Here's Why Chevys are Crap

Here's Why Chevys are Crap

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines, Christian Pete says
I got a 06 Chevy HHR heard some GM vehicles
won't work right with aftermarket radios
yeah you know it's true it's insane for
some reason a lot of the vehicles GM
made it that the radio is part of the
anti-theft system part of the starting
system of the car and I have had people
but aftermarket radios and the car once
thought they told it to me and I
explained to them you know it's got the
stupid interface for the starting system
I've also seen ones that they didn't
even touch of it's a factory radio but
something broke inside it in the car
wouldn't start
I don't know what this GM engineers have
in their minds or snuck up their rear
ends but they're certainly not doing it
right when they design stuff like that
that's just plain stupidity and they've
done it, v6 rice burner says Scotty I heard
that if the ground straps to your engine is
broken your wheel bearings can burn up
you know that sounds crazy but it's true
you gotta have a good strap from your
negative terminal your battery to both
the body of the car and the engine you
don't then ground its gonna seat you all
kinds of sources and since the tires are
on the ground it can even go through the
wheel bearings make them run hotter make
them burn out, so what
you want to do is everyone so how did
you check your ground straps it's very simple
they'll corrode it the battery clean
them or if they get loose tighten them
up and then the other end they just bolt
on you can unbolt them see if they're
rusted or corroded make them all shinny again
and then put them back on again it's an
easy thing to do and it's often to
collect it on older cars people don't
even think about it, James Royal the
first and he says I recently replaced the
catalytic converter on my Chrysler and my
mechanic
tells me the catalytic converter is
tripping a code that it's bad what could be
wrong all right well the first thing is
it's a Chrysler
unfortunately what people need to
understand about catalytic converters is
they burn unburned hydrocarbons so you don't
pollute if
a catalytic converter goes bad unless
you hear it rattling and it's physically
broken into pieces of rattling around
inside there's something that made it go
bad the engine is burning oil the engine is
running rich the engines running lean
fuel injectors are dripping too much
fuel and that runs the catalytic
converter or somebody was dumb enough to
spray silicone spray cleaner or using
something like seafoam and pouring it
right in the gas tank and then it can
mess with the catalytic converters they
go bad cuz there's a reason it hides out
with yours you got a serious problem
master mechanic who said you need a
catalytic converter again why is this
going on they don't generally go bad on
their own unless I say they break and you
hear them rattling, there's a reason they
go bad
and if you just replace the cat you'll just
keep replacing and replacing, williams GMC
say if
antifreeze gets into my engine and i
catch it in time do i have to replace
all angeles if you catch up in time and
it did damage you thing you won't have
to but here's what you have to worry
about your combustion chambers the
piston goes up it's compressing air and
fuel spray so that compress is pretty
good if you got a whole bunch of coolant
that leaked inside there when it goes up
and it's tell us to go further if it's
pushing against coolant the valves are closed
it still can push because the engines
got to spin it will bend the piston rods
goodbye it'll run bad, so if you
find that it still runs good now and you
change the oil and filter you're not
getting any foamy or a water mix yeah
you could continue in a job you want to
pray that not too much got inside there,
I'm at 9903 says my 07 hybrid
camry with 187 thousand miles is not
getting as good gas mileage as it used
to okay it's a hybrid often that's the
big giant battery the really expensive
one as they get older they lose
percentage of the power and as they do
your gas mileage will go down I see that
all the time in the hybrids now it is a
hybrid it's not a full electric car so
you want to check the spark plugs on
your regular engine that's a gasoline
four-stroke engine they are filled
there's stuff like that but if they're
all ok and it runs perfectly fine odds
are your hybrid battery starting to wear
out and then when you find the price of
that hybrid battery you might just live
with a little bit worse gas mileage
Wilhemina j says, Ford f-150 I was
going down the road and the speedometer
just stopped working and all kinds of
lights came on all right you want to
pray that it's just the speed sensor
there's an electronic speed sensor on a transmission
measures how it spins around sends an
impulse to the dash and makes the
speedometer work now even though your
speedometer looks like the old-fashioned
kind they have a speedometer cable it
doesn't work that way the signal on a
transmission is digital and it goes to
the dash and the dash changes the digital
one
to a stepper motor and a motor turns it
so it's actually turning but it's not
directly with the cable you want to pray
it's just that because if it isn't it
could be something's broken in the
transmission and then you won't get a
signal from the sensor praise the sensor
simple you can unbolt it by one and put
on yourself too, very easy fix, Easy Rider
says Scotty why does the low oil light comes
on
in a 2007 Express but it's full on the
dipstick, knowing those things just change
the
oil pressure sending unit they don't
cost much both off full time that could
fix all your problems if that isn't the problem
then you basically want to go to a
mechanic like me we put our actual oil
pressure gauge on that's a physical and
it gives the actual pressure and if you
do have low oil pressure that can get
super expensive it can be a bad oil
pump it could be bad bearings worn in
the engine they'd have a bigger space so
oil takes up a bigger space that makes
the pressure go down you want to pray
it's just the oil pressure sending unit from
my experience on those it often is,
so if you never want to miss another one
of my new car repair videos, remember to
ring that Bell

Why GM Doesn't Make Good Cars Anymore, What Went Wrong

Why GM Doesn't Make Good Cars Anymore, What Went Wrong

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines, zack says
Scotty my old family are GM fans, do you
know when GM car started to make them
poorly, my guess would be when they went
bankrupt around 2009, well they started
to make them poorly long before that, even
in the early 2000s they started to make
a lot cheaper stuff, I don't know how
true it is, but I talked to an engineer
and an engineer told me one time that GM
and Ford were going neck to neck and
people thought, Oh GM's are made better
than the Fords and then they did a
little research and GM found out that
they were spending 20% more building
their vehicles and that's why they were
better vehicles back decades ago, well
according to the engineer that I was
talking to, GM looked at and said gee
were spending 20% money more than Ford
building our cars, let's make them
cheaper, so they did and then the quality
went down, I know if it's true or not but
an engineer told me that, but they
have been going but down since the
early 2000s, it's just the nature of the
beast with corporations these days, they
want to make a profit and they want to
make things as cheap as they can and pay
people that make them as little as
possible, so they make more profit for
the corporation that's the way that
things go and sometimes it takes the
wrong turn like GM did and make products
that you don't hold up like they used to,
I learned to drive on a Chevrolet
Biscayne the thing was like a tank it had
a
302 v8 in it and that thing just ran
forever but not the new ones their not made
that wa,y no Oberto says Scotty
I am seriously considering buying the
2019 Land Cruisers, do you consider it to
be
the best quality built SUV I'm aware of
the gas mileage, yes they are for that
kind of a vehicle if you're willing to
spend that kind of money and get that
kind of low gas mileage, they are well build
vehicles my customers with them are all
pretty well happy with them, other than
the horrible gas mileage and if you're
willing to spend that kind of money, they
can last a long time, I got customers
with those thing that have three hundred and
fifty thousand miles on them and they're
still running strong, yeah if you don't
mind spending that kind of money go
right ahead, me I'm too cheap I'd never
spend that kind of money, Rambo ask
Scotty what do you think about me buying
a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
all wheel drive with 140,000 miles straight
6 for six grand
from my uncle as a first car,
well first of all some uncle he should
give you the car, now I'm not a Jeep fan
by any stretch of the imagination but
back in 2004 they were building much
better ones than they are today now that
Fiat owns them, that straight six-cylinder
engine can last forever I've seen those
things go 400,000 miles, good engines the
transmission that's an OK transmission
it's not great but it's not totally
horrible, it's a 15 year old Jeep try to
get it for a little bit less than $6,000
see if you can barter it, they can be fun
vehicles to drive around, realize they're
somewhat gas hogs because jeeps are
trucks their high up in the air, their not
aerodynamic or anything but it can be a
fun thing to drive, just try to get it a
little bit of lower, Scotty my SUV keeps
going out of alignment I had new shocks
replaced and no one seems to get the
alignment right, any ideas what as to what
it can be,
here's the thing, front end alignment
work we're talking about thousands of an
inches here thousands of an inches there
it's gotta be a pro who knows what he's
doing, so your best to find a
front-end shop that's all they do, here
in Houston I use cotton brothers front
end, they know what they're doing they
can fix any alignment problem, now the
second thing is, modern vehicles
especially the SUVs they're not like
vehicles when I was young, when I was
young they had all kinds of adjustments
there were like six different
adjustments you could do, today a lot of
times the only adjustment you can do is
the caster and the camber that's it
you can't do anything else, so it might
be that the alignment is off because the
struts bent or an a frame is bent, that's
why you have to start with a really good
front end guy, who knows what he's doing
and does good work you have to start
there, because otherwise all bets are off,
Devon says Scotty and I got a 93
3 liter 4runner, it does 16-17 mile per gallon
on the highway but does five to six in the
city any reason why, I live in Fresno
with hardly any traffic on the streets
Thanks, okay first of all, when you're
driving it in town does it get into top
gear, if you drive it really slow and the
transmission doesn't shift into top
gear, you're gonna get crappy gas mileage
like that, 16 to 17 is what those things
get on a highway, so it's working
normally at highway speed, so I'm
assuming it's not shifting into the top
gear when you're driving in town, go 35
miles an hour count the shifts as it shifts
and it should be into the top gear
if it isn't, you got a problem with your
transmission not shifting into gear
that's about the only thing that would
make sense cuz if you have any other
problem with the vehicle, it's gonna get
horrible gas mileage on the highway too,
the only difference is, it's shifting
into the higher gear on the highway maybe
it's not doing it in town, you should
still get at least 12 or something in
the city not 5 or 6, so if you never want
to miss another one of my new car repair
videos, remember to ring that Bell!

The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro Is a Horrible Mistake | Carguments

The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro Is a Horrible Mistake | Carguments

Jalopnik:

Fix your sweater, you've got
your undershirt poking out.
Oh my god.
–Yeah, we can start over.
Edit that out.
Yeah, edit that out.
Hello, and welcome again to “Carguments.”
The show where we argue about—
We're not arguing, we are carguing.
–We're cargu—
We are carguing.
–Where we cargue about the cars.
Yes.
–What we do here, on “Carguments.”
Yes.
I am Patrick George.
This is my horrible car son, Mike Ballaban.
We have bad news.
One of the best sports cars,
the Chevrolet Camaro—
We have good news:
It looks good!
–They unveiled a new
one this week, and it—
–It looks fine.
–It looks tragic, it looks tragic.
–It looks fiiiine.
–They really messed it up.
I believe
the new face of the Chevrolet
Camaro is a horrible mistake.
My colleague Mike Ballaban
thinks everything's fine.
OK, granted,
I'm not gonna tell you it's the
best-looking car of all time.
The best-looking car of all time,
we all agree, is the Saleen S7.
However, what is wrong with that?
It looks like a car.
It's just a car.
It's all grille.
It's all grille now.
They just cut off the front
of the old Camaro,
–This is not all grille!
and put this flat-faced—
–No.
With these tiny little—
–No.
headlamp slits, and it's all grille.
–No, OK, first of all,
the last one had tiny
little headlamp slits then.
They're even tinier now!
–I didn’t hear you complaining.
But second of all, every car’s
got a big grille face now.
–That's the problem!
That's a bad thing!
Toyota Camry's got
a big grille face,
Audi's have a big grille face,
they all have big grille faces.
What's wrong with this
big ol' grille face?
Well, if everyone was—
all your friends were doing DMT
and jumping off the bridge,
would you go do it too?
Just ’cause everyone’s doing something
doesn't make it right, Mike.
I mean, DMT does sound
kinda nice right now.
Ah, it is—it is Friday.
It would make a lot
of the cars look better,
but not the Chevy Camaro,
'cause it looks fine already.
I have issues with this car.
I think that they went
overboard with the grille.
They've taken the grille,
which is supposed to be part
of the front of the car,
and made it the whole thing.
It's all honeycomb,
it's all black plastic.
And I don't know if this is just 'cause
these newer turbocharged
engines just need so much air
to stay cool all the time.
And it's like the whole thing
just has to be a hole.
You're missing the point.
The Camaro used to be a
muscla car, or a muscle car
as some people pronounce it,
but they're wrong.
It is now a sports car, right?
Muscle cars were meant for the drag strip.
You would have one shot.
It would be like, “Ah!”—done.
Right?
But now they're going on tracks,
they're under sustained loads
for long periods of time.
You need cooling.
And how do you tell everybody
that your car is fast and needs cooling?
More grille.
This is an advertisement to the world:
“Look how fast I am.”
And even better, even better!
This signifies you that you just might be
in a four-cylinder 1LE.
Which—we used to think
the V-6 1LE was probably
the best Camaro there was,
but no, now it's the four-cylinder
because less power is always better.
–That's the thing about
the Gen 6 Camaro—
it's actually excellent.
It's one of the world's
best performance cars,
at any level.
So you've conceded
already, it's excellent!
Good, done.
Until they ruined the looks of it.
I’ll tell you what happened here.
–It looks fine!
I'll tell you what happened here.
So the new Gen 6 Camaro,
the one that came out a couple years ago,
looks the same as the
old Camaro, the Gen 5.
It's completely new under the skin.
New platform, new engines, new everything.
They tried to make it look different,
and then all the Camaro focus
group Camaro boys were like,
“Nah, it's gotta look the same,
it's gotta look low slung,
gotta look like Bumblebee, yeah,
gotta build the same.”
–The best part about that is, apparently,
so I don't know if you
remember, fifth-gen Camaro?
Impossible to see out of.
–Impossible to see out of.
–It was a danger!
And GM was like, “Don't
you want more visibility?"
And they were like, “Hell naw.”
And they made a very
fundamental and fatal
mistake when they did this.
It's because when
Americans buy new cars,
they want it to look
like a new car.
They want their neighbor
Tom to see the car and be like,
“Well, damn! That sure is
a nice new car you've got.”
And if Tom doesn't say that,
why did you drop 40 grand on a car?
So they're like, “Holy crap,
we gotta do something different,
make it look different,
do something, anything,
make it look different
than the old car."
And that's what they came up with.
They gave it to some intern one weekend,
and he just cut the whole nose off,
and they were like,”Send it.”
No, I mean, Americans
don't want new cars.
They still want—did you
miss the entire period
from, say, 1998 up until yesterday?
When all they wanted was retro cars?
Do you remember the PT Cruiser?
That was like a handful of cars!
And the Ford GT, which everyone
said, “Oh, it looks so great,”
but Ford really just
took some tracing paper
and just made the GT 40 again.
Yeah, the Ford GT's terrible.
It's just terrible, Mike.
–But that's what I'm saying!
People don't want new
cars, they want old cars.
Sometimes I pray a
meteor will hit the world,
so that we don't have to hear
your bad opinions anymore.
This is a great marriage of
old and new, much like myself.
And therefore, it's good.
It's a good-looking car.
You're welcome.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air | Frame Off - Bad in Blue

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air | Frame Off - Bad in Blue

UFO Bob:

(Engine roar)
(cue music)
Hi, I am Mitch Kelly and I'm Tom Kelly and this is the 'Bad in Blue: '57 Project'
that CPP has been helping us with.
(cue music)
We've been working on the 'Bad in Blue Project'
for about three months now
and I'm really excited to show you the
components that CPP has been helping us with.
The first thing I wanna show you is the
motor mounts for the LS-3 setup that CPP supplies.
Got a motor mount here.
And then we have we got a nice aluminum
piece here that bolts to the side of the LS-3
that allows the motor to come forward so that we can get it in a '57.
Sets the height of the motor.
They also supply the oil pan so it clears the cross-member, here, and the headers.
Here you can see the headers that you
get with the CPP kit.
This the headers that come with the motor mounts
and transmission mount...
and you can see that they're just gorgeous.
You need to do anything to them.
Ya bolt them up. They look good.
I am jazzed.
These are the CPP A-arms.
You can see they are tubular. They're
really nice. They're easy to put on...
and they really make the car sit right.
This is the CPP power steering unit. This is the 5000 series and this makes the car handle really nice.
One of the things I'm most excited about
is the breaking system we have on this car.
We have a Hydortech braking system.
This uses the power steering box to get its power.
We have the CPP master cylinder and it
sends a hydraulic fluid to the back
brakes separately and to the front, so you don't
have to put any of the adjusters in there.
It automatically sends the right amount
of pressure.
This is the CPP big brake kit
This is a 13-inch rotor. And we've got the calipers back there. Now the calipers were going to use...
on the show car are chrome from them guys. We have these calipers for mock-up,
but you can see that rotor is giant...
and it's really help us with the
stopping power using the Hydortech system.
We'll really be able to put the brakes on this car.
Hey, just so you know, we bought an LS 3525.
We got the motor from Pace Performance.
They were really good about helping us getting the motor here.
I'm pretty excited about this motor.
This motor is going to rock.
As you can see, we've got some EMS hood hinges here.
I think these things are gorgeous. They're so easy to put on. It makes the hood really easy to align.
We also have some other EMS components.
We've got a good latch up. I mean it's just polished and gorgeous. It really makes it easy to put in
and align everything. It's a nice piece.
This is our IDIDIT steering column.
It's a tilt column.
And what we're going to do is we're gonna
have this thing shift on the column
and I've got it all set up to do it.
One of the reasons why is I am going to have a bench kind of racing seat in here.
Were we'll have buckets in the bench.
But if we do 'Crusin' for the Cure' or something
I'll be able to put some people in this car...
and that will be fun.
On top of the steering column we've got a CPP Steering wheel. And they've got one of their low hubs on here.
It gets the wheel nice and close. And it comes with a horn, too. It's a good looking wheel.
I like that look. I like this look from the back.
I think it's sweet.
We're going to be using Dakota Digital guages.
They make a really nice setup for the '57.
It fits all in here.
You use their dash. This top piece to put that unit in.
This hole here is for our vintage air. This
will just be our control knobs.
That's the only thing I kinda want the dash.
I left the clock because the Dakota Digital's
clock does a number of things.
It gives you your water temperature and your oil pressure.
You can hit buttons on this and tell you all sorts of stuff.
So we're going to put that clock in there. I'll be
kinda fun for the passenger.
So we went with Borla Exhaust. Borla
stepped up to help us with it.
Now there's a lot of controversy on
where you run your exhaust.
You run it straight down. you run out the back.
I like to see it. And I like the old hot
rod style, so I like to have come out the side.
If it was up to me I'd have side pipes. I'd
probably get in trouble for that but
I like to see the exhaust. So I ran my tip out the side a little bit and I think it's going to be gorgeous.
I want to talk about my burnouts. The are my
American Racing wheels. They are called 'Burnouts'.
Now they made us this wheel. They can
make this in any off-set that you want.
So it's really kinda neat for the custom industry.
Doesn't matter how big your rear-end is. They
can make the wheel fit.
This is a 10 by 20 .This is a 20-inch wheel —10" wide.
We went with a 56" Currie rear-end.
And we may have fluffed a couple inches and we've got it all underneath the fender.
and lots a room in there.
I want to talk to you about our trunk here.
We've done some design work here. We've got some EMS battery boxes back there.
That our resident customizer, John did
here at the shop has fabbed-up for us.
He's also made us a nice panel so we can we get to our components back here.
With the wheels this size we need to be able to
drop that rear-end to change our tires.
So by utilizing the panel area we'll be able to go in there and adjust our Q-A1 shocks...
and be able to drop our rear-end and
disconnect the drive line.
There are lot of things to do to be to run components like this.
This is our 29 gal. CPP tank. This tank is huge and we're gonna be able to go to Alaska and back.
This is where the sending unit goes, right here. I'll peel it back a little bit.
But, uh, really nice unit fits in your super sweet.
Just bolts to the cross-member in the back of the frame. And it's just fantastic.
So I'm really excited about how far
we've come with the car.
Thanks to CPP help, we've really gotten a long way
since three months.
And I know it's going to be an awesome
project when we're finished.
Thanks CPP!

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air - Bad in Blue - SEMA Unveiling

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air - Bad in Blue - SEMA Unveiling

UFO Bob:

(cue music)
Hey, how ya doing buddy?
Jeff (off camera) What time is it? Kelly: 10 o'clock.
You know I put your name on the sign.
My number one buddy special thanks, Jeff
Norton, CPP.
They had to put in a separate phone line just for me because I was blown-up the phone lines regular.
So they gave m my own numbers so I could get a hold of Jeff Norton over there.
'cause I called him three times a day. If I didn't know what I was talking about or what I needed...
I'd call Jeff and he'd get me straightened
out. That was just an invaluable help.
So this guy is just a bevy of information.
It was a lot of fun on this build with Mitch. We had a lot of fun building this thing for sure.
MC (off camera) Now we're in the booth. Tell us a little bit about the build before we show everybody this car.
Mitch Kelly (off camera) The whole idea is when we go places and they've...
got us sign some posters or hanging out in the booth at all the car shows we go to...
I never have my car behind us. So I came home one day and ther was a '57 Chevy sitting next to the house.
And I called my dad, and I said, "dad there's a '57 Chevy for sale right next to the house."
It's got to be telling us this is the car we're going to build.
He says, "okay let's do it together."
So we bought the car and a year ago January we started and this is what we finished behind us.
MC: I don't want to stall any longer. I want to see this car guys. Let's roll it back.
Mitch (off camera) Awesome.
(crowd ooh and aah)
MC (off camera): Wow! Look at the difference. Let's tell them a little about what we have here on the paint job.
Mitch (off camera): OK. I love to do flames but I didn't want flames on my car.
So I talked to my dad about it. I said, "Dad I want flames, but I don't want flames."
"Dad, I want tribal, but I don't want tribal." I Want something uniquely different this time.
Now I tortured my poor dad. I had him do about some 30 or 40 drawings.
Everyone he did got a little closer to want I wanted.
Make this like this and this like that, and he did.
He perceived. He probably did 50 drawings all together.
and the end one is on the car.
MC: Well the design is definitely, it's Kelly all the way and it looks amazing.
Now you've done some interesting stuff to the interior.
You went with a different for the interior of a hot rod.
The inside of the car has a lot of modifications to the dash. We didn't modify the outside of the car because...
we wanted to keep the stock '57 feel. We like it just as it is. We've got CPP headers, CPP brake kit
makes it stop really well, we've got the CPP bakes on it.
CPP A-arms, CPP was huge in helping me build this car.
There's a guy over there named Jeff Norton. I started with him a year ago.
Every time I called him he had my answers.
So Jeff Norton was an invaluable help and I want to thank him and CPP.
(cue music to end of video)

Why Not to Buy a Chevrolet HHR Car

Why Not to Buy a Chevrolet HHR Car

Scotty Kilmer:

rev up your engines,
Marco's Delgado says Scotty I want to
get an HHR with a manual transmission
has 130,000 miles what are your thoughts
okay I don't like those GM products they
generally don't hold up over time, but
it's a standard transmission the worst
thing about the HHR are their automatic
transmissions are garbage and you don't
have one it's a manual transmission, now
that sets got 130,000 miles it's got a
little bitty four-cylinder engine in it
don't pay much for it, because they are
worth much when they're used, you get a
standard you get it at a cheap price
right, change the oil a lot take care of
it, who knows but don't pay much for it because just realize it when they get older
they're not worth that much money and
you want to pay much for it, and if you
get it cheap enough, hey you never know
it might last a long time just don't pay
too much for it because it isn't worth
that much, Theresa B says I got a 1998
Ford Taurus W hundred and sixty-four
thousand miles for free, but the radiator
was rusty, flushed alone, suspensions bad
valve cover transmission leaks
needs transmission motor mounts are
Ford Taurus is good car, okay
that's 98 Ford Taurus they actually had
quite a bit of problems, now the thing is
you got that car for nothing,
it runs decent and shifts decent do the
valve cover, oil leaks if it's not
leaking that bad, transmission fluid and
engine oils cheap just keep adding it,
and if the suspension is bad get some
struts and put them on it on and it will ride a
lot better, just don't put a whole bunch
of money into it, my advice would be,
drive a little while see how you feel
with it, does it feel solid enough does
it run and shift good enough and if it
does fix things a little at a time, if
it doesn't have just drive until the
wheels fall off and get rid of it, you
got it for nothing so you're not really
gonna be losing anything,
MDS 81 68 says, Scotty I have a shake or
wobble in the front when I take off from
a stop once in a while I thought it
could be the engine, clean the MAF
throttle port cleaner I had strut
replaced and it's still shaken or wobble
when I take off from a stop, a lot of
times it's just the motor or the
transmission mount is worn, because when
you take off, there's more torque on the
engine and so if the mounts are gone it will
wobble as it bounces back and forth
you want to check those mounts first to
see if there's any problem with that, now
let's say you have a car that is a
notorious problem like say, a Chrystler minivan that's doing
that
odds are two transmission is starting to
go out, because when you take off, if it
wobbles a lot of times it's the
transmission just starting to go out,
because if you got a suspension problem
like a bad tire or worn tie rods, the
faster you go the more it's gonna wobble
and yours is the other way around, it's
wobbling when you're taking off, you want
to pray that it's not an internal
transmission fault, because if it's that
you would have to go and get it rebuilt
which costs a fortune, so pray that it's
a motor or transmission mount first
because they're very easy to check, Zeno
2019 says Scotty I got a 2004
Trailblazer
and my dash lights aren't working what
could be the cause, people had the radio
out before the original dash cluster
and we got three more clusters put them
in and the light still didn't work what
could it be
it could be not having the radio when
you swap it out, because GM has these
insane designs, some of the modern cars
won't even start if you swap the radio
because part of the starting system
is in the radio circuitry, so you want to
check all the wiring by where the radio
was, something could easily be off now if
you hadn't had that radio taken out and not
replaced, the problem often is on those
you turn your lights on then you got
those things to make the lights brighter
or dimmer, that part often breaks now
that can be bypassed
because you can just take the wire off
of that and you can run it directly to
the clusters, when you have the car
running the cluster will get 12 volts
all the time and then the lights would
stay on, you couldn't adjust them and
make them dim or make them bright they'd
be bright all the time but hey, look at
me I'm getting old I want a bright so I
want those things as bright as they can
be, first thing I do is go to the light
feed on that cluster and just give it 12
volts and as it lights up, just rewire it
so that power comes from the ignition
switch to there when you start it up and
they'll be lit up all the time, Edoardo
Becerra says, Scotty hello from Italy I
have a 1984 Audi Quattro it overheats the
fan works I checked the inlet and outlet
temperature the two radiators and enters
in at 240 and exits at 140 what can it be, okay well it's leaving at a lot lower it's your
radiators are losing a hundred degrees
so they're getting rid of heat they're
doing their job, now the problem with
Audi's is, as they age they often have
problems with blown head gaskets, your
engine could just be putting out so much
heat that it's overheating
you want to watch my video, how to tell
if your head gasket is blown, do that test
because if the head gasket is blown it'll
overheat no matter how fast your
radiator can dissipate heat the engine
will create too much heat and then it will
keep overheating, so if you never want to
miss another one of my new car repair
videos, remember to ring that Bell!

2019 Chevrolet Blazer | Just One Problem | TestDriveNow

Steve Hammes New Car Reviews:

While the compact and 3-row SUV segment has
been growing by leaps and bounds, this 5-passenger
midsize type has been getting squeezed out.
But with our insatiable appetite for utility
vehicles these too are on the comeback. This
is the all-new Blazer.
When we last saw it a decade and 5 cogs ago,
the TrailBlazer was an American-built, body-on-frame
sport utility whose key competitors included
the Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango…models
that’ve since moved on to the 3-row arena.
Having its name pruned once again to simply
Blazer, this 2019 Mexican-made reboot weighs
nearly 300-pounds less, now arranges its 6-cylinders
in a V formation, produces more horsepower
but less torque and improves MPGs by over
30%; collectively, a microcosm of the industry’s
evolution during its 10-year hiatus.
Similar in length, wheelbase and ground clearance
to the TrailBlazer before it, the new Blazer
is marked by daring design and robust levels
of technology.  This one here is the sporty
RS trim with a host of distinguishing traits
and blacked-out features that lend it a Camaro-like
persona.  Not for the introverted, the Blazer
RS is a visually stunning specimen with a
futuristic patina and crazy 20” Dark Android
wheels.  So you see it and think it’s going
to be all spicy and sonorous, but in reality
it’s soothing and serene.
The Blazer’s design says racy but this SUV
is more of a teddy bear, with the headline
being quiet and soft.  This RS trim is all
about style and the V6 is very strong but
the Blazer coddles its occupants with automatic
everything and technology that doesn’t fight
you.  For something that looks this cool
though there’s not a lot of excitement here. Over
300 horsepower produces some torque steer
when you step on it and while the 9-speed
is typically very smooth there is one exception;
in stop and go traffic it tends to lurch ahead
as you slow down and start again…something
GM should address with a software update because
it sullies an otherwise pleasing experience.
Though a large one - this is the Blazer’s
only real gaffe and it seems like something
that could be addressed with a software update.
This V6 can be found in over a dozen current
GM products and here it’s rated at 308 horsepower
and 270 pound-feet of torque so acceleration
feels more than adequate and the all-wheel
drive system is the one utilized in recent
Buicks - sourced from driveline supplier GKN,
it incorporates torque vectoring technology
to help steer the vehicle making on-road performance
more stable and dynamic as well as enhancing
off-road capabilities. Plus, it makes the
setup more fuel-efficient by providing an
AWD disconnect; driver selectable when not
needed.  Other modes include Sport, Off-Road
and Tow that affect steering effort, shifting,
torque distribution and traction control with
a simple twist of the knob.  And I’m all
about the Blazer’s forgiving, compliant
suspension tune and hushed, Buick-like cabin
while at the same time appreciating its gutsy
motor and precise yet relaxed drive.
On a cool day like this as soon as I fire
it up my heated seat and steering wheel automatically
go into action. I like the simplicity of the
controls and the intuitive use of technology.
And the Blazer has a healthy dose of that
with wireless device charging, WiFi hotspot,
the Marketplace feature that provides convenient
access to a number of food and service vendors,
the safety alert seat that vibrates the bottom
in the direction of potential dangers, the
customizable gauge display, air vents that
double as thermostats, auto high beams and
dynamic radar cruise control. But the look
and feel of it all doesn’t match it’s
over $48k price tag.
The RS AWD is priced from just under $45,000
while other less adorned trims with 4-cylinder
power start in the low $30s.  With everything
you see here including the Cadillac-esque
rearview camera mirror, MSRP is $48,270 and
in that lofty air I just need a little more
luxury in the presentation.  I also need
a 360 degree camera button that’s not buried
within the touchscreen.  And heck, might
as well throw in a heads-up display.
The rear seats benefit from tilt and slide
functionality as well as a flat floor so 5-passenger
accommodations it truly is.  There’re also
heated with additional USB ports.  A panoramic
roof is optional.  And then in the back,
the bowtie projection automatically triggers
as you approach to show you precisely where
the foot activated sensor is, and cargo management
is more thoughtful with a sliding divider,
lots of cubbies, underfloor storage and remote
levers to the drop the rear seats.
Bigger than the Equinox and smaller than the
Traverse, the Blazer fleshes out Chevy’s
SUV lineup with a boldly-styled yet quietly
composed midsized comeback.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - Review & Road Test

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - Review & Road Test

Kelley Blue Book:

The Chevrolet Corvette ZRr1 is a car that
begs, no, dares you to explore its
limits, but I'm not going to do that for
two good reasons. One when it arrived the
rear tires were already toast, and two, to
review cars for a living
I need a driver's license, and I'm not
going to risk my livelihood setting the
new urban land speed record. Put those
limitations in place and a question arises.
What kind of fun can you have in a
Corvette ZR1 if you're aiming not to
break the law?
Triple digits might be thrilling but so
is 35 as long as you get there quick
enough.
Quickness is a given with the ZR1. I
could paint you a word picture, but
numbers work just fine.
That bulging hood hides a 6.2-liter
supercharged V8 making 755 horsepower. Here, let's toss a graphic up just in
case you think you misheard me. With the
electronic limited slip differentials
shuttling power to the ground and in the
right setting 0-60 sprints blur
by in less than three seconds. Ten-second
quarter mile times are achievable, and
with enough tarmac the ZR1 can hit 212
miles per hour
making it the fastest production
Corvette ever. What good is the fastest
production Corvette ever produced if you
can't show it off to your friends?
The grip on those wheels is really
noticed. That's nice.
And there's the speed limit. Woo, got
there fast. Did we get out of square in
second? Yeah, we're still in second, though that was cruising along
second. You know what it is right?
Right now you're driving like the worst
person to ever learn to drive a stick
shift. Who are you? Yeah
Along with heated and ventilated Nappa
leather seats, front curb cameras and
Bose premium audio, the $10,000 pricier
3ZR trim has a performance data
recorder. It's made to capture your
exploits at the racetrack, and the
internet was created for secure military
communications. There's no harm in
repurposing technology. Remember that
time I breezed through the infamous
traffic circle at swift but still legal
speeds? Why, yes I do.
The law tends to associate acceleration
with danger, so logically if I'm using
the brakes
they'll think I'm driving more safely.
Braking might not seem like fun, but try
it with an unsuspecting passenger. All
right! See, fun. Where brakes are concerned
the Corvette ZR1 is a massive
overachiever. Brembo carbon ceramics come
standard, 15.5-inch rotors and blue six-
piston calipers upfront, 15.3-inch rotors
in back. That's the kind of stopping
power you want when you're sending lap
times at the Nurburgring. Is it overkill
on the streets? Maybe, maybe not.
The ZR1 features a four mode exhaust
system and progressing from bizarrely
quiet stealth mode to raucous track mode,
there's an exhaust setting for all
occasions. For tunnels and overpasses
I recommend track.
Look I'm just driving here but the ZR1
flips a switch and other motorists, oh
hey, Dodge Challenger SRT8 guy, why yes, I
do see your smoking tires. For some reason
the ZR1 inspires these kinds of displays.
It's the arrow bits.
Maybe it's the ZR1 badge, or maybe it's
the carbon-fiber everything. To be fair
if you add enough carbon fiber to a
Sienna minivan someone will try and race
you. If I had to guess though, I'd say
it's the high-wing included on the
$3,000 DTK track Performance Package. Oh,
you didn't see it? Yeah, if you look
really closely in the back there there's
a wing. The high wing offers five-degrees of
adjustment to really dial in your
desired downforce. Though it does add
drag versus the standard low wing, so if
you're gunning for max velocity go low
wing, but if ultimate track
performance is the goal, ZTK is the play.
Beyond a conspicuous wing the package
adds higher rate springs, carbon fiber
end caps for the front splitter, loop
only, revised tuning for the standard
multimode magnetic ride control, and
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires,
elevating the ZR1s already ludicrous
cornering abilities.
The Corvette ZR1 offers an eight-speed
automatic transmission, but for ultimate
driver engagement stick with the
standard automatic rev matching seven-speed
manual clutch. Efforts are totally
manageable for such a powerful engine,
and the shifter gives you something to
do when you get bored, and I mean that
quite literally. With so much torque a
lazier driver could just leave the
transmission in third and skip shifting
all together. Look here I am leaving from
a stop in third no problem,
and here I am doing the speed limit in
third, merging with the freeway,
just burbling along, and now breaking
because the freeway is clogged.
One of the great things about a Corvette
is the view forward. The long hood gives
you a sense that you're guiding
something fast, kind of like pointing and
shooting an arrow.
The ZR1 amplifies that sensation by
reminding you with that big old
carbon-fiber engine cover that unholy
power lies beneath.
Truthfully, creating a sense of speed is
more about feel than numbers. It's sound,
vibrations and visual cues, even obeying
the speed limit the ZR1 makes for a
riveting commute. I should also say that
the ZR1 is still a Corvette. Some of the
interior plastic bits feel cheap, and I'm
pretty sure this trim piece shouldn't
move. No problem, if you need a
distraction from interior shortcomings
try looking up.
You can buy a Corvette ZR1 in
convertible form for about $126,000
including destination and gas guzzler
charges, but pro tip, go with the $4,000 cheaper coupe and you
can still enjoy open-air motoring. Look
at all the fun I'm having,
and look at my smug satisfaction having
saved $4,000. Aw, that guy's so smug.
Hate him so much!
When driving a 755 horsepower Corvette
it's fun to imagine exploiting its
potential. That days sound good.
Maybe a quick trip to Germany? How about
some high-speed cross-country
shenanigans Cannonball Run style, or
maybe, just maybe, the true appeal of a
ZR1 is the certainty you're piloting the
pinnacle of Corvette-dom. As far as
factory issued vets go this is the
fastest, priciest, best you can buy, full
stop, and the best part, you know you're
driving the ultimate Corvette no matter
how slow you go.
