What does chevy mean?
chevy. Noun
1. A hunt or pursuit.
chevy. Verb
1. to hunt or chase
For example, 1893: On the contrary, it seemed rather a piquant thing to us to chevy him about the playground and hit him over the shins with a wicket. Arthur Conan Doyle, The Naval Treaty (Norton 2005, p.666)

2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Reveal - Finally, A Mid-Engine Corvette!

Edmunds:

[MUSIC PLAYING]

CARLOS LAGO: We just watched
the reveal of the 2020 Chevrolet
Corvette Stingray.
The base price is going
to be less than $60,000.
That's incredible.
This is the eighth generation
Corvette, and of course now
it's mid-engine.
There is a 6.2-liter
V8 right about here.
Now, that's a big deal
for a lot of reasons.
Well, one, it's the first
time that a Corvette
has gone mid-engine.
Two, it brings a ton
of performance benefits
and it makes a pretty radical
change to what Corvette is.
Really quick, that engine
is still a pushrod V8.
That means it's low, it's
sacrificing a little bit
of valve train sophistication
for sitting low in the car
itself.
It's attached to an 8-speed dual
clutch automatic transmission.
The only transmission
offering, and of course, it
drives the rear wheels.
Now, it makes 495 horsepower
with the performance exhaust,
and with Launch Control, and
with the performance options,
like the Z51 track package
that was on the C7, and so on,
enables 0 to 60 in less
than three seconds.
Push is pretty spectacular.
Now, one of things
that happens when
you switch to a
mid-engine configuration
is of course all that space that
was once cargo volume is now
engine volume, I guess?
But there's still
a trunk behind it,
which Chevy says can
fit two golf bags, which
is pretty impressive.
It shows Chevy's
commitment to understanding
the practicality
aspect of the Corvette,
and why owners really
appreciate that.
It makes this car more
usable for more people.
On top of that, there's also
a front trunk, or frunk,
up front.
Combined, both of those
compartments make 12.6-ish
cubic feet of cargo space,
which is pretty important.
Let's go a little
bit further up.
One of things they maintained
was the removable roof,
which has always been a
highlight of Corvettes.
It's nice to be able to
take the roof off and just
go for a cruise.
There are a couple of
other big, dramatic changes
to the rest of the car, as well.
Gone are the
transverse leaf spring
setup that used to underpin
Corvette for a long time.
Now we're just down
to coil overs, which
is more traditional,
and should make
for a really sophisticated
ride and handling,
especially when paired with the
magnetic fluid-filled shocks
that Corvette's been using
in recent years, and those,
we've really liked a lot.
Chevy says in the
press materials
that the Corvette equipped
with all-season tires
can generate 1 G laterally.
That's ridiculous
for all-season tires,
and that's such a high
amount of grip capability
that actually all Corvettes
now will have a dry [INAUDIBLE]
oiling system to ensure constant
lubrication to important engine
bits when you're
cornering really hard.
A lot of really
exciting stuff there.
Let's move our way to the front.
And one of the real advantages,
beyond all the performance
headroom, of having the
engine in the middle,
because it's putting more
mass on the rear tires,
giving them more traction to
brake, accelerate, and handle,
but you also move the passenger
compartment quite a bit
forward in the cabin.
And that means you can
put the hood down lower,
because there's no
longer an engine there.
You can make the
windshield bigger.
That gives you a
better sight line.
And because there's no
longer an engine blocking it,
you can have a shorter
and more direct steering
system, which makes the
whole thing feel more direct.
It also helps when you're
closer to the front wheels, too.
It makes the process
feel a little bit better.
Let's find a way to
hop inside and talk
about what's going on in there.

The interior's a
pretty dramatic change,
like the rest of
the car, I guess.
Two seats, of course.
Squared-off steering
wheel, which
looks interesting, but
in my experience, cars
that use this design work
pretty well because you have
four unique points
of contact that
help in doing hand-over-hand
steering around tight corners,
or when you're in a power
slide, as I like to do,
it helps you locate where
the center of the wheel
is really quickly.
Big digital gauge cluster
behind that, infotainment
display here, all
very driver-oriented
how it wraps around you,
especially this little trim
piece of HVAC controls.
Very interesting decision.
It's going to be a while
before we actually figure out
if we like it or
not, but I will say,
I like having physical buttons
rather than digital ones buried
in the menu.
One of things we
haven't talked about
is something that's
really impressive,
and that's a button
hidden up here
that lifts the front
end of the car when
you're approaching like a
speed bump or your driveway.
And the cool thing is when
you do that, you can actually
have the GSP system
remember where that was,
so when you get home, you don't
have to always hit that button.
Or if there's always a speed
bump or a pothole on your drive
home, the car will just
learn that as you use it.
And that's a really cool
thing to have in a sports car.
There's nothing more
embarrassing than scraping
the nose on your sports car
as you leave your driveway
in the morning.
Very, very embarrassing.
There's a lot here that we're
going to learn, and experience,
and talk about.
But for the time being, this
Corvette looks really cool,
and we can't wait to drive it.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado the Best Silverado Ever? | First Drive | Edmunds

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado the Best Silverado Ever? | First Drive | Edmunds

Edmunds:

TRAVIS LANGNESS:
Welcome to Wyoming.
I'm Travis Langness
for Edmunds.com,
and this is the all-new
2019 Chevrolet Silverado.
Basically, it's redesigned from
the ground up, from the frame,
to the body, to the powertrains.
It's bigger.
It's longer.
It's wider.
But we want to know if it's
the best Silverado Chevy's ever
made, so we're going to
take it out for a drive.

So we're in the
mountains in Wyoming
and we're driving around
in the new Silverado 1500.
And really, this feels
like an updated Silverado.
It doesn't feel
completely redesigned.
It feels really familiar.
So what's changed
about the Silverado?
The frame is built using
different materials.
It's a longer wheelbase.
It's longer from nose to
tail by almost two inches.
Pretty much all of the towing
improvements across the board
for the Silverado
come from the fact
that the truck is
450 pounds lighter
than the previous generation.
Now, that's coming
from differences
in steel, the aluminum hood,
aluminum tailgate, aluminum
doors, differences in
the strength of steel
in the chassis.
They took 80 pounds out
of the frame, another
80 pounds out of the
bed of the truck,
so instead of one
stamping, they've
used three different
pieces, which
also makes the bed of the truck
as much as seven inches wider
in the bed.
And also, you're looking
at the first up and down
power tailgate in
any full-size truck.
Kind of a no-brainer
on trucks these days.
Everybody's using a
power lift gate in SUVs.
Why haven't we
done it on a truck?
Under the hood is
the 5.3 liter V8.
Now, people from the last
generation Silverado,
if you own one of those, you'll
think, oh, so same engine.
Well, yes and no.
There is a 5.3 available with
the old six-speed automatic
transmission, but
the one we're driving
has the new
eight-speed automatic.
And it's the updated version
of that 5.3 liter V8.
So basically, what you get is
a different fuel management
system that Chevy says
will increase fuel economy.
And it-- for my
butt [? dyno-- ?]
hasn't changed the way the truck
drives much, which is good.
Gives you good power uphill,
gives you a good burst
as you're going
to pass somebody.
But what has changed
with the eight-speed
is it's quiet in here.
There's several
other power trains.
So you can get a diesel.
You can get the base V6.
You can get this V8 or
the six-speed transmission
with the older version of the
V8, different fuel management.
And you can get the 6.2 liter,
as well as that turbo four
cylinder.
If you don't need as much
towing or hauling capability,
that turbo four cylinder,
that may be the motor for you.
For me, I'd probably go
with the 5.3 or the 6.2.
They feel a little bit better,
have a little bit more thrust.
We don't have the
optional 22-inch wheels
on this truck, which
is absolutely something
I would avoid, because with
the standard wheel and tire
package, ride comfort's
great in this.
These seats are not the
high-end leather seats.
They're cloth, and
they feel great.
Going up a mountain road,
they feel just fine.
The split heating
function works great.
And really, if you're going to
go on a 1600 mile road trip,
tow a trailer, and take
your family on vacation,
this is an easy place to do it.
Also, this center
console comes up.
Take it up real quick, so
you can have a third person
up front sitting here.
Chevy did say that
the drag has changed.
As their dynamics
have gotten better,
drag has decreased with
the front end redesign.
And that's a small marginal
increase in fuel economy,
along with what will probably
be marginal increases
from the eight-speed automatic.
This one is, I believe,
19 MPG combined
with the 5.3 and
the eight-speed.
Along these roads-- they're
not perfect, obviously,
these aren't highly maintained
city roads-- the Silverado
feels really good.
It's not a bouncy ride quality.
Big sharp impacts aren't
really making their way
into the cabin.
Everything feels pretty
well-insulated from underneath,
especially when you've
got a good amount of tire
sidewall, which this truck has.
There's not a lot of body roll.
If you're worried about ride
quality on a pickup truck,
this one is doing just fine.

So this is the interior
of the new Silverado.
It's not so much a redesign
as much as it is an evolution.
For starters, we'll go with
this big monolith of a center
console.
This is just one giant piece.
It's not as high-content
as it could be.
We're in kind of a mid
trim level, something
that's a little bit
more typical for buyers.
And basically, you've got
auto stop start function.
You can put the
tailgate down here.
Traction control.
A nice little button that
puts all four windows down
at the same time.
There's a couple
of buttons missing.
There are some things that we
could have on this interior.
There's no plug here, but
on the higher trim levels
you do get that full
three-prong plug.
We've got one
USBC, one USB port.
It's got Apple
CarPlay, Android Auto.
And it's got a really
crisp look to it.
This one is the same size
as the previous generation,
but it's a little
bit nicer looking.
It's a little bit crisper.
Graphics, it's
really easy to read.
You've got the swipe from
one side, swipe to the other.
You can control most of
the stuff happening here.
The steering wheel
is much the same.
The TFT, the center
driver display here,
is a little bit better,
and everything is easier
to see at a moment's
glance when you're
looking down from the road.
Super helpful when
you're towing or hauling
and you just want to
spot your temperature
or spot your oil pressure.
It's definitely a good display.
And then Chevy has moved
over here some of the stuff
that you use for towing,
to the left of the driver.
There's a little
toggle here that you
can change between
sport mode or they've
got a little dynamic
racecar flag, and tow mode--
changes the shift
schedules, things like that.
Then you've got the
selector between
two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
You've got the terrain
selector to tell the truck
if you want hill descent control
if you're on rock or sand.
Then you've got the
controls for the lights,
and most of the
stuff over there.
And pretty much,
this is what you
get inside the interior
of all the Silverados,
and it's a really
intuitive layout.
It's not fancy.
It's a lot of new stuff, but not
a completely different design
that you have to get
used to something new.
Now, with that said,
this mid-level content
does have some plastic
materials that aren't awesome,
but really the touch points,
those things are good.
They feel sturdy.
One of the nice things
that GM has, Chevy as well,
is these split
level seat heating.
So you can heat just your back,
or your back and your butt.
Heating just your back is
perfect for long road trips.
Anybody with back pain
should demand this feature
be put in every car.
It makes the seating so
much more comfortable.
It's fantastic.
Overall, this interior
is a likeable place,
and definitely somewhere
I can see myself sitting
for a long time on a road trip.
So now we're in the
backseat of the Silverado
and it's huge back here.
There is an additional three
inches of rear leg room.
The truck itself is only 1.7
inches longer, nose to tail,
but they put a lot of that,
and then some, into the rear.
So four adults can sit totally
comfortably, probably a fifth,
maybe even a sixth when
you get that third seat up
in the front.
But if you've got
four six-footers,
there's tons of space
back here for everybody.
And it's pretty simple,
pretty standard back here.
A couple of USB ports, couple
of vents, which is nice.
Keeps the air flowing back here.
These seats are similarly firm
to the center seat up front.
But it's a 60/40
split back here.
And it's really easy
to fold these up.
So this one just
quick up, quick down.
There's no straps to pull on.
No handles.
And then also, there's some
pretty cool features back here.
This is typical, the center
console with the cup holders,
not new in any way.
But then this side seat
opens up and you have access
to behind the seat.
And the seat materials are
similarly nice to the front,
that same checkerboard pattern.
Pretty flat across the
bottom and the back.
There's not a lot of
bolstering back here,
but the cushioning is good.
This angle's not too bad.
It'd be nice if it were a
little bit further slanted back,
but it's decent for a road trip.

So we've spent all day driving
the new 2019 Silverado.
And basically, what
we've discovered
is that Chevy has taken a good
product and made it better.
This new truck is more capable.
It's more quiet on the inside.
There's more space
in the back seat.
You can tow more.
And there's that
wide array of engines
that we talked about,
which will make
it more economical and better
towing in the long run.
It generally feels
like a good refresh,
but they've added some
good updates to it.
But if you're
asking the question
is it the best Silverado that
Chevy has ever made, well sure,
but only by a small margin.

Why Not to Buy a Chevrolet HHR Car

Why Not to Buy a Chevrolet HHR Car

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines,
Marco's Delgado says Scotty I want to
get an HHR with a manual transmission
has 130,000 miles what are your thoughts
okay I don't like those GM products they
generally don't hold up over time, but
it's a standard transmission the worst
thing about the HHR are their automatic
transmissions are garbage and you don't
have one it's a manual transmission, now
that sets got 130,000 miles it's got a
little bitty four-cylinder engine in it
don't pay much for it, because they are
worth much when they're used, you get a
standard you get it at a cheap price
right, change the oil a lot take care of
it, who knows but don't pay much for it because just realize it when they get older
they're not worth that much money and
you want to pay much for it, and if you
get it cheap enough, hey you never know
it might last a long time just don't pay
too much for it because it isn't worth
that much, Theresa B says I got a 1998
Ford Taurus W hundred and sixty-four
thousand miles for free, but the radiator
was rusty, flushed alone, suspensions bad
valve cover transmission leaks
needs transmission motor mounts are
Ford Taurus is good car, okay
that's 98 Ford Taurus they actually had
quite a bit of problems, now the thing is
you got that car for nothing,
it runs decent and shifts decent do the
valve cover, oil leaks if it's not
leaking that bad, transmission fluid and
engine oils cheap just keep adding it,
and if the suspension is bad get some
struts and put them on it on and it will ride a
lot better, just don't put a whole bunch
of money into it, my advice would be,
drive a little while see how you feel
with it, does it feel solid enough does
it run and shift good enough and if it
does fix things a little at a time, if
it doesn't have just drive until the
wheels fall off and get rid of it, you
got it for nothing so you're not really
gonna be losing anything,
MDS 81 68 says, Scotty I have a shake or
wobble in the front when I take off from
a stop once in a while I thought it
could be the engine, clean the MAF
throttle port cleaner I had strut
replaced and it's still shaken or wobble
when I take off from a stop, a lot of
times it's just the motor or the
transmission mount is worn, because when
you take off, there's more torque on the
engine and so if the mounts are gone it will
wobble as it bounces back and forth
you want to check those mounts first to
see if there's any problem with that, now
let's say you have a car that is a
notorious problem like say, a Chrystler minivan that's doing
that
odds are two transmission is starting to
go out, because when you take off, if it
wobbles a lot of times it's the
transmission just starting to go out,
because if you got a suspension problem
like a bad tire or worn tie rods, the
faster you go the more it's gonna wobble
and yours is the other way around, it's
wobbling when you're taking off, you want
to pray that it's not an internal
transmission fault, because if it's that
you would have to go and get it rebuilt
which costs a fortune, so pray that it's
a motor or transmission mount first
because they're very easy to check, Zeno
2019 says Scotty I got a 2004
Trailblazer
and my dash lights aren't working what
could be the cause, people had the radio
out before the original dash cluster
and we got three more clusters put them
in and the light still didn't work what
could it be
it could be not having the radio when
you swap it out, because GM has these
insane designs, some of the modern cars
won't even start if you swap the radio
because part of the starting system
is in the radio circuitry, so you want to
check all the wiring by where the radio
was, something could easily be off now if
you hadn't had that radio taken out and not
replaced, the problem often is on those
you turn your lights on then you got
those things to make the lights brighter
or dimmer, that part often breaks now
that can be bypassed
because you can just take the wire off
of that and you can run it directly to
the clusters, when you have the car
running the cluster will get 12 volts
all the time and then the lights would
stay on, you couldn't adjust them and
make them dim or make them bright they'd
be bright all the time but hey, look at
me I'm getting old I want a bright so I
want those things as bright as they can
be, first thing I do is go to the light
feed on that cluster and just give it 12
volts and as it lights up, just rewire it
so that power comes from the ignition
switch to there when you start it up and
they'll be lit up all the time, Edoardo
Becerra says, Scotty hello from Italy I
have a 1984 Audi Quattro it overheats the
fan works I checked the inlet and outlet
temperature the two radiators and enters
in at 240 and exits at 140 what can it be, okay well it's leaving at a lot lower it's your
radiators are losing a hundred degrees
so they're getting rid of heat they're
doing their job, now the problem with
Audi's is, as they age they often have
problems with blown head gaskets, your
engine could just be putting out so much
heat that it's overheating
you want to watch my video, how to tell
if your head gasket is blown, do that test
because if the head gasket is blown it'll
overheat no matter how fast your
radiator can dissipate heat the engine
will create too much heat and then it will
keep overheating, so if you never want to

videos, remember to ring that Bell!

Corvette (C7) Stingray Z51 vs. Non Z51 : Stasek Chevrolet : Chicago Corvette

Corvette (C7) Stingray Z51 vs. Non Z51 : Stasek Chevrolet : Chicago Corvette

Bill Stasek Chevrolet:

Hi my name is Brent Baker with Bill Stasek
Chevrolet, I've received a few requests since
we've been posting videos of Corvettes on
YouTube about the differences between Z51
and non Z51 so I've brought in two of our
Corvettes to give you a quick rundown of the
details that you may need to know before you
make your next purchase. To my left we have
the Z51 it's designed as a track car primarily
but there are a few noticeable differences
visually that you can see. First is our 19
inch front, and 20 inch rear wheel. Compared
to the non Z51 with the 18 inch and 19 inch
wheel. Also keep note the compound on the
non Z51 tire is more of an all use all season
tire. When you look at the Z51 they actually
recommend not driving the vehicle under 40
degrees because of the very summer express
compound in the tire. Now, when you look at
the brake rotors, we have slated, vented rotors
on the Z51 package, but for the Corvette customer
who enjoys keeping their car clean, keep in
mind these rotors don't exactly go through
the sam tempering process that we have for
the non Z51 rotors, you can notice some corrosion
building up from being exposed to the elements,
because of the fact that this rotor uses an
aluminum core it can't go through the tempering
process know as Ferritic Nitro Carbonization
or FNC, that's a bit of a mouthful so Chevy
has decided to dub it the Dura-Life Rotor
System. On our non Z51 car these Dura-Life
Rotors will actually double the life expectancy
of your rotor, not only that, it reduces brake
dust, brake noise and squealing and also it
will preserve the life of your pads better,
so if you're looking for a car with longer
endurance and useability the non Z51 might
be the right choice for you, plus you have
the additional driveability of a tire that's
more suited to all seasons. Let's take a look
at some things that may not be visible to
the naked eye. On the Z51 in the rear end,
we have a transmission cooler and differential
cooler, on the coupe you'll have functional
vents on the top deck of the rear of the car,
on the non Z51 we don't have those additional
coolers and also on the coupe those vents
aren't functional, but are just there for
aesthetics. Underneath the hood, we have a
dry sump oil system standard, both automatic,
convertible, coupe, manual and remember this
dry sump oil system uses roughly three more
quarts of oil than a standard non Z51 oil
system, again this is more track oriented.
In addition to the dry sump oil system, we
also have an electronic limited slip differential
in the rear. There are plenty of reasons to
choose a Z51 or a non Z51 Corvette Stingray.
If you have questions that you need the answer
to please don't hesitate to give us a call

Discuss: Is General Motors' Policy on DC Quick Charging Slowing Chevrolet Bolt EV Adoption Rates?

Discuss: Is General Motors' Policy on DC Quick Charging Slowing Chevrolet Bolt EV Adoption Rates?

Transport Evolved:

It’s the world’s first long-range electric
car costing under forty thousand U.S. dollars,
can travel upwards of two hundred and thirty-eight
miles on a charge (more than three hundred
if you’re good with your right foot), and
is on sale now in certain U.S. markets and
South Korea.
But while the Chevrolet Bolt EV deserves a
place in the history books when it comes to
range versus price, this five-seat compact
electric car isn’t selling as well as some
had hoped.
What’s more, it’s being outsold by the
older, cheaper, less capable Nissan LEAF.
So is the Chevrolet Bolt just not priced right?
Is Nissan undercutting the Bolt EV so much
that people are going for the shorter-range
LEAF instead?
Or is General Motor’s lack of interest in
charging networks hampering the rollout of
this influential plug-in car?
I think it’s the latter -- and I’ll tell
you why next.
Hi there everyone!
It’s Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield from Transport
Evolved, and today I’m here to discuss why
I think sales of the Chevrolet Bolt EV are
being hampered due to a lack of decent DC
quick charging infrastructure across the U.S.
-- and why GM’s lack of interest in supporting
public charging infrastructure, along with
its policy of charging extra for DC quick
charging capabilities on the Bolt EV -- is
not helping.
Launched at the tail end of last year, the
Chevrolet Bolt EV was the first all-electric
car to go on sale with a price tag of less
than forty-thousand U.S. dollars and a real-world
range in excess of two hundred and thirty-eight
miles per charge.
And after a good month of sales in January,
when GM managed a decent number of sales in
the launch markets of California and Oregon,
sales during February and March have been
well… a little flaccid.
Worse still, the Bolt EV has been outsold
by the 107-mile Nissan LEAF, which, ahead
of the debut of the next-generation LEAF this
fall, has been heavily discounted by dealerships
looking to get rid of existing inventory.
But while some point to LEAF discounts as
the reason why the Bolt EV is not selling
as well, and others -- including me -- have
reminded folks that the Bolt EV is still only
available in parts of the U.S. while the LEAF
is available nationwide -- I’m starting
to think that the issue for slow sales lies
elsewhere.
Namely, the lack of decent CCS DC quick charging
infrastructure, and the lack of interest the
GM has in helping expand DC quick charging.
And the fact that GM charges seven hundred
and fifty dollars extra if you want a Bolt
EV that can use a CCS quick charging station.
Right now, according to the U.S. Department
of Energy, there are some one thousand and
fifty eight charging locations across the
U.S. that offer CCS DC quick charging.
That’s the standard used by the Chevrolet
Bolt EV.
There are one thousand five hundred and thirty
charging locations that can make use of the
CHAdeMO DC quick charging standard used by
the Nissan LEAF.
And if you’re interested, there are three
hundred and fifty-two Tesla Supercharger locations
(although each Supercharger site on average
has more stalls than either a CHAdeMO or CCS
site).
What does this all mean?
Well, in short, it means there are far less
places to charge a CCS-compatible car than
there are CHAdeMO.
And while the Bolt EV can travel a lot further
per charge than a current-generation LEAF,
the disparity between the number of charging
stations means that many prospective Bolt
EV customers are put off owning one.
Why?
Well, if there are less CCS quick charging
stations than CHAdeMO charging stations, the
likelihood of not finding a quick charging
station along a specific route or at our destination
is higher if we’re driving a CCS-compatible
Bolt EV than it might be if we’re in a LEAF.
What’s more, there’s less chance of redundancy
-- finding another compatible charging station
within easy reach if things aren’t working
as they should.
We’re creatures of habit.
We don’t like going out of our way to recharge
and we don’t like the idea of being stranded.
If there are few charging stations, even if
our car can travel further, we’re less likely
to want to own it compared to a model that’s
better supported.
Now, I’m making massive generalizations
here and I should also note that charging
infrastructure for CCS cars is catching up
to CHAdeMO, so in the not-too distant future
this shouldn’t be a major issue.
Then there’s the final issue.
While Nissan, and many other automakers are
actively supporting the roll out of DC quick
charging, investing large chunks of cash to
help establish a new fuelling infrastructure,
GM has said publicly that it sees infrastructure
investment as a job for charging providers
and government, not automakers.
Which means that while GM will sell you a
car, it won’t help you fuel that car, something
that BMW, Nissan, Volkswagen and other automakers
have been doing for a long time.
What’s more, these three automakers -- and
others -- have been offering customers incentivized
free charging when they buy a new car, lowering
the cost of ownership dramatically.
Own a Bolt EV and you’re on your own, paying
for charging and hoping that you pick the
right charging networks to be a member of.
If charging networks were already well developed
and widely available, this wouldn’t be an
issue.
But right now, it is.
Do you agree?
Is the Bolt EV losing out because of the charging
network policy of GM?
Or is there some other reason?

2016 Chevrolet Volt Review - AutoNation

2016 Chevrolet Volt Review - AutoNation

AutoNation:

Though the original Chevy Volt was a technological
breakthrough for GM, it unfortunately looked
like a refrigerator. This one, actually looks
like a proper car. And a very nice looking
one at that. So let’s poke and prod and
see if this new Volt is better than the last.
Under the hood is Chevy’s advanced electric
powertrain. This features two electric motors
that work in tandem with a 1.5-liter range-extender
gas engine to provide up to 420 miles of travel.
The EPA rates the 2016 Volt at 106 miles per
gallon equivalent, or 42 miles to the gallon
when running under petrol power alone. But
the main attraction of this vehicle is running
electric only. Where you can get up to 53
miles to the gallon before it needs recharging.
Even today many people perceive electric cars
as simple around-town two-seater affairs.
Well the fact is the Volt here is ready for
a family of four. It’s got four doors and
four seats. In the back, it is a little short
for a full-size adult. But you know what,
it’s really not bad for around town. Children
have plenty of room of course. And, it’s
got a couple extra niceties that you wouldn’t
really expect. It has a power adapter plug
right here and it also has seat warmers. Which
is really nice. Once we’re inside the Volt
we get an interior that’s actually really
amazing. You see, the previous generation
Volt had an interior that was more Frigidaire
than luxury car. This one is actually really
nice. It has soft touch plastics, it has these
lovely metal surrounds, and, finally, they
actually have proper buttons for the aircon.
I get to set the exact temperature, it even
has seat warmers. Well let’s go ahead and
turn it on and see what happens. Now the touchscreen
supports the basic Chevy functionality. We
have navigation, we have phone, Pandora, it
even has a cool button that shows me how my
energy is being used. Everything from basic
information like 85% of my energy is used
by driving and 15% by the climate system.
It also shows me energy flow, how much is
being used from the gas power, how much of
it is coming from pure electric. Moving along
we also have an extra cool feature here, because
this car supports Apple CarPlay. Hit a button
up there and now we have, it’s a screen
designed by Apple, and it looks really nice.
I have Pandora and NPR on here. I can also
do voice messages and I can ask Siri questions.
How old is Taylor Swift? “Taylor Swift is
26”. Moving over here we have the shifter.
It is a traditional shifter, there’s nothing
to relearn here. It has a rearview camera,
very nice. And in the main gauge cluster instead
of traditional dials, we have a fully electric
TFT. The left shows me the amount of battery
energy I have available, on the right is how
much fuel is available. You can alter it using
buttons here on the steering wheel, we can
see our speedo, total range, oil life, tire
pressures with exact numbers, which I like.
Now this car isn’t advanced only in its
drivetrain, it also has a lot of advanced
safety features. Such as blind spot monitoring
and collision detection. Which honestly, can
be really useful. If it saves you once it’s
done its job and paid its dues. But enough
talking about the inside, let’s see how
it drives. To drive a car that features such
an advanced drivetrain may seem a bit daunting.
But the fact is, it drives just like any other
car, a pretty good one too. Thanks in part
to a whopping 294 pound feet of torque from
the electric motors. Off the line it’s quite
easy to spin the front tires if you really
get into the throttle. And even though it
has not one, not two, but three separate motors,
you don’t have to worry about any of that
when driving. The Volt manages its powertrain
seamlessly. The only the way you’ll be able
to tell if it’s running on gas or electricity
is from indicators on the dash and a slight
hum from the gas motor when engaged. The new
Chevy Volt really brings the vision of an
electric car with nearly unlimited range to
the masses. But the biggest payoff is really
if you take its electric side seriously. Add
a level two charger to your house and you
may never have to buy gas again. For more

Eliminacion de Coodigo 89 Chevrolet Sonic. No more code 89 in chevy sonic

Vive Tu Sonic:

friends welcome again to the
sonic chevrolet channel today we want
show them
how to solve a problem that is very
frequent in these vehicles the
thermostat and that does not appear in our
boards the code 89
in some occasions it appears to us so
soon we turn on the vehicle and we give
boot at other times the code
usually appears

while he is sending the break to

this case
once we start the vehicle and
we wait a few seconds
89 appears
see there is
What is it
the screen with the indicator of a
problem and here
the error code as I told you is
how to make the thermostat replacement
The motor fan should only start at
work when the engine reaches a
temperature
we have the congo 89
when when he
he is not fan as he told them
it will only start working when the
motor reaches an indicated temperature
then there is activated and works until
lowers the engine temperature and returns to
start your work your operation
normal
and as we see the embers just
we have
good friends once removed the
thermostat
this is the spare part always
recommendable
buy the original general motors
or Korean manufacturing import
German core does not matter but let it be the
original of general motors
generics as I said they commented
some previous videos come out very
defective
they keep the code 89 on the computer
of the car as we distinguish the original
not only because of the packing in packing in which he comes but that we have the letters of gm and in the

The installation procedure is the

we make
we place the piece in its place we put the screws that hold it to

very important that we leave them

and then we go

always diagonally
when we go to press
to give it the torque we do it one day

we proceed to give them torque

we calculate that the pressure is the same
that we left up on the left side

and we went to the other day a screw that
it's diagonal after the other two

some kind of refrigerant leak

and connect the sensor its position

we make sure it stays connected
we are removing for

that takes the coolant to the radiator
but do not stay well connected
we will proceed to adjust it with the
and with these simple steps, friends
we finished making ourselves the
replacement of the thermostat
with this, the

car go back to work

let's put it to work a few seconds
with the radiator tank open
we complete the coolant level
