VW Polo Vivo vs. Chev Aveo | Auto Pedigree Review

VW Polo Vivo vs. Chev Aveo | Auto Pedigree Review

Auto Pedigree:

Welcome to the Auto Pedigree video
showroom.
Right now it's the VW Polo Vivo versus the Chev Aveo.
The VW Polo Vivo
is a South African favourite.
In fact its biggest competition is its newer cousin the Polo.
So can the Aveo take it on?
The Polo Vivo is based on VW's previous generation Polo
so the styling isn't exactly bang up to date.
But both the Vivo and the Aveo have
a fun, friendly design
that doesn't lookout of place in the city.
Inside both the cars have a layout that's fairly easy to use
but that's exactly where the polo starts to
pull ahead slightly lightly
because of the overall feeling here that's a bit more upmarket
add to that it also has a longer list of standard features.
It also has four airbags compared to the Chev's two airbags
but both cars have power steering, aircon,
front electric windows and electric
mirrors as well
And thanks to Auto Pedigree's 116-point
quality check,
you know both these cars are in great shape.
Both cars have really good space.
They may be classified as smaller sedans
but there's plenty of room here.
Rear passengers especially get good head and shoulder room
and it's the Polo that's the champ when it comes to brute space.
With 80 litres more than the Aveo.
For the driver though the most important aspect is what it's like on the road
and this is where the Aveo has a slight advantage.
One of the bigger differences between the two is that the
Chev has a 1600 petrol motor
as opposed to the Polo's 1400.
So obviously the Aveo has a bit of a power advantage -
77 kilowatts as opposed to 63.
But the automatic gearbox in either car
makes for a much easier drive in traffic.
The Polo Vivo gets a 6-speed auto while the Aveo makes do with a four-speed.
Fuel consumption for both cars is around 7 litres per hundred kays.
So the Polo Vivo has slightly more load
space and a more modern interior
but the Aveo has more power.
Both these cars have a lot to offer
and with Auto Pedigree's 30-day exchange program
you can buy with confidence knowing that
you'll get the right car for you.

2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ Turbo Review / Test Drive = MPGomatic

2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ Turbo Review / Test Drive = MPGomatic

MPGomatic:

MPG-o-Matic 2012 Chevrolet Sonic
Turbo Review Summary: What
a difference a year makes. While the outgoing
Chevy Aveo ranked at the bottom of all the
cars we’ve tested over the years, the 2012
Sonic LTZ Turbo has muscled its way into the
top of the sub-compact class. The sleeping
giant has awakened. While the Sonic Turbo
might not be the golden egg - nor a beautiful
swan - it’s surely a blast to drive and
American-built, to boot.
Hi, I’m Dan Gray for MPGomatic.com and this
is a Chevy Sonic LTZ Turbo.
Available as a four-door sedan and five-door
hatchback, the 2012 Chevy Sonic can be equipped
with either a naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter
or a turbocharged 1.4-liter four cylinder
engine.
The turbo 1.4-liter produces 138 HP and 148
foot pounds of torque and is paired with a
six-speed manual transmission
The official fuel economy estimates for the
turbocharged 1.4-liter 2012 Chevy Sonic are
29 city / 40 highway MPG. The standard 1.8-liter
Sonic is rated at 25 city / 35 highway with
the six-speed automatic transmission and 26
city / 35 highway with the five-speed manual.
We covered well over 500 miles in our six-speed
manual Inferno Orange five-door Sonic LTZ
Turbo review unit and had no problem meeting
the official mileage estimates, achieving
a average of 41.5 MPG on the Interstate highway
and 34.3 MPG combined in temperatures that
ranged from the high-forties through the seventies.
Leave the line a bit too hot, and the turbo
four will provoke plenty of wheelspin.
The monochrome LCD Driver Information Center
provides trip computer functions, an Average
Fuel Economy display, and an upshift light.
We’d like to see a real-time fuel economy
display, added to next year’s model.
The improvement over the outgoing Aveo is
like night and day. It isn’t just that the
Sonic rides and handles well ... it’s genuinely
fun to toss about, whether darting through
city traffic or out in twisties.
Chevy describes the Sonic’s design as being
motorcycle-inspired and that’s clearly evident
in the unique dashboard arrangement. The Sonic
LZ’s interior features a leather-wrapped
steering wheel with audio controls, leatherette
seating surfaces and one-level front seat
heating. The driver’s bucket seat offers
four-way manual adjustment.
A dual glovebox arrangement includes USB input
and audio line-in ports in the upper glovebox,
with provisions to either route the cable
out, or store the phone or media player within.
Bluetooth is standard, with phonebook downloads
to the head unit. The six-speaker sound system
includes XM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth
audio streaming. iPod support is well done,
with full access to playlists, albums, and
artists. Three months of XM Radio and GM’s
OnStar service are standard.
The single 12-volt outlet is located between
the front bucket seats.
The Sonic hatchback’s second row seats allow
38.1 inches of headroom and 34.6 inches of
leg room. The four-door sedan provides slightly
less headroom (37.8 inches).
The five-door Sonic provide 19 cubic feet
of storage with the rear seat up, and 30.7
cubic feet of storage with the 60/40 seat
folded down.
Wish List: The Sonic lacks adjustable lumbar
support.
All-in-all, the 2012 Chevy Sonic doesn’t
just win the most-improved award, it’s muscled
its way into the top of the sub-compact class
alongside the Fiesta and Fit. While there’s
room for improvement when it comes to fuel
economy, there’s never been a tiny Chevy
as fun to toss about, nor as well outfitted.
The Aveo is dead. Long live the Sonic.

Hi I'm Bill jackson with cars dot com
we're here with the redesigned Chevrolet
Aveo
5 hatchback it compared to what the
growing market with the Honda Fit Nissan
Versa and Toyota Yaris
last year the city and got redesigned
this here
it was the hatchback stern as part of
the redesign it got Chevy sort of
traditional New
split girl with the large 7 logo in the
middle and it has a short overhangs as
part of the redesign is that this answer
from the front of the tire to the bumper
it gives it's sort of a stubby look
overall but I don't really mind that
hatchback
again this is Chevrolet's
entry-level cars that are looking for
wood trim or fancy leather interior
you can get that but not on this model
which is just one step up from the base
model
got a manual transmission a manual mir's
should not see that every day an overall
it's what you'd expect a lot of plastic
personally I don't think it's that bad
for an entry-level car but it does have
to be said that other cars such as the
Honda Fit
and the Nissan Versa our little nicer on
the inside than they have a 05
again you have a lot of headroom I which
is nice for small hatchback but one
thing and are set to drive this car for
a while as I could never get the sea
quite where I wanted it especially for
my legs I'm road all the way back and
it's still a little more been there that
I like
that mean generally makes a 106 for
sparse here are going to win any races
but it's pretty good for my legit
estimated to get 27 miles per gallon
City
34 highway that's about what I got in a
week's worth the drive in
about one thing though it you really
want to get the help manual transmission
and Germany automatic
it's pretty slow and you really have to
think about how you gonna pass emerge
mister happy with the manual
transmission but it's just a little more
fun to drive
like I said its hatchback and for such a
small card is actually pretty fair
amount of cargo
room here there I was able to restore
the groceries if they're pretty easily
I know our test model second at fifteen
thousand dollars in for that you get a
car that takes you from here to there
but not much else for additional
information on this car or any other
gotta cars dot com on our blog kicking
tires
