Sherwood Park Chevrolet:

Hello and welcome to another video walkaround
by myself Dakota down here at Sherwood Park
Chevrolet. Today we are going to be taking
a look at this absolutely stunning 2016 Chevrolet
Silverado 3500 LTZ. This truck has been custom
built by a team of our performance specialists
right here at Sherwood Park Chev. They have
added a variety of outstanding features which
includes a BDS 6.5 inch lift and a 3 inch
body lift. We also have Buckwacker fender
flares which are designed to withstand the
elements. Made from a durable material that
is tough and flexible enough to resist damage.
We have as well gap guards to hide the gap
between body and frame. Which also keeps out
dirt, mud, and water from entering the engine
compartment. We have these absolutely massive
40 inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires with 22
inch Fuel Full Blown Wheels. These tires are
so big that we have also done a tire size
re-calibration so the speedometer does display
the accurate speed of this vehicle. We have
also ICI Magnum step boards to assist you
in and out of this vehicle. And there are
also Bulletproof mud flaps which are also
made out of an outstanding durable material.
Alright well there are a ton of features on
the inside so if you'll join me I'll show
you them now. Helping you into this 2016 Chevrolet
Silverado 3500 is this handy dandy key with
key fob. So we have of course the lock, unlock,
remote start, and panic button. Pressing unlock
once to unlock your drivers door, twice to
unlock all your doors. And coming on into
the door we have power options for our windows
mirrors, and locks, as well as the memory
buttons for our power seats. Coming on down
extra storage there on the bottom. As well
as our Bose premium sound system which is
going to give you outstanding sound all throughout
this vehicle. Coming on into the interior
we have these absolutely stunning leather
front bucket seats which are 8 way power adjustable
including two way power lumbar support. Tilt
and telescopic steering. As well as the controls
for our trailer, four-wheel drive, and automatic
head lights. Having started her up for you
guys, we can see here, this is a brand new
vehicle so there are only 54 kilometers on
the odometer. There is a compass, we are facing
South. And just using this button, these buttons,
here on the steering wheel. There are a couple
of trips, your fuel range, oil life, fuel
economy, fuel filter life, diesel exhaust
fluid level, and right there back to the beginning.
There are some other settings here for our
audio, so Sirius and other radio options.
Your phone connectivity, navigation, and some
various other setting you can set yourself.
And coming to this absolutely gorgeous leather
wrapped steering wheel we have cruise control
settings here on the left. As well as heated
steering so it's going to keep your hands
nice and toasty during the winter months.
We have as well adaptive cruise control. Over
here on the right we have volume settings
which are just back here. As well as all our
other audio settings. Pressing this button
once does mute the audio. And pressing this
button does activate the voice control. "Say
a command or say help". Cancel. "Speech session
ended". There are a variety of technological
features that this vehicle does have which
includes, a colour touch screen that comes
equipped with SiriusXM Satellite radio as
well as AM and FM radio. We have the various
other settings as well. Navigation which is
absolutely wonderful, you'll never get lost
on your next road trip. There is once again
that phone connectivity. Coming on down, CD
player, dual front zone climate control. You
can have your temperature set to whatever
you want, your passenger can have whatever
they want, you both are going to have a very
comfortable ride. Both of you have, as well
heated and ventilated seats. So no matter
the weather, you are going to have a very
comfortable ride. Here we have the buttons
for, adjustable pedals, traction control,
box light, park assist, lane departure warning.
Which is absolutely wonderful so if you do
start to drift out of your lane you do get
that alert so it keeps you in a safe situation.
Hill decline, and exhaust brake. Under here
two 12 volt outlets, two USB ports, and an
AC power outlet. More storage, two cupholders
here. On here if you do have a smart phone
that is equipped with this feature, there
is a wireless phone charging pad here. So
like I said, if you have a smart phone that
comes with that, you can put your phone on
here and you don't need any cables you don't
need anything else, your phone is going to
charge. Absolutely fantastic and handy to
have. Additional storage in this arm rest
here. Two additional USB ports, and AUX input,
and a 12 volt outlet on that side. Dual locking
glovebox, tons of room in there. And coming
up to the top we have a tilt and sliding sunroof.
So on gorgeous days like today you can have
that open, let the sunshine in. Let a little
bit of a breeze through. Or if you're not
feeling too too sunny you can have that closed.
That shade will give you the necessary cover.
And just using this button, in the rearview
mirror you can see that there is that control
for that rear window. And just throwing her
into reverse, finally our last feature, we
have a back up camera, that does have those
guidelines that do respond to the steering.
So you're never going to have to worry about
parking this beast. You will have all the
visibility that you will need. Alright well
that's about it for the features up here in
the front, but there are plenty in the back
so if you'll join me I'll show you them now.
Coming into the back you'll notice storage
on the door. As well as plenty of space back
here for you're passengers. We have a 60/40
split folding rear bench which I will demonstrate
to you in a minute. On the back of driver
and passengers seats we have map holders.
As well as additional storage on the back
of that center console and an additional 12
volt outlet. We have rear reading lights,
and if I were tall enough and graceful enough
I could fold down that center, but there is
a cupholder in there. If you are not wanting
to have that third person there. Folding up
the 60/40 is as simple as that, giving you
a ton of versatility for cargo and passengers.
Of course all the child safety locks, and
anchor that you will need. I mentioned that
this truck has a lift on it. I don't know
if you can truly appreciate how massive this
truck is but I'm 5 foot 3 and I don't even
come up to the top of this box back here.
So this truck is absolutely massive. We have
a spray in bedliner to prevent your box from
getting any scratches in it. And of course
your trailer hitch receiver. There is a spare
tire mounted underneath there. You can see
all the work that's been done underneath.
If you are looking for a truck that is going
to turn heads this is absolutely the one you
want. You definitely are going to get more
than a second glance when you show up in this
massive truck. Once again the back seat, and
coming on into the front. But you don't have
to take my word for it, you can come on down
tho Sherwood Park Chev yourself and take this
gorgeous truck for a test drive. We are just
a click or call away. I want to thank you
guys once again for watching my videos. Please
don't forget to subscribe, you'll get notifications
when I do new videos just like this one. Thanks
and have a great day.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado | Who's the Boss? | TestDriveNow

2019 Chevrolet Silverado | Who's the Boss? | TestDriveNow

Steve Hammes New Car Reviews:

There’s never been a better time if you’re
in the market for off-road pickup truck.
Available in a wide range of sizes and prices
there something out there to fit just about
every need.
And now Chevy is providing their own version
of go anywhere power with the all new Silverado
Trail boss.
So here’s the Silverado primer: the box
holds more, thanks to a widening of the bed
floor by nearly 7”.
The use of mixed metals and advanced manufacturing
processes has cut weight – 450 pounds to
be exact.
And the V8 uses a new version of cylinder
deactivation that can shut down any number
of pots to optimize fuel economy.
This all-new Silverado is also bigger in virtually
every measure than the outgoing model, including
an additional 3” in cab length producing
enormous rear seat legroom.
Plus, it offers the most cargo volume on the
market regardless of bed size.
One of Chevy’s goals was to create 8 distinct
models, each with a unique personality.
They’re divided into three trim levels:
High Value, High Volume and High Feature.
This new LT Trail Boss is positioned at the
top of the High Volume grouping and pairs
a 2” suspension lift with the Z71 Off Road
Package – now with a real badge of its own.
That means this truck clears nearly 11”and
includes an automatic locking rear differential,
skid plates, Rancho shocks and 18” wheels
with Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.
If you can’t recognize a Trail Boss by its
2” lift, just look for these red recovery
hooks up front; they’re the only Silverados
that get them.
These off-road assist steps are an $895 option
but don’t skip them; most people are going
to need them to climb on in.
And though they’re built tough we still
removed them before hitting the trail.
Out here, with mud, deep water, rocks and
shale, the Trail Boss always felt invincible.
Just as it is on-road, the suspension does
a heroic job of keeping the occupants in a
quiet cocoon free of excessive jounce and
head sway.
The Goodyears have an insatiable appetite
for abuse and the push button 4-wheel drive
system with a full automatic mode makes transfer
case changes easy.
Even up this very steep and slippery hill,
the Silverado never felt anything but boss.
And the hill decent control is the quietest
such system I’ve ever tested.
These expansive all-weather floor liners with
the Z71 logo are the perfect match for a muddy
day of 4-wheeling.
Driving the Trail Boss in its native habitat
just feels right.
On this all-new Silverado, Chevy has created
an industry-first trailering label they place
right here on the driver’s side door jamb.
It helps owners properly calculate their truck’s
specific capacities.
12,100 pounds max towing is aided by the optional
Advanced Trailering Package, with Hitch Guidance
built into the backup cam and a trailer tire
pressure and temperature monitoring system.
But does it have the super easy Pro Trailer
Backup Assist that Ford has?
No.
No doubt that this is one of the most impressive
trucks I’ve ever driven.
With this Silverado, GM has really reclaimed
its leadership role in the driving department.
More so than ever before, this truck drives
with the precision, fluidity and smoothness
of a luxury sedan…and that’s in a Trail
Boss model!
Most impressive are the steering and braking
systems – no truck-like mushiness or slop
– just dialed-in control.
Now as trucks become a one-vehicle solution,
Chevy has really delivered with this do-it-all
Silverado.
Its 2 biggest downsides are 1) its miserable
fuel economy and 2) the chore involved with
parking it.
But this Trail Boss really hits the sweet
spot of on-road, off-road, features and pricing.
It is a very impressive truck.
The 355 horsepower 5.3-liter V8 produces 383
pound feet of torque and matches beautifully
to the 8-speed automatic which includes a
Sport mode.
It’s quick, it sounds good and it includes
auto stop-start to help save gas.
But for the week, I haven’t been able to
get out of the 14s even though it’s rated
at 15mpg city/20mpg highway.
There is a lower level Trail Boss model called
the Custom that comes standard with a V6 if
these numbers scare you.
This is the huge backseat Crew Cab bodystyle
with the short bed but other Trail Boss configurations
are available.
Pricing for this LT model starts at about
$50,000.
Of course mine is loaded with options like
the leather with storage package, adding these
hidden compartments and underfloor stuff it
spaces, a great sounding Bose stereo with
HD radio, GM’s stellar infotainment with
all of the modern connectivity features, a
high level of safety electronics, and a spray
on bedliner for the stronger box with tougher
tie downs, power outlet, LED lighting, and
bigger corner steps.
It also offers the convenience of a power
tailgate…pretty cool.
Heated seats, heated steering wheel, super
quiet and exceedingly on-road friendly, the
Trail Boss is right on target.
Just keep in mind that these knobby tires
do chatter a bit on pavement.
$56,790 is where this one lands and that seems
like a very fair price.
Power folding mirrors and a power passenger
seat are really the only things I miss.
Now, keep in mind that the new Ram and updated
F-150 are also excellent pickups so this is
really one of those rare instances in life
where you can’t lose.
But even in a crowd, the Trail Boss rises
above.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado the Best Silverado Ever? | First Drive | Edmunds

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado the Best Silverado Ever? | First Drive | Edmunds

Edmunds:

TRAVIS LANGNESS:
Welcome to Wyoming.
I'm Travis Langness
for Edmunds.com,
and this is the all-new
2019 Chevrolet Silverado.
Basically, it's redesigned from
the ground up, from the frame,
to the body, to the powertrains.
It's bigger.
It's longer.
It's wider.
But we want to know if it's
the best Silverado Chevy's ever
made, so we're going to
take it out for a drive.

So we're in the
mountains in Wyoming
and we're driving around
in the new Silverado 1500.
And really, this feels
like an updated Silverado.
It doesn't feel
completely redesigned.
It feels really familiar.
So what's changed
about the Silverado?
The frame is built using
different materials.
It's a longer wheelbase.
It's longer from nose to
tail by almost two inches.
Pretty much all of the towing
improvements across the board
for the Silverado
come from the fact
that the truck is
450 pounds lighter
than the previous generation.
Now, that's coming
from differences
in steel, the aluminum hood,
aluminum tailgate, aluminum
doors, differences in
the strength of steel
in the chassis.
They took 80 pounds out
of the frame, another
80 pounds out of the
bed of the truck,
so instead of one
stamping, they've
used three different
pieces, which
also makes the bed of the truck
as much as seven inches wider
in the bed.
And also, you're looking
at the first up and down
power tailgate in
any full-size truck.
Kind of a no-brainer
on trucks these days.
Everybody's using a
power lift gate in SUVs.
Why haven't we
done it on a truck?
Under the hood is
the 5.3 liter V8.
Now, people from the last
generation Silverado,
if you own one of those, you'll
think, oh, so same engine.
Well, yes and no.
There is a 5.3 available with
the old six-speed automatic
transmission, but
the one we're driving
has the new
eight-speed automatic.
And it's the updated version
of that 5.3 liter V8.
So basically, what you get is
a different fuel management
system that Chevy says
will increase fuel economy.
And it-- for my
butt [? dyno-- ?]
hasn't changed the way the truck
drives much, which is good.
Gives you good power uphill,
gives you a good burst
as you're going
to pass somebody.
But what has changed
with the eight-speed
is it's quiet in here.
There's several
other power trains.
So you can get a diesel.
You can get the base V6.
You can get this V8 or
the six-speed transmission
with the older version of the
V8, different fuel management.
And you can get the 6.2 liter,
as well as that turbo four
cylinder.
If you don't need as much
towing or hauling capability,
that turbo four cylinder,
that may be the motor for you.
For me, I'd probably go
with the 5.3 or the 6.2.
They feel a little bit better,
have a little bit more thrust.
We don't have the
optional 22-inch wheels
on this truck, which
is absolutely something
I would avoid, because with
the standard wheel and tire
package, ride comfort's
great in this.
These seats are not the
high-end leather seats.
They're cloth, and
they feel great.
Going up a mountain road,
they feel just fine.
The split heating
function works great.
And really, if you're going to
go on a 1600 mile road trip,
tow a trailer, and take
your family on vacation,
this is an easy place to do it.
Also, this center
console comes up.
Take it up real quick, so
you can have a third person
up front sitting here.
Chevy did say that
the drag has changed.
As their dynamics
have gotten better,
drag has decreased with
the front end redesign.
And that's a small marginal
increase in fuel economy,
along with what will probably
be marginal increases
from the eight-speed automatic.
This one is, I believe,
19 MPG combined
with the 5.3 and
the eight-speed.
Along these roads-- they're
not perfect, obviously,
these aren't highly maintained
city roads-- the Silverado
feels really good.
It's not a bouncy ride quality.
Big sharp impacts aren't
really making their way
into the cabin.
Everything feels pretty
well-insulated from underneath,
especially when you've
got a good amount of tire
sidewall, which this truck has.
There's not a lot of body roll.
If you're worried about ride
quality on a pickup truck,
this one is doing just fine.

So this is the interior
of the new Silverado.
It's not so much a redesign
as much as it is an evolution.
For starters, we'll go with
this big monolith of a center
console.
This is just one giant piece.
It's not as high-content
as it could be.
We're in kind of a mid
trim level, something
that's a little bit
more typical for buyers.
And basically, you've got
auto stop start function.
You can put the
tailgate down here.
Traction control.
A nice little button that
puts all four windows down
at the same time.
There's a couple
of buttons missing.
There are some things that we
could have on this interior.
There's no plug here, but
on the higher trim levels
you do get that full
three-prong plug.
We've got one
USBC, one USB port.
It's got Apple
CarPlay, Android Auto.
And it's got a really
crisp look to it.
This one is the same size
as the previous generation,
but it's a little
bit nicer looking.
It's a little bit crisper.
Graphics, it's
really easy to read.
You've got the swipe from
one side, swipe to the other.
You can control most of
the stuff happening here.
The steering wheel
is much the same.
The TFT, the center
driver display here,
is a little bit better,
and everything is easier
to see at a moment's
glance when you're
looking down from the road.
Super helpful when
you're towing or hauling
and you just want to
spot your temperature
or spot your oil pressure.
It's definitely a good display.
And then Chevy has moved
over here some of the stuff
that you use for towing,
to the left of the driver.
There's a little
toggle here that you
can change between
sport mode or they've
got a little dynamic
racecar flag, and tow mode--
changes the shift
schedules, things like that.
Then you've got the
selector between
two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
You've got the terrain
selector to tell the truck
if you want hill descent control
if you're on rock or sand.
Then you've got the
controls for the lights,
and most of the
stuff over there.
And pretty much,
this is what you
get inside the interior
of all the Silverados,
and it's a really
intuitive layout.
It's not fancy.
It's a lot of new stuff, but not
a completely different design
that you have to get
used to something new.
Now, with that said,
this mid-level content
does have some plastic
materials that aren't awesome,
but really the touch points,
those things are good.
They feel sturdy.
One of the nice things
that GM has, Chevy as well,
is these split
level seat heating.
So you can heat just your back,
or your back and your butt.
Heating just your back is
perfect for long road trips.
Anybody with back pain
should demand this feature
be put in every car.
It makes the seating so
much more comfortable.
It's fantastic.
Overall, this interior
is a likeable place,
and definitely somewhere
I can see myself sitting
for a long time on a road trip.
So now we're in the
backseat of the Silverado
and it's huge back here.
There is an additional three
inches of rear leg room.
The truck itself is only 1.7
inches longer, nose to tail,
but they put a lot of that,
and then some, into the rear.
So four adults can sit totally
comfortably, probably a fifth,
maybe even a sixth when
you get that third seat up
in the front.
But if you've got
four six-footers,
there's tons of space
back here for everybody.
And it's pretty simple,
pretty standard back here.
A couple of USB ports, couple
of vents, which is nice.
Keeps the air flowing back here.
These seats are similarly firm
to the center seat up front.
But it's a 60/40
split back here.
And it's really easy
to fold these up.
So this one just
quick up, quick down.
There's no straps to pull on.
No handles.
And then also, there's some
pretty cool features back here.
This is typical, the center
console with the cup holders,
not new in any way.
But then this side seat
opens up and you have access
to behind the seat.
And the seat materials are
similarly nice to the front,
that same checkerboard pattern.
Pretty flat across the
bottom and the back.
There's not a lot of
bolstering back here,
but the cushioning is good.
This angle's not too bad.
It'd be nice if it were a
little bit further slanted back,
but it's decent for a road trip.

So we've spent all day driving
the new 2019 Silverado.
And basically, what
we've discovered
is that Chevy has taken a good
product and made it better.
This new truck is more capable.
It's more quiet on the inside.
There's more space
in the back seat.
You can tow more.
And there's that
wide array of engines
that we talked about,
which will make
it more economical and better
towing in the long run.
It generally feels
like a good refresh,
but they've added some
good updates to it.
But if you're
asking the question
is it the best Silverado that
Chevy has ever made, well sure,
but only by a small margin.

GM Lied To The Public And To Trump About Where Chevrolet Cruze Sedans Sold In The USA Are Assembled

GM Lied To The Public And To Trump About Where Chevrolet Cruze Sedans Sold In The USA Are Assembled

Trump Breaking News Network:

GM Lied To The Public And To Trump About Where
Chevrolet Cruze Sedans Sold In The USA Are
Assembled.
by Tyler Durden.
On Tuesday, president-elect Trump tweeted
about General Motors, stating the GM was building
its Chevrolet Cruze in Mexico, importing them
to the US tax-free, and selling them at US
car dealers:
GM quickly denied Trumps tweet, and in
a press release that same day, the company
claimed that all Cruze sedans sold in the
US are built in GMs assembly plant in
Lordstown, Ohio, and that GM builds the
Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico,
with only a small percentage being sold in
the US..
and the MSM and other liberal outlets were
quick to pounce on GMs statement, using
it to slander the president-elect.
US News, ABC News, and many others, including
the Wall Street Journal, all published articles
containing the information in GMs press
release.
US News went out of its way to post a clickbait
headline which alluded to the truth
about Trumps tweet, with the following
quotation:
General Motors Company (ticker: GM) is pushing
back after President-elect Donald Trump early-morning
Twitter attack, in which the incoming president
took aim at GM for making its Chevrolet Cruze
in Mexico and shipping them tax-free to the
U.S. for sale.
Thats not the full story, says GM.
General Motors manufacturers the Chevrolet
Cruze sedan in Lordstown, Ohio, a General
Motos spokesman told U.S. News & World Report
in a statement Tuesday.
All Chevrolet Cruze sedans sold in the
U.S. are built in GMs assembly plant in
Lordstown, Ohio.
GM says it also builds the Cruze hatchback
in Mexico to sell in global markets, and only
a small number of those are sold in
the U.S.
It did not clarify the number.
The hatchback model went on sale in the U.S.
for the first time this fall.
Of course, the liberal think-tanks like Politifact,
ThinkProgress, GOOD, Addicting Info, Salon
(whom I refuse to link to), and countless
others got in on the act.
Addicting Info in particular went out of its
way to imply that Trump was wrong, and dangerously
so:
But as a result of Trumps accusations and
threats General Motors stock price tumbled
briefly and then recovered.
Keep in mind that General Motors was nearly
wiped out of existence at the beginning of
the Great Recession, which would have cost
thousands of Americans their jobs.
Trumps attack on General Motors could have
harmed the company in a way that would have
harmed American workers he the stock price
fallen more than it did.
Trump just flat-out lied to the American people
and got busted for it by General Motors.
Next time Trump decides to attack an American
company he should do his homework first and
then look in the mirror because his company
has most of their products manufactured in
China and Mexico, which make Trump the biggest
hypocrite in America.
It appears that in the MSMs rush to fact-check
Trump and call him hypocritical, no media
outlet bothered to fact-check GM as well.
So, who did the fact-checking work that the
MSM didnt bother doing?
Auto enthusiast and Twitter user E.W. Niedermeyer,
thats who.
Niedermeyer brought the GM and Trump saga
up on Thursday, January 5th in a series of
tweets that began innocently enough
Niedermeyer quickly got to the nitty-gritty
of his argument, noting the the VIN sequence
(3G1) used at the beginning of GM cars made
in Mexico
and finally, Niedermeyer provided evidence
on where the autos sold in the US were built:
Think about that for a second GM is selling
Cruze sedans manufactured in Mexico, in the
same Ohio town that builds Cruze sedans.
And at the same time, GM is brazen enough
to say it doesnt sell Cruze sedans built
in Mexico in the US, saying all Cruze sedans
in US dealerships are built in its Lordstown,
Ohio plant.
And GM did so in the face of the president-elect
of the United States accusing the company
of building Cruze sedans in Mexico, shipping
them to America tax-free, and selling them
in your local dealerships.
Niedermeyers entire tweet thread can be
viewed here.
Neidermeyer provides ample evidence demonstrating
the truth about where GM Cruze sedans sold
in the US are built.
Feel free to check the VIN numbers on your
local Chevy dealers Cruze inventory, and
see where they were built for yourself.
GM was caught red-handed lying to the public
and to Trump, and we might never have known
if it werent for everyday people like Niedermeyer.
It is crazy enough to wrap your head around;
a regular guy did the fact checking the MSM
never bothered to do.
The MSM took GMs word as gospel in their
rush to criticize Trump, without bothering
to check if GM was just lying to save its
own skin.
If you think GM is somehow more credible than
Trump, recall that this isnt exactly the
first time the auto maker has been caught
lying.
In fact, they have been caught lying again,
and again, and again.
Sometimes their lies result in people losing
their lives.
They have been caught lying so many times,
it would be impossible to list them all here.
But the MSM gleefully took GM at their word,
using any chance it could get to refer to
the president-elect as a dangerous, reckless
liar, when a simple fact-check has shown GM
was falsifying the truth, not Trump.
Allow this revelation to resonate in your
head for a second, and keep it in the back
of your mind next time the mainstream media
tells you Trump is a dangerous liar and/or
hypocrite in his latest tweet.
Because you just might be the fact-checker
that gets the last laugh, right alongside
Trump himself.
As a quick follow-up, The Daily Caller is
reporting that GM effectively confirmed the
analysis above.
But don't worry because all of the imports
in 2016 were just a 1x thing to "supplement
the launch of the Cruze" at it's Ohio plant.

NEW 19-20 Silverado Torxe X1 Bumpers

NEW 19-20 Silverado Torxe X1 Bumpers

CARiD:

Hey everyone, Greg here from CARiD.com and welcome back to the shop!
And today I want to showcase the all-new Torxe X1 series Full Width Heavy-Duty Front and Rear bumpers for the redesigned 2019 and 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500.
Now, in my opinion, this new truck is the best Silverado yet, with its upgraded styling, tech, more engine choices, and a bigger bed.
But if you are upgrading one of these trucks for serious off-roading, you’re going to want a set of these bumpers, because they check off all the boxes.
Thick, heavy gauge steel construction, mounts for off-road lights, and, of course, killer looks that put the factory bumpers to shame.
Now, taste is subjective, but if you want an aggressive look, it’s obvious how much of an appearance upgrade the X1 bumpers are over the plain jane OE bumpers.
The chiseled angular design will give your truck a rugged, dynamic presence that says it’s ready for the toughest trails out there.
These bumpers are constructed from heavy-gauge steel, making them much beefier than the OE bumpers.
And they also have the strength to protect your truck and ward off rocks and tree limbs out on the trail.
And to complete the look and ensure durability, Torxe coated them in a textured black powder coat finish,
that’s going to be tough enough to withstand scrapes and damage without succumbing a metal to corrosion.
Now, these are full width bumpers, so you will get plenty of protection,
but the bumper ends are also angled upward, so you still get better approach and departure angle clearance, compared to the OE bumpers.
In a front you get a bit more room for your tires to bite when you’re climbing up an obstacle and out back,
there’s less of a chance of getting hung up or losing traction when you are coming down off an obstacle.
The rear bumper also has a center step and corner steps for easy bed access,
as well as cutouts for license plate mounting, license plate lights, and for the trailer wiring plug.
Now, in my opinion, off-road lights are a necessity for safely navigating dark wooded trails and unfamiliar back roads,
and they should be standard on any well setup truck.
So, any off-road bumper worth its weight better have off-road light mounts.
Now, there are many bumpers with provisions to mount lights on the exterior of the bumper,
but this Torxe X1 was designed so the lights are actually housed within the bumper, for a cleaner integrated appearance, and also to help protect the lights from any damage.
Now, the front bumper features a center opening for a 20-inch single or double row LED light bar, and there are also recesses at each end for a pair of LED cube lights.
And for the rear bumper, there are also recesses to mount a pair of LED cube lights which can really come in handy when you’re hitching up a trailer in the dark.
So now that we have all the great features of these bumpers covered, let’s touch on the actual installation.
And the great news is both bumpers bolt right to the factory mounting locations, so there are no modifications necessary to install them.
You can get a set of these bumpers installed on your truck in just a Saturday afternoon using only basic hand tools, and everything you need is included in the kit.
It’s simply just a matter of removing the factory bumpers, bolting the new Torxe bumper directly to the factory mounts.
Than installing the auxiliary lighting of your choice and running the wiring, and that is it!
But like most off road bumpers, guys, these things are heavy!
So like I always suggest, get a buddy to help, because they can be a handful trying to install them alone.
Well guys, that’s going to wrap up my review today of the front and rear Torxe X1 Full Width Heavy-Duty Bumpers for the 2019 and 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500.
So, if you want to upgrade your truck with awesome, aggressive looks and serious off-road capability,
head on over to CARiD.com right now and check out these Torxe bumpers for yourself.
And hey, while you’re there, browse through our extensive inventory and check out the slew of other great Torxe parts and accessories.
And as always, I’m Greg from CARiD.com, and I’ll see you next time!

The 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc Z Budget Build Part 1 - Detroit Muscle S3, E1

POWERNATION:

(ANNOUNCER)>> TODAY ON
DETROIT MUSCLE WE START A
BRAND NEW BOTTOM DOLLAR
PROJECT THAT'LL TAKE A
TIRED '80'S ICON AND SHOW
YOU HOW TO GET SOME GO
FAST OUT OF IT.
(TOMMY)>> HEY FOLKS,
THANKS FOR JOINING US.
NOW WE'VE JUST ABOUT GOT
OUR OLD MOPAR, PROJECT
ULTRA VIOLET, ALL DIALED
IN AND READY TO TAKE IT
ON ITS MAIDEN VOYAGE.
SO WE'RE GONNA GO AHEAD AND
START US ANOTHER PROJECT.
AND LUCKILY FOR US
SHE JUST SHOWED UP.
[ SLIDING DOOR CLOSING ]
(MARC)>> NOW WE DECIDED TO
TAKE A CRACK AT A BUDGET
BUILD, AND WHEN IT COMES
TO BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IT
DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER
THAN A PROJECT LIKE THIS,
A 1986 IROC-Z.
(TOMMY)>> THESE WERE THE
CREAM OF THE CROP WHEN IT
CAME TO THIRD GEN CAMAROS.
THEY WERE BASICALLY A
Z-28 WITH AN UPGRADED
SUSPENSION SETUP,
UNIQUE BADGING...
[ ENGINE STARTS ]
(TOMMY)>> ...AND A 190
HORSEPOWER TUNED PORT
INJECTED 305 SMALL BLOCK.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THAT
WAS QUITE A BIT OF
POWER FOR THE TIME.
(MARC)>> AND WITH ORIGINAL
MUSCLE ERA CARS GETTING
MORE RARE AND MORE PRICEY,
ONE OF THESE '80'S ERA
PONY CARS IS A GREAT
PLACE TO START IF YOU'RE
WORKING WITH A BUDGET.
THERE ARE A GAZILLION
PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THESE
CARS, AND THEY ALREADY
HANDLED AND STOPPED WAY
BETTER THAN ANYTHING MADE
IN THE '60'S OR '70'S.
OH AND ANOTHER BONUS,
SHE'S GOT T-TOPS.
(TOMMY)>> WE'RE GONNA
BE WORKING ON A $10,000
DOLLAR BUDGET, AND
THAT'S GONNA INCLUDE
PURCHASING THE CAR.
NOW WE SPENT $3,000 ON
IT, SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE
TO STRETCH THAT OTHER
$7,000 AS FAR AS WE CAN.
NOW WE ARE GONNA BE
REFURBISHING A FEW ITEMS,
AND THEN WE'LL SIMPLY
REPLACE A FEW OTHERS.
FIRST THING WE'RE
GONNA DO IS START
IN ON THAT ENGINE.
(MARC)>> YEAH AFTER
DIGGING AROUND A LITTLE
BIT, WE FIGURED OUT THAT
THIS IS AN F-C-T CODED
SMALL BLOCK, WHICH MEANS
AT SOME POINT IN THE THIS
CAR'S LIFE SOMEONE,
PROBABLY A HIGH SCHOOL
KIT, BLEW UP THE
ORIGINAL 305.
NOW THIS BLOCK'S OUT OF
A 1984 CHEVY C-10 PICK UP
TRUCK, BUT THE TOP END'S
ALL IROC, RIGHT DOWN TO
THE TUNED PORT INJECTION.
(TOMMY)>> FIRST ORDER OF
BUSINESS, WE'RE GONNA TAKE
US A FIELD TRIP DOWN TO
ENGINE POWER AND SET THIS
THING ON THE CHASSIS
DYNO SO THAT WE CAN
SET US A BASELINE.
YOU READY BIG GUY?
(MARC)>> I THINK SO,
AND I BROUGHT ALONG SOME
FASHION ACCESSORIES.
SO MAYBE I'LL FIT IN A
LITTLE BETTER WITH THE CAR.
(TOMMY)>> THIS BEING AN
IROC AND ALL, IT HONESTLY
FEELS LIKE WE'RE LIVING
IN AN '80'S ROCK VIDEO.
SO WHY NOT EMBRACE
THAT CONCEPT.
(MARC)>> YEAH, ESPECIALLY
WHEN IT COMES TO THE HAIR.
[ ROCK MUSIC ]
(TOMMY)>> IT'S RAINING
AWESOMENESS BACK THERE.
[ ENGINE REVVING ]
(TOMMY)>> FIRST
PULL 151 HORSEPOWER.
(MARC)>> WHOO, HONESTLY
THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT
FOR THE WEAR AND TEAR ON
THIS 305, AND SHE'S
PRETTY CONSISTENT TOO.
(TOMMY)>> SEVEN-TENTHS
MORE OF ONE HORSEPOWER.
(MARC)>> ALRIGHT, I
THINK WE'VE GOT IT.
(TOMMY)>> RIGHT
AT A WHOOPING 152.
(MARC)>> 152!
(TOMMY)>> TELL
YOU WHAT CUZ!
(MARC)>> WELL 152
HORSEPOWER, THAT'S
NOT GONNA CUT IT.
NOW AS ICONIC AS THAT
IROC-Z MAY BE, THE 305
UNDER THE HOOD'S NEVER
REALLY BEEN KNOWN
TO BE A POWERHOUSE.
NOW JUST TO CHECK WE
WENT AHEAD AND DID A
COMPRESSION TEST
AND A COUPLE OF THE
CYLINDERS ARE DOWN.
SO INSTEAD OF JUST
THROWING OUR BUDGET AT THE
305, WHICH IS A LITTLE
SCARY, WE'RE GONNA JUST GO
AHEAD AND PULL IT OUT.
(TOMMY)>> IT'LL BE A LOT
EASIER TO WORK ONCE THE
COOLANT SYSTEM IS OUT OF
THE WAY, BUT WE'RE GONNA
KEEP IT TO BE
REUSED LATER ON.
(MARC)>> WELL WE COULD
TEAR DOWN OUR 305 AND
FRESHEN IT UP, WE COULD
EVEN THROW A STROKER KIT
AT IT, BUT THAT WOULD
REQUIRE SOME MACHINING AND
PURCHASE OF THE KIT.
AND WE'D STILL ONLY BE AT
ABOUT 330 CUBIC INCHES.
WHAT'S BETTER THAN
THAT, 350 CUBIC INCHES.
WE GOT THIS SHORT BLOCK
CHEVY RIGHT HERE, AND IT
IS A BIT USED BUT WE'RE
ALREADY GONNA BE ABOUT 45
CUBIC INCHES AHEAD.
NOW A LOT OF YOU GEARHEADS
AT HOME MIGHT HAVE
SOMETHING LIKE THIS LAYING
AROUND OR YOU KNOW SOMEONE
WHO DOES, LIKE WE DO.
WE WENT DOWN TO ENGINE
POWER AND PICKED THIS UP.
THIS IS FROM AN OLD
PROJECT OF THEIRS, AND
IT'S GOT SOME MILES ON IT
BUT THIS IS EXACTLY THE
KIND OF THING YOU
CAN FIND ONLINE FOR
ABOUT $500 DOLLARS.
SO JUST TO BE FAIR, WE'RE
GONNA THROW $500 DOLLARS
ON OUR BUDGET AND
ROLL WITH THIS.
THE FIRST THING WE'LL DO
IS GET THE TIMING COVER
OUT OF THE WAY TO
ALLOW ACCESS TO THE
TIMING SET AND CAM.
IT LOOKS LIKE THE ENGINE
POWER GUYS PUT A NICE
DOUBLE ROLLER ON HERE BUT
IT STILL NEEDS TO GO SO
THAT WE CAN
GET TO THE CAM.
(TOMMY)>> WE'RE NOT SURE
WHAT KIND OF GRIND THIS
CAM HAS, WHICH IS THE CASE
A LOT OF YOU WOULD RUN
INTO WHENEVER YOU
PICK UP A USED BLOCK.
SO WE'LL JUST GO
AHEAD AND PULL IT.
A BOLT PLACED INTO THE END
OF THE CRANKSHAFT MAKES IT
A LOT EASIER FOR
OUR PULLER TO
GET THIS GEAR OFF.
IT'S A NICE PART BUT WE
WANT TO MAKE SURE THE ONE
THAT WE USE MATCHES
THE PIECES WE'RE
GOING TO INSTALL.
(MARC)>> SOME SCOTT SHOP
TOWELS WILL BE A BIG HELP
IN KEEPING ANY DEBRIS
OUT OF THE INSIDE OF OUR
BLOCK, SINCE THE NEXT
STEP IS GOING TO
INVOLVE CLEANING IT UP.
WE'VE GOT TO SCRAPE OFF
SOME OLD SILICONE AND
GASKETS BECAUSE YOU HAVE
TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR NEW
ONES WILL GET A GOOD SEAL,
AS WELL AS ALLOWING THE
PARTS TO SEAT PROPERLY.
[ FILE SCRAPPING ]
[ COMPRESSED AIR BLOWING ]
(ANNOUNCER)>> AFTER THE
BREAK FIND OUT WHAT KIND
OF GOODIES ARE GONNA
PUT SOME PEP IN THE
STEP OF OUR IROC!
(TOMMY)>> ALRIGHT GUYS,
WE'VE GOT OUR ENGINE ALL
CLEANED UP AND WE'RE
READY TO START BOLTING ON
OUR GO FAST GOODIES.
NOW WE'VE GOT US A TOP END
KIT FROM TRICK FLOW THAT'S
GONNA GIVE THAT F-BODY
SOME GIDDY UP AND GO!
OUR KIT INCLUDES A SET
OF ONE POINT FIVE RATIO
ALUMINUM ROLLER ROCKERS,
A BILLET TIMING CHAIN, ALL
THE LIFTERS WE'RE GONNA
NEED, AND A BUMP STICK
THAT'S GONNA GIVE US
SOME PERFORMANCE AND
THAT SWEET SOUND.
THESE HEADS ARE THE BEST
PART OF OUR UPGRADE.
IT'S A SET OF ALUMINUM
TRICK FLOW 195'S.
THEY HAVE THE 62cc
CHAMBER, THE 202 AND 160
VALVES, AND THEY'RE REALLY
GONNA COMPLIMENT THAT
LITTLE SMALL BLOCK CHEVY.
TO TOP IT ALL OFF THIS
STREET BURNER ALUMINUM
DUAL PLANE INTAKE WITH
THAT OPEN AIR DESIGN
THAT'S GONNA HELP
KEEP YOUR FUEL
CHARGE A LITTLE COOLER.
(MARC)>> WHEN YOU'RE
INSTALLING A SET OF HEADS,
IT'S OF UPMOST IMPORTANCE
TO TORQUE THE HEAD BOLTS
TO THE PROPER POUNDAGE, AS
WELL AS FOLLOW THE TORQUE
SEQUENCE THAT THE
MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS.
THIS IS THE SEQUENCE
FOR THESE HEADS.
(TOMMY)>> THE CAM CAME
WITH A PACKET OF ASSEMBLY
LUBE, BUT IF YOUR CAM
DOESN'T YOU NEED TO MAKE
SURE THAT YOU GET
YOUR HANDS ON SOME.
IT STAYS ON THE PARTS FOR
THOSE FIRST FEW CRITICAL
MOMENTS WHEN YOUR ENGINE
IS INITIALLY FIRED.
ONE GOOD WAY TO DO IT
WITHOUT MESS IS TO LUBE
THE LOBES AND BEARINGS AS
IT GOES INTO THE ENGINE.
JUST BE SURE THAT YOU
DON'T USE SO MUCH OF IT
THAT YOU DON'T
HAVE ANY LEFT FOR
THE LAST FEW INCHES.
(MARC)>> NOW WE CAN
INSTALL THE CRANK GEAR
THAT CAME WITH OUR
TRICK FLOW TIMING SET.
USING A BRASS DRIFT ON
ALTERNATING SIDES IS A
GOOD WAY TO PREVENT
DAMAGING IT.
NOW FOR THE CAM
GEAR, WHICH IS A
LITTLE MORE COMPLEX.
NOW WHEN WE'RE INSTALLING
A TIMING SET ON A SMALL
BLOCK CHEVY LIKE THIS, WE
LIKE TO POINT THE TIMING
MARKS AT EACH OTHER, WHICH
IS THE EASIEST WAY TO MAKE
SURE YOU'RE NOT GONNA GET
THE CHAIN OFF BY A TOOTH.
BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER
WHEN YOU DO THIS, EVEN
THOUGH THE NUMBER ONE
CYLINDER IS AT THE TOP,
IT'S AT THE TOP OF THE
EXHAUST STROKE AND NOT
AT THE TOP OF THE
COMPRESSION STROKE.
SO ONCE WE GET THE TIMING
CHAIN ON, WE'RE GONNA TURN
THE CRANK SHAFT OVER ONE
FULL REVOLUTION TO BRING
THIS TIMING MARK TO
THE TOP AND GET US AT
TRUE TOP DEAD CENTER.
(TOMMY)>> LIKE HE SAID,
YOU'VE GOT TO MAKE SURE
THAT THE INDICATORS
ARE DEAD ON ONCE THE
CHAIN IS INSTALLED.
THEN WE CAN INSTALL
THE BUTTON AND IT
GETS CINCHED DOWN.
THE BUTTON ISN'T MANDATORY
BUT IT HELPS TO KEEP THE
CAM WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO
BE, AND THESE TABS KEEP
IT ALL LOCKED IN PLACE.
NOW IT CAN BE SPUN TO TRUE
TOP DEAD CENTER WITH THE
TIMING MARK POINTING
STRAIGHT UP.
(MARC)>> WE CAN GET THE
GASKET IN PLACE AND THEN
INSTALL OUR SHINY NEW
CHROME TIMING COVER.
IF YOU USE A POWER TOOL
LIKE THIS TO RUN THE BOLTS
IN BE SURE TO LEAVE THEM
A COUPLE OF TURNS OUT SO
THAT YOU CAN TORQUE THEM
TO THE PROPER AMOUNT.
WHILE WE'VE BEEN
INSTALLING OUR CAM SHAFT
AND TIMING SET, OUR
LIFTERS HERE HAVE BEEN
SOAKING IN SOME
CONVENTIONAL 30 WEIGHT OIL.
THE REASON WE DO THIS IS
BECAUSE THESE HYDRAULIC
LIFTERS NEED TO BE
PRE-SOAKED SO THEY'RE
PRIMED WHEN WE GET
THEM IN THE ENGINE.
AH!
(TOMMY)>> THE HEADS COME
WITH A-R-P STUDS AND WE'LL
USE SOME A-R-P FASTENER
LUBRICANT ON THE THREADS
AS WELL AS SOME ROYAL
PURPLE ASSEMBLY LUBE
ON THE PUSH RODS
AND VALVE STEMS.
THEN THE ROCKERS CAN
BE LAID INTO PLACE.
WE'LL TIGHTEN THE
NUTS DOWN UNTIL
WE HIT RESISTANCE.
(MARC)>> NOW WE'RE
GETTING READY TO ADJUST
OUR ROCKER ARMS.
NOW SINCE THESE ARE
HYDRAULIC LIFTERS WE HAVE
TO ADJUST THESE
TO ZERO LASH.
WHICH MEANS THERE'S GONNA
BE NO SPACE, NO PLAY IN
BETWEEN THE ROCKER
AND THE VALVE STEM.
THE BEST WAY TO DO THIS
IS WHEN THE EXHAUST VALVE
BEGINS TO OPEN, WE ADJUST
THE INTAKE SIDE, AND THEN
WHEN THE INTAKE SIDE
BEGINS TO CLOSE THAT'S
WHEN YOU ADJUST
THE EXHAUST SIDE.
OKAY FIRST THE INTAKE.
TURN IT UNTIL YOU BEGIN
TO FEEL RESISTANCE,
THEN GRAB YOUR WRENCH.
WE'LL TAKE IT DOWN A HALF
TURN, THEN JUST A LITTLE
FARTHER WITH THE SET
SCREW TO KEEP IT IN PLACE.
THEN WE NEED TO SPIN
THE ENGINE UNTIL THE
INTAKE STARTS TO CLOSE.
THEN WE'LL JUMP ON THE
EXHAUST SIDE ROCKER.
IT'S THE SAME
PROCEDURE ON ALL THE
REST OF THE ROCKERS.
(ANNOUNCER)>> STICK AROUND
AND UNCOVER OUR BUDGET
HORSEPOWER SECRET!
(MARC)>> HEY GUYS, WHILE
YOU WERE GONE WE WENT
AHEAD AND INSTALLED SOME
NEW VALVE COVERS, NEW
WATER PUMP, REINSTALLED
THE BALANCER AND THE OIL
PAN, AND SWITCHED OVER TO
THIS ACCEL VACUUM ADVANCE
H-E-I DISTRIBUTOR THAT WE
GOT FROM SUMMIT RACING.
THE REASON WE HAD TO DO
THAT IS BECAUSE WHEN WE
GOT RID OF OUR E-F-I
SYSTEM WE GOT RID OF THE
DISTRIBUTOR THAT WAS
ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED
AND SWITCHED OVER TO
THIS VACUUM ADVANCE.
NOW IF YOU GUYS REMEMBER
WE ROTATED THE CRANK SHAFT
OVER ONE FULL REVOLUTION
BRINGING US UP TO
TRUE TOP DEAD CENTER.
WE HAVE THE ROTOR POINTED
AT CYLINDER NUMBER ONE,
MADE A MARK RIGHT HERE.
WE'RE GONNA LINE IT UP
AND THAT'S WHERE WE'LL
PUT THE NUMBER ONE WIRE.
(TOMMY)>> ONE GREAT THING
ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR
ENGINE SWAP IS THAT SINCE
IT'S JUST ANOTHER SMALL
BLOCK CHEVY, IT WILL
PLUG RIGHT INTO THE
HOLE WITHOUT ANY
MODIFICATION TO THE
MOUNTS OR TRANSMISSION.
WE HAD TO PULL THE VALVE
COVERS TO KEEP THEM FROM
GETTING SCARRED UP.
BUT IF THAT'S THE WORST
THING WE HAVE TO DEAL
WITH, WE'RE IN
PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.
WHILE YOU GUYS WASN'T
LOOKING WE WENT AHEAD AND
BUTTONED UP THE BELT
DRIVES AND THE COOLING
SYSTEM ON OUR IROC, AND
NOW WE'RE GONNA MOVE
ON TO THE FUEL SYSTEM.
NOW ORIGINALLY THIS CAR
CAME WITH FUEL INJECTION
BUT NOW IT'S GONNA BE
RUNNING A 600 HOLLEY.
ONE OF THE ISSUES WITH
CONVERTING IT OVER
TO THE CARBURETOR
IS THE FUEL SUPPLY.
THE PUMP THAT'S
IN THIS CAR MAKES
TOO MUCH PRESSURE.
SO WE'LL JUST SIMPLY DIAL
IT BACK USING A REGULATOR.
(MARC)>> BUT BEFORE WE
PUT THE CARB ON WE'VE GOT
SOMETHING EXTRA JUICY
TO BOLT ON FIRST.
NOW THAT EXTRA JOLT WE'RE
TALKING ABOUT IS GONNA
COME FROM THIS SNIPER
NITROUS KIT FROM N-O-S.
IT'S GONNA ADD UP TO 150
EXTRA HORSEPOWER ON TOP OF
WHAT OUR 350'S GONNA
PRODUCE, AND THAT'S GOOD
FOR US BECAUSE WE'RE ON A
BUDGET, AND WHEN IT COMES
TO POWER ADDERS, YOU'RE
NOT GONNA FIND MUCH BETTER
BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
THANK A NITROUS KIT.
NOW THIS IS A PLATE STYLE
SYSTEM, WHICH UTILIZES
THIS INJECTOR PLATE AND IT
BOLTS BETWEEN THE CARB AND
THE INTAKE, AND IT
ALSO COMES WITH ALL THE
PLUMBING TO HOOK IT UP.
THESE JETS THAT COME WITH
THE KIT WILL GIVE US AN
EXTRA 100, 125, OR 150
HORSEPOWER DEPENDING ON
WHICH PAIR WE USE.
AND OF COURSE IT COMES
WITH ALL THE ELECTRICAL
COMPONENTS TO
ARM THE SYSTEM.
NOW WE WENT AHEAD AND
ASSEMBLED OUR PLATE
WITH THE SOLENOIDS.
AND THEN WE PUT THE JETS
IN THERE FOR THE 100 SHOT
BECAUSE WE WANTED TO BE
A LITTLE CONSERVATIVE,
AT LEAST FOR NOW.
I'M GONNA MAKE SURE THIS
PLATE GOES WITH N-O-S SIDE
POINTING UP, AND WE CAN
PUT OUR GASKET ON FOR THE
CARB, DROP ON OUR HOLLEY
CARB, AND LOCK IT DOWN.
WE'LL USE THESE ADAPTERS
ON THE STOCK FUEL LINES
AND MOUNT OUR REGULATOR
ON THE WHEEL WELL.
[ DRILL SPINNING ]
(MARC)>> WE MADE A COUPLE
OF HOSES THAT WILL TIE THE
FEED AND RETURN LINES TO IT.
SO WE'LL PLUG
THOSE IN AS WELL.
BE SURE TO USE THE PROPER
ANODIZED LINE WRENCH IF
YOU'RE UTILIZING
A-N FITTINGS.
THEN WE CAN TIE IN THE
LINES TO THE SOLENOID AND
THE CARB BECAUSE IT'S
A WET NITROUS SYSTEM,
MEANING THAT IT SPRAYS
MORE GAS AS WELL
AS THE NITROUS OXIDE.
WE'LL THEN HOOK UP OUR
NITROUS LINE AND GET OUR
BOTTLE STOWED IN
THE BACK OF THE CAR.
(TOMMY)>> NOW WE'RE
GETTING TO THE END OF THE
ROAD WHEN IT COMES
TO OUR INSTALL HERE.
THE NEXT THING
WE'RE GONNA DO IS
FINISH UP THE WIRING.
THE FIRST THING THAT YOU
WOULD NORMALLY DO IS MOUNT
YOU A BIG GNARLY
SWITCH INSIDE THE
COCKPIT SOMEWHERE.
THAN THING WILL
ENERGIZED THE SYSTEM.
AND THEN THE NEXT THING
YOU WOULD WANT TO DO IS
WIRE UP THIS MICRO SWITCH.
WHAT IT DOES, IT ACTUALLY
ENERGIZES THOSE SOLENOIDS
AND MAKES EVERYTHING
GET HAPPY.
THIS MICRO SWITCH IS
ACTUALLY PRETTY SIMPLE.
WHEN THE THROTTLE GETS
PUNCHED ALL THE WAY UP IT
PUSHES ON THE SWITCH AND
CLOSES THE CIRCUIT, WHICH
THEN SPRAYS OUR
GO-GO JUICE.
(ANNOUNCER)>> UP
NEXT IT'S DYNO TIME!
[ ENGINE REVVING ]
(TOMMY)>> WE'VE GOT OUR
350 PLUGGED INTO OUR
LITTLE YELLOW IROC AND
SHE'S READY TO GO BACK
ON THE OLD DYNO DOWN
IN ENGINE POWER.
(MARC)>> YOU
READY TO DO THIS?
(TOMMY)>> YEAH I'M
OUT OF THE WAY.
(MARC)>> ALRIGHT, YOU
MIGHT WANT TO STAND BACK.
[ ENGINE REVVING ]
(TOMMY)>> 227.
(MARC)>> SAY THAT AGAIN.
(TOMMY)>> 227.
(MARC)>> 227?
(TOMMY)>> 227, YEAH OUR
FIRST PULL, OUR POWER
NUMBER WASN'T THAT
IMPRESSIVE BUT AFTER
OUR UPGRADES
DRASTIC IMPROVEMENT.
(MARC)>> WE'RE NOT
TRYING TO LAY DOWN EARTH
SHATTERING NUMBERS WITH
THIS BUDGET SMALL BLOCK,
BUT WE'RE ALREADY QUITE
A BIT AHEAD OF WHERE WE
STARTED, AND SHE'S
LOOKING REALLY
CONSISTENT WITH THE PULLS.
IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE
ABOUT 75 HORSEPOWER.
(TOMMY)>> ALRIGHT GUYS,
WE'RE GONNA PULL A LITTLE
BIT OF TIMING OUT OF THIS
THING, AND PRETTY MUCH A
RULE OF THUMB IS TWO
DEGREES PER 50 SHOT.
AND THE REASON YOU'D WANT
TO DO THAT IS BECAUSE
PULLING THE TIMING OUT OF
IT, IT REDUCES THE CHANCES
OF DETONATION BECAUSE
WHENEVER YOU SPRAY IN THAT
NITROUS, THIS INCREASES
THE CYLINDER PRESSURE.
ANOTHER THING THAT YOU'D
WANT TO DO IS PUT IN A
COOLER SET OF PLUG, AND WE
WENT AHEAD AND DONE THAT
WHENEVER WE WERE
DOING THE INSTALL.
(MARC)>> WITH OUR 100 SHOT
OF NITROUS WE'RE PULLING
FOUR DEGREES OF BASE
TIMING OUT, PUTTING IT
RIGHT AT FOUR DEGREES.
LITTLE BIT, LITTLE
BIT, RIGHT THERE.
ALRIGHT, HERE WE GO!
(TOMMY)>> LET ME
STEP OUT OF THE WAY.
UH OH!
(MARC)>> IT DIDN'T
LIKE THAT DID IT.
(TOMMY)>> I'LL BET IT
AIN'T GOT NO GAS IN IT!
[ ENGINE REVVING ]
(TOMMY)>> ONCE WE MANAGED
TO FIND A CAN OF GAS, IT'S
TIME FOR A MOTOR ONLY RUN
WITH THAT TIMING PULLED
OUT JUST TO MAKE SURE
IT STILL LIKES IT.
[ ENGINE REVVING ]
(MARC)>> 220, YEAH THAT'S
WHAT IT MADE BEFORE.
ALRIGHT, SO WE'RE
ALL FINISHED WITH
OUR ALL MOTOR RUNS.
SO WE'RE GONNA GO AHEAD
AND ARM THE SYSTEM HERE,
TRY THE NITROUS.
[ ENGINE REVVING ]
(MARC)>> SHE PULLS A LOT
HARDER WITH THE SPRAY,
PUTTING IT RIGHT AT
294 HORSEPOWER, AND 351
FOOT POUNDS OF TORQUE.
OKAY WELL WE MANAGED TO
PUT A LOT MORE PEP IN THE
STEP OF THIS IROC,
AND WE'RE GONNA STAY
CONSERVATIVE ON THINGS
LIKE THE TUNE, THE TIMING,
AND THE NITROUS BECAUSE
THIS IS A BUDGET BUILD AND
WE DON'T WANT TO FIND
THE NEXT WEAKEST LINK.
(TOMMY)>> FURTHER DOWN
THE ROAD YOU NEVER KNOW.
WE MAY END UP THROWING
THE SPURS TO HER JUST
A LITTLE BIT MORE.
BUT HEY, EVEN ERRING ON
THE SIDE OF CAUTION WE
STILL MANAGED TO
DOUBLE THE POWER THAT
WE STARTED WITH.
AND WITH ABOUT $3,500
BUCKS MORE TO SPEND
THERE'S STILL A LOT
MORE ROOM TO MAKE ON THE
IMPROVEMENTS OF THE
SUSPENSION AND THE INTERIOR.
