2017 Chevrolet Spark Review | Features Rundown | Edmunds

2017 Chevrolet Spark Review | Features Rundown | Edmunds

Edmunds:

BRYN MACKINNON: I'm Bryn
MacKinnon from Edmunds,
and this is an Edmund's expert
rundown of the 2017 Chevrolet
Spark.
Whether you're looking
for your first car,
or you're just looking for
something small and agile
to motor around town in,
the 2017 Chevrolet Spark
is worth a look.
The Spark was just
redesigned last year
so there aren't any
changes for 2017.
Right up front,
it's worth noting
that the Spark is one of the
slowest cars in its class.
If you're looking
for something peppy,
this probably isn't
the ride for you.
Despite that lack of power, this
is a pretty good subcompact car
with some nice available tech
and impressive fuel economy.
The Spark is rated by the
EPA at an impressive 41 miles
per gallon on the highway.
And if you're driving the
Spark in a crowded city,
the small exterior
dimensions will definitely
help you squeeze into
tight parking spots.
That size means it's
tight on the inside
though, with limited hip and
shoulder room, both up front
and in the back seat.
Legroom and headroom
in the back suffer too.
So four adults will have
a hard time squeezing in.
The trunk isn't
very large either,
even by class standards.
It should be enough for at
least one or two suitcases,
but for big road trips you
might need to fall down
one of the rear seats.
Bottom line with
the 2017 Spark is
that you're looking at
a low-cost hatchback
with a few nice
available tech amenities,
but it's not that
impressive out on the road.
Rivals like the Honda Fit,
Hyundai Accent, and Ford Fiesta
are worth checking out before
you make your final choice.

Auto Pedigree:

2016 Chevrolet Spark - First Look

2016 Chevrolet Spark - First Look

Cars.com:

if you're looking for a small urban run
about the chevrolet spark has been a
possibility for a few years now but
Chevy is redesigned its global small car
we're here at the Auto Show with the
second generation of the spark let's see
if it is as electrifying as its name
suggests this park is still a very small
car overall height actually is down a
little bit versus the prior generation
and wheelbase has been increased a
little tiny bit for more cabin room
definitely a sweeping redesign that
affects the front most clearly much more
of a grown-up look here now we've seen
aspects of hyundai toyota even a little
bit of Volkswagen up here but definitely
a better look overall for this spark
versus its predecessor which had a
little bit of an insect-like bug-eyed
appearance the redesigned interior of
the spark features a big center stack it
really kind of features prominently in
the center part of this dashboard a
7-inch my link that several days
multimedia system touch screen here is
standard now includes a backup camera as
well now overall materials as you'd
expect for kind of an entry-level car
they're fairly basic but it's kind of a
nice interesting texture on the dash
doesn't make it seem too shiny gives
kind of a muted tone and there's some
creative use of colors inside the car
you get some painted panels here like
you did in the old spark that can sort
of add some vibrancy around you on space
now there's a nice holiday out area here
below the center stack that actually
allows you need to kind of spill into so
it's not too bad they're looking out the
back here we're head restraints nest in
the seats like they used to
that clears up space very well right
behind you but again like the old spark
still door handles in the back of the
rear doors and make those c-pillar seem
a little bit thick
hertsmere over-the-shoulder blind-spot
visibility and also find the backseat
adequate in terms of space but if you're
planning on loading up on cargo often
you're going to want to find a bigger
hatchback there's just not a ton of
space behind the seats and folding them
down is a process that really sucks you
gotta totally seats forward first and
then get the head restraints down up
there up and then put these cushions
down and if you really want to get the
seat all the way down you gotta come and
move
the front seats forward a little bit
score enough clearance here then gets
this forward and move the seat all the
way down it was a mess in the prior
generation of the spark it remains one
here the big question for any small car
is fuel economy we've heard that highway
gas mileage on the chevy spark this is
from Chevy officials should be right
around 40 miles per gallon or so but
finally PA numbers and that
all-important combined figure still to
be determined so stay tuned to cars.com
for more news on that closer to the

Sleeping in My Wicked Camper Car

Sleeping in My Wicked Camper Car

Tony Florida:

What's up guys. I got another one for you.
Today we're going to be looking at my
yellow car camper.
But before we do this
let's drive back to where I am parking
and well sleeping tonight.
Wrong side.
Can't forget this.
So I'm in Tasmania. Tasmania is part of
Australia. I've been here for a little over a week now
and tonight is my last night in Tasmania.
Tomorrow I'm going to Melbourne. But enough
about that we got enough sunlight left
out there for me to show you guys why I am so
excited about this car. So I guess we'll
start up front here as you can see
everything looks pretty norma.l We got
the driver's seat on the right hand side.
We're in Australia so that's okay.
Passenger seat on the left, but where
things get really interesting is when we
go to the back seats.
In back here you
guys will notice that there is actually
no back seats. It's just, just some wood.
So what good is a car that can only sit
two people up front here and nobody in
the back? Well let me show you. So this,
this box that I'm sitting on is actually
storage and right now it's the end of my
trip, but right now we have a little bit of
food down here and pots, pans, plates, and
bowls.
Let's check this out from around back.
I think it'll be a little bit easier.
Alright, so back here, like I was saying,
we have this box, and the primary purpose
for this box is storage. Now this car
camper does not have nearly as many
features as the camper van that I rented
a couple weeks ago in Australia. I'll
link that in the description below so
you guys can check that out if you
missed it. Anyway, there is no running
water, but for that I have my CamelBak.
There is no stove, but for that I have
this portable gas stove. And finally
there is no refrigerator, but for that
you have an ice cooler.
So that's all fine and dandy, but where the heck do I
sleep? And that is the coolest part of
this car. I was very skeptical at first,
but I'm really glad I stuck with it, and
let me, lemme just show you. Step number
one is to remove these headrests.
Just like that. And then step number two is to
put these seats all the way down, and I
mean all the way down. So we have
something that looks like this. And let
me just say this would be a lot easier
to film but I lost the, the thing that
screws into the bottom of your camera
for the Gorillapod. So I have to do this
all handheld without this extension or
this tripod, so bear with me. Next thing
we wanna do is move these seats all the
way up. And this one too.
You guys see where we're going with this?
And then up top here is where the
surprise is hiding.
So what do we have up here?
Well looks like some more wood and a pad.
To be specific, we have two of these little
like t-shaped two-by-fours, a pad, a red
pad, and this foldable—oops, not anymore I broke it.
But two pieces of plywood.
And so with the seat all the way
down like we had from earlier, we but
these two pieces of plywood right along
here. There's these little latches.
Let me show you the latches. So this is the little
latch that I'm talking about, and all's
you got to do is slide the 2x4 right
onto there. And now we have something
that looks like this. This is where the
wood comes in now. So you just put one
piece up here like that, and the other
piece goes down here. Well one thing yet
to remember is to put the emergency
brake on and then put it into second,
fourth, or reverse. Cause, otherwise the shifter's
in the way.
And then you can put this last piece of wood on here.
And last but not least is the
big red pad. And when you get that all
set up, you have this nice big place to
sleep. Now in case it's not obvious by
this point, this is what it looks like
from the outside. The area that you
normally sit in is now the area that you
sleep in.
And the final piece of the sleeping arrangement is my sleeping bag. As you can tell it's getting dark out
here, so I'm glad I finished this when I
did. So that's about it for me here in
Tasmania. I apologize for this poor
lighting conditions, and actually, you
know what? That's a lot better. Thank you
cellphone LED for the extra light. Anyway
like I was saying this is my last night
here in Tasmania, and as promised I'm
gonna link that video of the the proper
camper van that I stayed in up in
Australia mainland, and I'll put that up
here for you guys. There's really no
comparison between the two. One's very
luxurious and the other one's kind of
roughing it. The, the one thing that I
will say is that the price of this car
camper is probably like less than
a quarter of what you would pay for the
JUCY camper van rental, so based on
your budget and how much luxury you want
on your your vacation then it's up to
you to figure out which one you want.
That's all I got for you guys. I hope you
enjoyed this one. I definitely enjoyed
making this one. So if you liked it,
definitely let me know in the comments
below, and give me that thumbs up, and if
you're not subscribed already my name is
Tony Florida. Thank you guys for watching.
See you next time.

General Motors debuts Chevy Spark electric vehicle at Portland State

General Motors debuts Chevy Spark electric vehicle at Portland State

Portland State University:

The reason we're here deploying
and launching the Spark EV
here for media in Portland
is Portland obviously a a leading
community enabling electric vehicles.
We're standing here looking right up the
street here at Electric Avenue
It's the only demonstration in the country
where you've lined up a series
of supplied 240 volt and DC
charging manufacturers.
You can test it out. We can look
at interoperability.
iI's a best case example of what's happening.
The leadership that folks like George Beard
at Portland State University
and Charlie Allcock at Portland General Electric
have demonstrated nationally
is really really important.
We could of gone to California.
We can come up here to Oregon
which are the two launch state for the Spark EV
and we just decided this time you know
what let's go up to Portland
let's really talk about the Urban
mobility opportunity with something like
the Spark EV it was a perfect fit
