Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado the Best Silverado Ever? | First Drive | Edmunds

Edmunds:
TRAVIS LANGNESS:
Welcome to Wyoming.
I'm Travis Langness
for Edmunds.com,
and this is the all-new
2019 Chevrolet Silverado.
Basically, it's redesigned from
the ground up, from the frame,
to the body, to the powertrains.
It's bigger.
It's longer.
It's wider.
But we want to know if it's
the best Silverado Chevy's ever
made, so we're going to
take it out for a drive.
So we're in the
mountains in Wyoming
and we're driving around
in the new Silverado 1500.
And really, this feels
like an updated Silverado.
It doesn't feel
completely redesigned.
It feels really familiar.
So what's changed
about the Silverado?
The frame is built using
different materials.
It's a longer wheelbase.
It's longer from nose to
tail by almost two inches.
Pretty much all of the towing
improvements across the board
for the Silverado
come from the fact
that the truck is
450 pounds lighter
than the previous generation.
Now, that's coming
from differences
in steel, the aluminum hood,
aluminum tailgate, aluminum
doors, differences in
the strength of steel
in the chassis.
They took 80 pounds out
of the frame, another
80 pounds out of the
bed of the truck,
so instead of one
stamping, they've
used three different
pieces, which
also makes the bed of the truck
as much as seven inches wider
in the bed.
And also, you're looking
at the first up and down
power tailgate in
any full-size truck.
Kind of a no-brainer
on trucks these days.
Everybody's using a
power lift gate in SUVs.
Why haven't we
done it on a truck?
Under the hood is
the 5.3 liter V8.
Now, people from the last
generation Silverado,
if you own one of those, you'll
think, oh, so same engine.
Well, yes and no.
There is a 5.3 available with
the old six-speed automatic
transmission, but
the one we're driving
has the new
eight-speed automatic.
And it's the updated version
of that 5.3 liter V8.
So basically, what you get is
a different fuel management
system that Chevy says
will increase fuel economy.
And it-- for my
butt [? dyno-- ?]
hasn't changed the way the truck
drives much, which is good.
Gives you good power uphill,
gives you a good burst
as you're going
to pass somebody.
But what has changed
with the eight-speed
is it's quiet in here.
There's several
other power trains.
So you can get a diesel.
You can get the base V6.
You can get this V8 or
the six-speed transmission
with the older version of the
V8, different fuel management.
And you can get the 6.2 liter,
as well as that turbo four
cylinder.
If you don't need as much
towing or hauling capability,
that turbo four cylinder,
that may be the motor for you.
For me, I'd probably go
with the 5.3 or the 6.2.
They feel a little bit better,
have a little bit more thrust.
We don't have the
optional 22-inch wheels
on this truck, which
is absolutely something
I would avoid, because with
the standard wheel and tire
package, ride comfort's
great in this.
These seats are not the
high-end leather seats.
They're cloth, and
they feel great.
Going up a mountain road,
they feel just fine.
The split heating
function works great.
And really, if you're going to
go on a 1600 mile road trip,
tow a trailer, and take
your family on vacation,
this is an easy place to do it.
Also, this center
console comes up.
Take it up real quick, so
you can have a third person
Chevy did say that
the drag has changed.
As their dynamics
have gotten better,
drag has decreased with
the front end redesign.
And that's a small marginal
increase in fuel economy,
along with what will probably
be marginal increases
from the eight-speed automatic.
This one is, I believe,
19 MPG combined
with the 5.3 and
the eight-speed.
Along these roads-- they're
not perfect, obviously,
these aren't highly maintained
city roads-- the Silverado
feels really good.
It's not a bouncy ride quality.
Big sharp impacts aren't
really making their way
into the cabin.
Everything feels pretty
well-insulated from underneath,
especially when you've
got a good amount of tire
sidewall, which this truck has.
There's not a lot of body roll.
If you're worried about ride
quality on a pickup truck,
this one is doing just fine.
So this is the interior
of the new Silverado.
It's not so much a redesign
as much as it is an evolution.
For starters, we'll go with
this big monolith of a center
console.
This is just one giant piece.
It's not as high-content
as it could be.
We're in kind of a mid
trim level, something
that's a little bit
more typical for buyers.
And basically, you've got
auto stop start function.
You can put the
tailgate down here.
Traction control.
A nice little button that
puts all four windows down
at the same time.
There's a couple
of buttons missing.
There are some things that we
could have on this interior.
There's no plug here, but
on the higher trim levels
you do get that full
three-prong plug.
We've got one
USBC, one USB port.
It's got Apple
CarPlay, Android Auto.
And it's got a really
crisp look to it.
This one is the same size
as the previous generation,
but it's a little
bit nicer looking.
It's a little bit crisper.
Graphics, it's
really easy to read.
You've got the swipe from
one side, swipe to the other.
You can control most of
the stuff happening here.
The steering wheel
is much the same.
The TFT, the center
driver display here,
is a little bit better,
and everything is easier
to see at a moment's
glance when you're
looking down from the road.
Super helpful when
you're towing or hauling
and you just want to
spot your temperature
or spot your oil pressure.
It's definitely a good display.
And then Chevy has moved
over here some of the stuff
that you use for towing,
to the left of the driver.
There's a little
toggle here that you
can change between
sport mode or they've
got a little dynamic
racecar flag, and tow mode--
changes the shift
schedules, things like that.
Then you've got the
selector between
two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
You've got the terrain
selector to tell the truck
if you want hill descent control
if you're on rock or sand.
Then you've got the
controls for the lights,
and most of the
stuff over there.
And pretty much,
this is what you
get inside the interior
of all the Silverados,
and it's a really
intuitive layout.
It's not fancy.
It's a lot of new stuff, but not
a completely different design
that you have to get
used to something new.
Now, with that said,
this mid-level content
does have some plastic
materials that aren't awesome,
but really the touch points,
those things are good.
They feel sturdy.
One of the nice things
that GM has, Chevy as well,
is these split
level seat heating.
So you can heat just your back,
or your back and your butt.
Heating just your back is
perfect for long road trips.
Anybody with back pain
should demand this feature
be put in every car.
It makes the seating so
much more comfortable.
It's fantastic.
Overall, this interior
is a likeable place,
and definitely somewhere
I can see myself sitting
for a long time on a road trip.
So now we're in the
backseat of the Silverado
and it's huge back here.
There is an additional three
inches of rear leg room.
The truck itself is only 1.7
inches longer, nose to tail,
but they put a lot of that,
and then some, into the rear.
So four adults can sit totally
comfortably, probably a fifth,
maybe even a sixth when
you get that third seat up
in the front.
But if you've got
four six-footers,
there's tons of space
back here for everybody.
And it's pretty simple,
pretty standard back here.
A couple of USB ports, couple
of vents, which is nice.
Keeps the air flowing back here.
These seats are similarly firm
to the center seat up front.
But it's a 60/40
split back here.
And it's really easy
to fold these up.
So this one just
quick up, quick down.
There's no straps to pull on.
No handles.
And then also, there's some
pretty cool features back here.
This is typical, the center
console with the cup holders,
not new in any way.
But then this side seat
opens up and you have access
to behind the seat.
And the seat materials are
similarly nice to the front,
that same checkerboard pattern.
Pretty flat across the
bottom and the back.
There's not a lot of
bolstering back here,
but the cushioning is good.
This angle's not too bad.
It'd be nice if it were a
little bit further slanted back,
but it's decent for a road trip.
So we've spent all day driving
the new 2019 Silverado.
And basically, what
we've discovered
is that Chevy has taken a good
product and made it better.
This new truck is more capable.
It's more quiet on the inside.
There's more space
in the back seat.
You can tow more.
And there's that
wide array of engines
that we talked about,
which will make
it more economical and better
towing in the long run.
It generally feels
like a good refresh,
but they've added some
good updates to it.
But if you're
asking the question
is it the best Silverado that
Chevy has ever made, well sure,
but only by a small margin.

First look at the 2018 GMC Terrain Electronic Precision Shift

Georgian Chevrolet Buick GMC:
Hi guys Its Adam from Georgian Chevrolet Buick
GMC located in Barrie.
Today I"m seated in a 2018 GMC Terrain and
i wanted to go over one of the coolest new
features that come with the terrain.
the electronic precision shift what are the
benefits of electronic shifter lets just right
out of the gate as soon as you get in this
car you are going to see it has a lot more
space in that center console for storing items
it has a lot more space for things of convenience
things you want up front that wasn't available
on previous cars that had that traditional
shifter.
other benefit that a lot of people don't see
when they actually come to take a test drive
cause it is kind of hidden is underneath there
is even more storage.
so we don't need all those mechanisms that
we had in previous vehicles so underneath
you have that whole storage container that
can hold water bottles clothes anything you
want close at hand and you want it up front
you don't want to throw it in that back seat
you now have extra storage underneath that
we didn't have previously.
so that's the benefits of the electronic shift.
this is the electronic precision shift just
throw it in park so your park and your neutral
and low gears are buttons and your reverse
and drive are actually toggles so you pull
forward on them.
so in order to go into drive i just stick
my finger in there and pull forward and now
I'm in drive.
I'll press on the brake pull on the reverse
and now I am in reverse for neutral you just
press that button once i want to park i just
press the P over here we have our low gear
range selector so you would just throw it
in drive I want to go to low that side lights
up and i can select between my gears using
these two buttons.
a lot of times when people first come in and
they see the electronic shift the first thoughts
they have are about safety how has GM thought
about safety when it comes to these electronic
shifts so what i want to do today is actually
run through some of these scenarios with you
to kind of show you how gm has thought of
all these different scenarios of what people
might do or what could happen how people are
going to use this in day to day life and how
they have actually come up with ingenious
solutions to all of these scenarios for you.
so first thing i want to run you though on
this electronic shift is what happens if i
shift it in reverse when i am actually moving
forward so right now i am driving forward
and I'm gonna pull on that reverse and it
automatically shifts me into neutral.
I can pull back on that drive and i continue
forward but it wont let me actually shift
into reverse until i come to a complete stop
and now it will let me pull it into reverse
so i can pull into spots but if i accidentally
pull on on reverse while I'm moving forward
its not going to automatically shift for me
it is gonna directly shift you into neutral
ill coast along and i can shift back into
drive.
Next safety feature i want to go over is what
happens if i have it in gear and i get out
of the vehicle without throwing it into park?
SO i have it in park now I'm gonna hop out
of the vehicle as you can see as soon as i
step out of the vehicle as soon as i let my
foot off of that brake its gonna shift it
into park so whether i am in drive or reverse
lets put it in reverse lets say I'm backing
up into a driveway at the end of a long road
trip i hop out of the car as soon as i let
off that brake its going to shift me into
park automatically.
now that you seen that if i actually leave
it in gear it automatically shift into park
for me, you might be wondering what happens
if i go to a car wash and i want to leave
it in neutral well GM has actually thought
of this so if you want to leave it in neutral
i get to the car wash i open my door i put
it in neutral and then i can hop out of the
vehicle and its gonna stay in neutral for
me so i can hop out and it stays in that neutral
so all you have to do is open that door initially
put it in neutral and the car know you did
it un-purpose and it will stay in neutral
for you.

This does have a 3.6 liter V6 with 308 horsepower, and it still can tow up to
5,000 pounds. Comes standard with rear park assist as well as the convenience package and the safety package, remote keyless entry,
Another real good looking feature on the
2019 Chevrolet Colorado are the 17 inch black wheels and the Goodyear Wrangler dura track tires.
Projector type headlights, fog lamps, and easy lift and lower tailgate.
The inlay steps on the Chevrolet
Colorado make it a lot easier to get in and out of the bed of the truck.
The sports bar and the extra cargo hooks make hauling a breeze, and give you a lot more places to secure your tie-downs.
The rear sliding window comes with an electronic defogger.
Every version of the Colorado feels real well built and the crew cabs have an additional 7 inches of legroom,
split folding rear seat and additional cargo hooks. Let's check out the interior of the Colorado and take it for a test drive.

Chuck Nash San Marcos:
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali | REVIEW

Dilawri Group of Companies:
Hey guys! Today I'm really excited to be
exploring the "Truck King".
This is the next generation 2020 Sierra 1500 Denali.
They say that its earned its name for a reason and I'm excited to find out why.
Lets go check it out!
Lets start with the exterior. The Sierra 1500 Denali
really has this taller, more dominant
stance to it. You can tell that when they
were designing this, they really had that
dominance factor in mind. I love the front-
end of this. It just really emanates power, and strength.
Getting into details, this Denali comes with chrome mirror caps, assist steps, and door handles.
It has 20-inch multi-dimensional aluminum wheels, also available in 22-inch polished aluminum wheels.
Both of which, add to its distinctive appearance. Coming around to the back, we have polished
dual exhaust that create a seamless look. And, nicely frame the innovative new tailgate.
Let's talk about this next. They say that
this is the most innovative tailgate ever,
and call it the Multi-pro tailgate.
Which, we think is a well-suited name.
Let's get into it! The primary tailgate opens with the touch of a button, or when activated by key fob.
The primary gate load stop helps keep long items secure. Flip the inner gate down for closer access
to the box.
This also converts to a step, supporting
up to 375 pounds. Drop the inner gate for
a second tier of cargo with the load stop. Or, drop the load stop and you are set with a perfect work surface.
This has a maximum trailering capacity
of 9,400 pounds
and a maximum payload capacity of 2,265 pounds. Surely, you will have no issues getting the boat
to the cottage next summer.
Okay, now, let's jump inside and check out
what's going on in there.
The first thing to note here is just how
premium this looks and feels.
The two front seats are heated and ventilated bucket seats, which also have the 10-way power adjustments
on the side. Up front here, we have a leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel, which i think looks
really quite handsome. The backseat passengers can enjoy heated rear seats as well.
Back here, we have deep tint glass, and a power
sliding rear window. One of the most
important, and key features on the inside
is the storage. This truck has:
Seat-back storage, perfect for storing tablets or charging cords. A storage tray where the
instrument panel is, designed for your
cell phone. Centre console storage available with lock,
large lower glove box, and lockable upper glove box.
Last but not least, rear seat centre
cupholders. In addition to the Denali's strong look,
usable space, and forward-thinking tailgate, you can also expect interior technologies that put the driver first.
This has an 8-inch Digital Driver Information centre, that allows you to access information about the vehicle,
as well as customize how you
see it. When in reverse, the HD rear
camera mirror helps you see what's going on, and maneuver into tight and harder to get spaces.
As well, the HD surround
vision provides a bird's-eye view of the
vehicle during low-speed maneuvering.
When getting into hitching territory,
The Denali lends a hand with hitch guidance
and hitch view. A few other honorary
mentions include 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, the
Bose speaker system, wireless charging,
tire pressure monitor, remote vehicle
start. This is also compatible with Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto. Let's talk
safety. The Denali comes with the safety
package, which includes a variety of
features to provide that added peace of mind.
Some of these include: lane change
alert with side blind-zone, rear cross
traffic alert, safety alert seat, and
front and rear park assist. Available, is
forward collision alert, low speed forward
automatic braking, front pedestrian
braking, following distance indicator,
lane keep assist with lane departure
warning, and, hill descent control. If all
of this isn't enough, you can also boost
your road safety assurance with: Teen
Driver mode, OnStar safety and security,
and, ProGrade protection. The 2020 GMC
Denali has set the bar high in terms of capability.
Between Drivetrain technologies and
intelligent systems, you know all your
vehicle performance needs are being
looked after. This 4-wheel ride has four drive modes
that will get you where you need to go with its all-terrain tires. This has:
Tour, sport, off-road, and tow and haul. The Denali has 355 horsepower, 383 lb.-ft of torque, and is paired with
an 8-speed automatic transmission.
I find that no matter where you are, the
ride is smooth because of its adaptive
ride control. This monitors each wheel
independently, adjusting vertical
suspension every two milliseconds. When
it comes to fuel efficiency, this gets
15.3L/100 km city, and 11.2 highway. An interesting fact about this truck is that it comes with
Dynamic fuel management technology,
creating a more fuel-efficient ride.
This is just totally packed with features that you need, as well as features that are just simply
nice to have. It was noted that when being awarded this "Truck King" title, the contours, the interior finishes
as well as the innovative tailgate, were all things that collectively gave it that Truck King title.
So, what do you think? We hope you enjoyed our review of the Sierra Denali.
I know I enjoyed taking
you through it.
Stay tuned for more videos from Dilawri Group of Companies.

2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 4WD Review - AutoNation

AutoNation:
This is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali edition.
So how can we tell this is the Denali edition?
Well first off, it has LED treatment on the
headlights, it also has a special chrome oversized
grille. But that’s not all that makes the
Denali. Let’s take a look at the rest. That
right is a 6.2-liter V8. It’s good for 420
horsepower, 460 pound feet of torque. Now,
fuel economy is actually quite a surprise.
You’re looking at 15 miles to the gallon
around town, 21 on the freeway. How does it
do it? Well it has cylinder deactivation technology.
That means when you’re just cruising around,
it uses 4, hit the gas, all 8 come on line
instantly. It is connected through an eight-speed
automatic transmission and it uses a dual
range transfer case, which means it has both
a high and low gear set. That means this truck
as equipped with all-wheel drive, can pretty
much go anywhere. In back we find a truck
that’s all work. In the bed it’s lined
so you don’t get it all scratched up. It
also comes with a rear view camera and tow
hitch. And we have these really handy steps
so you can get into the bed. If like me you
grew up in the 1970s, you probably remember
the second row of trucks being these cramped
little spaces with hard benches where you
had to sit sideways. Well welcome to 2016,
where the second row is just as comfortable
as any car. Yeah here we can easily fit three
people if we fold up that center section,
and if we want even more space, all we have
to do is fold up the seats. Now we have plenty
of secured cargo room for anything that you
would want to carry with you that you don’t
at the point now where you’re like “What’s
the point of getting a Denali? So far this
looks just like any other truck, albeit with
some extra niceties?” Well the Denali name
really comes into play in the front row here.
I mean look at this, the leather, the trim,
the contrast stitching, the plastics are even
quite good. Let’s go ahead and turn it on
and see what else it has. The seats are both
heated and cooled and you can pick to either
do the back and the bottom or just the back.
I think that’s a nice touch. It does have
dual zone climate control and then down here
there’s a row of all sorts of really cool
buttons. I can change my pedal placement there,
I can turn traction control off there, can
turn on the bed light, turn off parking assist,
this also has lane detection so I can turn
that on or off, and hill descent control.
The main gauge cluster adopts a traditional
format with a tach on the left, speedo on
the right, and then a multifunction color
LCD in the middle. I can change it with the
buttons up here that are rubberized and really
give the feeling that this is an all-seasons
interior. I can easily see my tire pressure,
I can see my current speed. I can see tripometer,
my average fuel economy. One thing nice about
this truck is that the gear shifter is up
here. I can easily pick my gears, it’s got
a lovely rear view camera there. I can even
hit a button up here and it’ll give me information
about my trailer load which is pretty sweet.
And speaking of trailers, this does have a
brake assist on the left. I know Ford’s
put them down here, this one’s down here.
And right below that we have the different
drivetrain modes. Now, around town you’re
gunna drive in two-wheel drive high. I can
easily go into four-wheel drive high, or into
four-wheel drive low. No mechanical levers
or shifters really necessary. I can also go
to an auto mode in which case it’ll switch
between two wheel drive and four wheel drive
as the conditions necessitate. That’s the
first time I’ve seen that on a work truck
and I think that’s actually pretty clever.
This is of course the latest and greatest.
On it you have your traditional audio, phone,
it has full navigation with a 3D view, that’s
not too bad. Let’s just say you have an
address on your iPhone and you don’t want
to go through the effort of typing it into
this system. This is what we do. Plug it in
and the projection button becomes… Apple
CarPlay. I just hit that CarPlay button. I
now have full iPhone capabilities on my car.
If I want to go somewhere with the navigation,
let’s just say “Navigate to the nearest
Starbucks.” Nice. So let’s go ahead and
take this truck out and see what it can do.
When considering a work truck, you have to
think about the intended use. Sure a Chevy
Silverado maybe the right choice for the worksite,
but do you really want to take your girl for
a night on the town with it? You might as
well be wearing overalls to the opera. The
GMC Sierra 1500 Denali looks to bridge this
gap. Making for a vehicle that is just as
capable as it’s more practical cousin, but
at the same time, ready to hit the town in
style. Better yet, it looks amazing, even
when it’s covered in mud. Is there a downside
to mixing style with substance? Well, yes.
You’ll probably be less inclined to charge
into the brush for fear of scratching the
paint and chrome. Also, the model we’re
testing today, which is pretty loaded, runs
around $60,000. Which is a few thousand more
than the comparably equipped Chevrolet Silverado
1500 it’s based on. Are the improved looks
worth it? Well, that’ll be between you and
your accountant. For more on the 2016 GMC

2014 GMC Acadia Denali | In-depth Video Walkaround | Sherwood Park Chevrolet

Sherwood Park Chevrolet:
Hello and welcome to another video walkaround
by myself Dakota down here at Sherwood Park
Chev. Today we are going to take a look at
this 2014 GMC Acadia Denali. This is a four
door, all-wheel drive, SUV, that seats up
to 7. In a carbon flash metallic. Under the
hood we have a 3.6 liter V6 engine. On the
front daytime high intensity discharge headlights,
that wonderful chrome grille. Coming down
the side you're going to be riding on top
on 20 inch Bridgestone mud and snow tires.
Which include 4 wheel disc brakes, fantastic
alloy wheels. Down the side we have bodyside
mouldings to prevent your doors from getting
any dents and dings in them. Chrome handles,
as well as those chrome accents along the
windows. Our folding side mirrors have turn
light signal indicators on them, as well as
(I don't know if you will be able to see but
there is a little logo there) We do have blind
spot monitoring. Which is absolutely fantastic,
it turns on a little light if someone is in
your blind spot. Roof rails to assist you
with mounting whatever you want up there.
Alright there are a multitude of features
on the inside, so if you'll join me I'll show
you them now. Helping you into this 2014 GMC
Acadia Denali is this handy dandy key with
key fob. You have lock, unlock, remote start,
power liftgate, and your panic button. Pressing
unlock once to unlock your drivers door, twice
to unlock all your doors. On the door, power
options for your windows, mirrors, and locks.
As well as memory setting there for your power
seats. We have this simulated wood grain paneling
all throughout this vehicle, giving it a very
luxurious feel. Additional storage down there
on the bottom. We have Bose premium stereo
system. there are ten of these speakers all
throughout this vehicle, so you know you are
going to have fantastic sound. Coming on into
the interior we have gorgeous leather clad
front bucket seats that are 8 way power adjustable
including 2 way power lumbar support. Power
tilt and telescopic steering. As well as the
automatic settings for your lights. We also
have Denali door sill plates. Alright just
starting her up for you. ABS brakes, traction
control of course. The odometer reads only
86,422 kilometers. There is a compass, we
are facing south east. I'm just moving the
seat forward you guys, my legs are a little
bit too short. Alright and just using these
control here. We have a couple of trips, fuel
range, fuel economy, a timer, fuel used, average
speed, right there back to the beginning.
Remaining oil life, park assist, rear cross
check path, that blind zone monitoring like
I had mentioned earlier, a couple of units
you can enter, tire pressure monitoring system.
And coming to this wonderful, leather wrapped,
with the wood paneling on it, steering wheel.
We have cruise control settings, which is
adaptive cruise control, there is a button
over there. Adaptive cruise control on the
left as well as audio settings on the right.
Pressing this button will activate the voice
control. "Please say a command or please say
help" Cancel. "Speech session ended. Goodbye"
So there are all those settings you can use.
Keeping your hands on the wheel, eyes on the
road. The other lovely feature (which is not
these buttons) but what these buttons control.
And if I can get it to focus on the camera,
we have heads up display. Which is absolutely
fricken fantastic. Pressing these buttons
you can change it, you can change the brightness
of it, you can not have it on at all (which
seems kinda silly). If you're going to have
heads up display why wouldn't you have it
on. Really handy. Tells you the speed or whatever
you happen to have on there. There is additional
storage up here, with a USB port. We have
a variety of technological features which
includes a 6.5 inch LCD colour touch screen.
Which includes AM and FM radio, as well as
SiriusXM satellite radio. We also have navigation,
so you're never going to get lost. Powered
by GMC's Intellilink as you can see. Phone
connectivity, bluetooth, USB, CD player, and
AUX input.
