MyChevrolet App: Overview

MyChevrolet App: Overview

Bachman Chevrolet:

In this video we're gonna be looking at
the MyChevrolet App.
So here's the app a new open it. A grid of 9 apps total.
First app is roadside assistance. It
shows and pinpoints your car and gives
you a number that you can call for
assistance. Next we've got a parking reminder.
Again, shows you where your car is, it allows you to add a photo as a reminder,
so it opens up your camera so you can take a picture of your car.
And you can also set a note, so you can
remind yourself in words.
For example, "it's over there"...not
very helpful, but that's where your car is.
Next we've got the schedule service, so you can find which dealer you want, what cars
coming in,
what kind of service you need, when you
need to be in a now and out. Then to find a
dealer you can
use your current location, search by zip code, search by dealer name,
or set your preferred dealer.
The next icon is Chevy's current offers
icon and it allows you
to look through all of Chevy's current offers on service and maintenance.
Next is the owner's manual and it's a
digital manual
for your vehicle, so you can look through everything that you would
be able to look through in the physical
manual in your vehicle.
You've also got the lights and indicators
tab that shows you all the different lights
or indicators that may pop up
on your dashboard that you wouldn't know and it gives you a description of what they mean.
Next you've the profile settings, and that
allows you to custom
and tailor the app to you and your
vehicle.
Finally, one of the coolest features is the
OnStar remote link.
Now you have to have this setup with
OnStar,
but it allows you to look through your
wifi connection in your car,
hands-free calling. The map setting
allows you to find where your car is and
pinpoint it, and you can also send
directions.
So I wanna go to Starbucks; I can find it.
I can either call them
or send turn by turn to my car.
Next I can look through my vehicle status
and that shows me my fuel range, my oil
life,
and my tire pressure.
Also it shows me my fuel efficiency.
So over the lifetime the mpgs, how
many miles I've gone,
but the coolest feature is the key fob. It allows me
to lock, unlock, remote start, cancel the start,
turn on the horn and lights, and stop
the horn and lights.
So we'll show you a small
demonstration of the key fob feature,
which is everyone's favorite.
So here we have our Malibu and I just
remote locked it.
So there it's locked, now I'm gonna hit
remote start button.
Now it will take a moment considering
that I'm actually sending the signal to
a satellite
an OnStar satellite in space and
sending it back to the car, but it's
really cool.
There you can see it locks,
and the other lights turn on to show that it just started. Alright now, I'm gonna cancel that start.
I didn't really mean to turn on my car.
So now it's gonna send that signal
again and there it
went, it turned off.
Okay so now my mother-in-law called
me and told me that my car,
somebody's trying to break in my car,
while I'm at the airport so I turn on the horn
and lights.
Pretty helpful.
Now they've run away and I don't
wanna leave it in an airport parking lot
honking,
so hit the button and it turns off.
So that's how to use the MyChevrolet
app and
the accompanying
the OnStar remote link app.

How To Connect Your Apple CarPlay in Your Chevrolet Silverado

How To Connect Your Apple CarPlay in Your Chevrolet Silverado

Will Tinney:

Another tech-savvy feature in the Chevrolet Silverado
Is the ability to be able to connect both Android Auto
and, as I am going to demonstrate in this video, Apple CarPlay.
Notice this projection icon.
That's the icon you're going to want to pay attention to while setting up your phone for Apple CarPlay.
Setting up your iPhone for Apple CarPlay is easy!
You're going to use the lightning cable that came with your iPhone.
Once inserted into the phone you may notice a blue bar on top.
And, your iPhone will say Apple CarPlay.
You'll also notice that this tile icon now says Apple CarPlay.
And, the Bluetooth is disconnected.
When using Apple CarPlay it is very similar to using Chevrolet MyLink
However, the experience is much like that of any Apple device.
You'll notice that the layout and icons are very similar.
You have your Home button, you have your signal strength to your iPhone or if you are connected to WiFi,
You Also have the time,
Then you have the layout of your iPhone... Phone, Music, Maps, Messages,
what's playing now, if you have Podcasts saved on your phone,
Audio books,
and other related media.
One of my personal favorites in CarPlay, when using the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, is
is the ability to summons Siri to get directions to just about anywhere.
For this example I'm going to push the Voice Command button which is located on the steering wheel.
Beep - Find the nearest Starbuck's coffee - beep
Siri says: The nearest one I found is Starbucks on health drive SW.
Let me know if you want more information
With one touch of a button and one single voice command
you can find the Starbuck's, using Apple CarPlay, nearest you.
If I want to go here I just hit "Go"
One thing you'll notice is that any of the app's when open
when they are open, their icons will be stored over here.
So if you want to get out of one app and be able to go back, let's say your music
you can see what's playing here
but instead of just hitting the back button, I can go
I can go right to here, in this Apple CarPlay app, and it'll use Apple Maps to take me to the destination I was going.
This is handy if you're traveling and you need to bounce between several apps
and different things such as the radio
and also GPS
Another great thing about using Apple Maps in CarPlay, is that other
destinations that you may have used before in the past
are going to be stored from your iPhone
because it's pulling it into CarPlay from your iPhone
Driving while staying connected is great when using Apple CarPlay.
If you receive a text message.
You'll simply see the message right here
You don't even have to respond to it, but you'll know at least you have a message.
When you have time though,
You can select the SMS message
Siri says: You have a message from someone with a 616 area code.
Siri reads the Apple CarPlay text in the 2017 Chevy: Thank you for the email
Siri asks: Do you want to reply?
Beep, Yes... Siri says: Go ahead...
No problem!
I'll send you another email when I get to the office: Apple CarPlay SMS text demonstration.
Siri reads back from Apple CarPlay the text message: Ok, it says...
No problem, I'll send you another email when I get back to the office.
Siri will then ask you, in Apple car Play, if you want to send it.
What I like about that is you can make corrections to a text in real-time using Siri in Apple CarPlay.
It's just like using your iPhone, but you're not being taken away from, or distracted from driving with what's going on here on the Chevy's MyLink touch screen.

How To Use Android Auto Phone in 2017 Chevy Silverado

How To Use Android Auto Phone in 2017 Chevy Silverado

Will Tinney:

One of my favorite features in the 2017 Chevy Silverado is the ability to connect
and use, Android Auto!
Android Auto is an app that you will want to download from the Playstore and install on your phone.
To get started with Android Auto, all you have to do is connect this cable right here (USB cable)
You'll notice that the Android Auto icon pops right up.
This is Android Auto.
In the center we have the home screen button
and the we have your music and playlists.
and then we can quickly return to the Chevy MyLink system if we choose to do so.
If you're ever lost in the app, just select Android Auto home button.
You have your phone icon right here that takes you to your smartphone and contacts.
the menu display, you have your voicemail, a dialer, call history and missed calls shown
It's like your phone.
And you have directions (GPS) which is basically Google Maps!
One of the most fascinating things about Android Auto is it uses the Google Now network.
Say: OK Google
Directions to Gerald R Int Airport
-- Android Auto: Google listens --
Android Auto says: Gerald R International airport is 18 minutes from
from your car in light traffic --
Just like that, there is your destination mapped out (showing Google Maps in Android Auto
We'll select the quickest route
Texts messages in Android auto is just as easy!
You can listen to the message just by tapping on it.
Android Autot says: Here's the message.
The proposal looks great -- says Android Auto
You can press the voice button and and say reply.
I hope you appreciate this video.

Will Tinney:

Congratulations on your new 2017 Chevrolet Colorado.
In this video we are going to show you how to pair your Android smartphone using Bluetooth
To the Chevrolet MyLink.
We'll also show you how easy it is to connect Android Auto.
Here's how to pair your phone using Bluetooth.
Step one, select the phone icon.
Step two, select pair device.
Now, select the settings icon from your phone.
Go to Bluetooth
Under Bluetooth, you'll see Chevrolet MyLink pop-up.
Select that.
Select OK to Bluetooth pairing request.
Select yes on the screen.
Now your phone is successfully paired to the Chevrolet MyLink system.
Once your phone is successfully paired
You can now send and receive calls as well as send and receive text messages.
For example, when a call comes in, you won't have to touch your phone at all.
Other great features when your phone is paired by Bluetooth
Is the fact you can access all of your contacts. Select the phone icon.
You'll see your contacts listed... You can also go to recent calls.
You can also go to voicemail.
And you can pair other phones or see what other phones in the family are paired.
To pair another phone, you can go to pair device.
And follow the steps in the beginning of the video.
The current phone that is connected is listed under the connected icon
To disconnect that phone, you'll want to select the "X"
It'll then ask if you want to disconnect your device
When your Android phone is successfully paired to your Chevrolet MyLink system
in your new 2017 Colorado
You can send and receive text messages
without ever looking at your phone.
At this point you can listen to the message
view the message,
or dismiss it.
In this case we'll listen to the message
At this point you can reply by selecting the reply icon
or call the person back.
For this example we are going to reply.
On an Android phone you can use
pre-selected text messages.
such as, call you later,
or driving and can't talk right now.
You could also add
new predefined messages by selecting that
The first thing you need to do to use Android Auto is to download the app from the Playstore
Once downloaded, please accept the permissions.
This will allow Android Auto to work seamlessly
In your new 2017 Chevrolet Colorado
What's Android Auto is connected it works just like Google Now.
All you have to say is OK Google
Show me directions to Kent County Airport
Google Now talking back
It's that simple
Similar to when you pair your phone by Bluetooth to your
2017 Chevrolet Colorado
Android Auto also works the same
hands-free calling features
Another similar feature is that you can also access voicemail,
call history, missed calls,
or even dial from Android Auto.
Real quick we will cover the icons at the bottom of the screen in Android Auto.
The first one in the lower left corner is for directions, which is basically Google Maps.
The second one is the phone icom
which allows you to access all of the calling features we just discussed.
The next one is going to be the home botton.
which anytime you get lost in an app, just hit the home button and it'll take you back to the home screen.
Next is the music app
Next to that is the icon to go back to Chevy MyLink
Using the music app in Android Auto is just like using it on your phone.
You can select through your playlist, select a song
And thumbs-up it or thumbs down it.
Thanks for watching the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado MyLink and Android Auto how-to video.

How To Use Apple CarPlay in a 2017 Chevy Colorado

Will Tinney:

To access Apple CarPlay, select the Apple CarPlay icon.
From here your infotainment system works like any other App device.
For example, in the lower lefthand corner you have the home button.
Above that is going to be your signal strength and your time.
Next to that is the phone icon, music icon, maps,
and then messages.
Below you have now playing, podcasts that might be saved,
audio books in your library and
other features that may be associated with audio files
To access Siri for things like directions, push the
push and hold the talk icon on your steering wheel.
To get directions simply tap on the maps selection shown.
Once the map opens up, all you have to do is select go.
When receiving a text message in Apple CarPlay
all you have to do is select on the message.

How To Use Android Auto with a 2018 Chevy Traverse | Tinney Automotive

How To Use Android Auto with a 2018 Chevy Traverse | Tinney Automotive

Will Tinney:

Hi guys, I'm Julie, and today we're going
to talk about how-to connect your Android
phone to the Chevy Traverse.
Android Auto is a simple way to use your Android
phone while in your vehicle.
The all-new 2018 and 2019 Chevy Traverse is
equipped with Chevy's MyLink system which
supports Android Auto.
To start, you'll first need to download the
Android Auto app from the Google Play Store.
Next, connect your Android compatible phone
to the MyLink system using the cable that
came with your phone.
Once you've connected the phone you'll notice
the Android Auto icon will appear on the MyLink
8" color touchscreen.
Now, simply select the icon to use Android
Auto.
Let's get equated with the icons.
First, directions or location using Google
Maps.
Handsfree calling.
Return to Home button.
Music or podcasts and audiobooks.
Return to Chevy MyLink.
And back to Android Auto.
In the upper righthand corner of the screen,
you'll notice your phone strength signal,
battery life, and right next to the clock
we have a microphone which communicates with
Google Now.
Hey Google, what's the weather today?
Today in Ureka Township it'll be cloudy with
a forecast of a high of 35 and a low of 26.
Let's start with how to use Google Maps.
Let's start with the menu bar located in the
upper left-hand corner.
Any searches you may have done on your Android
phone are stored in Recent Places.
Categories will take you to some fun cool
places, some great restaurants, I love a good
coffee shop.
And of course, if you want to turn on traffic
notifications, you've got that right here.
Tapping on the search bar will bring up the
keyboard and you can search for any location
your looking for and hopefully, it's not too
far.
To talk to Google, select the microphone.
But only if do that if you're parked.
We always recommend that you use your voice
activation button on the steering wheel.
To use, simply press and hold, and ask your
question.
Where's the nearest Subway?
Showing results for where's the nearest Subway.
Here, we have the phone icon.
With this, you can listen to your voicemail,
dial a number, review any call history, and
check missed calls.
Pretty simple.
And now for my favorite, to listen to some
jam's, audiobooks, podcasts, it's all right
here.
Hit the headphone icon and you can take it
away.
Receiving a text is very easy and it does
not interfere with your driving.
Ken Yonker's iPhone says did you get the tickets
to the Golden State Warriors?
Do you want to reply?
Later.
Okay.
If you're driving and can text another time
just let them know you're driving.
Receiving a phone call is very similar.
Simply select the icon.
And handsfree calling can begin.
Another great safety feature is the handsfree
calling icon on your steering wheel.
Just press and hold.
Call Ken's iPhone.
Calling Ken Yonkers iPhone, mobile.

¡Onstar Prueba! | General Motors | Parte 2

¡Onstar Prueba! | General Motors | Parte 2

Tixuz:

Hello friends I´m Sergio Oliveira, here we have Lalo Vargas and Poncho Monreal
from Onstar and we wanted to make a demonstration for you of what
Onstar is and how the services of location,
Emergency, ect. from Onstar
Poncho, shall we get going? Of course, thank you for having me here
I´m very happy to be here in Guadalajara, and its very simple as we stated in the previous conversation
the interface for vehicles that have Onstar will be found on the rearview mirror
or in the pannel above the rearview mirror depending on the model
go ahead Sergio, press the button, press the blue button
conecting
with Onstar. What the system is doing at this moment is making a
link from the sim card that the vehicle has, to be able to contact
our call center after- this call may be monitored
for quality of service. - we are answered by an advisor live and we will be listening
to what they say to us. Welcome to Onstar Adrian Speaking
how can i help you? Hello Adrian I´m Alfonso Monreal, and I´m here with a few friends
Sergio Oliveira from Guadalajara and Eduardo Vargas which is also from Guadalajara
I want you to help us with a few things- yes of- i want, oh sorry
what would you like me to do? i would like you do a diagnostic on the vehicle
and afterwords i will be asking you to help us with navigation
very well, give me a moment to be able to do the diagnostic
for the vehicle and it is necessary for the vehicle to be on
is that the case? the car is on, we are not moving but it is on.
very well i will start the diagnostic for the vehicle and will put you in a waiting room for a few minutes
and i´ll be back with you shortly to give you the results
we will be right here, thank you. what will the advisor do now? what he will do
im going to make an analogy for this, he´s basically sending a message
to the vehicle asking how its doing, and the vehicle returns the information
in a list saying this is how its functioning, and now the advisor
is going to tell us what he sees in the system, even telling us the air pressure in the tires.
that is what gives you
the satisfaction and tranquility that your vehicle
is in good conditions in case you have to go on the highway
one very important thing is that he is not going to tell us how much gasoline there is
he won´t tell us that because we can see that right here
so at the time
of the connection, the data is sent through
and they have the combination through the Audio- are you still there? yes, thank you
the diagnostic for the vehicle has been completed
and the system is indicating us that the ABS breaks, the airbags
transmission, the Onstar system, as well as the Motor are all
functioning correctly, and the odometer reads 823.98
kilometers, and the lifespan of the oil is 85%
and as far as the tire pressure is concerned, the front tires
the front left is 30 poinds, the front right is 31 pounds
as far as the back tires are concerned the left tire has 30 pounds
and the right tire has 32 pounds, and all systems appear to be functioning properly
and if you could tell me the place you would like to go to
set up your route. Yes, i would like for you to set up navigation
to a Superama, whichever one is closest
The closest Superama, very well, according to the system
the closest Superama from where you currently are
is the Superama Bugambilias
which is found on Bugambilas boulevard 4460 and that one is on the way back
about 2.5 kilometers away, i have another one located
on the route you are currently on, and is called the Superama Mariano Otero
which is found on Mariano Otero avenue, to which of those
would you like to go to? To Bugambilas. Bugambilas, very well
at this time i will send a step by step route through the navigation system do you know
how this system work? I have a proposal for you,
send it to the Navigation system for a steo by step route, i already know it
but Sergio and Lalo still don´t know about it, or are not too familiar with it and
i will then ask for another navigation for location downloads so they can know the
differences between them. Very well, Mr. Vargas
let me briefly explain how this system works,
it is very easy to use and will safely guide you to where you want to go through automatic
voice directions which will guide you throughout your route including the names of streets and distances
until each turn throughout your route, in this manner you will not have to
program something on a map or take your eyes off the road, and the system will let you know
if you missed a turn and will offer a new route to continue to your destination
at this time i will send your route, drive safely and have a wonderful day
thank you. See you later.
with this kind of navigation, as we were saying earlier, there are vehicles
that don´t have a navigation system like this Equinox does, and then you´d ask, welll, how are they going to send it to me?
they are going to send it to that screen? they will send it to the screen. So you don´t have to touch
anything? You don´t have to touch anything- the directions are being sent
to your vehicle. everything is done through voice, we were talking with
him, he sends the information. You save yourself the time of having to input things into the GPS
and its safer- as sergio was saying
first you have to study the GPS because there is so much information there
and here its safer because- 4460
Bugambilias boulevard, which is found 4.2
kilometers away, or 8 minutes
start on Bugambilias boulevard towards the east - a piece of advice, to cancel
the route, press the button for voice activation
and say cancel route. And from then on
we follow our route, wherever we may be, this sytem does not use the navigation system
this system only uses the screen, and as i was telling you, i can have a car
without a navigation system, like a Trax without a navigation system or a Cheyenne
that doesn´t hve a navigation system, or a Sonic that doesn´t have one, and -
the premium has it- but if it didn´t- as long as it has a screen
with this sytem it will give us- here
we finished the phone call, we are no longer speaking with the advisor and they left
everything in the system, if i make a mistake or pass it up, the system will ask me
you´ve gotten off the route, do you wish to recalculare? yes, no, or cancel,
i say yes, and it recalculated the route and sends me back
and its a verval system, i don´t have to stop, or say damn i missed the turn
So its not necessary for your car to have a GPS
even if it doesn´t have a GPS, as long as it has a screen, your good to go. Exactly
that really cool because cars with GPS are more expensive
there are many variables, but there is a difference in the price
but today all the vehicles have the entertainment systems that we see here
they have a screen here, its not the radio that vehicles used to have
or that you used to buy a stereo for it or something like that, and you don´t do that anymore, everything is integrated
but now its much more practical and comfortable to use
and everyone in the automotive industry is doing this, whats the point of all this? to make your life within this vehicle, easier
to be more connected, and something im going to talk about
now is that we are going to have an evolution which we announced a month ago
the evolution is that the vehicles from General Motors are going to offer 4G
its as if you had a smart phone here, so you who are back there
you could say we are working, doing everything that we need to do
and you could be connected to the internet through the car, without using data
so the car is going to give you internet? it will give you internet.
when is that going to happen? its going to be from the 2018 models onwards, about a year from now
and that is the next evolution that Onstar will take
I´m going to cancel this route, and as they said you can cancel
it from over here. Onstar, ready . Cancel route.
Cancel Route, do you with to cancel the directions? Yes.
Yes, okay. Canceling the route.
thank you, goodbye. I´m driving and i now know where it is
or i remembered how to get there, up here
which you can´t see from this camera, this is a microphone and it detects everything
that we are talking about, i don´t need to yell, I don´t need to speak any louder
Hey, sorry for interupting you, something that has me worried
can that microphone listen in on all conversations? how do you know
that what we are talking about is private?
They are not listening in, because the entire system is only activated after pressing the button
and as we saw in the conversation with the advisor, when he says
im closing the call and will send it to the navigation system
from there on we cease to have any communication with the advisor and he stops listening
can they activate it remotely? they can find you if and only if
there is a report that the vehicle has been stolen
-I reserve the right to distrust that
I think lalo has a point there, i think you can do that
I think that ethically the company is not going to do it, but the technology is there
for example, if someone hacked the system
they might be able to do that. What im going to tell you now is that
can people do it? yes they can, however
we have a process- and its something interesting, our advisors are trained
to be able to attend any needs, our advisors in our service center
don´t have paper, pencils, pens, they don´t have internet
acess, they don´t have their cellphones, and they tend to the phone calls
imagine that we are currently having between 1,200 and 1,500 calls a day
there is very fast dynaic activity
and they are tending to a call for navigation, diagnostics, servicing, emergency services
be it a crash or an accident, they are there in a more continuous way
the service is growing more and more, today we have 60,000 vehicles
in our country that are running with the Onstar system
so the advisor has lots of control, and we have lots of control over the flow of information
because of private information for example, they cannot take a screenshot of that screen
they can´t send any information through the internet, they have a team leader
and they have an operations manager, so whenever they need assistance
the team leader and the general manager handle it, and there is a ladder
there is a chain of command within the organization. Its very good because if they steal it, it becomes easy
to find it with this system, the problem is when that works backwards
they will know everything about you and people won´t necessarily like that. Thats no necessarily true
because we don´t record everything, we don´t save your history
any calls are held for a maximum of 90 days, and after that time period
the server itself will delete those calls, what
we do record is questions regarding emergency situations or car theft
because it could have legal implications, but in those first 90 days
what we do is- let me fix this because
a vehicle is trying to come in. Okay. What we do
is save the reccords for cases like that
but we don´t keep any registries
we wouldn´t have enough time, and we would not have the ability
to save that much information on a server, imagine just how much information that actually is.
So we don´t do that, and we are very mindful of privacy
as far as what you were saying Sergio, yes we could
listen in, but we would be commiting a crime in doing so
so more than just the ethical implications, its also the legal implications
Something i am curious about
If i´m visiting Mexico, or i rent a car that has Onstar
and i don´t speak spanish very well, can i ask
for an advisor that speaks portugese? would that be avaliable? yes, the advisors
are generally bilingual, speaking english and spanish, however
if you want someone who speaks portuguese, French, Dutch, we have a service for that
and that service you get by presing the button and saying no spanish
no english, portuguese, the advisor would understand this
and he would then make a connection to an interpreting service that we have
that translating service, the advisor would stay on the line
hes going to speak with the translator and the translator will tell him
the person in the vehicle wants this information, so the advisor tells the interpreter
and then they relay that information, we have up to
I´m not sure if we have 15 or 20 languages, but we have french
portuguese, Italian, dutch, someone once asked if
we had russian, and I believe we do have russian, and there are connections
that we have- all of that for 450 pesos a month? all of that.
for people who live in Latin America that is approximately 22.50 dollars. Approximately.
thats the price in Mexico, because many times
the mistake is made of how much did that car cost you? here 20,000 dollars,
that does not mean that
it will also cost 20,000 dollars in Brazil, because you have differences in taxes, equipment
sometimes the motor is different, there are many things that influence that
every country is different. What i can tell you is that the service for Onstar is very similar
to the price of the service in the United States, it is around 25 dollars. But we make
less money here. That is true, there is a difference there
Even still, we are made aware that with 450 pesos a month
you have all of those services, and it does give you value for your money
and it also backs you up, and as we were saying before, Onstar can save your life
in case of an accident- or your vehicle for people who are more worried about that.
it can also help the authorities to get your vehicle back if it is stolen
and as you were saying, you also have an assistant which we just saw
you have that avaliable 24 hours a day just by pressing the button. That is very cool
thank you very much for explaining everything to us. See you Poncho, goodbye.
the leader in security services, easy to use,
and reliable, which is integrated into your vehicle offering you peace of mind
and convenience. Onstar, keeping you connected
in ways you never imagined.
