2017 Chevrolet Suburban Review | Features Rundown | Edmunds

Edmunds:
SPEAKER 1: I'm editor,
Travis Langness
and this is an Edmunds Expert
Rundown of the 2017 Chevrolet
Suburban.
For 2017, the Chevy Suburban
doesn't see too many changes,
pretty much stays the same
except for a few new items
like a low speed
emergency braking system
that pairs with it's
Collision Warning System
and a Teen Driver Mode for
your secondary drivers.
But that's pretty
much a good thing.
The Chevy Suburban is big,
utilitarian, can tow a lot.
It can seat up to
nine passengers.
It can tow as much
as 6,300 pounds
in the right configuration.
It is really big though and
that kind of gets in the way
if you're living
in a city, trying
to maneuver it in tight spaces.
A lot of the crossover
based competition
is going to be
better if you want
good fuel economy on the
highway and things like that.
And also when it comes to
the Suburban's nine passenger
configuration, you can only
get it on the base trim levels.
The trim level you see here,
as we go into the interior
and open it up, has
fewer than nine seats.
It's got the two cabin seats
up front, two in the rear,
and then three wide in the back.
And that back seat is actually
a little bit flat and a little
uncomfortable for road trips.
If you're going on a
long distance trip,
you might not want to
be sitting back there.
There's a lot of
cargo capacity though.
And as we mentioned, you can tow
quite a bit with the Suburban.
Also the fit and finish is nice.
There are multiple trim levels.
A lot of different options
you can add to the Suburban.
Pretty much any way you
want to get it you can.
And up front, there's a lot
of nice tech that can be had.
The Chevy MyLink System
is pretty easy to use.
Lots of good knobs and
buttons on the dashboard.
Easy to press when you've
got gloves on in the cold.
And also nice big
chunky steering wheel.
Bottom line, the 2017 Chevy
Suburban is super utilitarian.
It's great for big families.
But it's also worth
checking out its rivals
like the Ford Expedition
and the Toyota Sequoia.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD Duramax: First Look

Cars.com:
yeah
yeah
the latest salvo in the heavy-duty
pickup truck wars is from General Motors
the chevy and GMC heavy-duty pickup
trucks get nineteen percent more torque
twelve percent more horsepower and
thirty-five percent fewer emissions from
there turbo diesel powertrain still call
the duramax 6.6 liter v8 but this is a
whole new ballgame a brand-new engine
and an upgraded Allison 1000
transmission let's take a closer look
under the hood for the 2017 silverado HD
models that have the duramax 6.6 liter
v8 turbo-diesel you get this unique hood
but it's here for a reason
more than half of the air that goes into
this turbo diesel can come in through
these hood scoops advanced straight into
the engine compartment through actually
a kind of serpentine angle here before
it goes in on the far side of the engine
but interestingly for any debris dust or
water there's a whole canister here that
will suck that water in or dust and dump
it right out so it doesn't cause any
problems to the engine
otherwise the engine itself in almost
every single way is completely unique
the block the heads the cylinders the
connecting rods the exhaust system the
catalysts everything on this engine has
been touched the water can produce 445
horsepower and 910 foot-pounds of torque
now the six-speed allison transmission
that was already a medium-duty
transmission before so they just had to
make a few upgrades to that to deal with
the extra torque and the extra
horsepower this engine much more
efficient much more powerful and from
chevys point of view they wanted to
provide a more confident and safe feel
for anybody who's going to do heavy duty
towing Chevy gave us the chance to do a
little bit of towing and believe it or
not put us on an autocross course with
these big heavy-duty pickup trucks with
their diesel engines and the truth is
very responsive very strong very
powerful in fact with the Dooleys where
we were talking 10,000 pound trailers
very powerful off the line
even got the wheels to spin a bit before
the traction control kicked in but very
strong puller very powerful but this
isn't a perfect vehicle we still don't
have any way to see exactly what gear
were in when we're doing any driving
we'd like to see that we'd also like an
easier system to put the d EF fluid in
this new diesel engine is still use that
same old system where you have to pop
the hood and then try to fill up a very
small little fill hole with that de
fluid and that can be very cumbersome
and make a pretty big mess after our
first look
things look very promising this looks
like a very powerful v8 diesel that
should compete pretty well with the core
and rams so if you want to know more
about this 2017 chevy silverado HD and
the duramax diesel that's under the hood
go to pick up trucks . com

Instrument Cluster Repair – 2003-2006 5.3L Chevy Silverado (Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, etc.)

BlueDriver:
welcome to a very special edition of our
fear no fix video series on the BlueDriver
channel today we have one that's
kind of out of the ordinary there's no
trouble codes doesn't really hurt the
way the vehicle drives it's not unsafe
it's just a pain in the butt it's when
your PRNDL indicator is not reading
out so... there's a really expensive fix
and then there's a really cheap fix
Chris this is a great one this is an
honest full-on just repair we're not
replacing any parts we're just gonna
remove the instrument cluster we're gonna
resolder a bad connection
put it back in and we're good to go yeah
this happens all the time on these
trucks so hopefully this saves you a ton
of money and hopefully this video saves
you a bunch of time and if so please
like the video and subscribe to us on
our BlueDriver Channel let's get at this one Chris
the tools you'll need to
complete the instrument cluster repair
are a ratchet, a seven millimeter or
nine thirty second socket a ratchet
extension a soldering iron and wheel
chocks
we'll start by setting the steering
wheel as low as it can go next we're
going to put the ignition run for a
second and we're going to put the
gearshift as low as it can go
now we're gonna pry out on this panel
right here from the top looks like
someone already tried this repair a
couple years ago I swear this wasn't me
just start around the edges pull gently it'll pop out
and up and out
now we're going to take a seven millimeter socket and we're gonna remove the bolts here
here up here and back there
we'll have to put the gearshift back as
low as it'll go
pull the instrument cluster out
and then squeeze in on this gray connector right here
and that's it
all right we're set up on the workbench first thing we're
gonna do is take the instrument cluster
apart and then we're gonna have a look at that board
first we're gonna ply up on these clips here and here
and the clips on the other side
push on these two tabs with a
screwdriver and then pull up
now we're going to remove the gauge
needles pry up on the needle on both
sides at the same time and pull them off
the stepper motors
these resistors here are the most likely
culprits small cracks might develop
where the resistor is soldered to the
board
this can cause intermittent display
issues or the display might fail completely
this is a close-up of the
solder joint under a microscope you
don't need anything like this for the
repair this is just kind of to give you
a good idea of what exactly is going on
you can see at the bottom of this
resistor there's a small crack running
horizontally as the resistor pries up or
down this can make or break contact
causing the display to come on and off
just to play it safe we're going to
resolder each resistor
using your soldering iron melt the existing solder then add a dab of new stuff as well
we'll do this again now for each
resistor
now we're ready to reassemble the
instrument cluster snap on the front half
reinstall the gauge needles on the
stepper motors make sure the needles
can't rotate counterclockwise beyond the
zero position for each gauge if the
needles are put on incorrectly then when
you start the truck you might see
something like 5,000 rpm negative 1,000
rpm zero volts etc so they have to be
put on in the same position they came
off
snap on the back half of the instrument panel
that's it for the repair and now we'll
head back to the truck to see if it worked
now that we've resoldered all those
resistors we're going to put it back in
first we'll hook up this connector
the gray points back towards the front of the truck
put in our four seven millimeter bolts
put the gearshift in the lowest position again
and reinstall the dash piece
and then just push all around the
outside to clip it in
now that everything's reinstalled we're gonna give it a try and see if we can figure out what gear we're in
perfect everything looks great
ah ha! and there it is it works again
nice Chris now I know when I'm in drive
my garage door is safe so this one you
don't have to clear check engine light
no nothing you're back on the road not
hitting your garage door so if you liked
this video if it made your life easier
if it saved you a ton of money please
like the video and subscribe to our BlueDriver channel and until next time

HOW TO: Pair iPhone Bluetooth to Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban (2013 Models)

Bachman Auto Group:
Hi, I'm Tannis Bachman. I'm here at Bachman
Chevrolet in Louisville, Kentucky with Dan.
He'll be showing you guys how to pair your
iPhone with the Bluetooth for the Silverado,
Tahoe, and Suburban. The nice thing about
the Bluetooth technology in most Chevrolet
vehicles is that it is very easy to operate.
Specifically today we are in the Chevrolet
Silverado and it is the same with the Tahoe
and Suburban. It's really just a matter of
a couple voice commands and pushing a couple
of buttons. On the steering wheel there is
actually a place you can push and hold, it
actually shows a face and a phone so you know
exactly what you're doing. Push and hold that
for a couple of seconds and wait for the command.
Ready. Bluetooth. To pair your Bluetooth device
now say "pair" otherwise say "no." Pair. At
this point make sure your iPhone is open,
go to your Settings, look
for the right connection on your iPhone. It'll
actually say Your Vehicle right there; it
says, "Not paired" so you know you're not
paired. Push that, and make sure you enter
the pin number. Now with the correct pin number
with the Tahoe, Suburban, and Silverado will
actually show where you're odometer would
be. In this particular case it is 3281. Hit
pair. Please say the nametag you want to give
this phone. Dan's iPhone. About to store Dan's
iPhone, does that sound ok? Yes. Dan's iPhone
has been successfully paired. Returning to
the main menu. Ready. At this point we'll
exit and your iPhone is ready to use. The
Bluetooth connection in the Silverado, Suburban,
and Tahoe, will not just automatically recognize
the contacts that are in your phone. So you
can't just simply voice dial somebody just
because they're stored in your phone. However,
these vehicles do have an internal memory
and you can store up to 30 different phone
numbers for your convenience or the ones that
you use the most often. It is also a very
simple process. It's just a matter of pushing
the button on the steering wheel, holding
it down for a minute or two, and following
a few simple commands. For example, "Store."
Store. Please say the phone number you would
like to store. 502-499-6161. Please say the
nametag, avoid using a number as the name.
Bachman Chevrolet. About to store "Bachman
Chevrolet", does that sound okay? Yes. Okay,
storing Bachman Chevrolet. Returning to the
Main Menu. Now I've stored Bachman Chevrolet
into the internal memory of this Silverado
so if I ever want to call them it's just a
matter of pushing a button and telling it
what to do. Ready. Call. Call using Dan's
iPhone. Please say a name or number to call.
Bachman Chevrolet. Okay, calling Bachman Chevrolet
using Dan's iPhone. Thank you for calling
Bachman Auto Group. Joyce you're about to
be famous. Why? Because we're demonstrating
the Bluetooth and we're putting this up on
YouTube. Oh my gosh. Thank you! Alright, thank
you. Call ended. And now you can see how easy
it is to use the Bluetooth functionality in
the Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban.

CHEVROLET built C8 Corvette to COMPETE against 570s & Porsche 911. *Mid Engine Corvette*

CGarnerSpeed252:
so we are gonna give you a presentation
on the whys not just what this car is
how much it costs and what it does we'll
discuss that as well but also some of
the whys behind the architecture why did
we build a mid-engine why now and
specifically how this engineering moves
the car so first of all let's take a
trip back in time just deals with a lot
of history does anybody know the last
time a front-engine sports bar one of
the 24 hours of the month to another
year 1962 there was a very last time in
front engine sports car was competitive
at that level performance from 1962 to
now has been dominated by the engines
roughly around that same year Zora
arkus-duntov the father of the Corvette
it was building his first it's heard one
minute and prototype so it's taken over
50 years to get the mid-engine to
production in Corvette
he knew all those years and saw the
future he knew that the future
we've been injured here we are for
starters this is a lot bigger than a c7
this is almost six inches longer 2.2
inches wider for to substantially bigger
footprint NRC seven but it's also one of
the leanest sports cars we've ever built
and by lean I mean everything is fully
functional and everything is pulling as
taut as it can be to the underlying
mechanical components so for a lot
ground presentation here folks we're
going to start at the front and work our
way back if you can't see what we're
talking about we have an awesome film
through here
check out the screen just behind us here
hopefully you'll be able to see some of
the elements a little more up close you
can see it yourself so starting with mid
engine you have two schools of thought
you either build a tough chassis or a
center tunnel chassis the CA needs a
center tunnel chassis and there's two
benefits of that our frame here is
comprised of one large compress debts
aluminum backbone and six separate
aluminum cross braces building the frame
around that we need feature to that even
though it's not a tough chassis we were
able to increase structural rigidity and
are framed by 10% compared to the c7 and
it leaves us with a lot of available
space all the way around the exterior of
the car to run cooling and electronics
so start at the front with our main heat
disperses the biggest radiator is on
board the vehicle you can check it on
right up here to know if they are under
the headlights if you see the screen
behind us over there they're huge huge
paint dispersers they actually extend
further past those front fascia cross
brace into the side so the reason the
car is quite wide was largely just to
fit the heat dispersers in the vehicle
front mid and rear of the car yet heat
dispersers all over the vehicle we also
have the center front cutter
the flash metallic transition those are
interactive front brake duct cooler so
everything in the partner car is all to
do with dispersing heat whether it be
motor heat or your grace this is the
front trunk we also have a hidden
release for the front drop we fondly
call it the trunk the front releases
your mid way back plot that in latch in
theory as the car is unlocked in London
or not this one sec give me one moment
yearbooks everybody getting in and out
of the car the car kind of freaks itself
out and he puts it on demo mode just
give me one moment
hey Richard Richard you got it oh crap
it works step number one it is
functional from it is two feet deep you
can fit one overhead an airline size
rigid suitcase in there soft luggage is
definitely a friend you can get a couple
of duffel bags down in the front trunk
you have three mechanical components
riding with you in the nose of the
vehicle now you have your battery and
all your electronics centered here
adjustable that is your fluid reservoir
for your brakes this is a big story for
us here Corvette the first time we've
ever had break by wire breaks on board
we're calling and eBoost brakes
basically unless you digitally tune and
adjust your brakes while you're on the
go now a lot of you guys in the Corvette
Club I saw at sea sevens in the c7 you
can digitally adjust your exhaust know
your throttle response and your suspect
they'll do all of that on the c8 but you
can further fine-tune it to your daily
driving settings by adjusting your brake
feeling as well so of course we go track
sport touring and weather modes track is
going to be your most aggressive setting
touring is going to be your most
conservative softest setting setting you
can go anywhere within a Spectre than
fine tune and now for your daily driving
configurations and you can go even
further than that and adjust three
and earth setting so you have preset
settings remembered by your different
offices you get in the car the car
recognizes your key fob and digitally
adjusts everything without there having
to do anything at all a feature there
Andrew you're watching fluids up in the
midst of it all so those tests the
mechanical life of the car again just to
recap engine radiators brake duct Roland
battery in electronics driving by wider
grades and logically the turbocharged
the car yes excellent you're already
going this goes straight in the
auxiliary port right here notice those
large masculine fingers that go straight
in there you don't even have to touch
the battery at all once down halfway
leaving just enough space there for a
trickle charger to get our name from
winter storage sixty forty sixty in the
rear forty in the front with the front
being a little lighter
we had to engineer a way to make give
you a little more active John Force even
though
speed we've done that wind tunnel
testing giving you a really aggressive
angle in the front hood and at the front
windshield everything is pretty low
sloped back or slung back a pillars
because of that driver visibility was a
little bit of penis so we compensated by
having these passenger side mirror in
here you might have study the mirrors
all the way up but inside you
this actually sticks 2 inches further
out on the passenger side than it does
on the driver's side people don't even
know notice and we point it out but it
is 2 inches wider over here so when
you're sitting in a driver position you
still get great visibility on both sides
now looking down the silhouette of the
car our movie huge air intakes on either
side of the passenger side right here
you'll see on the spring of a giant heat
diffuser back here that's going to be
your primary transmission radiator on
the driver's side is actually hollow
that the top this would be a primary
engine breather you have your air intake
coming back through there it also
diverts into a multi valve system mid
way back back quarter panel you have
electric fans onboard for active heat
dispersion and also a wide up for your
rear brake cooling in the rear as well
so everything you see on this car is
fully functional and actually works good
active in dispersing really a lot one of
the biggest questions we get what
and how hot does it get when you drive
anybody anybody worry about that so
basically you have twin fans on either
side riding at the rear the vehicle
freshly hot air out so the engineering
design language the theory is hot engine
air is never allowed to accumulate in
time to affect temperature in the cabin
or in the rear trunk it gets out one of
two ways we have these perforated vents
back here on top of the engine bay and
the cantilever glass edge you can see
that the glass is not sealed over there
you can check that panel out the natural
laws of convection the heat rises you
can naturally make its way out over the
fans vacuum it out the rear of the car
directly between the exhaust pipes we
have these perforated mesh grates back
here it's pretty neat when we drive this
v8 this guy here's a handbill
reproduction throw to type you're
looking at today when we drive our
prototype our on our enclosed trailer
game head to the next job you can feel
the air circulating around the trailer
because the bar is doing exactly what it
was designed to do the idea is
the trunk of this car shouldn't melt any
faster than it would in any normal trunk
but the hot air is not given a chance to
sit in the end it's vacuumed out that's
sort of how that works
we'll get into the engine bay here the
question that we get on to ears what
about water the water get in these vents
the answer is yes water absolutely can
and that is totally fine you have a
drain system engineered into the engine
bay two drains right back here in the
furthest rear ducts and two circular
drains up in the nose as well as some
down in the bottom so if rain gets in
the car everything is angled so it
immediately gets shifted to one of the
trains and pushed immediately outside of
the car the only downside would emit
engine and this isn't just ours this is
most minutes on the marketplace you
can't bring it through a car wash now I
know most part of that guys would never
dream of bringing their four veteran
barois anyways as to get this guy's been
gardels finally noticed actually for a
mid-engine because you have active the
heat dispersal those new place for wash
this time hundreds of gallons of water a
minute so there is risk that I couldn't
fill up the fourth and terrain baser so
you want to wash it by hand I've been
told that the best way to do it on c8
stand nose in the car what was the whole
thing down the front the back watch
watch holding my hands and
and off the same way that way water goes
straight in those grates straight down
the side dogs sound it doesn't even
touch your regimen that's the way to
wash your car do it properly this is an
all-new engine all new transmission all
new magnetic ride control suspension
setup in fact there is only one part on
this entire car that was on c71
pre-existing part does anybody know what
it is who have any idea well I know you
know I know you know it already it is
the interior door latch that is it that
is the only pre-existing part onboard
the entire vehicle
maybe the whole new engine block is
title the LT - it is a 6.2 liter
naturally aspirated v8 a lot of you guys
in the car club had that same 6.2 liter
size in your C sevens but it's a whole
new block we have active dry sump
lubrication standard from the 1lt on up
we have three scavenging pots onboard
keeping it laterally equally lubricated
for up to one G at cornering speeds in
either and either side the benefits are
that are twofold number one it makes our
block a lot shallower so we can mount it
lower than the chassis during your
weight distribution in your handling and
number two it is because it's less
friction on board keeping it more
lubricated as you go so it's twofold
system of guilty - that is paired to an
all-new 8-speed dual-clutch
transaxle transmission
that's built with Jan and Tremec the
first six gears are pretty tightly
spaced keeping in the centers of power
bandwidth and the last year or free
space bar park for efficient highway
driving 0-60 is under three seconds with
the Z if you wanted without see if you
want package it's just a hair over but
still you're in that ball then we're not
really again a tepee dispersals keep in
flowing right out of the car that is
also the thickest made of glass every
day almost doubles the thickness of the
standard which in a way and the benefit
of that is twofold
it's keeping the heat away from you
dampen the sound behind them doing that
six just over a dual pane firewall which
is also insulated right behind the
scenes so you do get a lot of good news
to tell you well it's not as loud
storage space get twelve point six cubic
feet including the front and rear trunks
c7 who didn't have 15 as we've lost a
bit of storage space roof panel is 16
pounds super easy and lightweight for
one person to get into now if you go for
the carbon fiber roof that's going to be
14 pounds that's even a little lighter
while I have the roof out boats gonna
take a look in there and somehow meet
the rear trunk is two full sets of golf
clubs will you also have cutaways down
the sides down there in the corner so
you can't fit extra stuff around the
edges just because they're making useful
architecture of the rear people know
that does anybody have a magnetic ride
control on their current Corvette Oh
bubbly that's so this mag ride is the
same technology that we had as a
sentence but it's gotten even faster
basically describing magnetic ride is
like you have metal ion particles
floating in the fluid stream under shock
useless and that reacts from
electromagnetic charge to either loosen
or tighten your dampers so here in track
mode it's very firm Malati rule if
you're in a touring mode is thirty soft
and conservative you get a really nice
dampening over bumps same technology on
board here too what we've done from an
engineering standpoint we've added an
accelerometer one accelerometers in each
of the four shots so we now have the
ability to send me the electric signal
from the shock to the computers
you had twice the speed so the
suspension is still reacting a thousand
times a second
but we're able to read that signal at
twice the speed now so it's the same
tack that we had in the z7 with the mag
drive is just even faster reacting times
now and that's not only that official
protractor use but also for daily
driving as well that reacts attraction
if a wheel goes to a pothole the
suspension crack and we act fast
understands it's lowering and loosen the
camber of time to help cushion that low
that's pretty cool pretty cool stuff
two more things we'll talk about there
we'll open up the floor to questions and
answer back up c-51 pact $5,000 in the
season if you want to put on this
package you get six things number one is
the Aero fit this chin splitter on the
front of the vehicle here the rear deck
spoiler you're looking at there those
are exclusive to z51 and only non z51
back you can't get those the standalone
options is right now you get bigger
brake rotors the only badging on the car
that says z51 is going to be on your
brake calipers you also get an
electronic limited slip differential a
lower than axle ratio the acceleration
is really crucial now you're getting to
two 1603 and also your dual mode
performance sport exhaust which you also
get an added intercooler rear mounting
the vehicle for add transmission
that's what we're getting receive
everyone just in order to get magnetic
ride control suspension you have to be
bitten one that's a new activate thing
so it's almost two grandmas 1895 for a
bad guy
five grands of c-51 switch over you're
looking roughly right around $7,000
they've got to go the last future
feature we'll talk about in the
hydraulic front lift anybody excited
about that everyone that's important bet
it's time to spray pick it up and spin
bounce this up so I got the front lifts
on board 1,500 bucks
that is a option not included on
anything will be available the 2lt for
yelling basically here's how the system
works say you're going to target for
example there's a speedboat you approach
the speed bump you depress the button
races the car two inches in to 2.8
seconds you drive over the speed bump
you press it again it lowers the car the
vehicle then asks you on the in -
infotainment system if you want it to
remember that exact chain of commands
you've been it yes it stains it and it
remembers 1,000 locations for the rest
of your life if there's more bet it will
raise and lower itself over those
obstacles that you save into just the
front end not the rear the rear
stationary
it's a twin front spindle hydraulic lift
on the dome
the only downside of that is if you're
using it or traffic racing if you have
hydraulic front lift you'd lose your
adjustability in the front shocks so you
can't lower the front of the car or
raise the cart if you have hydraulic
front lift that's the only really
downside I'm really only affects me if
you're going to track and really want to
ration it
Benson is going to be standard coilovers
down so to honor the days of the blonde
lift or bed leaf springs in the rear you
adjustable coilovers all four corners so
when we have the fe3 met before or
magnetic ride control suspension you can
take off the wheels to manually adjust
it up or down even on the base trim work
that basically takes to the whole
everything that's going on or the CFO's
any questions specific there's no manual
transmission do you want to know there
is we don't offer it does share
fasteners and here's the actual reason
why so we have a center of tunnel
architecture here not a cop chassis so
most of the structural integrity of our
frame here is based off that compressed
aluminum brace of the center to get a
manual
and you would have to puncture the
center beam get the linkages down and it
would actually reduce our overall
structural stability on the floor you
start to envision the other reason is
when you build a mid-engine our cabin
years moved 16.5 inches further forward
in the vehicle your feet are right near
the press wheel bells it's pretty tight
to get three metals in there unless you
have a very tiny baby but that's really
those are the two engineering type what
we didn't know the other reason is our
direct competitors don't also offer
anything other than what it's arranged
across by the way the two cars that we
were to benchmark the side by side
against which is pretty exciting to talk
about the Ferrari 458 spider honey
mclaren 570s those competitors yes tires
Oh disappearance after disappearance
that's all just cosmetic don't ya mean
yeah he was asking the machine link on
the car splash metallic give these
photos medals of the little nuns line
it's just appearance anybody seen the
picture the sad horrible depressing
picture of the blue test you it was
horrible news because we've lost the
Corvette was a prototype the good news
was actually held up definitely well in
that accident so they kinda need the
scene you do have a very dense in front
of the bastard rough price and you still
still do that powerful the crumple zones
up in the front as well even though the
interest rate is behind you I never
heard Apollo
sixty-forty weights of each gear ratio
don't have that yet it is a lower gear
ratio with 61 compared to non I just
don't have the engineering diagnostic so
yeah what the actress approaches yeah I
was told commands very Department those
at the lower range I don't know you want
to keep stack there's really the biggest
difference
not if you can gain five horsepower five
for the dark secret is awesome but it's
really the axial ratio I distinct
retirement that are really good move
tires one last thing folks then we'll
let you know about asking more questions
if you get c-51 you are also set up with
your own beginning the Michelin Pilot
level or NASA summer opening performance
tire and we have here if you go non z51
you're getting the Michelin of all
season tires three season they're good
for year-round use temperature
regulation on these tires and forty
degrees
no lower any of you guys that have some
gets cold you're losing a lot of
traction on ice skates a year-round tire
don't mind you over there in the corner
that's rated for up to negative 20 so
you can drive your Corvette three
seasons and no problem both tires don't
it sports car head designer an engineer
tap doctor said when we built the c7 we
could only incremental II improve its
performance based off of the c6 and as
part of that only came down to the tires
that we use so we'd reached the pinnacle
of what we could accomplish with a front
engine sports car
thus the c8 was born now for starters it
is a much bigger sports car than the c7
this vehicles almost 6 inches longer and
2.2 inches wider than are not going to
c7 it might not look at just due to the
different dynamics but it has a much
more sizable footprint and there was
definitely reason for that we're gonna
start our walk around here at the front
guys you want to sneak around to the
nose they want to see everything we're
talking about as we go around kind of
describe the architectures that play
here this is one of the leanest sports
cars we've ever built and by leading I
mean every body panel is stretched as
tightly as possible over the underlying
mechanical components we're gonna start
at the front here and work our way back
first of all knit ends in the course
60/40 weight distribution 60 in the rear
40 in the front and the big question
when you design a mid-engine sports car
is what are you going to do with the
chassis there are two schools of
thoughts you either build a tough
chassis or a Center Tunnel rail chassis
this is centered tunnel rail
architecture the benefit to that is we
were able to increase our structural
rigidity by 10 percent and that opens up
a lot of space on the sides of the
vehicle for running coolant and
electronics coolant is where we're going
to start so the biggest haen't
dispersers onboard the vehicle are just
here on the front of your headlights if
you crunch down with me here folks
you'll notice that they actually extend
and past the cutaway
in the front grille see two huge
radiators on either side of nose those
are going to be a primary engine
radiators these circular ducts here cut
into the carbon flash metallic front
fascia are active those are your front
brake cooling ducts so everything in the
front of the architecture of the vehicle
that's why we're setting a little wider
everything was designed to fit disperses
around don't have to worry about
overheating but somewhat that's some of
the biggest in terms that people have
mid-engine sports cars and everything
that we design started there than worked
our way back so we also have two trucks
on board the front trunk which we fondly
called me from you'll hear that just
click twice we'll get into that in one
sec this is the front pretty deep almost
complete deep air you can fit one rigid
hardshell airline overhead bin bag or a
lot of soft luggage soft luggage is
definitely a friend here two or three
duffel bags will fit in there you've
three mechanical components writing in
the nose of you down under this
ventilated flap here you have your
battery and all of your electronics we
have brake fluid and this is a huge
story for us here this is the first time
we've ever offered break by wire breaks
we're calling it a boost is anybody here
own a c7 Corvette and you see seven
others a couple hands up all right on
your c7 is depending how you guys have
it equipped you can adjust your throttle
response your suspension and your
exhaust you can do all that on the ca
and morale you know it boosts brakes
onboard letting you digitally tune and
adjust your brakes as you go so within
the pre the four preset settings tracked
sport touring and weather not only does
it adjust as we just said suspension
exhaust throttle but even the feeling
you're getting from your brake that
adjusts the amount of resistance or
getting on a penalty
family agents so you're really you're
driving settings to better fit your
daily needs or your wants both for track
use and just around town the other
mechanical component up here is your
washer fluid to triple charge in the
winter that goes straight through the
auxilary port right here on the left
hand side you don't even have to touch
the actual battery anymore we add that
on the c7 as well and of course you have
an escape latch up here in the front for
a very small child or very small human I
don't know who could get trapped in
there but it's there by federal law so
we're glad we have safety features on
board as well that kind of takes to the
front of the car again just to reiterate
he dispersed except of the nose brake
duct cutaways battery under the nose
brakes under the nose brake by wire
system boost and your wiper fluid now in
order to get more active downforce on
the car we had to spelt this extensively
and do a lot of wind tunnel testing
benefits and also sort of one step back
when we get to that the angle you see
here of the front hood and the
windshield or the most sloped and
aggressive that we've ever had on a car
basically because the heaviest part of
the vehicles know the rear at sixty we
had to find a way to keep air pressing
the nodes into the ground at speed the
architecture on the design that you see
here does exactly that downside was with
a filler sweat so far back it decreased
a little bit of visibility but it was a
pretty easy fix most people don't even
notice this it's kind of my favorite
parking feature the passenger side rear
view mirror here actually sticks out two
inches further from the vehicle than the
drivers
I don't know if anyone knows most people
don't notice till we mention it but it
is two inches wider basically the only
reason for that is with the eight
pillars so swept-back when you look over
from your driving position with the two
inches further out you get the same
visibility on both sides looking down
the sides of the vehicle you notice we
have two huge air intakes on either
sides everything is fully functional on
this vehicle and everything serves a
specific purpose on the passenger side
here in this intake you'll notice you
have a huge that is going to be a
primary transmission coolant that is
your radiator for your transmission on
the end on the driver's side that Bay is
hollow
that is a doing three different
functions technically this is where your
engine breathes on the site welcome
welcome good look really those very
engine breathe your air intake and
that's you there it also divert sin to
three different ducts midway back that
panel you have a fan driven he dispersed
there for active air we'll get to that
one exactly and also your rear brake
duct cooling on the driver's side now
we're going to get into the interior
really quickly you're looking at the
three LT this is the highest of the
three trim levels we can offer really
what you're paying for with the three LT
is a level of craftsmanship we haven't
offered before to the core bezel
everything is either leather or suede
that is it there's very little plastic
in the interior well I'm excited I don't
know one else you know that's a big deal
for us here at Corvette so what what
you're paying for with the 3 LT
everything from the dashboard up is
suede 8 pillars be pillars roof even a
removable target --top' all is suede
everything down is an apple equality
leather grain
- doors seats center console only
plastic in the interior but you can't
actually touch when you're sitting in
the car is going to be your wireless
cell phone charger
rapping behind you in the center someone
someone pointed out earlier yes is that
upside down wine bottle holder doesn't
know it doesn't look suspiciously like
it would be but we don't encourage that
kind of behavior here in Chevy it is
just your cell phone charger the 2lt
trim level by proxy is also fully loaded
digitally and mechanically you're just
not getting the leather and suede
everywhere so on 2lt are getting all the
digital goodies you're getting the two
cameras in the front
side blind-zone alert on the side rear
cross-traffic alert on the rear dual
rear cameras heads-up display
performance data reporter those fourteen
speaker performance audio system all
that stuff comes even seats ventilated
seats everything like that is fully
loaded on the 2lt so again - LT has
everything digital mechanical three LT
just adds more leather and suede
1lt the lowest term level starting under
sixty thousand is pretty basic in terms
of digital content but you get a really
fast car for the money it's pretty
incredible what we've been able to do
for the price we're mentioning this
earlier we were benchmarked against two
specific vehicles the Ferrari 458 spider
and the mclaren 570s those are the cars
that we were built side-by-side with we
outperform them both and are a fraction
of the cost so that's why you see crowds
like this everywhere we go it's a pretty
amazing feat that they were able in
Jupiter in the rear of the car going to
go to the engine bay here now like so
this gets back they activate this first
why don't you build a mid-engine sports
car he's getting rid of the heat that's
pretty important you'll notice here we
had six perforated grates on the back of
the engine bay and also a cantilever
heads you can check out the screen right
there if you can
in front of the car this glass is not
sealed that's a cantilever glass edge
basically they it's the principle for
convection heat rises so natural heat is
escaping to the roof we also have twin
fans on either side of the car pushing a
hot air out of the engine bay so in the
rear fascia back here between the
exhaust pipes will notice all this
perforated black mesh as actually
sucking hot air out of the engine bay
immediately out of the car so a lot of
people wonder how was the heat and noise
in the cabin it's not nearly as bad as
you think these are very well insulated
the design theory behind this is
engineers never allowed to accumulate in
the engine itself naturally over-the-top
or being forced out the back of the
vehicle so it's never sitting in there
being able to affect a temperature cabin
or rear trunk temperature as well the
big question with the grates a lot of
people are very concerned about water
what happens if it rains the answer is
yes water can get in this water will get
it that is totally fine the engine has
been engineered for that you have a four
tiered dock system back here two ducks
on the furthest side of the trunk there
and two circular drains up front there
also some on the bottom of the anti base
so everything if water gets in to
immediately whisked right out of the
engine bay outside of the people it's
just important to remember you can't
bring this part through a car wash I
know ninety percent before bringing the
Corvette the ricotta wash anyways and
tip my hat to you guys but with most
mid-engine sports car
because carwash you have to wash it by
can hand washing is absolutely totally
fine brand-new engine brand-new
transmission and all new magnetic ride
control gen for a suspension you're
looking at a small block naturally
aspirated American v8 6.2 liters of 495
horsepower 470 pounds of torque here the
60 under 3 seconds
so you're never gonna be late for
anything that's the good news you can
leave right after the meeting is started
and somehow get there on time
it's only went and although it is a 6 -
same as our outgoing lt1 it was not one
shared part between this whole car other
than the only shared part is your
interior door latch that is it
everything else on the vehicle has been
- spoke built brand new mag Drive just
before can adjust itself a thousand
times a second to digitally tuned the
suspension to the two year or any road
conditions you might find yourself in
and we have a brand new transmission as
an 8-speed dual-clutch transaxle built
by Tremec in conjunction with General
Motors this first six pairs are pretty
tightly spaced so taking you right in
the middle of your power bandwidth for
performance driving the 7th and 8th care
of her knee widely spaced apart for
efficient
it's basically how the transmission is
geared it can go for the z51 performance
package which this vehicle does have you
have a lower axle ratio the rear getting
easier to keep under three seconds so
that basically takes us through the
phonons into play here we'll talk about
see if you want really quick really
quickly z51 package gives you six things
exclusively on the outside of the car
you're getting this chin splitter under
the front clearance of 5.1 inches not
including this chin splitter you're
getting the rear spoiler on the backbone
that was her only c-51 you can't get
that rear spoiler to the front and
splitter outside the z51 package is
tempered options yet you're getting
bigger brake rotors on board the only
place on board the vehicle set see if
you want to send me on your brake
calipers you're getting an electronic
limited slip differential in the rear
lower axle ratios dual mode performance
exhaust and also an additive cooling
radiator for the transmission that's
basically what you get for the z51 for
five thousand dollars it's a lot of
content and it's very useful and
practical retracting use the other thing
with c-51 these tires are the Michelin
Pilot cut 4s summer only performance
tires sticking your tires that are
protracted performance
getting those automatically with c-51 it
can get non z51 they're getting all
season tires which are going to be back
there in the back corner Michelin All
Seasons rated for up to negative 20
temperature these guys here are ready
over for an increase in temperature so
if you're looking for an all year-round
driver would recommend it one but it's
all personal drivers folks that takes us
to the bulk of the architecture to your
place reducing any questions please ask
way will be to follow the 80s with
humane yes size the interior with the
biggest gentleman we've had fit in this
cabin with six foot six in a race helmet
on Ted over the roof you get a lot more
length in the cabin not a lot one with
it's not a lot wider than this
assessment is a long longer toddler
gentlemen are having a much easier time
getting in an MSRP is at six right
here's eighty four thousand two hundred
dollars
