Model Roxy and a 57 Chevy BelAir photoshoot

Model Roxy and a 57 Chevy BelAir photoshoot

John Tisbury:

Hello. So you join me, I'm just sitting in
the Chevy and I'm just on the A6.
Although it's quiet at the moment, no
cars coming past but you'll hear the
traffic in a minute as one's coming past now. Why am I sitting here? Good question.
I'm off to pick up Roxy, a model, and
today we're going to be shooting some
pinup style shots, glamour style that
kind of thing, with the car.
It's a beautiful day. Really really nice hot sunny day.
So hopefully the location that I've scouted
won't be heaving. If it is then we may
have to go elsewhere and find another
location.
It gives us a chance to shoot some stills and that's really what I'm going to be concentrating on today
and we'll also shoot some
behind-the-scenes content as well so
you'll see the setup and the sort of
equipment I'm using that kind of thing.
I've brought along basically a boot full of
gear. Do we've got the drone,
we've got video, we've got the iFootage
track to do a bit of time-lapse.
I brought really the whole studio I guess. It gives us a lot of flexibility a lot of options.
Hopefully Roxy hasn't got loads of stuff
that she needs to put in the boot. As the boot is fairly full now.
I'm about ten minutes away from Roxy so I'm just gonna give her a bell she's
expecting me! Thankfully. And we'll then hook up of you again once we're
in position and getting set up. Alright going to sign off for now.
Just going to start the car up and close this down. Just start the car...
The nice sound of an American V8.
So we've arrived. Roxy is just working her way through the clothing store that we have.
I just chucked a few things in.
I don't know if that's your size John?
No it's not my size.
It shows my underpants through there.
Scarfs...
I know girls like scarves.
Socks....laughter
Gosh. You're good at packing. Yeah.
So we've got a boot full of gear in here. Various things, cameras, drones, iFootage stuff for time-lapse
and there's some more clothes in the car as well, blouses and tops.
So we're going to get setup. Decide what we're going to wear.
I like these.
I thought you might, they're a little bit crumpled. Yeah that's fine.
So yeah, we're just gonna get set up and then we're gonna do some some shots.
It's glorious here. We're in a little car park.
Clear blue sky. We've got the place to ourselves. Well that's a bit of a lie, because there's those cars over there.
But in terms of people who are going to annoy us, and be inquisitive, at the moment
there is no-one. Right so going to sign off
and then we're gonna get set up. See you in a bit.
Okay, just turned the car round because we felt that a) shooting into the car park wasn't
really photogenic as a background and b).
Just positioning you on the bonnet.
Erm b) what was b)? b) was the light wasn't it. We felt that the light would be
easier to control because it's so bright out
here.
We've got Roxy in the shade. I can just
add a bit of fill-in flash into that.
So we're about to start off with another
set. I'm running a time lapse in the
which you'll get to see in a second when we've finished.
We're shooting on this side of the car. I've setup a flash, at an angle, opposite the
sun to fill in the shadows. And I've set
the zoom on that to about 35m...
oh sorry 35mm in terms of zoom. I
might go in a bit closer if I need to.
It goes up to 105mm if need be, if I really
need to go in tight on the zoom.
And I've got, on the front of the camera, I've got a polarising filter to cut the glare
from the glass and saturate the colours
as well. So yeah, see how we get on.
We've just been off to get a sandwich and a drink. We just made our way back again.
I don't think I pointed this out this morning, where we are parked, there's loads of Mayflies which have
hatched. I don't know if you can see them on the camera, probably not. All dancing around in the sun.

UFO Bob:

(Engine roar)
(cue music)
Hi, I am Mitch Kelly and I'm Tom Kelly and this is the 'Bad in Blue: '57 Project'
that CPP has been helping us with.
(cue music)
We've been working on the 'Bad in Blue Project'
for about three months now
and I'm really excited to show you the
components that CPP has been helping us with.
The first thing I wanna show you is the
motor mounts for the LS-3 setup that CPP supplies.
Got a motor mount here.
And then we have we got a nice aluminum
piece here that bolts to the side of the LS-3
that allows the motor to come forward so that we can get it in a '57.
Sets the height of the motor.
They also supply the oil pan so it clears the cross-member, here, and the headers.
Here you can see the headers that you
get with the CPP kit.
This the headers that come with the motor mounts
and transmission mount...
and you can see that they're just gorgeous.
You need to do anything to them.
Ya bolt them up. They look good.
I am jazzed.
These are the CPP A-arms.
You can see they are tubular. They're
really nice. They're easy to put on...
and they really make the car sit right.
This is the CPP power steering unit. This is the 5000 series and this makes the car handle really nice.
One of the things I'm most excited about
is the breaking system we have on this car.
We have a Hydortech braking system.
This uses the power steering box to get its power.
We have the CPP master cylinder and it
sends a hydraulic fluid to the back
brakes separately and to the front, so you don't
have to put any of the adjusters in there.
It automatically sends the right amount
of pressure.
This is the CPP big brake kit
This is a 13-inch rotor. And we've got the calipers back there. Now the calipers were going to use...
on the show car are chrome from them guys. We have these calipers for mock-up,
but you can see that rotor is giant...
and it's really help us with the
stopping power using the Hydortech system.
We'll really be able to put the brakes on this car.
Hey, just so you know, we bought an LS 3525.
We got the motor from Pace Performance.
They were really good about helping us getting the motor here.
I'm pretty excited about this motor.
This motor is going to rock.
As you can see, we've got some EMS hood hinges here.
I think these things are gorgeous. They're so easy to put on. It makes the hood really easy to align.
We also have some other EMS components.
We've got a good latch up. I mean it's just polished and gorgeous. It really makes it easy to put in
and align everything. It's a nice piece.
This is our IDIDIT steering column.
It's a tilt column.
And what we're going to do is we're gonna
have this thing shift on the column
and I've got it all set up to do it.
One of the reasons why is I am going to have a bench kind of racing seat in here.
Were we'll have buckets in the bench.
But if we do 'Crusin' for the Cure' or something
I'll be able to put some people in this car...
and that will be fun.
On top of the steering column we've got a CPP Steering wheel. And they've got one of their low hubs on here.
It gets the wheel nice and close. And it comes with a horn, too. It's a good looking wheel.
I like that look. I like this look from the back.
I think it's sweet.
We're going to be using Dakota Digital guages.
They make a really nice setup for the '57.
It fits all in here.
You use their dash. This top piece to put that unit in.
This hole here is for our vintage air. This
will just be our control knobs.
That's the only thing I kinda want the dash.
I left the clock because the Dakota Digital's
clock does a number of things.
It gives you your water temperature and your oil pressure.
You can hit buttons on this and tell you all sorts of stuff.
So we're going to put that clock in there. I'll be
kinda fun for the passenger.
So we went with Borla Exhaust. Borla
stepped up to help us with it.
Now there's a lot of controversy on
where you run your exhaust.
You run it straight down. you run out the back.
I like to see it. And I like the old hot
rod style, so I like to have come out the side.
If it was up to me I'd have side pipes. I'd
probably get in trouble for that but
I like to see the exhaust. So I ran my tip out the side a little bit and I think it's going to be gorgeous.
I want to talk about my burnouts. The are my
American Racing wheels. They are called 'Burnouts'.
Now they made us this wheel. They can
make this in any off-set that you want.
So it's really kinda neat for the custom industry.
Doesn't matter how big your rear-end is. They
can make the wheel fit.
This is a 10 by 20 .This is a 20-inch wheel —10" wide.
We went with a 56" Currie rear-end.
And we may have fluffed a couple inches and we've got it all underneath the fender.
and lots a room in there.
I want to talk to you about our trunk here.
We've done some design work here. We've got some EMS battery boxes back there.
That our resident customizer, John did
here at the shop has fabbed-up for us.
He's also made us a nice panel so we can we get to our components back here.
With the wheels this size we need to be able to
drop that rear-end to change our tires.
So by utilizing the panel area we'll be able to go in there and adjust our Q-A1 shocks...
and be able to drop our rear-end and
disconnect the drive line.
There are lot of things to do to be to run components like this.
This is our 29 gal. CPP tank. This tank is huge and we're gonna be able to go to Alaska and back.
This is where the sending unit goes, right here. I'll peel it back a little bit.
But, uh, really nice unit fits in your super sweet.
Just bolts to the cross-member in the back of the frame. And it's just fantastic.
So I'm really excited about how far
we've come with the car.
Thanks to CPP help, we've really gotten a long way
since three months.
And I know it's going to be an awesome
project when we're finished.
Thanks CPP!
(cue outro music)

With the fins on it, four door baby.
Never got it, never got it,

which is going to get, and my wife--
I had made reservations to go
to Barret-Jackson Auto Show in Scottsdale.
I had went through the catalogs
and saw the car I wanted.
It was a 1957, I was born in 1957,
and I was gonna buy a 1957.
I had it all worked man,

It was January 17th, which my birthday.
We get a letter in the mail
on the eighth from Michelle Obama,
she sends a letter to
Marjorie, they know each other.
Said, Marjorie I want you all
to join me for my birthday party.
Well her birthday
party's on the same night
I'm supposed to go to
Scottsdale to buy my car.
So she says, "Steve, Michelle Obama
"invited us to her birthday party."
I said, oh baby that's
cool but we ain't going,
'cause I'ma go to
Scottsdale to buy my car.
She says, "Steve, you would
rather go to Scottsdale
"to buy your car then
go to the White House,
"special invite from the first lady?"
(audience laughs)
Yeah.
(audience laughs)
So we was at the (beep) party.
(audience laughs)
Can you imagine, man,
if I had told my wife no
and went and bought that (beep) car?
Do you know every time
she looked in that garage
and seen that car it'd
reminded her of the time
she didn't go to the
party that the first lady
wrote her personally and
asked her to come to?
Do you know the pain that car
would have provided for me,
sitting in that (beep) driveway?
So I didn't get the car, because my wife
said we was going to a (beep) party.
(audience laughs)
Dr. Phil goes the next year and buys one.
He got one in his (beep) driveway.
(audience laughs)
Old (beep) Dr. Phil.
(audience laughs)
We was going to play golf,
'cause we play golf together,
"Steve, got something to show you buddy.
"Got a new car, what do you think?"
I said man, (beep) you Phil.
(audience laughs)
He said, "That's why I showed it to you,
"I know that's what you was gonna say
" (beep) if I bought it."
(audience laughs)
Dr. Phil man, really,
really cool (beep) dude.
Really cool, been a good friend of mine,
funny (beep) man, 'cause
he's so (beep) country,
he don't give a (beep) he
just say what he wanna say.
We were gonna go play golf together.
"Me and you we gonna be out there,
"and we're gonna go to Bel Air now,
"and you ain't gonna see
a lot of black people."
(audience laughs)
I said, okay well I'm gonna
be pretty (beep) strong,
just letting you know
(beep) I'ma be representing.
(audience laughs)
Went out there and beat
the (beep) out Dr. Phil.
(audience cheers)
