Are Chevrolet Cobalts Good Cars

I Can’t Believe I Said This About Chevy

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines
g garner says Scotty what do you
think of the chevy cobalt 4-cylinder not
much okay not for a small engine it puts
out a decent amount of power yes they
don't hold up over time the whole car
itself is a pile of junk and it doesn't
hold up over time if you want to get a
small car that's got some zip and it's
gonna last a long time go buy a Toyota or
Honda they run circles around those
things but on the other hand I always
want to tell people you got options
let's say you're gonna buy you used one
you can pick those things up for down to
nothing and if you don't mind driving
around one if you get it so cheap for
$1,000 $1,500 and it still runs and
shifts okay and it lasts a while now
you're making out okay I mean in a long
run now it's not a good decision but if
you can get one cheap enough what the
heck you're never gonna get a good
Toyota or Honda cheap because everybody
knows they're good cars and they go for
a lot of money use but those things they
got bad reputation for various good
reasons but you can get them dirt cheap
I've had customers buy those old sandals
for $1000 and driving for four or five
years and maybe spend five six hundred
bucks with me fixing them over four
years that's perfectly fine form you
know on their ugly looking cars and
those particularly ones that bashes on
them so they got then real cheap but if
you want a knock around car something like
that could be okay if you get a dirt
cheap but just don't think it's gonna
last forever
and you're gonna be able to drive it for
twenty thirty thousand miles a year and
drive it for years that's not gonna happen
Nick 20s says Scotty what are your
thoughts on discount gasoline sold
Costco Kroger and kwiki gasoline any
good okay every gasoline sold in the
United States has to meet certain
minimum standards its law and generally
in each area there's all you want to
supply or gasoline all the other
companies buy it like shell is the
largest refinery in the world the last
time I checked so a lot of the gasoline
is refined by shell and then say if you
buy Exxon gasoline in your area if shell
made the gasoline your buying shell gas
and the only difference does Exxon is
putting their protect
and it is on top of it and dying at the
color that they want their gasoline to
look so you know it's not like you got
a wide choice it where the actual
gas things coming from anyways it's the
same thing with batteries there's only a
handful of battery manufacturers left
over in the United States so even though
there's 40 different brands if there's
only three companies making them the
brand doesn't really mean up that much
you gotta find out who's making that
brand for gasoline in most areas same
company making all of it,
trade be hey from Canada I got an 06 5
speed manual Volkswagen Jetta 1.9 TDI
with 173 thousand miles on it
hey you're in Canada you're supposed to
say kilometres I'm wondering should I
sell it before it has engine problems or
hold on to it I got a new timing belt
and clutch I change the oil every 5,000
miles and do highway driving what the
heck drive it it's worth very little
with that mileage on it and being 14
years old and you never know I've seen
some of those things with 300,000 miles
on I just say drive it till the wheel
falls off cuz if you try selling up now
you're gonna get nothing for the vehicle
what the heck there's Scotty telling you
to keep a VW that's a rarity I
believe me but it's a standard
transmission it's a diesel it runs just
keep driving it chains and you never
know how long this thing's gonna last
let's you're gonna get much worried if
you sell it and what the heck up you get
years more out of it you're making out
like a bandit, ronald regan, gee I thought
he was dead
hey Scotty my daughter's 2010 Ford
Focus started cranking by a few
seconds normally it starts right up
tried to spray cleaner remedies and it's
slightly better but still randomly
cranks longer does the cleaning helped
of course try it again now if it still
doesn't change the fuel filter first
since the fuel filter gets clogged it'll
do that that doesn't do it
pressure test a fuel pump now you always
have to change the fuel filter and a ten
year old car before you price your test
the fuel pump because if the fuel
filters clogged up you're gonna get
false readings well why don't you change
the filter if that doesn't fix it then
test the fuel pump pressure and if it's low
replace it, it mean design its way out
which is typical when they get to be 10
years old like that it could just be
that the fuel pump is starting to go out
from old age they're electric pumps
after a while they wear out just like
anything else does, flabo I'm cleaning out
my dad's old
garage I found tons of old new stock 62
Ford parts and several cases of oil
transmission fluid in the old metal case
is dated 1971 is that me this oil still
good I mean you might want to use it for
a lawn mower or something if you wanted but
don't do that either,
put in on ebay people collect
stuff like that you won't believe what
people sometimes will pay for these old
cans with the old oil in them and even
the old 1962 Ford parts put it on eBay
you never know what people are gonna bid
for these days and those old metal cans
that they don't make anymore
those are collectors items lots of guys
have museums they want that stuff and
they pay a pretty penny for it why use
it for oil they can get for two dollars
a quart when you don't know what you're
gonna get for that stuff when it's that
old and this is the original can people
collect all kinds of weird stuff these
days they might give some pretty good
money for that stuff so I put it on eBay
if I were you, honest mechanic Scotty my
grandpa's a 69 Firebird 400 hasn't run
in 20 years I want a surprise I'm
getting it run I know I need a battery
plugs tires and brake fluid there I also
need new fuel lines and brake hose lines
what else do I need you want to check
anything that's rubber to see if it's
cracked and stuff cuz you don't want to
be on safe but of course yes to be
perfectly safe you'd have to do the
whole car all the rubber stuff and
that's an awful lot of money so you're
gonna want to clean the gas tank out
there's probably crowd in it putting in
fuel and change the fuel filter I
changed the coolant and you know why all
transmission fluid and then see what
happens because you don't want to go too
far until you see that it's running and
that it's going good once you do all
that don't give it a grandpa drive it
for you know 10 15 20 miles and see if
there's anything that's leaking if
anything's not working correctly and
then kind of go from there because when
you get an old vehicle like that I mean
it's a 69 you kind of restore it
gradually if it's gonna be kind of a toy
car the original equipment cost a
fortune to do and most people aren't
gonna do that you want to make it a safe
car do what I said and then drive it
around for you know 20 30 40 miles and
see how it feels and then
from there, so if you never want to miss

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/ Quick Drive

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/ Quick Drive

Cars.com:

I'm Joe Weisenfelder with cars dot com
very happy this week to be driving a
Chevy Cobalt and I don't often say that
but this one
is a Cobalt SS mean Super Sport it is
8 pocket rocket basically that means is
a powerful quick
small car now the heart on the Cobalt SS
isn't engine now it delivers
a whopping 260 horsepower and also 260
pound-feet of torque
it is a small
to leader four-cylinder but his direct
injection and its turbocharged because
of that it gets not just some a good
amount of torque but it gets in at very
low engine speeds 2000 rpm
and there's almost no lag from the turbo
I have to give them credit for not
putting
a big ugly wing on this is a pretty
tasteful spoil you can get a better one
as an option
other than that the cars into exciting
looking it's a cobalt
the wheels are 18 inch allies to start
the brakes
actually pretty big calpers here
four-piston Brembo calipers into a
really nice job their linear they stand
up the heat alright
the tires are summer performance tires
now the transmission I'll because
there's enough for at low engine speeds
high speeds as is not so bad I don't
think I'd mind having sex
and also when you go between gears
Europe to lift up on the accelerator
%uh you can pretty much leave your foot
down and keep shifting as a No left
feature
it's interesting but and my mind %uh if
I wanted
an automatic transmission I would get
one have to say it all the right
qualities pretty comfortable for carve
this type it's a little firm
but certainly livable the handling is
also quite impressive
pretty neutral balanced not a lot of
body roll I found an able to bring the
tail out just a little bit there's not
too much understeer
impressive because this car has an
semi-independent rear suspension one
thing I'm not crazy about as the
steering
%uh it's a faster ratio than the regular
cobalt and that's good
but it is electric power steering on it
still hasn't been perfected
some manufacturers to a better than
others this one is a little under
assisted I also find it snaps back to
center way too quickly
it feels unnatural but in terms of the
precision
up like that there are features that
distinguish the SS from the regular
cobalt inside
the most notable of course the boost
gauge on a pillar here
for the turbocharger but the seats also
are specific
for this car they have nice side
bolstering I find a pretty comfortable
overall
up the materials a little bit rough
though and even though there's a seat
height adjustment which is great to have
an affordable car
i'd like an adjustment for the picture
at least for the for the Christian be
lower
I'm close to the steering wheel that I
wanna be so I can get full extension on
the clutch pedal
the biggest shortcoming in the SS is
definitely the interior quality
the cobalt itself is way behind the
class leaders in that regard the
mazdaspeed3 is better
Honda Civic is better on and there are
some things to make a different but
still
quality things like gaps between panels
are
jagged edges and this drawer on the side
really rough and plasticky
know sometimes manufactures open a lot
of power in a car to make up for other
shortcomings
I actually found the Cobalt SS to be
much more balanced much more
engineered as a package that I expect
that and has its shortcomings and it's
not even close
to the interior quality the GM is shown
it can do just hasn't made it to this
class yet for the money or paying under
twenty three thousand dollars this
amount of power is probably the best
bargain out there and you can even get
22 miles per gallon City
and 30 Highway for additional
information on this car or any other

tires

Why GM Doesn't Make Good Cars Anymore, What Went Wrong

Why GM Doesn't Make Good Cars Anymore, What Went Wrong

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines, zack says
Scotty my old family are GM fans, do you
know when GM car started to make them
poorly, my guess would be when they went
bankrupt around 2009, well they started
to make them poorly long before that, even
in the early 2000s they started to make
a lot cheaper stuff, I don't know how
true it is, but I talked to an engineer
and an engineer told me one time that GM
and Ford were going neck to neck and
people thought, Oh GM's are made better
than the Fords and then they did a
little research and GM found out that
they were spending 20% more building
their vehicles and that's why they were
better vehicles back decades ago, well
according to the engineer that I was
talking to, GM looked at and said gee
were spending 20% money more than Ford
building our cars, let's make them
cheaper, so they did and then the quality
went down, I know if it's true or not but
an engineer told me that, but they
have been going but down since the
early 2000s, it's just the nature of the
beast with corporations these days, they
want to make a profit and they want to
make things as cheap as they can and pay
people that make them as little as
possible, so they make more profit for
the corporation that's the way that
things go and sometimes it takes the
wrong turn like GM did and make products
that you don't hold up like they used to,
I learned to drive on a Chevrolet
Biscayne the thing was like a tank it had
a
302 v8 in it and that thing just ran
forever but not the new ones their not made
that wa,y no Oberto says Scotty
I am seriously considering buying the
2019 Land Cruisers, do you consider it to
be
the best quality built SUV I'm aware of
the gas mileage, yes they are for that
kind of a vehicle if you're willing to
spend that kind of money and get that
kind of low gas mileage, they are well build
vehicles my customers with them are all
pretty well happy with them, other than
the horrible gas mileage and if you're
willing to spend that kind of money, they
can last a long time, I got customers
with those thing that have three hundred and
fifty thousand miles on them and they're
still running strong, yeah if you don't
mind spending that kind of money go
right ahead, me I'm too cheap I'd never
spend that kind of money, Rambo ask
Scotty what do you think about me buying
a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
all wheel drive with 140,000 miles straight
6 for six grand
from my uncle as a first car,
well first of all some uncle he should
give you the car, now I'm not a Jeep fan
by any stretch of the imagination but
back in 2004 they were building much
better ones than they are today now that
Fiat owns them, that straight six-cylinder
engine can last forever I've seen those
things go 400,000 miles, good engines the
transmission that's an OK transmission
it's not great but it's not totally
horrible, it's a 15 year old Jeep try to
get it for a little bit less than $6,000
see if you can barter it, they can be fun
vehicles to drive around, realize they're
somewhat gas hogs because jeeps are
trucks their high up in the air, their not
aerodynamic or anything but it can be a
fun thing to drive, just try to get it a
little bit of lower, Scotty my SUV keeps
going out of alignment I had new shocks
replaced and no one seems to get the
alignment right, any ideas what as to what
it can be,
here's the thing, front end alignment
work we're talking about thousands of an
inches here thousands of an inches there
it's gotta be a pro who knows what he's
doing, so your best to find a
front-end shop that's all they do, here
in Houston I use cotton brothers front
end, they know what they're doing they
can fix any alignment problem, now the
second thing is, modern vehicles
especially the SUVs they're not like
vehicles when I was young, when I was
young they had all kinds of adjustments
there were like six different
adjustments you could do, today a lot of
times the only adjustment you can do is
the caster and the camber that's it
you can't do anything else, so it might
be that the alignment is off because the
struts bent or an a frame is bent, that's
why you have to start with a really good
front end guy, who knows what he's doing
and does good work you have to start
there, because otherwise all bets are off,
Devon says Scotty and I got a 93
3 liter 4runner, it does 16-17 mile per gallon
on the highway but does five to six in the
city any reason why, I live in Fresno
with hardly any traffic on the streets
Thanks, okay first of all, when you're
driving it in town does it get into top
gear, if you drive it really slow and the
transmission doesn't shift into top
gear, you're gonna get crappy gas mileage
like that, 16 to 17 is what those things
get on a highway, so it's working
normally at highway speed, so I'm
assuming it's not shifting into the top
gear when you're driving in town, go 35
miles an hour count the shifts as it shifts
and it should be into the top gear
if it isn't, you got a problem with your
transmission not shifting into gear
that's about the only thing that would
make sense cuz if you have any other
problem with the vehicle, it's gonna get
horrible gas mileage on the highway too,
the only difference is, it's shifting
into the higher gear on the highway maybe
it's not doing it in town, you should
still get at least 12 or something in
the city not 5 or 6, so if you never want
to miss another one of my new car repair
videos, remember to ring that Bell!

Best Front Wheel Drive Cars Ever | The Bestest

Best Front Wheel Drive Cars Ever | The Bestest

Donut Media:

- [Tony Balde] If you
live in a crowded city,
or you enjoy listening to drum
and bass with a side of tea,
or you're on a budget,
front-wheel drive cars are
designed specifically for you.
They have become icons of
the younger generation,
and hold a special place
in everyone's heart,
even if you hate them.
(turntable scratching music)
This week, I'm covering the bestest
front-wheel drive cars ever made.
The City II Turbo is a super-light,
super-compact, amazingly
stylish front-wheel drive car
that came with its own foldable motorcycle
that neatly tucks away in its trunk.
The concept was created for crowded cities
like Tokyo, which have
premium rates on parking.
So people could park as
close as possible to work,
then ride the 50cc Motocompo
the rest of the way.
The Honda City was an '80s hot hatch icon,
and not just because of the sweet little
motorcycle in the trunk,
but because of an innovative
upright seating position
that created more legroom.
The City was targeted at tall young men
because of all the legroom.
But the City II Turbo-
- [Commercial Announcer] Turbo II
- [Tony Balde] did not
care how tall you were.
Because it was fast.
It was an early product of
world-famous tuning house
and race car constructor Mugen.
Mugen was founded by Soichiro Honda's son-
- [Man] Hirotoshi
- That introduced a turbo for the car
that more than doubled the horsepower.
To match the power, the City II turbo
got a wider track and a wide body
made by Pininfarina, the same guys that
design Italian supercars.
The Bulldog, as it was nicknamed,
went on to have its own racing league,
and is an early example of a
car that was designed and sold
as a lifestyle product for
the younger generation.
With a car this good
coming in at number 10,
you better believe this entire
list is gonna be really good.
(turntable scratching music)
One front-wheel drive car
you may not have known is real good
is the Cobalt SS/TC
coming in at number nine.
A highly underrated car
that set a front-wheel
drive Nurburgring lap record
at eight minutes, twenty
two seconds in 2008.
GM's performance division
sorted out the Cobalt
to maximize its
competitiveness on the track.
They swapped out the
supercharger for a turbo,
giving it 260 horesepower, and
a zero to 60 in 5.7 seconds,
and it can hit 160 miles an hour.
That's thanks to a taller gear ratio.
But on the track like the Nurb,
more power is not the only thing you need,
and like most Nurburgring
record holders of any category,
its suspension was specifically
developed to handle
the hilly, bumpy, and
twisty nature of the course.
Which resulted in a suspension
that can mitigate afflictions
like torque steer,
while still being soft enough
to daily drive on the street.
The Cobalt SS/TC also comes
with big Brembo brakes,
the ability to shift gears
without lifting the throttle,
launch control, and a five-disc
anthology of Linkin Park.
(turntable scratching music)
Get ready for this oddball:
the 1970 Cadillac El Dorado.
The El Dorado got its power
from an insanely large,
500 cubic inch, 8.2 liter V8,
the largest V8 ever put
in a production car.
And trust me, it needed it.
When you think of front-wheel drive,
you think of tiny, two doors,
small engine, partying teenager.
But this colossus weighed
in at nearly 5,000 pounds,
and measured in at over 18 feet long.
My dad's deep-sea fishing
boat wasn't even that long.
No joke, I'm not quite sure
who this thing was built for.
All I know is that he or she
probably drinks King Cobra
out of a champagne glass.
The engine was good for 400 horsepower,
and rocketed the El Dorado
to zero to 60 in 7.6 seconds.
A theoretical top speed
of 126 mile per hour
while driving a horizontal skyscraper
is not only impressive,
it's downright dangerous.
I don't even think a brick wall
would stand a chance against this thing.
It had an enormous
sunroof, comfy-ass seats,
and like most Cadillacs, it
completely ignored speed bumps.
Honestly, I want an El Dorado now,
and I also want platform
shoes with fish inside
to go along with it.
(turntable scratching music)
The Clio RS 182 Trophy,
coming in at number seven,
was one of the greatest
hot hatches ever made.
The Clio itself is the world's all-time
bestselling French vehicle.
And this second generation Clio
was a limited performance
edition that outshined the rest.
All 550 production units
came in one color option,
Capsicum red, and they were
initially only sold in the UK.
Priced at 15,500 Euros,
it was a serious bargain for performance.
Renault Sport hooked this car up
with some serious performance upgrades.
Remote reservoir dampers
is a suspension component
that is more commonly used on racecars,
and is about 10 times more expensive
than standard struts
offered on a base model.
That means this lightweight hatchback
is absolutely planted through the turns.
And the 16 valve, two liter engine
got the Renault Sport treatment as well,
giving it 182 horsepower that some claim
can give it a 0 to 60 time of six seconds.
It's one of the last
lightweight hatchbacks
that is so hyper, it
can turn drum and bass
into sensual R&B.
- Respect.
(turntable scratching music)
- This next car literally changed
the automotive landscape forever, and it's
the OG of all front-wheel drive cars.
The Mini MK1 influenced
hundreds of economy cars that followed
with its transverse-mounted engine.
Sure, other cars did it before,
but the Mini actually sold,
proving that mounting the engine sideways
to power the front wheels could work.
It gained serious popularity
after being featured
in one of the most popular
car chases of all time:
the original Italian Job.
The movie showed how versatile
the Mini is for city driving,
and sales went through the roof.
You can learn more about this movie
by watching my "Best 60s
Car Chase" video later on.
Anyways, it's possible that
without the Mini Cooper,
I might not be talking about
any of the cars on this list.
Besides influencing car design,
and being perfect for crowded cities,
the Mini was also a great driver's car,
winning countless road races and rallies.
With a short wheel base and
a low center of gravity,
the Mini had god-like maneuverability
and wasn't afraid to take on
cars with way more horsepower.
The classic Mini design was so good,
they didn't stop building
it until the year 2000,
selling over five and a half million Minis
over the course of its life.
It's the ultimate underdog,
and it's more than deserving
to be on this list.
(turntable scratching music)
Do you want something that's loud,
Italian and allegedly gets you babes,
but you can't afford a supercar?
Well then the Fiat 500 Abarth
is one of the cutest little
cars you can buy today.
But don't confuse cuteness for weakness,
because once you turn the key,
it becomes unmistakably badass.
The Abarth might be one of the
best-sounding cars on the road today,
and that's because it
doesn't have a muffler.
That's right, the turbo
cuts down so much noise
that Fiat didn't bother
making the car any quieter.
That's the secret to its
awesome exhaust note.
Besides the heavenly exhaust note,
the Fiat is actually super fun to drive.
I mean, it's practically the same size
as the OG Mini Cooper.
It's not the most powerful car around,
but the exhaust note alone
will make you feel like
Giancarlo Fisichella
when you're bombing around downtown.
Plus, if you want more
power, it's highly tuneable.
It can become a serious little beast.
The reason this car is so special
is while everyone else in the industry
is making their classic
front-wheel drive cars much bigger,
Fiat went against the grain
and stuck to their roots,
leaving the 500 to be a tiny
little city-ripper we all love.
(turntable scratching music)
Megane RS has always been
the go-to when talking
high-performance hatchbacks
in the European Market.
The first two generations
were highly praised,
each setting their own new lap
records on the Nurburgring.
And right when it seemed like
it couldn't get any better,
Renault released this third
generation of Megane RS.
And yes, it too set its own
record around the Green Hell
before the Civic Type R showed up.
But if you ever partake
in the Touristenfahrten,
which is the last couple
of hours of the Nurburgring
opens up its gates to anyone and everyone
who wants to drive it,
you'll be completely swarmed
by these cars flying all over the track.
With a smaller, more
potent 1.8 liter turbo,
and a whole bunch of
technical suspension upgrades,
it's a serious driver's car.
On top of that sheer
performance, I think this car
is the best-looking one on the list.
Even considering the god-like
presence of the El Dorado.
But we can't buy the
Megane RS in the U.S.,
so it's disqualified
from winning anything.
(turntable scratching music)
The Civic Type R is the holy grail
of front-wheel drive cars here in the U.S.
because for the longest
time, we never got it.
It took 20 years, but the
Civic Type R finally landed
on American shores last year,
and it's a show-stopper.
Currently the fastest
front-wheel drive car
around the Nurburgring,
which means it's the
fastest car you can drive
around any town with shitty roads.
To be totally honest, the
car makes a major impression
when rolling up to boba shops.
But to me, it's a little
bit all over the place.
It's super edgy, and therefore cool,
but you can spot it from a mile away.
Sort of like one of us Americans
walking around any foreign country.
And if you look at one
of these things up close,
there's a lot of fake venting
that sort of breaks my heart a little bit.
But, that doesn't stop the Type R
from being an amazing
hatchback that is also
one of the quickest out there.
It's currently the most hyped-up
front-wheel drive on the planet,
and I don't believe it should overshadow
the next two cars on this list.
(turntable scratching music)
The Golf GTI Mark 1 is without a doubt
one of the biggest hot
hatch icons ever made.
But the new 2016 GTI Club Sport
is a serious track weapon.
Created as a response to the latest
front-wheel drive Nurburgring record,
it was so close to taking the title.
No longer can VW's two liter engine
carry the nickname, "2.slow."
With a boost function that
accesses a 10% increase in power
when the pedal hits the metal,
it's only 10 horsepower shy of 300.
With a brand-new aerodynamic body kit
that creates downforce where
there was previously lift,
and an option for semi-slick tires,
this thing comes straight from the factory
ready to embarrass any of
your friends at any track day.
And because of the Golf's
rich history for being
one of the most popular hatchbacks
for all auto enthusiasts,
you'll get the highest honors
in the world wide gang of devers.
Making this one of the most lusted-after
front-wheel drive hatchbacks ever made.
(turntable scratching music)
The Integra Type R is said
by many, including Pumphrey,
to be the best front-wheel
drive car ever made.
- [Pumphrey] It was the
best, front-wheel drive,
naturally-aspirated car of all time.
- And after receiving an
anonymous death threat-
- (yells loudly)
- from Pumphrey for trying to
place it lower on the list,
I had to reconsider why it
deserves to be number one.
After some deep thoughts in the shower,
I finally figured out why Integra fans
are so out-of-control
passionate about this car.
Sometimes, it's not about being
the fastest car ever made.
It's about creating an
all-around fantastic driving experience.
Accura did not cut any corners
when developing this car.
There isn't anything on it
that takes away from its
pure driving experience.
It doesn't have AC, or
cruise control, or a sunroof,
or even a rear wiper.
Accura even stitch-welded the chassis
so that it doesn't flex under stress.
And the shape of the car
is beautifully simplistic.
It's sort of like the
Japanese road car version
of the iconically-shaped
Lotus 56 Indy car.
Like I said, I was having
some really deep thoughts about this.
But the Type R's crown
jewel is it's B18C5.
Which, simply put, is one of
the best motors ever made.
Each one was hand-built by
Honda's engine builders,
and they had a red line of 8300 RPM.
It was one of the highest-revving motors
you could buy at the time,
and it blew everyone's mind.
Just like most of the cars on this list,
they are hard to find.
Because it's such a fun car to drive,
people rarely sell them, and when they do,
they ask the big bucks,
and deservedly so, because
it's one of the greatest
front-wheel drive cars of all time.
Well, that's my list, and
I'm forced to stick to it.
Let me know your favorite
front-wheel drive cars.
Here's a little secret:
my favorite car isn't even on this list.
That's because it was the
very first car I owned,
the Corrado VR6.
If you want to learn more about it,

08 Chevrolet Cobalt SS vs HHR SS

08 Chevrolet Cobalt SS vs HHR SS

Cars.com:

is Joe bruising cars.com we're here at
Road America Elkhart Lake Wisconsin and
got the 2008 chevrolet cobalt SS and
the 2008 chevrolet hhr ss
big changes for the 2008 are under the
hood the first generation SS had a
supercharged 205 horsepower
four-cylinder the 2008 has a
turbocharged 260 horsepower
four-cylinder made it to a five-speed
manual transmission and I'm road-course
out here it's definitely got plenty of
power to get you around
that combined with the sports suspension
of really makes it fun drive on the
track on the inside you have common
features that we see without in the
sport compact cars you have high
bolstered seats twin color seats with SS
stitching inside we also have a boost
gauge on the a-pillar and unique pages
for the SS it's got different 18-inch
wheels and you can still get the large
spoiler on the back but it's an option
you can the smaller spoiler come
standard part of the SS package is a
different front-end styling rocker
panels and also rear styling as well
the 2008 hrss is more than an HR with an
s been slapped on it's got 260
horsepower four-cylinder turbocharged
engine with a five-speed manual
transmission you can get an automatic
but power comes down with the automatic
styling is different on this as well
you've got the sporty front end side
rockers and rear styling as well the
inside of the HHR SS has somewhere
treatments as the cobol now you've got
your side bolsters seats you know
two-tone color boost gauge on the
a-pillar difference is the colored
interior it looks a little tacky just a
brushed aluminum or fake brushed
aluminum I think would have been better
than yeah painted red and also being an
HR there's limited visibility because
it's a real tight roofline and i can get
the seat low enough for me it's a really
high seating position which made
visibility and driving a little
difficult being an HR there's lots of
cargo versatility and you can fold down
the second row and you can also fold
down the front passenger seat to create
a flat loading space a charcoal ball
that says i have similar performance
capabilities but the cobol is a bit
sporty or simply because it's a two-door
coupe the HR is a lot more first tool
and it's your choice because they're
pretty much the same price around 22 23
thousand and for the price there's a lot
of bang for your buck for additional
information on this car or any other go

Would You Rather Own A Chevrolet Cobalt SS or Dodge SRT4 ?! |This or That EP. 38

Would You Rather Own A Chevrolet Cobalt SS or Dodge SRT4 ?! |This or That EP. 38

Fitment Industries:

- Rollin', rollin', rollin'.
Wasn't that Walmart's old slogan?
Rollin', rollin', rollin', and
then it'd be the happy face.
Anyone remember that?
- Show me your happy face.
(laughing)
Yeah, you happy.
(laughing)
I knew we would figure out a way
to put that in a video eventually.
What is goin' on everyone?
Welcome back to another
episode of This or That.
I'm Gels.
- I'm Dakota.
- And we are back with another episode.
- Yes.
- To answer the questions
if we would go with this or that.
(upbeat music)
Usually, we try to keep
it automotive related,
but that never actually works,
and there's usually some food or--
- Yeah, usually gets
derailed a little bit.
- Some weird questions that gets in there,
but we're gonna try to stick
to it as much as possible.
All right, first question, Max, go ahead.
- [Max] All right, first question is,
mean looking car and soft wheels
or soft looking car and mean wheels?
- I would have to say, probably,
a soft car with aggressive wheels
just because there are so many
wheels out there right now.
You look at companies like
SevenK and all those guys
that are making these really
wild, out there wheels
that look so good on just cars
that are, they're lowered,
maybe they're shaved down
or something like that.
They just look very simple and clean,
and then you get to the
wheels they're just--
- [Dakota] Sure, they're really out there.
So, I love seeing those wheels out there.
I'm gonna pick the hard
car, just softer wheels.
- Sure.
- Because that makes me think
back to my Focus ST setup,
where I have a lot of aggressive air--
- [Gels] Yeah.
- I got the splitter, canards, wing,
diffuser, all that kind of stuff,
but then I had work (mumbles) on it.
- Right.
- Which are a really simple wheel,
they're just white on white--
- They looked hella good, too.
- And I really liked how that looked,
so, I'm gonna go with that.
- Perfect.
- [Max] Next question.
- [Gels] Thank you.
- [Max] Cobalt SS or SRT-4?
- Cobalt SS or SRT-4, the most
sought-after high-schooler--
- For real, they're both
great beginner cars.
I don't care, everyone
talks (bleep) about 'em--
- Yeah, well, right, but
there's a reason why--
- They're cheap as (bleep) and you can
make each of 'em have decent horsepower.
I had a 2009 Cobalt SS,
it was a turbocharged one,
and then my girlfriend--
- You've had a lot of cars, I feel like.
- I have, yeah, I used to change 'em
every six months, about.
- Oh, shit.
- But my girlfriend had
a SRT-4 back in the day.
- [Gels] M'kay.
- I enjoyed both cars, but I
am gonna pick the Cobalt SS.
I don't know, something
about the Cobalt SS,
it's just a little bit nicer.
- I think I've seen way more of
the SRT-4s than the Cobalt SSs.
- [Dakota] Yeah, that, too.
- So, I think, in my
mind, I've always wanted
an SRT-4 more because of
that, so I think I would--
- They do sound cool.
- [Gels] Go with an SRT-4
just for that fact that,
because I always had wanted one--
- [Dakota] Yeah, yeah.
- That I would still want one today.
- Cool.
- [Max] Third question.
- Thank you.
- [Max] Autocross or track day?
- I'm gonna pick track
day because I haven't
had a chance to go on an actual track yet.
- It's actually funny because
I've done the exact opposite.
- Yeah, so I've gone autocrossing,
which, it was a (bleep) blast.
I had probably the most fun I've ever had
driving a car was during autocross,
but I've never done an
actual track day on a track.
I've done it on my motorcycle,
but I haven't done it with a car,
so, that's the only reason I'm picking it.
I think they're both fun in their own way.
- Yeah, I'm kind of on literally
the exact opposite realm,
where I have done a track day.
I've gone to Road America.
- Road America.
- And I absolutely loved it,
it was an absolute blast.
You spend the whole day down there.
There's so much help
offered for people who--
- Same thing with autocross, too.
- Yeah, and I've never
done an autocross event
and I've always wanted to.
- [Dakota] I guess what's
really cool about autocross is,
everyone that's in it is running it.
- Right.
- You got out there, you know you get--
- That's true, too, it's a
very club-oriented thing.
- Yeah, yeah, I went to my first one,
I never went before, and
everyone was cool as--
- Hell yeah.
- And they let me ride
along in their cars,
they rode along with me, in
my car, and gave me tips.
- Cool.
- And walked the track with 'em
and everything like that beforehand,
but yeah, it takes everybody
that's at the event to run it,
so I feel like it's much
more personal in that sense.
- Sure.
- But I'm not talking down on track days
because they seem just as fun.
I just haven't done it yet,
I need to do it next year.
I'm telling you right now,
next year, I'm gonna do it.
- We can go together.
- Okay, cool.
- Let's do it.
I'll whoop your ass.
- I'll hold ya hand.
- What?
(laughing)
- [Max] Number four.
Re-drilled wheels or adapters?
- Isn't that where they
literally take a wheel,
weld the existing holes and then cut--
- [Dakota] And literally
re-drill it, yeah, sounds kinda.
- No.
- No.
- I will take adapters.
- Yeah.
- All fuckin' day over that.
- But yeah, re-drillin'
wheels sounds kinda shady.
- I feel like, to find someone to do that,
and then actually have them do it,
you're gonna be spendin' probably
just as much, if not more,
to get that process done.
- Yeah.
- And to find someone to do that,
then it would be easier to
just go buy some adapters--
- I would just, at that point,
yeah, I'd just run adapters.
- [Gels] Yeah.
- Think that's pretty straightforward.
We'll see what the people
say in the comment section.
- Fitmentindustries.com.
- [Max] Fifth question.
Mark 4 Supra or Mark 5 Supra?
- So, I'm gonna pick Mark 4 Supra,
targa top, six-speed manual,
and yeah, I'm gonna live my best life.
Yeah, I'm pickin' the Mark 4 Supra.
It's classic, it's iconic, it's cliche.
- [Gels] I'm gonna have
to go with the Mark 4.
I'm sorry, I love the Mark 5,
I really, really want one--
- I do, too, I do.
I really like it, a lot of
talkers out there, but I like it.
- If you were to hand me two cars and say,
you say, bam, Mark 4, right?
- Yep.
- Bam, Mark 5, I'm gonna take the Mark 4.
- There it is.
There you have it, folks.
- There you have it.
- I think that says a lot about
the new Supra, though, unfortunately.
- [Max] Bonus question.
- Bonus question!
(screeching)
- [Max] Daddy Dakota or Daddy Alex?
- All right, I'mma head out.
- You already know the answer,
this isn't even a this or that.
It's just that, baby, Daddy Dakota.
There it is, you gotta at least pick.
You won't break my heart if you pick Alex,
but I'll be mad.
- It's not what I'm worried about, okay?
(laughing)
- It is kind of a weird one.
- All right, I'll let Max
answer this question for me.
- Daddy Dakota.
(wooing)
- Let's go, baby, feels good.
- All right, that's gonna wrap it up
for this episode of This or That.
Don't forget to subscribe,
and if you want your
question answered down,
make sure you drop it down
in the comments below.
I messed that up, I don't care.
- Hell yeah.
- I need to go take some
Excedrin or somethin'.
Don't forget, wheels, tires,
suspension,
fitmentindustries.com, I'm Gels.
- I'm Daddy Dakota.
(laughing)
- And I'm out, we'll see you later, peace.
- [Max] Daddy Gels.
(upbeat music)
