado was setting
a new standard for trucks.
It was bigger, faster,
stronger, and smarter.
Bigger, faster, stronger, smarter.
The Silverado 1500 got better
gas mileage than the F150,
made more power than the Dodge Ram,
and could tow more than either of them.
(tires burning out)
After proving itself to
be America's best truck,
the Silverado earned Motor
Trend's Truck of the Year award.
Sure, they gave it to the
Mercedes M-Class the year before
and the Aerostar Minivan in 1990,
but that's besides the point.
The top of the food chain, large adult son
of the Chevy truck line-up
during this generation was
the 3500HD which stands
for heavy hog- hashtag #heavydog.
Let's make it happen.
And get ready all you diesel nerds,
here's the thing you've been waiting for.
Duramax!
(exhaust spewing)
The 3500 heavy dog was
powered by a 6.6 liter
Duramax diesel V8
and cranked out 360 hrsprs
and 650 pound feet of turk.
This big boy could tow
almost 17,000 pounds,
and haul around 5,000 pounds in the bed.
That's enough to carry
my two buffest horses,
Dice and Carlin.
But what if you don't
need to haul heavy stuff?
What if the only thing you
need to haul is (bleep)?
Enter the Chevy Silverado Super Sport,
a 345 horsepower beast, powered
by Chevy's 6 liter LQ9 V8.
It came with a four
speed automatic gearbox,
all wheel drive,
and had an aggressive
four ten gear ratio for-
basically burnouts.
It was a burnout truck.
(tires burning out)
(tires squealing)
By 2006, it would come
with more cool upgrades
like performance
suspension, 20-inch wheels,
and even a limited edition Intimidator SS
which I will talk about-
right now.
Dale Earnhardt was one of the winningest
and most badass race car
drivers in American history.
The very sight of Dale in
the rearview was enough
to make you quiver with fear.
Catching a glimpse of
that legendary mustache
intimidated the competition
in to submission,
thus the Intimidator.
In 2006, five years after
Dale's tragic death,
Chevy honored his memory with
the Intimidator SS edition.
This sport truck only came in Onyx Black
and had a whole bunch of
sick appearance upgrades
like a rear spoiler on a truck,
headrests emblazoned with an image
of Dale winning against a big E,
and Intimidator badges all over.
Handling was improved.
It had bigger anti-roll bars
with the locking 3.73 diff in the back.
You know what that means, right?
Big old smoking burnouts
with both tires spinning!
Do it for Dale!
I really like this guy and
everybody should watch NASCAR.
(tires burning out)
As fun as race inspired trucks are,
they're not the reason
most people buy trucks.
Most people, who buy trucks, buy trucks
because they're rough
and ready work doers.
And that brings us to perhaps
the most iconic Silverado
there is, the Z71.
I know you've seen the iconic Z71 badge.
I'm about to tell you cute,
little babies what it means.
Originally, Z71 was just an internal code
for an options package.
For ordering purposes,
the Z71 package came
with upgraded Bilstein
shocks, skid plates,
and an offroad ready locking rear diff.
(tires spinning)
To their complete surprise,
the Z71 sold like hotcakes.
And why wouldn't they?
The fact that the most
purpose built version
of Chevy's most purpose
built truck further proved
that when you wanted a
real truck workhorse,
you got a Chevy.
(tires spinning in mud)
Chevy had also been running
their like the rock adds
for over a decade.
And by 2004, nine years
after Post Malone was born,
I guess they figured
they'd made their point.
Chevy's new umbrella slogan
for all of their vehicles was-
- [Announcer] Chevy Silverado,
an American revolution.
- And they tried to
expand their market share.
Chevy offered it as a
hybrid in 2004 dubbed-
the Silverado Hybrid.
The Silverado Hybrid was
also the first mild hybrid
which used an electric motor just to help
with starting up, charging batteries,
and powering accessories.
So, it wasn't really one.
The second generation
Silverado was everything
the first generation was and more.
It de-butted in 2007 and got a more plush,
more upscale interior,
with a revised exterior,
with smaller panel
gaps, and tighter lines.
It sat atop an entirely new frame
and completely revised suspension.
The new frame improved body
stiffness by a massive 92%,
a bigger transformation
than Christian Bale going
from The Machinist to The
Dark Knight in under a year.
The new 6.2 liter, 403
horsepower Vortec V8
was now available to
make the new truck faster
and haul more libs.
The new, sleeker body design
offered better fuel economy
which was getting more important
while America entered the Great Recession.
Speaking of fuel economy,
you can finally get a six-speed
automatic transmission,
a much welcomed upgrade
over the previous gen's
dog of a four-speed.
Welcome to the 21st Century, Silverado!
(peppy country music)
Chevy aimed to make it even better.
2014 saw the introduction
of a brand new Silverado
after the second gen's seven year run.
The third generation K2XX
Silverado came on the scene
with updated body work, better
grill, bigger wheel arches,
and a host of new trims and engines.
What else were you
expecting, it's a Chevy?
(tires burning out)
For the third gen Silverado, GM did away
with the Vortec family of V8s
and introduced the Ecotec V6s and V8s.
They made more power, baby!
With this generation, Chevy
made a bunch of changes
that increased the strength
and dropped the weight
of the new Silverado.
They used aluminum in
the hood, engine block,
and massive control arms to save weight.
Ask your grandpappy if
he ever thought the hood
of a Chevy truck would
be made out of aluminum.
And he'd say, "Who are you?"
"Give me my nurse."
This was also the first time
the Silverado had a model
with high luxury, high
spec, and high class.
The High Country came with a
beautiful leather interior,
all the amenities you could want,
and because it's a Chevy, special badging!
(tires burning out)
The biggest development
with the third gen Silverado
was the massive amount
of special editions.
Whoo boy, were there special editions.
There was the Texas
edition, Alaskan edition,
Rally edition 1, Rally
edition 2, Blackout edition,
Midnight edition, Midnight HD
edition, Custom Sport edition,
Realtree edition, Redline
edition, Special Ops edition,
High Desert edition.
Oh my god, I think that's it.
But wait, you forgot about
the Costco Sport HD edition,
the LT, the LTZ, the Z71.
Oh my god, it's gotta
be the most- cause might
as well talk about history.
It was all kinds of trucks
for all kinds of people.
This year Chevy debuted
the fourth generation,
T1XX Silverado.
It has an even more aggressive front end,
more muscular wheel arches,
Robocop-inspired headlights,
and a healthy mix of engines.
This one is also the first time Chevy
has put a 2.7 liter turbo
under the hood of a Silverado.
This turbo four cylinder engine gets
as much as 22 pounds of boost.
This little puppy cranks outs 310 hrsprs
and 348 pound feet of turks.
Just like before, if you've got a pulse,
they got a Silverado for you.
And don't lament the
loss of the Z71 package
because they still got twos of them,
Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss.
It's got a fricking lift, offroad tires,
and of course a skid plate.
And it doesn't stop there,
the 2020 Silverado will be even bigger.
And for al you coal bros, you pervs,
the old Duramax diesel
V8 is gonna give you
910 pound feet of torque
through a new Allison ten speed.
Keep'em coming, Chevy!
(spits)
(crowd noise)

2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD: FULL REVIEW | Does High Country = PEAK of Luxury??

Car Confections:
What's going on YouTube?
So a couple weeks back we brought you guys a review of the all-new heavy duty Sierra
But now today it's time to check out Chevy's more popular version the brand new Silverado 2500 HD
Of course
we would like to specially thank our friends at Sutherland Chevrolet in Nicholasville for giving us access to this loaded truck and
If you're in the market for any new Chevy, make sure you stop by their dealership or visit them virtually via their website
Which we provided a link to in the video description
So as always we'll start things off with the exterior styling
Now as many of you probably remember this truck didn't get the best reception when its photos were first unveiled
But I'm happy to report that in person. It's actually a very handsome design
This high country model is the one that has the more traditional design
Since it uses the regular Chevy bowtie grille with thick chrome bars
Bronze accents between them and the high country branding under the right headlight
Surprisingly though the LTZ and every other trim below it now have the non traditional grille which has Chevrolet spelled out across it
As far as the headlights both of the top two trends pretty much have the same design
With two separate housings and stacked LED headlights in the bottom
and
then finally along the bottom both have LED fog lights housed inside either a chrome bumper on the LTZ or a
body-colored one on the hike up
Moving on to the side right now only crew cab is being offered with your choice between the normal and the long lives and
in the back
It adopts the same design the 1500 debuted last year
With Chevrolet written out across the back and the new wiggly LED taillights
So overall while the new heavy-duty is a pretty dramatic departure from the alcohol and model in person
It has a great mixture of traditional and modern cues
Now turning to the wheels heavy duty trucks do have to have smaller ones for capability purposes
Which is why this high country comes standard with 20-inch polished out voice instead of 22s, like on the 1500
As far as the LTZ it has 18s with a similar design
Heading out to the mirrors
They are massive towing ones with just about every feature that could be thrown at them
You have normal and convex mirrors auto dimming heating power folding power
Extension puddle lamps and front and rear facing lighting
We also have blind spot monitoring which is standard on this model and optional on the LTZ
Now beyond BSM importantly you now have some active safety features on board
Ford emergency braking and auto high beam headlights both of which were not available on the outgoing model
But getting stuff done is definitely most important to HD trucks
So checking on the tailgate first
It is the same as on the regular 1500 so it can impressively both lower and raise with the press of a button
the bed lifts in height is now one inch lower this year and it can be accessed through either the back bumper step or
the new side one as
For the bed itself Chevy says it now has class-leading volume 12 different tie-downs
and we also have the power outlet and the cutouts for fifth wheel towing and
Speaking of towing all versions of the HD make absolutely huge numbers
This specific model is rated for eighteen thousand five hundred pounds
But some versions can't go all the way up to a maximum of thirty five thousand five hundred pounds
But anyways, that's it for the outside so now let's go ahead and see how luxurious they have made the cabin
So as you would expect your two higher-end trims do come standard with Chevy's smart entry system as well as remote start
And you get inside the vehicle itself in typical chevy fashion, you're just gonna press the button and it will unlock the door
All right, so taking a look inside the 2020 Silverado HD high country
As you can tell the cabin is a more familiar place than say the exterior. For example
But there are plenty of unique touches and plenty of changes versus the outgoing generation
now as far as your material and color options both the LTZ and the high country do come standard with real leather seating on the
LTZ that's going to be available in jet black or Gideon grey however here on the high country
You have jet black or the more expressive combination of amber and jet black which is what we have. I
Also do want to mention the seating arrangement what you'll be looking at is the bench seating
on all the models except for the high country
This does come standard with the bucket seats, but you can't option on bucket seats to the LTZ
Now turning over here to your door trim since this is the high country
Of course, you do have the best materials of the bunch
So you're looking at a real leather through here with the nice color contrast color here
We do have top touch plastic with more stitching as well as some faux wood accents on the high country
Both the LTZ and the high country do come standard with two-person memory seating
And as far as your windows, they are OneTouch auto up and down for your driver and passenger
Now coming down to your seat
It is 10-way power adjusting with two-way lumbar support on both the high country and the LTZ
And like I already said you do have real leather on both of those trims, but only in the high country
Do you have this really nice looking color contrast design
So you've got like different accents different types of stitching and piping details as well as the stitched
Embroidered name up here on the headrest. It's definitely a very very attractive looking seat
Now as far as getting into the HD, of course, this is a very large truck
But we do have standard running boards. Now just be aware. These are fixed in place. They are not retractable like on the 1500
But as you can see, they are very large so easily put your feet on there
And you do also have a driver side assist grip here
And like I already mentioned this being the high country does mean we have both the best materials and the most visually interesting design
So across your upper part above the gauges here is soft touch. However, this part here is hard touch
But when you go down just a little bit more you come to this color contrast section. This is a leatherette
With color contrast stitching that goes around it and all over this area
Coming down to your lower areas. We have some more of that
Realistic faux wood trim and you get more of that perforated leather and color contrast
Leather design here on the armrests then everything does fit together very well also
Now it is worth mentioning that on the high country. You have the unique
kind of bronze finished
Material that goes around here as well as on the steering wheel. Like I said that's exclusive to the high country
Now on your top two trims you do have standard push-button start
And when you press it, you're gonna find this 8 inch display fire up on the LT, LTZ and the high country as standard equipment
All right, so checking out the gauges here
What you're looking at is the premium version this version comes on the high country only and has the eight inch
reconfigurable gauge cluster display here in the middle
This is optional as well on the LTZ
But regardless of which one you choose you actually have pretty much the same information
More or less basically your gauges of those top four gauges are rendered digitally on this
But you have options to change the design and do things with like safety systems
within this screen
Now in addition to that high country is also going to come standard with a very very nice
15-inch head-up display, this is the largest in this segment
And it's one of the largest I've ever seen definitely very vivid
Can contain a lot of different information once you start moving and if you change the settings around
and
Coming back to the steering wheel
Of course, you're gonna find a nice leather wrap steering wheel across all the models and you do actually have hydraulic power steering
So that's kind of a more of an old-school heavy-duty type of thing
We do have some cross stitching on the steering wheel
like I said
We have the bronze on the high country. And then as far as your buttons, you do have buttons for your cruise control
Heating on both the LTZ and the high country and then on this side you get your multi-function display buttons phone and voice controls
As far as steering wheel itself it is always manually tilt and telescoping
As far as your shifter you still have a color mounted shifter just like always
So obviously that's very simple you're just going to pull down for Drive
You do have these little toggles if you want to control shifting manually
you will notice just like the
1500 Silverado the towing button as well as your other drive mode. They've been relocated over here to this little toggle
So you just scroll through as you can see you do have a normal and an off-road mode
And then you can flip over to the other side for the towing mode. And you also have your four-wheel drive controls, right
Now when we go into reverse here
You will find a standard backup camera on both the LTZ and the high country, of course
But what we're looking at here is the upgraded surround vision camera system
This is an option on both the LTZ and the high country
And we've discussed it previously and both the Sierra as well as other GM vehicles
But this is one of the best camera systems in the entire auto industry
You have just an absolute ton of views really really great resolution as well
So I'll point out some few of the important ones. This is obviously a good view for you to backup
For your trailer you have kind of a 3d view for getting out of tight spaces
You have side view so you don't grind against anything
We also have a bed camera which is thrown in with this surround vision system
and we can't activate it right now because obviously we don't have a trailer but
This does do the same thing as the Sierra which we pointed out last month
Which you can basically see through the trailer definitely a class exclusive feature and super super neat
Now having that column-mounted shifter does have plenty of benefits when it comes to interior storage obviously you've got a ton of it here so
You get a little area right here on the top to start off with but underneath here
We have an absolute massive amount of space. this is super deep
very wide you have a removable mat as well as
Illumination and you'll find one of your standard USB is one of your USB type C's and an aux jack
Moving forward we've got our two cupholders a small area here
Another small area here and then this large pad here does double as a wireless phone charger
As far as other odds and ends we have some area along the side
We have some space up here pretty deep space actually up on the top of the dashboard
And then just a ton a ton of space in the door trim
So you're definitely going to have plenty of space for whatever equipment. You need to get the job done
As far as other controls in this area
here are your other USB ports another 12-volt outlet a
Household stop outlet and then you also have your controls for your trailer brake
This being the diesel above that. We have the exhaust brake system. We've got some buttons for our safety systems tailgate release
traction control this turns on and off the outlet and then this is before
Rolling down all the windows at once. I've never seen that button before on any
Trucks, but definitely an interesting and handy feature
Now the next stop up the dashboard here is our climate controls on both the top two trims it is dual zone automatic
and as you'd expect for a truck focused on ergonomics
It is very simple. You have three knobs to control your main functions here
You also have your zones located right here as well as your other buttons
So there's really nothing that you need to consult the display for though. You can have it up there if you prefer
As far as the seat controls you will have the three-stage heating on both the LTZ and the high country
However you it is standard
The ventilation is standard only on the high country or you can option it on via the convenience package on the LTZ
Alright and now we are up at the audio system so the six-speaker audio system is standard equipment
However, this being the loaded model we have the seven-speaker Bose premium sound system. So we'll go ahead and take a sample
Overall sound quality is excellent
And now that pretty much brings us up here to our Chevy infotainment system three this of course is new to the heavy duty trucks
So we'll go ahead and take a quick look now as far as your main features here
I just want to point out a couple of the highlights and the most important things
Because this is the same Chevy implement three system that you've seen in other models
So the first thing I want to point out is that we do have navigation
This is the integrated navigation system the newest upgraded version and that's standard on just the high country
But you can't auctioned on to the LTZ if you want to
Regardless though you will find that you have standard apple carplay and android auto and
Those of course do have built-in navigation functions if you want to use those instead
Additionally, we do have a Wi-Fi hotspot
This is where you'll find the Wi-Fi name as well as the password to sign in and this is included free
For a three gigabyte trial or the first month of ownership
But anyways, that's pretty much the main features of the Chevy infotainment 3 system
However, we do have a much more detailed tech help video available
For those of you who want to learn more about it a link to that is provided in the video description
I
and heading on up here we do have a auto dimming mirror with your three home like universal remotes mounted right here
But continuing the trend of having more cameras than basically any other vehicle I've ever been in
We also have GM's rear camera mirror
Then coming on up here go find that we have a moonroof
This is actually not standard on any of the trim levels. It is a
$995 option on both of them
And as you can see, it's the standard size unit. There is no panoramic moon available at this time
But overall the cabin of the high country Silverado HD is certainly a great place to spend time
Just like with other HD vehicles
You have this extreme mixture of both a lot of storage a lot of capability
But now with this new model we add in a ton of luxury and a ton of Technology
So anyways that does it for the front areas
So now go ahead and hand it off to my brother Mason who will check out the back areas
All righty
So hitting around to the back seats of the all-new 2020 silverado heavy-duty
You are going to find a good amount of space as you would expect
Now we are covering only the LTZ in the high country. So that is available in this crew cab configuration
So you are going to find a lot of legroom
Technically it's rated at forty three point four inches of rear legroom and forty point one inches of rear headroom
Which like I said is absolutely massive
You're not going to have any issues in terms of space and it's right on par with that of the Ford f250 Super Duty
Now turning over to the door trim. It is really nicely appointed especially on this high country with the color contrast
So we do have a brown portion right here as well as black contrast and some of that real wood trim
now we do have a auto down window and
down below that we do have a lot of door storage as you can see there is tons of it and
Turning over to the seat itself. Like I mentioned we do have that color contrast design
It looks very very premium and it is also very comfortable
Now getting in is quite easy on this high country, so just step on the running boards you do also have an assist grip
Now here in the center, of course Chevy is going to give you plenty of features
especially on this high country model
so up top when you have two cupholders with a little storage area in between and
down below that you will find standard air vents across all of the models and that's a feature that wasn't even offered at all on
the previous Silverado heavy duty
Now off to the side you will also find a three-stage heated rear seats
which are included standard on the high country model and down below that you will find a smart charging USB a USB type-c and
a 12 volt power outlet
Now, of course we do have a nice fold down arm rest
It is what the rep has two cupholders inside in another little storage area. I
Do also want to point out that this power rear window glass is high-country exclusive as well
And up top. We do even have a a nice cut out for extra Headroom as well as some LED lighting and
a coat hook
Now as far as where legroom is concerned like I mentioned this is a a ballute massive amount of space
So behind your seating position
I probably have about two foot of space between my knees and the seat back and my feet can easily slide up underneath the seat
And so as you can see, you can basically completely stretch out back here
Now, of course the seats themselves are very practical since this is a heavy-duty truck after all so you do have several features associated with
them you can pull this strap down to kind of fold it down like this and
Down below that you will find this strap and this strap actually opens part of the seat back and will give you a little storage
Area that is completely hidden from view. So if there's something really valuable it would be a great spot to put it
Now of course
You can also fold the seat up
so you have to do is grab underneath and it does fold right up and
Underneath you do even have a nice little storage box to put your tools and stuff
and
you know if you had something really big you could pull both sides up and
Fit like something really big back here in case it was like raining and you didn't want in the bed. That is an option here
Now coming over to the passenger seat it is the same adjustment as a driver
And in front of the passenger you do have a nice color contrast design with the signature two part opening glovebox
So you have a nice storage compartment right here and down below you have your standard glovebox
So it makes for a lot of different storage configurations
And up top we do have a Sun Visor with LED lights and a mirror and it does also detach and except
But anyway guys that's all the practical stuff about the Silverado heavy duty
So now let's go ahead and take it out in the road and see how that diesel engine performs
All right, so now that takes us to the heart of this beast
two different powertrains
they're both 6.6 liters, but we have the option between a v8 and
It's her bogies are now the standard gas powered v8
That produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque
However
The vast majority of people go ahead and bite the about
$9,000 bullet and
get the
6.6 liter turbo diesel engine
because that produces
445 horsepower but
910 pound-feet of torque, so it's absolutely insane
You know and it's what allows this vehicle to tow just about anything. You can possibly throw at it
As far as your transmission you'll be looking at a 6-speed automatic with the gas powered model 810 speed automatic with this diesel model
And then of course you do have the option between two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive on this high country. Its four-wheel drive modeling
And then lastly in regards to your fuel economy
It's not EPA rated because it's so massive
However, a lot of people have been curious to see what kind of mileage actually gets and this particular model gives us the opportunity to
Do that because somebody has been driving it for
112 miles and so I obviously don't know how they've been driving it. They could've been flooring it continuously. Whatever
But the mileage on average is a 10 point 3 miles per gallon right now
But anyways fuel economy is not what you get this truck for. It's about that
910 pal feet of torque. So let's go ahead and take it on the road and see how that is
So first taking off here 2020 Silverado heavy-duty turbo diesel
This pattern is just ridiculous. I mean, I don't know any other way to really describe it
Just like in the Sierra we drove like two or three weeks ago
it's really no less shocking here on the second round because it's just so
effortless
Like I'm gonna use you can see it visually
You just kind of put your foot down
and without
Any drama whatsoever like not a bunch of noise
nothing
Just rocket. Let's trade off down the road
And you're going 60 and the blink of an eye
With a truck that it literally feels like a semi with a gigantic heavy-duty truck
You know and just cruising down here we are going like 55 miles an hour and it is just so smooth in here
You know
That was one of the things that impressed me the most about this year that we drew was talking about is just how smooth these
trucks ride
You know here in the high country
I mean it literally feels like a luxury car through and through you can't feel any types of bumps in the road and
it really is just a
absolute superb ride in here
It's very very impressive
a little bit a turbo whistle that you can hear
Definitely a pretty cool sound and just adds to the effect of the speed
Just like that up to highway state
It's really just a lot of fun, you know, it's not only very practical and usable, you know, if you're gonna tow something
You know, it actually is really fun to drive
Right. It really makes sense to me why
most people go for the diesel because
well, the gas has some of this experience of course, but
The torque on this is just insane and you there's nothing else that has this type of power
You know
Besides these heavy-duty trucks. That's the there are the only types of vehicles that can can do stuff like this
And also just kind of the fact that
Literally anything you look at you're bigger than besides maybe that dump truck out there
You're actually bigger than everything else on the road. I mean even SUVs like that Kia Sorento
It looks like a little ant on the road. So it really kind of just gives you a really nice commanding presence
which I know I
Mean all of you guys who are looking to buy in. This class are definitely looking for a commanding view of the room
And you have a lane departure warning as well since you kind of look down I'll see you on the lanes
You know, it's kind of almost like a video game type of perspective when you look down at the lanes
I'm noticing compared to the Sierra AT4 we drove
Feels a little bit firmer as far as the ride quality and like I had mentioned in that review
That being the offer a focused model does come with softer Springs, you know to have that articulation available to you
so
You know, this has a little bit more a little finer body control
But also a firmer ride
Versus kinda a body roll and a softer ride just different things to keep in mind
And they're really the last thing I want to discuss is just the 10 speed automatic transmission
It simply does an excellent job, I mean it is really really really smooth
So in conclusion if you are in the market for a semi-truck
You should really just come and look at one of these instead
so I can tell you this is a whole heck of a lot more luxurious a lot more high-tech and
It would definitely win a drag race next to a semi truck
Like I said is amazing this time around as it was when I first experienced it with the Sierra. It's just a remarkable
overall package
All righty, so let's go ahead and discuss the pricing of this 2020 silverado heavy duty
So you're going to find very competitive pricing with all the rest of the heavy duty trucks
So all of the prices that I'm about to quote you are for the crew cab regular bed in the two wheel drive versions
So just keep that in mind as I named off these prices
So for the very base work truck that's going to be forty one thousand four hundred
The custom is forty three thousand six hundred
The LT is forty four thousand six hundred
The LTZ is going to go up to fifty three thousand three hundred
And then finally you have this top dog high country trim, which is going to start at sixty one thousand one hundred dollars
Now this particular high country is definitely highly optioned as we do have pretty much everything we can add
In like true mentioned we have opted for the Duramax diesel, which is a nine thousand seven hundred fifty dollar option
We also have the high country deluxe package for three thousand and sixty five dollars. We have the optional sunroof for nine ninety five
we have optional white paint for nine ninety five as well as all Weather Floor Liners four to ten as
was the trailer tire pressure monitor for 50 and then
We do actually have a discount of five hundred dollars for the high country deluxe package
so all told when you add any destination charge of one thousand five hundred ninety five dollars you are going to come to
77260 as your price for this pretty much fully loaded
High country model which is worth noting if your cross shopping this let's say with the GMC Sierra Denali
That's probably its closest
competitor here
It is going to be a little bit cheaper from high country to the fully loaded Denali
And you are going to see you know a little bit of a price discount for them
Well guys we've enjoyed watching one of the first in-depth looks at the all-new
2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 high country
Please hit those like and subscribe buttons if you haven't already
And we'll catch you next time as you sing for more of the latest automotive delicacies!
2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali or the New Silverado? | First Drive | Edmunds

Edmunds:
[UPBEAT MUSIC]
DAN EDMUNDS: We're
here in Newfoundland,
and this is the GMC
Sierra 1500 Denali.
This is the first
chance anyone's
had to drive this all
new truck, and we're
going to find out if you should
buy this instead of a Chevrolet
Silverado.
This is GMC's new
MultiPro Tailgate,
and it's configurable
in six positions.
Let's go through them.
The bottom button
here opens a tailgate
like a normal tailgate.
But from here you can
open this load stop,
and it'll keep items
from sliding out.
And if this was a
6 and 1/2 foot bed,
there would be enough
room here for a 4' by 8'
sheet of plywood.
You can also touch
the top button,
and now it opens so you
can get in closer to load
like a cooler or
something that's heavy.
And from here, you fold the stop
down, and it becomes a step.
And you just hop right in.
And it's wide enough
that you could
do that while you're pushing
a motorcycle up a ramp, too.
Close this.
Start back here.
Open this, and now you
have a different kind
of load stop for items that you
might want to have angling in.
And if you fold this down,
now you've got a work surface.
So, yeah.
That's the MultiPro Tailgate.
It's pretty nice, got to admit.
I want that.
We've seen this corner
bed step before,
but this year, it's bigger and
more compatible with heavy work
boots.
But that's not the only trick.
Kick the running board, and
it comes out and puts itself
in a position where you can
get into the bed really easily.
Kick it again, and it returns.
This Sierra Denali I'm driving
has the 6.2 liter V8 engine,
which makes 420 horsepower
and 460 pounds feet of torque.
That is quite a bit.
I'm not able to use
much of it here,
because the speeds on the
island are pretty slow,
and we're not towing
anything, so it's pretty much
just loping along in
a really high gear.
And there are a lot of
gears in this transmission,
because the 6.2 is paired
with a 10 speed automatic.
If you get the 5.3, which is
the base engine in this truck,
the 8 speed comes with that.
If you get something
below a Denali,
then you get into
the 2.7 liter turbo.
In the future, they'll
be a 3 liter turbo
diesel that will also
come with this 10 speed.
It's got adaptive damping, which
means there's electronically
controlled shock absorbers
that have a couple of modes.
It does some adjustment on
the fly while we're driving,
but I can also set it to
sport mode or comfort mode.
I think they call
it touring instead.
The thing is, it's
not proving to be
terribly comfortable here.
Probably because this
has the optional 22 inch
wheel and tire package, which
doesn't have much sidewall.
You know, the jury's out on
that until we get it home,
but right now it's a little bit
clompy and a little bit shaky
once in a while.
Definitely quivers after
you hit certain bumps.
But selecting sport
mode doesn't just
change the adaptive
dampers, it also
adjusts the weight of
the power steering.
Right now in touring,
it's a little bit light.
I go to sport mode
by flicking that,
and it firms up
just a little bit.
Not a huge difference, but
there is a difference there.
So if you buy one of these
trucks with a standard 3.23
gearing, you have a tow ring
that's under 10,000 pounds.
If you want to boost it
up over 10,000 pounds,
you need to option up the
truck with the 3.42 gearing,
which also gets you a little bit
stiffer spring and heavy duty
cooling.
All that comes together if you
pick the optional axle ratio.
The GMC Sierra has a full range
of models down to work truck
and up to the Denali,
but it definitely
skews towards the higher end of
the luxury part of the market.
It competes with the most
highly optioned versions
of the F-150, the Ram 1500,
and even the Chevy Silverado.
But in its lower
cost forms, they're
still good work truck
value to be had.
At first glance, the
interior of the GMC Sierra
is pretty similar to that
of the Chevrolet Silverado,
but there are differences that
The leather looks and
feels more high end.
There's some wood trim
here, open pore wood trim.
And the knobs have
this texturing
that makes them look more
attractive and a little bit
easier to use.
And then there's
the gauge package.
There's a configurable
display that
has a lot more power than what
you'll see in a Silverado.
Plus, there's a heads-up display
that projects information up
onto the windshield,
so you don't have
to take your eyes off the road.
And here is a rear
view camera mirror,
which displays an image from
a camera up by the third brake
light above the bed.
It's really quite clear,
and you can zoom in
and change the brightness.
I really like this.
I mean, we have one
of these on our Bolt,
but it's mounted lower,
the camera isn't as good,
and it kind of makes
me queasy to use it.
But this one-- this
one is really nice.
The basic design of
the dash itself, to me,
isn't that interesting.
It looks pretty similar
to the last generation.
It's kind of vertical
and monolithic.
They've somehow managed
to make the screen look
smaller than it is.
It kind of gets lost in the
mass of this center stack.
The knobs are pretty
easy to understand,
but they also aren't
that interesting.
There's a lot of space
that isn't being used here.
And then, this
power outlet, I've
attached things to the
window on the Silverado
and the cord goes
right across this
to get to this power outlet,
so not a fan of that.
Just the one USB here.
USB-C as well.
There is another USB inside the
center console, so that's good.
And this is a 120 volt outlet
that you turn on and off here.
There's another one in the bed
that this switch also controls.
Considering this has a column
shifter and not a pistol grip
shifter like the F-150,
this console area
is still kind of small.
I mean, especially when you
look at the new Ram 1500.
They could've done more with
the space it seems to me.
This is a wireless
charge pad though,
but there's just not
very much bin space.
The GMC Sierra's interior is
quite a bit more user friendly
and more feature packed
than the Silverado,
but it's still based
on a design that
isn't terribly interesting.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
I'm pretty comfortable.
I have to admit.
There's a ton of
leg room back here.
They added three inches
compared to last year.
Just like the Silverado,
but this is adjusted for me.
I'm six foot two.
I got tons of room back here.
Lots of toe space.
It's pretty easy to kick back.
I'd like the seat
back angled where
you reclined a little bit more,
but it's really not that bad.
GM, Ford, RAM, they all have
tons of leg room this year.
That wasn't the
case before, but now
you can pick between the
three, wouldn't really matter.
This doesn't recline or have
any of those extra features
that the Ram has, but
it's pretty comfortable.
It does have
tri-level seat heaters
back here, which is nice.
There's a USB and a USB-C
port, just one of each.
And they're power
only, so you're not
going to serve any music up
to the front end from here.
There is a 12 volt power outlet.
And then of course you have
a fold down center console.
And they've got these clever
little compartments here,
one on each side.
There's one behind me.
I'm not going to open
that one right now,
but you get the idea.
As with all pickup trucks like
this, the seats in the back
fold up.
These are split 60-40.
So I can fold up
the other side here.
You can see the
floor is pretty wide.
It's not as wide as
some of the others,
because of this
little wall here.
And the transmission hump is
just tiny, but it's there.
But still, it's a good
amount of space with both
of these seat backs flipped up.
So the GMC Sierra
Denali 4 by 4 Crew Cab,
which is what this is,
starts for about $58,000.
This particular one
with the options
it has stickers
for over $67,000.
And it's got two main options
that get it to that price.
One is the 6.2 liter V8 which
costs $2495 right off the top.
And I think a lot of people
are going to want that,
because it's pretty darn good.
But you don't have
to get that engine.
You can stick with the
standard 5.3 V8 and the 8 speed
if you want Denali.
The other option
that this truck has
is the Denali Ultimate Package,
which is just over $5,700.
And it includes the
rear view camera
mirror, heads-up display.
It also includes this
trick camera system
that has multiple cameras
all around the truck.
And then there's the
forward collision warning.
The lane keeping assist, blind
spot monitoring, all of that
stuff.
The one thing it
doesn't have, which
is kind of an odd omission,
is adaptive cruise control.
The Denali 4 by 4
with the 6.2 liter V8
is rated at 17 MPG combined.
That's 15 in the city
and 20 on the highway.
The interesting point
is the 5.3 leader
V8 is also rated at 17 combined
but it's 15 in the city
and 21 in the highway,
so you're not really
giving up that much if you get
the 6.2 V8, except the $2495
it costs to buy it.
The standard gas tank in
this truck is 24 gallons,
but you can opt for a larger
one, which I would recommend
if you're going to
do any sort of towing
for any length of time.
The Denali comes with
an 8 inch touchscreen
that has Apple Car Play
and Android Auto support.
It also has built-in
nav, which is great
when you travel off the grid
in places where you don't
have any cell phone coverage.
Like everything else
these days, the Sierra
has steering wheel controls
that operate the stereo.
They're on the back
where you can't see them.
But they're right here under
your fingertips, which is nice.
They don't clutter
up the front of it.
That leaves room for the menu
controls, cruise control,
a couple of other switches for
like a heated steering wheel,
which is nice.
Little bit weird action here.
One of them's a roller
in the up-down direction,
and then it's a rocker
on the left-right,
but imagine you'd
get used to it.
It still would be nice
if they were the same.
Yeah.
It's really clean looking,
and everything's right here.
You really don't have to
move your hands around
very much to operate any of it.
One of the things I do
like about this interior--
I mean, the materials in general
are upgraded really nicely,
but there's not a lot
of overly shiny chrome.
I mean, this is kind
of a hand rub finish
that they've got
here for this metal.
It's not as shiny as some
real plasticky looking chrome
can be.
And so there just
isn't a lot of stuff
that can reflect light
back in the driver's eyes.
And I really appreciate that.
[ROCK MUSIC]
My favorite truck is
still the Ram 1500,
but this has a lot of
things going for it.
It's got the 6.2 V8
10 speed transmission.
Works great.
But I really like this
tailgate most of all.
For my money, I take the GMC
Sierra over the Chevrolet
Silverado any day.

The First 5 Silverado Parts You Should Buy Under $500 For 2014 - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado - The Haul

AmericanTrucks Chevy & GMC:
Hey, guys.
Adam here with americantrucks.com, and on
this episode of "The Haul," we're taking a
look at my top 5 starter mod picks under $500
for the 2014 and newer Silverado.
This list can obviously differ from person
to person.
This one's gonna be a little bit well-rounded
with a variety of different categories included.
And before we get started, make sure you subscribe
to our YouTube channel to stay up-to-date
on all things Silverado and Sierra.
So the first one I wanna start off with is
arguably one of the most common truck owners
will first do, the side steps.
Now, these are Barricade's 4-Inch Oval Bent
Side Steps with the body mount in black.
Now, there are a lot of side steps in the
category, all of which do essentially the
same job, so it is hard to pick one right
off the bat.
So it comes down to exactly how much you're
looking to spend and what kind of styling
you're going for after all.
Now, this one, as you can see, has that bent
end design that mounts directly to the body
and frame on both sides in the powder-coated
black finish that gives it that corrosion
and rust resistance layer.
The two-stage precoating obviously helps with
that as well.
Now, the biggest thing I wanna point out here
is the ABS plastic textured matte finish with
the tire tread pattern on the slip-resistant
pads.
Now, this will help you get in and out of
the truck safely no matter what the weather,
rains, snow, slid, or shine, and it's definitely
gonna be a reliable way, especially if you
have a lifted truck.
Now, these come in just under the $200 mark,
making it an extremely budget-friendly price
tag and the perfect mod for our top 5 under
$500 list.
Now, this one installs pretty easily.
The brackets go directly onto the frame.
The bar mounts right to the brackets.
No drilling or modifications required.
Now, it's really a no-brainer as to why this
made our top five list today.
So next up on my top five starter mods list
is something that plays a huge part in functionality
as well as styling on the back end of your
truck, and it's gonna be the tonneau cover.
Now, there's a number of different tonneau
covers on the site in the category and all
over the aftermarket world, but TruXmart has
really taken their tonneau covers to the next
level, making it so much easier to use.
Now, they have the Tri Fold, which is exactly
what we have here today on this list, but
also the Quattro Fold, Smart Fold, and Smart
Roll.
Now, all of them have a smart latching system,
and they're all under the $500 limit to fit
this video today.
Now, these are all some of my personal favorites,
and let me tell you why.
Now, TruXmart introduced their smart latching
system, which is essentially gonna make opening
your bed a lot easier.
So you drop the tailgate, and there's a clamp
on each side of the end of the tailgate allowing
you to open up or unlatch your system and
fold it right back.
In this case, it's the Tri Fold, so your bed
cover is gonna fold back at three different
sections, giving you access to your bed in
portions.
This is super useful depending on what kind
of cargo you're hauling, but you also might
want to check out the Smart Roll or Smart
Fold options as well depending on how you
want your bed to be accessed.
Now, all of this actually offers another big
functionality by giving you superior aerodynamics.
Now, when you don't have a bed cover on your
truck, there's a lot of wind resistance against
the back tailgate, which can actually shed
a mile or two off of your fuel efficiency.
Now, when you have a tonneau cover on the
back of your truck, it actually gives you
a lot better aerodynamics, and it can actually
save you some money at the pump.
Now, TruXmart does make this very durable
and very reliable as far as construction.
The UV-resistant black vinyl on top won't
fade in the sunlight, so it does stay pretty
fresh-looking at all times throughout the
years.
Now, the frame rails going across here are
aluminum and help support any weight that
does go on top of the tonneau cover here.
If your snow is piling up in the wintertime
if you're on the East Coast, like we are,
this will hold up to all that added weight.
And, finally, it will protect all of your
cargo inside the bed, thanks to the weather-stripping
going around.
You don't have to worry about water getting
in and damaging whatever you got.
Now, this cover comes in right around the
$300 mark, which, I think, is super affordable,
and it makes it so easy to add it to our top
5 list today.
The installation is gonna be pretty simple.
You just attach your bed rails and clamps
to the side of your bed.
Now, the smart latching system kinda hooks
on to the bottom of those clamps and makes
it easier for you to unlatch in just a couple
of seconds.
Obviously, a no-brainer for our starter mods
list under $500 today.
Now, next up on the mod list here is something
that almost all truck owners have thought
about at one point or another, and it's lifting
your truck.
Now, a lot of guys might be scared off by
price tags, thinking that it's one of the
most expensive things to do to your truck,
and that's actually not the case at all.
Now, if you're looking to stay on a budget,
like we are here, under 500 bucks, this is
a good way to do so, and what I've chosen
for this list is the Rough Country 3 and 1/4
Inch Suspension and Body Lift Combo Kit.
And you can pick it up for yourself to get
the look that we have here.
It's a good way to fit some bigger wheels
and tires, of course, if you want some 33s
like these, and it's obviously a good way
to get a more aggressive and meaner-looking
truck overall.
Now, this particular kit comes from Rough
Country with 1 and 1/4 inch rear lift spacers
as well as 2-inch strut spacers for the front.
Now, the rear lift spacers are gonna be a
superior fiberglass-reinforced construction,
very durable stuff there, and, of course,
the spaces in the front are also gonna be
the same way.
Now, this lift also levels out the truck here,
bringing your front end up a little bit to
match the rear.
A lot of guys do wanna get a leveling kit
and a suspension kit all put together in one,
and this does just that.
Now, the cool thing about this is you are
gonna fit 33-inch tires or up to 33-inch tires
comfortably with no modifications necessary.
Now, that's also gonna be a good thing with
your ground clearance, because bigger wheels
and tires, bigger lift kit on your truck does
give you some off-road capabilities that you
otherwise would not have with the stock setup.
Now, with that said, this entire kit, the
body lift and suspension combo, comes in just
under the $300 mark for everything you see
here.
It's a perfect match for anybody looking to
get a small jump in ride height without going
too tall and obviously being able to hop in
comfortably, especially for guys like me,
if you're vertically challenged.
Now, the installation here does require some
modifications under the body, but I definitely
don't think it's the hardest thing in the
world.
I would have recommended having a cutting
tool on deck that you are most comfortable
using.
This kit does perfectly fit with our top 5
under $500 because of the added ground clearance,
the bigger wheel and tire configuration, and
just a more aggressive look here.
It's definitely one of the first choices if
you're gonna lift your truck on a budget.
Moving on under the hood, we're actually gonna
talk a little bit about performance here.
Now, we've got the AIRAID MXP Series Cold
Air Intake with the SynthaFlow Oiled Filter.
Now, a cold air intake in general is typically
one of the first mods you would do to a truck
or a car, just because it is so damn easy.
Now, the AIRAID 1 is one of the more well-known
brands in the category, because they've been
reliable and pretty trustworthy for years
and years, decades even.
So this particular kit here is gonna completely
replace your factory airbox, which is pretty
restrictive.
They kinda open things up and give you a better-breathing
engine.
This will lead to a small bump in horsepower
and torque as well as throttle response and
even fuel efficiency.
Now, the way that works is you actually get
a black polyethylene tubing, which is gonna
help with completely unrestricted airflow
straight into the manifold, and on the other
and well-known air filters on the market.
Now, the filter here is made from one of the
highest quality synthetic materials with a
cotton gauze and a diamond wire mesh pattern
on the outside, some superior filtration capabilities
keeping out everything you don't want, like
dirt and dust, but pulling in cold air to
kinda give you that engine performance that
you need and expect out of this.
Now, this entire kit here is gonna be running
under the $400 mark, which is a great price
for anyone looking to stick with a budget-friendly
cold air intake that does not require a tune.
Now, if you're looking to kind of increase
those gains, you would definitely wanna pick
up a custom tune on the side, but that's gonna
be left for another list of mine coming in
the future.
On top of that, the air filter is washable
and reusable, so when it comes time for routine
maintenance, or if it just gets a little dirty,
pop it out, wash it, re-oil it, and throw
it right back in.
It's as simple as that.
The installation for the entire kit is pretty
simple as well, just a couple of bolts and
clamps as well as hoses and plugs, and you're
good to go.
Overall, extremely simple stuff and exactly
why we want it on our top five list.
So, to round out our list here, of course,
I had to pick up an exhaust mod for the truck,
which is actually kinda tough to pick one
under the $500 limit, but we did manage to
pick one up.
This is the MBRP Installer Series 3-Inch Cat-Back
Exhaust with the split rear exit design as
you see here.
To do it any justice, we had to get the truck
on a lift.
Now, this is gonna help with a small bump
in horsepower and torque, but, more importantly,
it's gonna be a huge sound upgrade over the
stock cat-back.
So let's take a listen to the sound clips.
As you just heard from our clips, this isn't
gonna be the loudest exhaust available, but
it is gonna give you a noticeable change.
It's a little bit more aggressive at idle,
and it's definitely gonna bark at wide open
throttle with little to no drone inside the
truck on the highway at those speeds.
Now, this one is gonna be made from an aluminized
steel, so it's not the highest quality option
on the market.
When you're sticking onto the budget, this
is gonna be one of the ones that fit under
the $500 limit.
Now, MBRP does offer more premier options,
like the Pro Series with 304 stainless steel
builds, which is gonna be more suitable for
the guys out there in wintry weather areas
seeing a lot of road salt, as it will be a
little more corrosion and rust-resistant.
This aluminized steel is gonna be sort of
the entry level option here to keep the budget-friendly
levels down, but it's a great option for guys
just looking for a sound change.
To top that off, it does have dual 3-inch
stainless steel tips coming out the rear as
you can here with that split rear exit design.
MBRP does offer a couple of different exit
styles, but this one's gonna be my favorite
for the more American muscle styling.
Now, because of the aluminized steel construction,
the price does stay under the $500 limit right
around 460 bucks, so it's perfect for our
list here.
Well, guys, that wraps up my top 5 starter
mods under $500 for the 2014 and newer Silverado.
We wrapped into one nice little package power,
styling, appearance, functionality, performance,
kind of a very well-rounded starting build.
Now, if you guys are looking for inspiration
to start your own build, I hope this video
helped out in any way.

2007-2018 Silverado & Sierra MotoFab 2" Front Leveling Kit Review & Install

AmericanTrucks Chevy & GMC:
Hey.
What's up, guys.
I'm Ryan from AmericanTrucks, and today I'm
here with the MotoFab 2 Inch Front Leveling
Kit fitting your 2007 to 2018 Silverado 1500
and Sierra 1500, excluding the 2014 to 2018
Denali model.
This is going to be for those of you that
are looking to level out that truck for an
incredibly affordable price.
This is gonna get rid of that factory rake,
giving you a better stance, a little additional
ground clearance, and allowing you to fit
up to a 33-inch tire.
Now, these are machined for a perfect fit
and are made of heavy-duty, durable billet
aluminum, and they're finished off with a
black powder coating that's gonna blend right
into that factory suspension.
Installation is relatively simple as far as
these leveling kits go since the spacer bolt's
right on top of that factory strut, you don't
need to disassemble that assembly at all,
making it pretty easy.
Now these are designed for long life with
their solid one-piece construction, unlike
those welded spacers that can tend to crack
over time.
Now there's many options to choose from on
the site, and I think this is one of the great
ones to choose from.
At just around $60, you really can't beat
that price and not only that, does come with
a limited lifetime warranty and they're made
right here in the USA.
As far as installation goes, I'm going to
give this a two out of three wrenches on the
difficulty meter since we are dealing with
suspension and such, but expect to get this
done in about two hours.
Now with that being said, let's hope into
the install.
Tools we use first install: gloves, safety
glasses, 18-millimeter wrench, 15-millimeter
wrench, 1/4 inch drive ratchet, red Loctite,
5/16 Allen key, 10-millimeter socket, 15-millimeter
socket, 17-millimeter socket, 21-millimeter
socket, 22-millimeter socket.
Cutoff wheel, 1/2 inch drive impact, channel
locks, hammer, pry bar, bungee cord, 3/8 drive
impact.
So one of the nice things about this kit is
we don't have to touch the rear.
This is only gonna be a spacer for the front.
It's gonna lift and level that out.
We have to get that strut out, so basically
we need to take everything off around that.
So there's two ways you can do it.
You can do it on a lift like we're doing it
where you have to take the front wheels and
tires off, or you can do it on the ground.
If you're doing it on the ground, you want
to lift the front of the truck up, support
it with jack stands.
Now the first thing we're gonna do is we're
gonna disconnect our brake lines.
There's gonna be two brackets that we need
to take the bolts out of.
We're gonna use a 10-millimeter socket, and
I'll show you how to do that right now.
So the first bolt is gonna be on top of here,
right behind the brake rotor.
After that, we're gonna have another bolt
back here on the upper control arm.
It's gonna free up the brake line and ABS
line, so when we drop this whole setup down,
it's not gonna rip.
Now the next thing we're gonna do is disconnect
our sway bar end link.
This is gonna allow the lower control arm
to drop down enough so we can get that strut
out.
So we're gonna use a 15-millimeter wrench
for the top, 15-millimeter socket for the
bottom.
And then we're gonna pull that whole assembly
out.
So the next thing we're gonna do is take out
our tie rod.
So we're gonna use a 21-millimeter socket,
take that factory nut off, then we'll smack
it with a hammer and get it out of there.
So to get this out, we're not gonna smack
the tie rod, we're gonna smack the steering
knuckle.
That should allow that to pop out.
We'll just set that aside.
So after that, we're gonna swing this to the
side.
We're gonna take this nut off of the upper
control arm.
We're gonna use an 18-millimeter wrench to
take that off.
So at this point in time, we are going to
separate this upper ball joint.
The way we're gonna do that is smack the steering
knuckle, and that's gonna crack that free.
You can put a little tension on that with
a pry bar.
Now there's a lot of swinging weight here,
and if you choose to take this brake assembly
off, that's going to lighten it up.
We're not gonna do that, so we're going to
take a bungee cord and bungee that to the
side once we break this free.
So I'm gonna show you how to do that right
now.
Next, we're gonna go to the bottom of the
strut.
We're gonna take these two bolts out.
We'll use a 15-millimeter socket to get those
out.
Now after you get this last one out, this
whole control arm is gonna drop down, so you
might want to support it with a jack stand
or something.
So after that, we're gonna go up top because
we need to take the three nuts off of the
top of the strut.
So you're gonna have some wires up here.
You can just use a screwdriver or a pry bar,
pry those off.
And then we're gonna use an 18-millimeter
wrench to get those nuts off.
So we're gonna put a hand on the strut to
get this last nut off.
Once we get that off, we're gonna pull this
whole assembly out.
So with our strut out, we're gonna come over
here on the table.
Now we have a spacer to install, but before
we get this spacer installed, we have a few
things that we need to do.
Now we're gonna have these studs that we need
to install into the spacer.
We also need to cut a little bit of the studs
off on the strut.
This is so they don't poke out of the spacer.
So the first thing we're gonna do is install
these studs into the spacer.
Now it doesn't come with the kit, but it would
be a good idea to get some red Loctite.
That way that these things are going to be
stuck in there and not have the chance to
come out.
So I'm gonna show you how to do that right
now.
If you are using red Loctite, we're gonna
put it down here at the base where it's actually
gonna seat in the spacer.
We're gonna put a little bit on there, let
it run around the threads, and then we'll
just get this started in there.
We'll get all three of these done and thread
it in, and then we'll get them in with the
impact.
So I'm installing these on this recessed area
of this stud because we want this flat side
facing up.
So once we get those in, we're going to take
a 5/16 Allen key and we're going to tighten
those up.
Now, while that red Loctite is setting, we're
gonna cut these studs off.
Now this spacer is only gonna go on one way,
so we got to find out which way that it's
gonna go on.
So we need to cut this a little bit of excess
off that's sticking out so you can make a
mark, pull this spacer off, and then we'll
get them cut.
Now, to bolt this spacer on, we're gonna use
these brand new nuts that come in the kit.
It would be a good idea to run these nuts
down far enough.
That way when you cut this, you can run them
back off and that'll rethread them.
So you want to put your gloves on, safety
gloves and your safety glasses, and then we're
gonna cut down a little bit right where the
threads start.
So after you get those studs cut, we're ready
to install this spacer.
So we're gonna fit this spacer back on, figuring
out which way it goes.
There we go.
Then we're gonna install the new nuts provided.
So we're gonna thread these on one by one.
So after that, we're gonna take our 17-millimeter
socket
And go around and tighten these up.
Now there's not really any torque specs on
these, so you just want to make them good
and tight.
All right, so one thing to mention is we have
to spin this around 180 degrees to put it
back in the truck.
So it would be a good idea and it's gonna
make it a lot easier for you to get this in
if you put this end in a vice and just spin
it a little bit because we want to cock this
180 degrees the other way.
So after that, we're gonna reinstall this
and we're gonna use those factory nuts for
the top of these studs.
Once we get that seated, push it up, get those
nuts started.
Now you want to leave this front one pretty
loose, so we're just going to catch a few
threads.
We're gonna get these two back ones on pretty
much all the way.
So on the bottom of the strut, you're going
to have these little captured cage nuts.
It would be a good idea to get these off because
this is a little crooked when you get it on,
it's gonna be hard to get that bolt in the
threads without cross threading it.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to put
these bolts up through there first.
So we're just going to run them up through
the strut just a little bit and then I'm gonna
set one of these cage nuts on top
And we're
gonna do the same thing on the other side.
So after that, we're gonna go up top and we're
gonna tighten these nuts up using an 18-millimeter
wrench.
All right, so the next thing we're gonna do
is we're gonna put that upper control arm
back in, so you might need a hand.
Like I said, there's a lot of weight out here.
What we're gonna do is we're gonna use a pry
bar.
So we're gonna get this in place underneath
of the control arm and we'll use a pry bar
to pry the control arm down.
That's gonna drop this stud down enough that
we can get that factory nut back on.
So after that, we're gonna drop our tie rod
back in
Put that factory nut back on, then
we're gonna tighten it up with a 21.
Now if it spins the stud because there is
a nylon lock on it, you can either hold this
with a socket down here or you can come in
here, just pry down on it a little bit with
a pry bar, and that should allow you to tighten
that up.
So when we put this back in, we want this
bushing on this washer on the stud, this is
gonna go up through the bottom.
Then we have this collar to put in the middle,
that's gonna go all the way up through there,
and we're going to lower this sway bar down
and we have another bushing that we need to
put up top and then the nut.
After that, we're gonna take our 15-millimeter
socket and wrench, we're gonna tighten this
up.
All right, so the last thing we need to do
on this side is re-install those brake line
brackets.
So we're just gonna put those factory bolts
back in, tighten them up with a 10 millimeter.
All right, so now that you're all done, you
can throw those wheels back on and torque
them back down to factory specs.
After that, you want to get an alignment,
have them recheck all that suspension.
However, that's gonna wrap up my review and
install.

Part 1: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Interview

Cars.com:
I'm Mark Williams with pickup trucks dot
com and were here
just outside pontiac michigan
where we have the brand new 2014 Chevy
Silverado 1500
and the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500
and with us our special guest executive
chief engineer for full line truck Jeff
loop
Jeff thank you for being market to see
him I'm not asking you to choose between
you two babies
but I love these two tracks what are the
highlights what are some of the most
important things
you wanted to get from your team yeah I
we wanted to significantly improve the
refinement of these trucks and
in the area I love far quietness and
refinement in the cabinet
for our customers to make a much more
enjoyable driving experience
we wanted to put in technology and
features that are purposeful and
practical that
to are are directly targeted at to
helping the customer
improve their fuel economy lower their
maintenance costs
improve the capability of the truck for
usage of the box
for tall weighing you know these are all
important factors the safety
technologies we wanted to significantly
upgrade add
forward collision alert lane departure
warning
front Park Assist to go along with
stability control
on hill descent control comes on our
four-wheel-drive z71 package
know these are all things we wanted to
enhance the capability and refine the
sofa trucks
here's what I'm hearing you say that the
targets that you're communicating to
your team that you want them to hit
have to do with improving your existing
model is that we are customers are
feeling back already
did do you talk to your team about where
the F 150 is where the RAM 1500 is where
Titans
yeah great great question we have keep a
very close eye and what our competitors
to understand what what moves they're
making where their
taking their trucks and you know we do
everything from
measuring them too
all the renounces at the same time we
spend a lot
0 time with our customer base turmoil
customer base which is
in of words and
almost 16 million loyal Chevrolet and
GMC pickup homes
me that %uh parts no 516 her eighteen
clinics on this program where we have
spent
literally thousands of hours thousands
of customers
talking to them everything from styling
to our performance
features and functionality
making sure that we're for understanding
what it is that they're really looking
for
sure we provide so you're getting
information that
just from a general consumer point of
view is telling you that
your tracks need to write better and
perform better
or or do they want are there what's
changing over time
because from our view truck guys have
always been pretty clear about what they
want yeah
and I'm good good victory question for
customers
are are very very morning
and they know what they want very
discerning
um at the same time the segment is
evolving and
keeping an eye on what the competitors
are doing is always very important
to see what's happening around you and
obviously making sure you know what your
customers are expecting
targeting your efforts and knows
specific areas to ensure you give them
the value
the performance for the balance and you
keep in mind
and holding the work that we've put in
for on
improving durability in not only our
seats
Tom but our breaks talked about order
life brake rotors and presentation there
were
expecting to almost double the life of a
brake rotor with that patented dual life
calling it which is the cost of
ownership if if I was able to ask you to
pick out three things
to point to me that you're most proud of
that your team
executed could you do that yes at this
week that's good
of was there anything
